• Cannot loop through Excel 2003 files in SSIS 2008

  Hi, I am trying to execute a SSIS 2008 package on a 64-bit OS and import Excel 2003 files to SQL Server 2008. I have created an OLEDB Connection to the Excel file with a Connection String that retrieves the Excel file from a variable, inside the ForEach Loop Container. The Run64BitRunTime is set to false. I am not able to edit the SQL Command on the OLEDB Source in the Data Flow task. It returns an error : Error 2 Validation error. Load List Staged Table: Load List Staged Table: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "List OLEDB to Excel" failed with error code 0xC0202009. There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed. 0 0 Appreciate any help.

  Is this possible? I'd like to expose a URL (action) such as http://mysever/myapp/UpdateHeartbeat/. In my MVC application it looks like [Authorize] [AcceptsVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult UpdateHeartbeat() { // update date in DB to DateTime.Now } Now, in my MVC application the user has logged in via FORMS authentication and they can execute that action to their hearts content. What I want to do, is hit that URL progromatically (as part of an API that I wouldl like to build) -- is there a way I can do that without removing the [Authorize] attribute and adding username/password as parameters to the POST?

• Combining iPhone/iPad apps into one universal app

  I have two apps (one for the iPhone, the other for the iPad) that I'd like to combine into one universal app. For my first attempt, I tried creating a new universal app project and added the libraries for the iPhone and iPad versions. The iPad version compiled and ran fine (as expected), but the iPhone version didn't. My hope was that I could create a universal app that would execute only the project in the iPhone library when running on the iPhone and vice versa for the iPad. It seems like this should still work. Is there a way to tell the universal app project to ignore one of the external libraries when compiling for the iPad and vice versa for the iPhone? Thanks!

  I've got an application project that depends on a couple of shared libraries that I have created myself. According to the Qt 4.6 documentation "Deploying an Application on Mac OSX": Note: If you want a 3rd party library to be included in your application bundle, then you must add an excplicit lib entry for that library to your application's .pro file. Otherwise, the macdeployqt tool will not copy the 3rd party .dylib into the bundle. I have added lib entries to my application's .pro file but the libraries that I have written do not get copied into the bundle when I execute macdeployqt. I have the following in my .pro file: LIBS += -L../Libraries -lMyLib Everything builds okay, its just when I try to run from the bundle that I run into problems i.e. "image not found" errors. Is there a bug in macdeployqt or do I have to something more to my .pro file?

  Let me first describe my situation, I am working on a Linux platform and have a collection of .bmp files that add one to the picture number from filename0022.bmp up to filename0680.bmp. So a total of 658 pictures. I want to be able to run each of these pictures through a .exe file that operates on the picture then kicks out the file to a file specified by the user, it also has some threshold arguments: lower, upper. So the typical call for the executable is: ./filter inputfile outputfile lower upper Is there a way that I can loop this call over all the files just from the terminal or by creating some kind of bash script? My problem is similar to this: Execute a command over multiple files with a batch file but this time I am working in a Linux command line terminal. Thank you for your help, Luke H

  Hi My ASP.Net app is periodically getting the error 'Cannot find the object dbo."XXXX" because it does not exist or you do not have permissions' when it tries to execute a specific stored procedure that writes to the database. I have seen a few forum posts about this issue but the strange thing is that the method works fine almost all of the time, just every now and then I see it in my error logs. Can anyone tell me why this might works Ok most of the time but occassionally fire the error? Application is C# using Enterprise Library 4.1 Data Access. Database is SQL Server 2005 Cheers

  From my readings, when you execute a command as follows: java -jar foo.jar Then the main classpath is ignored and the classpath is taken from the manifest file. Further, the classpath declared on the command line is also ignored. So in: java -classpath /usr/local/jar/foobar.jar -jar foo.jar /usr/local/jar/foobar.jar is ignored. Lastly, I have read that the manifest file can only only contain relative paths, within the jar file. So, how do you include absolute paths to external jars, that are present on the system, but not in the jar file being executed?

• Code completion in NetBeans' python plugin does not work properly

  I am asking on StackOverflow because surely I am doing something completely silly and I hope S.O. might provide me with a quick answer. I've installed the latest stable Python-plugin for NetBeans. It works great, and I tested code completion with various packages such as sys, os and so on. It works beautifully. However, it does not seem to pick up the code completion for the code in my own project. I created a package called mypackage (it has _init_.py as well), and in it I have a module called mymodule.py. Inside mymodule I've put a class called MyClass, complete with doc-strings and all. Please refer to this screenshot to describe what happens in code-completion: As you see, it's suggesting irrelevant things, as opposed to just MyClass. (Note that if I execute mymodule.MyClass() it works 100%, it's just that I would really like code completion on my own code) Hope I'm just doing something silly here... Any ideas?

  Hi, I would like to run SSIS 2008 packages on a server that does not have SQL Server 2008 installed on it. I have a simple package to test the concept, but it fails to execute. The return code is 9020 which I have not seen listed as a return code elsewhere. I have copied the following files to the test server that does not have SQL Server 2008 installed on it: SelfContainedSample.dtsConfig Package.dtsx DTExec.exe I am attempting to run the package using a batch file. The line in the batch file that runs the package is: "%dtexecloc%\dtexec.exe" /FILE "%packagefolder%\Package.dtsx" /CONFIGFILE "%configfolder\SelfContainedSample.dtsConfig" /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING E %logfile% set rc=%errorlevel% I am wondering if there are other requirements that need to be satified to run an SSIS 2008 package on a server that does not have SQL Server 2008 on it? .NET Runtime? • Use DLL and have it be as trusted as my own application is

  Hi, I am using a port of GNU GetOpts, to be specific I am using the one at: http://getopt.codeplex.com I have added the DLL as a reference. But when I run my application I receive an exception: System.IO.FileLoadException was unhandled Message="Could not load file or assembly 'Gnu.Getopt, Version=0.9.1.24287, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=d014b4ccdc53511a' or one of its dependencies. Failed to grant permission to execute. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131418)" If it is possible I would like my application to say, "trust this DLL as much as you trust me". Is there a way to do that so I won't have to fiddle with security settings? And if there is not. What is the cleanest way to get the DLL working?

There are two options I am considering to get this to work: 1) write a COM-callable wrapper for the .NET assembly and have the VBScript create the COM object to use 2) write a .NET command-line exe that uses that .NET assembly and have the VBScript execute that exe Can anybody comment on the pros/cons of either approach and which is the better way of doing this?   I have data in 2 tables, and I want to create a report. Table A: tableAID (primary key) name Table B: tableBID (primary key) grade tableAID (foreign key, references Table A) There is much more to both tables, but those are the relevant columns. The query I want to run, conceptually, is this: select TableA.name, avg(TableB.grade) where TableB.tableAID = TableA.tableAID The problem of course is that I'm using an aggregate function (avg), and I can rewrite it like this: select avg(grade), tableAID from TableB group by tableAID but then I only get the ID of TableA, whereas I really need that name column which appears in TableA, not just the ID. Is it possible to write a query to do this in one statement, or would I first need to execute the second query I listed, get the list of id's, then query each record in TableA for the name column... seems to me I'm missing something obvious here, but I'm (quite obviously) not an sql guru...

  Hi everyone I thought I would use a stored routine to clean up some of my more complex SQL statements. From what I've read, it seems impossible to use a stored procedure within an sql statement, and a stored function only returns a single value when what I need is a result set. • Cross-database transactions from one SP

  I need to update multiple databases with a few simple SQL statement. The databases are configurared in SQL using 'Linked Servers', and the SQL versions are mixed (SQL 2008, SQL 2005, and SQL 2000). I intend to write a stored procedure in one of the databases, but I would like to do so using a transaction to make sure that each database gets updated consistently. Which of the following is the most accurate: Will a single BEGIN/COMMIT TRANSACTION work to guarantee that all statements across all databases are successful? Will I need multiple BEGIN TRANSACTIONS for each individual set of commands on a database? Are transactions even supported when updating remote databases? I would need to execute a remote SP with embedded transaction support. Note that I don't care about any kind of cross-database referential integrity; I'm just trying to update multiple databases at the same time from a single stored procedure if possible. Any other suggestions are welcome as well. Thanks!

  I have a multi-row insert that looks something like: insert into table VALUES (1, 2, 3), (4, 5, 6), (7, 8, 9); Assume the first attribute (1, 4, 7) is a foreign key to another table and assume that this referenced table does not have the value '4'. A MySQLExeption is thrown with error code 1452. EXCEPTION: Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails (dbName/tableName, CONSTRAINT id FOREIGN KEY (customer_id) REFERENCES referencedTable (customer_id)) Is there a way to identify which value caused the error? I would love to give my user an error message that said something like: Error: '4' does not exist in the referenced table. I am using the .NET mysql connector to execute the insert. Thanks- Jonathan

UPDATE table SET name='b1' WHERE name='a' UPDATE table SET name='b2' WHERE name='a' UPDATE table SET name='b3' WHERE name='a' UPDATE table SET name='b4' WHERE name='a' is there only one UPDATE statement would be executed with table update? or, is it possible that more than one UPDATE statements can really update the table? should I need extra transaction or lock to let only one UPDATE write values into table? thanks
