    Hello all, I am using Linq 2 Sql in VS 2010, and I have the following stored procedure to check a username and password ALTER PROCEDURE dbo.CheckUser ( @username varchar(50), @password varchar(50) ) AS SELECT * FROM Users Where UserName=@username AND Password=@password The problem I'm having is that it throws an exception if the username and password are incorrect. I'd like to perform a check to see if there is a return value, rather than using try/catch to determine whether the procedure returned a value. Should I do this check in code (C#)? Or is there a way to do it in SQL? Thanks.

    I have a List(of String()). I have written a custom comparer (implements IComparer(of string)) to do an alphanumeric sort. Is there a way to sort the List using a given index to determine which position in the String() to sort by? In other words one time I might sort by Index = 0 and another time by Index = 3. The length of all String() in the list is the same. For reference this question is similar to Sort List<String[]> except I am using VB.net and that question is hardwired to Index=0.

    I have stored the XML path to items in a string like this: response->items->item. What I need to do is to access an array called $xml_array like this: $xml_array['response']['items']['item'] When I write it in the code it works. The thing is that I want it to be done on the fly. I use this to convert response->items->item to ['response']['items']['item']: $xml_path = 'response->items->item'; $explode_path = explode('->', $xml_path); $correct_string = false; foreach($explode_path as $path) { $correct_string .= '[\''.$path.'\']'; } the problem is that I can't access $xml_array by doing this: $xml_array[$correct_string] So I end up with this: $xml_tag = 'title'; $xml_path = 'response->items->item'; $correct_string = '$items = $xml2array'; $explode_path = explode('->', $xml_path); foreach($explode_path as $path) { $correct_string .= '[\''.$path.'\']'; } $correct_string .= ';'; eval($correct_string); foreach($items as $item) { echo $item[$xml_tag].'<br />'; } and access the $xml_array array through $items array.     I have a file with 2 numeric columns: value and count. File may have 5000 rows. I do plot(value, count) to find the shape of distribution. But because there are too many data points the picture is not very clear. Do you know better visualization approach? Probably histograms or barplot with grouping close values on x axis will be the better way to look on data? I cannot figure out the syntax of using histogram or barplot for my case.

    I'm trying to wrap my head around how to organize components in an Entity Component Systems once everything in the current scene/level is loaded in memory. (I'm a hobbyist BTW) Some people seem to implement the Entity as an object that contains a list of of "Component" objects. Components contain data organized as an array of key-value pairs. Where the value is serialized "somehow". (pseudocode is loosely in C# for brevity) class Entity { Guid _id; List<Component> _components; } class Component { List<ComponentAttributeValue> _attributes; } class ComponentAttributeValue { string AttributeName; object AttributeValue; } Others describe Components as an in-memory "table". An entity acquires the component by having its key placed in a table. The attributes of the component-entity instance are like the columns in a table class Renderable_Component { List<RenderableComponentAttributeValue> _entities; } class RenderableComponentAttributeValue { Guid entityId; matrix4 transformation; // other stuff for rendering // everything is strongly typed } Others describe this actually as a table.     I have model, Match, with two foreign keys: class Match(model.Model): winner = models.ForeignKey(Player) loser = models.ForeignKey(Player) When I loop over Match I find that each model instance uses a unique object for the foreign key. If this is the case, how do I make it so that Hibernate points to the exists ServiceType instead of trying to insert it again?

  • Inheritance of jQuery's prototype partially fails

    I want to use Coffeescript to create an UIObject class. This class should inherit from jQuery, so that instances of UIObject can be used as if they where created with jQuery. class UIObject isObject: (val) -> typeof val is "object" constructor: (tag, attributes) -> @merge jQuery(tag, attributes), this @UIObjectProperties = {} merge: (source, destination) -> for key of source if destination[key] is undefined destination[key] = source[key] else if @isObject(source[key]) @merge(source[key], destination[key]) return It partially works. Consider the Foobar class below: class Foobar extends UIObject constructor: -> super("<h1/>", html: "Foobar") $("body").append(new Foobar) works fine. BUT: (new Foobar).appendTo("body") places the tag, but also raises RangeError: Maximum call stack size exceeded. Was it just a bad idea to inherit from jQuery? Or is there a solurion?     Greetings, I have a problem to use selected value propriety of CascadingDropDown. I have 3 asp dropdown controls with ajax CascadingDropDown for each one of them. I have no problem to bind data to the 3 CascadingDropDown but my problem is to rebind CascadingDropDown. simply what I want to do is to select a record from Gridview which has the selected values for the CascadingDropDown that I want to pass then rebind the CascadingDropDown with selected value.
