  • Employing elegance in order to evade importing elephants: a case of excessive dll Imports

    - by user994179
    I am writing C# code that interfaces to a legacy (Feb 2012) C program, using DllImport. It works fine, but I need to call more than 30 different functions, turning my normally impeccable, exquisite code into something of near-elephantine proportions. Surely there must be a way around this? [Warning: those with weak stomachs may want to avert their eyes from what follows]: [DllImport("C:\\Users\\mitt\\Documents\\Visual Studio 2010\\Projects\\mrSolution\\mr\\x64\\Debug\\mrDll.dll", CallingConvention = CallingConvention.Cdecl, CharSet = CharSet.Ansi)] public static extern bool mrEngine_initialize( [In, Out, MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStruct)] PLOT_SPEC PlotSpec); [DllImport("C:\\Users\\mitt\\Documents\\Visual Studio 2010\\Projects\\mrSolution\\mr\\x64\\Debug\\mrDll.dll", CallingConvention = CallingConvention.Cdecl, CharSet = CharSet.Ansi)] public static extern bool mrEngine_getDataPoint( [In, Out, MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStruct)] PLOT_SPEC PlotSpec);

  • Setting generic type at runtime

    - by destroyer of evil
    I have a class public class A<T> { public static string B(T obj) { return TransformThisObjectToAString(obj); } } I can call the static function like this just fine on a known/specified type: string s= A<KnownType>.B(objectOfKnownType); How do I make this call, if I don't know T beforehand, rather I have a variable of type Type that holds the type. If I do this: Type t= typeof(string); string s= A<t>.B(someStringObject); I get this compiler error: Cannot implicitly convert type 't' to 'object'

  • WPF ListView in GridView mode Highlighting problem

    - by xenik
    While reskining GridView (ListView with more columns), I ran into a problem, that I couldn't change the color of the Highlighted row. I searched the internet and found out, that adding this can help. <SolidColorBrush x:Key="{x:Static SystemColors.HighlightBrushKey}" Color="Transparent" /> <SolidColorBrush x:Key="{x:Static SystemColors.ControlBrushKey}" Color="Transparent" /> This solved the issue for some people but it didnt help me. The Highlight color was still in system default. I finally managed to change the color of the selected row, but the highlight is still visible around the border of the row plus i need to get rid of the Highlight in the ColumnHeaders. Heres the code, where my approach doesn't work. sth sthelse

  • How come this image won't resize to fit the sprite?

    - by George Edison
    I have this snippet of ActionScript code that is supposed to resize an image to fit the sprite: package { import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.display.Bitmap; import flash.events.Event; public class Main extends Sprite { [Embed(source = 'img.png')] private var TheImage:Class; public static const TheImageWidth:Number = 1300; public static const TheImageHeight:Number = 1300; public function Main():void { if (stage) init(); else addEventListener(Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE, init); } private function init(e:Event = null):void { removeEventListener(Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE, init); // entry point var image:Bitmap = new TheImage(); addChild(image); image.scaleX = width / TheImageWidth; image.scaleY = height / TheImageHeight; } } } Why isn't it working?

  • Spring ROO issue with UrlRewrite in STS (eclipse)

    - by user224270
    I'm having trouble figuring out how to solve this issue. I have a file called: "urlrewrite.xml" which was automatically generated by spring ROO after running the "controller" command in ROO Shell. However, I still get the following error: "Referenced file contains errors (http://tuckey.org/res/dtds/urlrewrite3.0.dtd). For more information, right click on the message in the Problems View and select "Show Details..." Here's the content of the urlrewrite.xml file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <!DOCTYPE urlrewrite PUBLIC "-//tuckey.org//DTD UrlRewrite 3.0//EN" "http://tuckey.org/res/dtds/urlrewrite3.0.dtd"> <urlrewrite default-match-type="wildcard"> <rule> <from>/resources/**</from> <to last="true">/resources/$1</to> </rule> <rule> <from>/static/WEB-INF/**</from> <set type="status">403</set> <to last="true">/static/WEB-INF/$1</to> </rule> <rule> <from>/static/**</from> <to last="true">/$1</to> </rule> <rule> <from>/</from> <to last="true">/app/index</to> </rule> <rule> <from>/app/**</from> <to last="true">/app/$1</to> </rule> <rule> <from>/**</from> <to>/app/$1</to> </rule> <outbound-rule> <from>/app/**</from> <to>/$1</to> </outbound-rule> </urlrewrite> Any thoughts on how to get rid of this error?

  • Is there a simpler way to convert a byte array to a 2-byte-size hexadecimal string?

    - by Tom Brito
    Is there a simpler way of implement this? Or a implemented method in JDK or other lib? /** * Convert a byte array to 2-byte-size hexadecimal String. */ public static String to2DigitsHex(byte[] bytes) { String hexData = ""; for (int i = 0; i < bytes.length; i++) { int intV = bytes[i] & 0xFF; // positive int String hexV = Integer.toHexString(intV); if (hexV.length() < 2) { hexV = "0" + hexV; } hexData += hexV; } return hexData; } public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println(to2DigitsHex(new byte[] {8, 10, 12})); } the output is: "08 0A 0C" (without the spaces)

  • How can I have a serializable struct that wraps it's self as an int32 implicitly? in C#?

    - by firoso
    Long story short, I have a struct (see below) that contains exactly one field: private int value; I've also implemented implicit conversion operators: public static implicit operator int(Outlet val) { return val.value; } public static implicit operator Outlet(int val) { return new Outlet(val); } I've implemented all of the following : IComparable, IComparable<Cart>, IComparable<int>, IConvertible, IEquatable<Cart>, IEquatable<int>, IFormattable I'm at a point where I really have no clue why, but whenever I serialize this object, I get no value. For instance, with XmlSerialization: <Outlet /> Also, I'm not solely concerned about XmlSerialization, I'm concerned about ALL serialization (binary for instance) How can I ensure that this serializes properly? NOTE: I did this because mapping an int,int dictionary seemed rather poorly typed to me when explicit objects with validation behavior were desired.

  • How to detect Links with out anchor element in a plain text

    - by dhee
    If user enters his text in the text box and saves it and again what's to add some more text he can edit that text and save it if required. Firstly if user enters that text with some links I, detected them and converted any hyperlinks to linkify in new tab. Secondly if user wants to add some more text and links he clicks on edit and add them and save it at this time I must ignore the links that already hyperlinked with anchor button Please help and advice For example: what = "<span>In the task system, is there a way to automatically have any site / page URL or image URL be hyperlinked in a new window?</span><br><br><span>So If I type or copy http://www.stackoverflow.com/&nbsp; for example anywhere in the description, in any of the internal messages or messages to clients, it automatically is a hyperlink in a new window.</span><br><a href="http://www.stackoverflow.com/">http://www.stackoverflow.com/</a><br> <br><span>Or if I input an image URL anywhere in support description, internal messages or messages to cleints, it automatically is a hyperlink in a new window:</span><br> <span>https://static.doubleclick.net/viewad/4327673/1-728x90.jpg</span><br><br><a href="https://static.doubleclick.net/viewad/4327673/1-728x90.jpg">https://static.doubleclick.net/viewad/4327673/1-728x90.jpg</a><br><br><br><span>This would save us a lot time in task building, reviewing and creating messages.</span> Test URL's http://www.stackoverflow.com/ http://stackoverflow.com/ https://stackoverflow.com/ www.stackoverflow.com //stackoverflow.com/ <a href='http://stackoverflow.com/'>http://stackoverflow.com/</a>"; I've tried this code function Linkify(what) { str = what; out = ""; url = ""; i = 0; do { url = str.match(/((https?:\/\/)?([a-z\-]+\.)*[\-\w]+(\.[a-z]{2,4})+(\/[\w\_\-\?\=\&\.]*)*(?![a-z]))/i); if(url!=null) { // get href value href = url[0]; if(href.substr(0,7)!="http://") href = "http://"+href; // where the match occured where = str.indexOf(url[0]); // add it to the output out += str.substr(0,where); // link it out += '<a href="'+href+'" target="_blank">'+url[0]+'</a>'; // prepare str for next round str = str.substr((where+url[0].length)); } else { out += str; str = ""; } } while(str.length>0); return out; } Please help Thanks.

  • java checked exception in a catch clause compilation error

    - by srandpersonia
    Hi, I was expecting an compilation error in the following program because of the throw statement in the catch block as IOException is a checked exception and it is not caught by another try block within the catch block. But I am getting "Hurray!" printed. Any explanation would be much appreciated. According to JLS 11.2.3, http://java.sun.com/docs/books/jls/third_edition/html/exceptions.html It is a compile-time error if a method or constructor body can throw some exception type E when both of the following hold: * E is a checked exception type * E is not a subtype of some type declared in the throws clause of the method or constructor. import java.io.*; public class Test{ public static void main(String args[]) { System.out.println(method()); } public static int method() { try{ throw new Exception(); } catch(Exception e){ throw new IOException(); //No compile time error } finally{ System.out.println("Hurray!"); } } } Thanks in advance.

  • Longest keyword chain?

    - by pg-robban
    As I was typing some constants in Java I noticed I had used 4 keywords in a row, which Eclipse highlighted for me: public static final int. I then took a break from my regular coding and asked myself (and google with no relevant results) what the longest chain of keywords I can use and still have valid code. After a while, the best I could come up with was this method definition: public synchronized static final strictfp int a() { ... which is 6 keywords in Java. Is it possible to go 7, or even higher? What about other languages?

  • Variable lenght arguments in log4cxx LOG4CXX_ macros

    - by Horacio
    I am using log4cxx in a big C++ project but I really don't like how log4cxx handles multiple variables when logging: LOG4CXX_DEBUG(logger, "test " << var1 << " and " << var3 " and .....) I prefer using printf like variable length arguments: LOG4CXX_DEBUG(logger, "test %d and %d", var1, var3) So I implemented this small wrapper on top of log4cxx #include <string.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <stdarg.h> #include <log4cxx/logger.h> #include "log4cxx/basicconfigurator.h" const char * log_format(const char *fmt, ...); #define MYLOG_TRACE(logger, fmt, ...) LOG4CXX_TRACE(logger, log_format(fmt, ## __VA_ARGS__)) #define MYLOG_DEBUG(logger, fmt, ...) LOG4CXX_DEBUG(logger, log_format(fmt, ## __VA_ARGS__)) #define MYLOG_INFO(logger, fmt, ...) LOG4CXX_INFO(logger, log_format(fmt, ## __VA_ARGS__)) #define MYLOG_WARN(logger, fmt, ...) LOG4CXX_WARN(logger, log_format(fmt, ## __VA_ARGS__)) #define MYLOG_ERROR(logger, fmt, ...) LOG4CXX_ERROR(logger, log_format(fmt, ## __VA_ARGS__)) #define MYLOG_FATAL(logger, fmt, ...) LOG4CXX_FATAL(logger, log_format(fmt, ## __VA_ARGS__)) static log4cxx::LoggerPtr logger(log4cxx::Logger::getRootLogger()); int main(int argc, char **argv) { log4cxx::BasicConfigurator::configure(); MYLOG_INFO(logger, "Start "); MYLOG_WARN(logger, log_format("In running this in %d threads safe?", 1000)); MYLOG_INFO(logger, "End "); return 0; } const char *log_format(const char *fmt, ...) { va_list va; static char formatted[1024]; va_start(va, fmt); vsprintf(formatted, 1024, fmt, va); va_end(va); return formatted; } And this works perfectly but I know using that static variable (formatted) can become problematic if I start using threads and each thread logging to the same place. I am no expert in log4cxx so I was wondering if the LOG4CXX macros are handling concurrent thread access automatically? or do I have to implement some sort of locking around the log_format method? something that I wan't to avoid due to performance implications. Also I would like to ask why if I replace the vsprintf inside the log_format method with vsnprintf (that is more secure) then I get nothing printed? To compile and test this program (in Ubuntu) use : g++ -o loggertest loggertest.cpp -llog4cxx

  • Does MATLAB perform tail call optimization?

    - by Shea Levy
    I've recently learned Haskell, and am trying to carry the pure functional style over to my other code when possible. An important aspect of this is treating all variables as immutable, i.e. constants. In order to do so, many computations that would be implemented using loops in an imperative style have to be performed using recursion, which typically incurs a memory penalty due to the allocation a new stack frame for each function call. In the special case of a tail call (where the return value of a called function is immediately returned to the callee's caller), however, this penalty can be bypassed by a process called tail call optimization (in one method, this can be done by essentially replacing a call with a jmp after setting up the stack properly). Does MATLAB perform TCO by default, or is there a way to tell it to?

  • Linux Kernel - Slab Allocator Question

    - by Drex
    I am playing around with the kernel and am looking at the kmem_cache files_cachep belonging to fork.c. It detects the sizeof(files_struct). My question is this: I have altered files_struct and added a rb_root (red/black tree root) using the built-in functionality in linux/rbtree.h. I can properly insert values into this tree. However, at some point, a segfault occurs and GDB backtraces the following information: (gdb) backtrace 0 0x08066ad7 in page_ok (page=) at arch/um/os-Linux/sys-i386/task_size.c:31 1 0x08066bdf in os_get_top_address () at arch/um/os-Linux/sys-i386/task_size.c:100 2 0x0804a216 in linux_main (argc=1, argv=0xbfb05f14) at arch/um/kernel/um_arch.c:277 3 0x0804acdc in main (argc=1, argv=0xbfb05f14, envp=0xbfb05f1c) at arch/um/os-Linux/main.c:150 I have spent many hours trying to figure out why there is a segfault given that the red/black tree inserts properly. I'm thinking it's a memory allocation issue with new processes made by fork() of a parent process. Could this be the case and could it have something to do with kmem_cache files_cachep?

  • Strange profiling results: definitely non-bottleneck method pops up

    - by jkff
    I'm profiling a program using sampling profiling in YourKit and JProfiler, and also "manually" (I launch it and press Ctrl-Break several times to get thread dumps). All three methods give me extremely strange results: some tens of percents of time spent in a 3-line method that does not even do any allocation or synchronization and doesn't have loops etc. Moreover, after I made this method into a NOP and even removed its invocation completely, the observable program performance didn't change at all (although it got a negligible memory leak, since it was a method for freeing a cheap resource). I'm thinking that this might be because of the constraints that JVM puts on the moments at which a thread's stacktrace may be taken, and it somehow turns out that in my program it is exactly the moments where this method is invoked, although there is absolutely nothing special about it or the context in which it is invoked. What can be the explanation for this phenomenon? What are the aforementioned constraints? What further measurements can I take to clarify the situation?

  • Grails / GORM, Disable First-level Cache

    - by Stephen Swensen
    Suppose I have the following Domain class mapping to a legacy table, utilizing read-only second-level cache, and having a transient field: class DomainObject { static def transients = ['userId'] Long id Long userId static mapping = { cache usage: 'read-only' table 'SOME_TABLE' } } I have a problem, references to DomainObject are being shared due to first-level caching, and thus transient fields are writing over each other. For example, def r1 = DomainObject.get(1) r1.userId = 22 def r2 = DomainObject.get(1) r2.userId = 34 assert r1.userId == 34 That is, r1 and r2 are references to the same instance. This is undesirable, I would like to cache the table data without sharing references. Any ideas? [Edit] Understanding the situation better now, I believe my question boils down to the following: Is there anyway to disable first level cache for a specific domain class while still using second level cache?

  • What tech stack/platform to use for a project?

    - by danny z
    Hey guys, This is a bit of a weird meta-programming question, but I've realized that my new project doesn't need a full MVC framework, and being a rails guy, I'm not sure what to use now. To give you a gist of the necessary functionality; this website will display static pages, but users will be able to log in and 'edit their current plans'. All purchasing and credit card editing is being handled by a recurring payment subscriber, I just need a page to edit their current plan. All of that will be done through (dynamic) XML API calls, so no database is necessary. Should I stick with my typical rails/nginx stack, or is there something I could use that would lighten the load, since I don't need the Rails heft. I'm familiar with python and PHP but would prefer not to go that route. Is Sinatra a good choice here? tl;dr: What's a good way to quickly serve mostly static pages, preferably in Ruby, with some pages requiring dynamic XML rendering?

  • C#/ASP.NET MVC 4 Instantiate Object Derived From Interface In Factory Method

    - by Chris
    Currently have a Factory class that features a GetSelector function, which returns a concrete implementation of ISelector. I have several different classes that implement ISelector and based on a setting I would like to receive the appropriate ISelector back. public interface ISelector { string GetValue(string Params); } public class XmlSelector : ISelector { public string GetValue(string Params) { // open XML file and get value } } public static class SelectorFactory { public static ISelector GetSelector() { return new XmlSelector(); // Needs changing to look at settings } } My question is what is the best way to store the setting? I am aware of using AppSettings etc. but I'm not sure whether I want to have to store strings in the web.config and perform a switch on it - just seems to be really tightly coupled in that if a new implementation of ISelector is made, then the Factory would need to be changed. Is there any way of perhaps storing an assembly name and instantiating based on that? Thanks, Chris

  • HTML5: Can't drag on-the-fly created <div> tag even though draggable='true' Do I need to "BLESS"

    After creating a div on the fly with this markup: $('.circuit').prepend("<div class='component' draggable='true'>TRANSISTOR</div>"); It is NOT draggable itself :( Is jQuery prepend() the correct way to create "live" tags in the DOM? Do I need to somehow bless it a different way to make draggable=true really work? How to I wire it up so that on-the-fly divs can be draggable? AFTER NOTE: I added a static div and that is draggable. INTERESTING: I view both the static and dynamic using FireFox F12 Firebug and they are identical. But one is draggable and one is not!!!

  • How To Get Type Info Without Using Generics?

    - by DaveDev
    Hi Guys I have an object obj that is passed into a helper method. public static MyTagGenerateTag<T>(this HtmlHelper htmlHelper, T obj /*, ... */) { Type t = typeof(T); foreach (PropertyInfo prop in t.GetProperties()) { object propValue = prop.GetValue(obj, null); string stringValue = propValue.ToString(); dictionary.Add(prop.Name, stringValue); } // implement GenerateTag } I've been told this is not a correct use of generics. Can somebody tell me if I can achieve the same result without specifying a generic type? If so, how? I would probably change the signature so it'd be like: public static MyTag GenerateTag(this HtmlHelper htmlHelper, object obj /*, ... */) { Type t = typeof(obj); // implement GenerateTag } but Type t = typeof(obj); is impossible. Any suggestions? Thanks Dave

  • Java unit test coverage numbers do not match.

    - by Dan
    Below is a class I have written in a web application I am building using Java Google App Engine. I have written Unit Tests using TestNG and all the tests pass. I then run EclEmma in Eclipse to see the test coverage on my code. All the functions show 100% coverage but the file as a whole is showing about 27% coverage. Where is the 73% uncovered code coming from? Can anyone help me understand how EclEmma works and why I am getting the discrepancy in numbers? package com.skaxo.sports.models; import javax.jdo.annotations.IdGeneratorStrategy; import javax.jdo.annotations.IdentityType; import javax.jdo.annotations.PersistenceCapable; import javax.jdo.annotations.Persistent; import javax.jdo.annotations.PrimaryKey; @PersistenceCapable(identityType= IdentityType.APPLICATION) public class Account { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy=IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Long id; @Persistent private String userId; @Persistent private String firstName; @Persistent private String lastName; @Persistent private String email; @Persistent private boolean termsOfService; @Persistent private boolean systemEmails; public Account() {} public Account(String firstName, String lastName, String email) { super(); this.firstName = firstName; this.lastName = lastName; this.email = email; } public Account(String userId) { super(); this.userId = userId; } public void setId(Long id) { this.id = id; } public Long getId() { return id; } public String getUserId() { return userId; } public void setUserId(String userId) { this.userId = userId; } public String getFirstName() { return firstName; } public void setFirstName(String firstName) { this.firstName = firstName; } public String getLastName() { return lastName; } public void setLastName(String lastName) { this.lastName = lastName; } public String getEmail() { return email; } public void setEmail(String email) { this.email = email; } public boolean acceptedTermsOfService() { return termsOfService; } public void setTermsOfService(boolean termsOfService) { this.termsOfService = termsOfService; } public boolean acceptedSystemEmails() { return systemEmails; } public void setSystemEmails(boolean systemEmails) { this.systemEmails = systemEmails; } } Below is the test code for the above class. package com.skaxo.sports.models; import static org.testng.Assert.assertEquals; import static org.testng.Assert.assertNotNull; import static org.testng.Assert.assertTrue; import static org.testng.Assert.assertFalse; import org.testng.annotations.BeforeTest; import org.testng.annotations.Test; public class AccountTest { @Test public void testId() { Account a = new Account(); a.setId(1L); assertEquals((Long) 1L, a.getId(), "ID"); a.setId(3L); assertNotNull(a.getId(), "The ID is set to null."); } @Test public void testUserId() { Account a = new Account(); a.setUserId("123456ABC"); assertEquals(a.getUserId(), "123456ABC", "User ID incorrect."); a = new Account("123456ABC"); assertEquals(a.getUserId(), "123456ABC", "User ID incorrect."); } @Test public void testFirstName() { Account a = new Account("Test", "User", "[email protected]"); assertEquals(a.getFirstName(), "Test", "User first name not equal to 'Test'."); a.setFirstName("John"); assertEquals(a.getFirstName(), "John", "User first name not equal to 'John'."); } @Test public void testLastName() { Account a = new Account("Test", "User", "[email protected]"); assertEquals(a.getLastName(), "User", "User last name not equal to 'User'."); a.setLastName("Doe"); assertEquals(a.getLastName(), "Doe", "User last name not equal to 'Doe'."); } @Test public void testEmail() { Account a = new Account("Test", "User", "[email protected]"); assertEquals(a.getEmail(), "[email protected]", "User email not equal to '[email protected]'."); a.setEmail("[email protected]"); assertEquals(a.getEmail(), "[email protected]", "User email not equal to '[email protected]'."); } @Test public void testAcceptedTermsOfService() { Account a = new Account(); a.setTermsOfService(true); assertTrue(a.acceptedTermsOfService(), "Accepted Terms of Service not true."); a.setTermsOfService(false); assertFalse(a.acceptedTermsOfService(), "Accepted Terms of Service not false."); } @Test public void testAcceptedSystemEmails() { Account a = new Account(); a.setSystemEmails(true); assertTrue(a.acceptedSystemEmails(), "System Emails is not true."); a.setSystemEmails(false); assertFalse(a.acceptedSystemEmails(), "System Emails is not false."); } }
