For Silverlight 4 did TemplatedControl replace UserControl? Because when I goto add a new item in Visual Studio 2010 that is the only thing that closely resembles a user control in the dialog?
Here's a simple function. Compiling this code using the CSharpCodeProvider fails but it works when I attempt to reproduce the problem using Visual studion. The error I get is "unable to implicitly convert uint? to uint". Any ideas ?
public static Boolean Func1()
{
UInt32? x = 0;
UInt32? y = 0;
return x == (UInt32?)0;
}
OK, i have a strange problem. I have this piece of code:
int *p;
int test;
p=&test;
In Visual C++ express, in my exsisting project, I get this error:
missing type specifier - int assumed.
'p' : 'int' differs in levels of indirection from 'char *'
'initializing' : cannot convert from 'char *' to 'int'
But when i create new project, same code is fine. Whats the problem please?
I need to add a device driver to a Windows CE image, I have the driver in .dll and .reg files and in a .cab package.
I'm using Visual Studio 2005 with Platform Builder for Windows CE 6.0.
How can I do that?
I'm attempting to use the Ctrl+R, Ctrl+R command within Visual Studio 2008 to rename a variable. I get an error message at the bottom saying that
"The key combination (Ctrl+R, Ctrl+R) is bound to command (&Rename...) which is not currently available."
I am not running it or anything I can think of which might prohibit modifications of the file and the F2 command allows a rename to happen. Anyone know how to fix this?
Is there any way to enable debugging from within the Windows Forms Designer in Visual Studio (any version, up to and including 2010)?
What I mean is, say I have some custom user control, and this control has certain validation that it performs when I set a particular property. I'd like to be able to set a breakpoint somewhere within that code, and step through it to see what happens when I set the property from the designer.
Visual Studio 2010 has official Extensions for SharePoint 2010, which also includes MSBUILD .targets.
I'm setting up a Continuous Integration Server at the moment, and msbuild can't compile my SharePoint projects as these targets are missing.
Before I start manually identifying and copying over the SP stuff, I wonder if there is a standalone version so that I don't have to install VS2010 on my CI Server?
How do I close SQL Server output subwindow which appears when I run a T-SQL script from inside Visual Studio 2010? It neither has nay kind of control buttons like [x] or[-=] visible, nor any other obvious means of closing.
Hi!
I've done my TreeView all with XAML but now I'd like to manage an event with code-behind. The HierarchicalDataTemplate contains an Image. I need to capture the events MouseEnter / MouseLeave on the Image. I've tried in this way:
<Image x:Name="imgArticolo" Source="{Binding imgArt}">
<Image.Style>
<Style TargetType="{x:Type Image}">
<EventSetter Event="MouseEnter" Handler="iArt_MouseEnter"/>
</Style>
</Image.Style>
</Image>
But in the designer of Visual Studio appear the error: "Impossible to load a file XAML with EventSetter".
How can I remedy?
Thank you!

I'm coding an advanced web browser. The bad thing is, is that whenever you move your cursor over the window, a wait cursor is displayed. I tried to deselect the wait cursor but it doesn't work!
I'm using Visual Basic 2010 Beta 2...
Please help!!
I have a solution in Visual studio containing a winform project(WinProj) and a deployment project for WinProj.
I added to the deployment project the primary output from WinProj. Does it be compiled in Debug or Release mode?
I am asking because in the WinProj code I have conditional precompiler statements
#if DEBUG
throw;
#endif
will or not be considered this code in the setup project?
I'm using the config file replacement feature of Visual Studio 2010's "Publish" functionality, as described in this article. I want to automate this using MSBuild/Hudson. Does anybody know how to do this?
I like how it works but if I cannot automate it I'll have to switch to XmlMassUpdate or similar.
I have found and installed the visual basic mode for emacs. It seems to be loading on emacs startup and the VB mode loads when I open a *.bas file. The code is not highlighted at all, however.
I'm using Emacs23, tried it with 21 and saw no difference.
Background for the curious: I am rewriting a set of codes from VB to Python. The syntax highlighting will make it much easier for me to see what's going on.
In Visual Studio 2008 I see hundreds of errors within my web app. If I open the offending page(s) within VS, I'll see dozens of items underlined in red - then the errors resolve themselves.
Any idea why this happens and how to resolve it?
When creating a mixed mode class, on compilation the header file complains that it needs to be complied with the /clr switch as it is a mixed mode class, however, I can't see any option to specifically compile that header with /clr from visual studio, and I don't want to set the entire project with a /clr flag,
Does anyone know how I can specify that this header file is compiled correctly with /clr?
Thanks in advance!
I am trying to debug a minidump crash dump. How can I get to know the OS so that I may download related Microsoft Symbols?
I am using Visual studio and windbg.
(Can't believe this hasn't already been asked, but I can't find a dup)
In Visual Studio with lots of projects, when I first open the solution, I sometimes get the warning Object of type "X" cannot be converted to object of type "X". Generally rebuilding seems to make it go away, but does anyone know what this is caused by, and how to avoid it?
UPDATE I read somewhere that deleting all your resx files and rebuilding can help. I unthinkingly tried this. Not a good idea...
I'm load testing a web page using visual studio load testing tool, but I have problems displaying results. The problem is cookieless session. Everytime new user comes to a page, page URLL changes and I'm not able to calculate average page response time. What can be done about it?
I'm using MEF with my Silverlight 4 app to dynamically load xap files. To optimize this process, I've removed various assemblies from my xaps since I know they've already been loaded by the base xap. This reduces the size of my dynamically loaded xaps. I accomplished this by setting the "Copy Local" flag for each assembly reference to "false".
This all seems to work fine when I build in Visual Studio 2010 - my xaps are much smaller. However, when the same projects are built by the build server, all the excluded references are once again in the xap file hence tripling the size of the xap.
I've read several blogs/articles regarding similar experiences but no resolution. Very frustrating - any help is appreciated.
I have a standard MSI being created using Visual Studio 2008.
Is there any way that I can have it copy the symbols of the exact DLLs and EXEs that were placed into the MSI somewhere so that I can use them for remote debugging of an installation from that MSI?
I'm using Crystal Report with VB.NET in Visual Studio 2005.
I have report that works if I pass in a list of List(Of Stuff). I had been sorting the report by one of the members of Stuff but a need now to sort first by one member, like Stuff.StatusCode and then by another member, like Stuff.ItemNumber.
Can I do this just be having more than one SortField member, or do I need to do it some other way?
Thanks as always!
HI everyone,
Just looking for a website or pdf reference which has a color palette of the .NET (Visual Studio 2008) foreground colors? (E.g. like AliceBlue, AntiqueWhite, Cyan....)
Hi,
sometimes after logging out and in again, my settings in Tools/Options/Projects and Solutions/VC++ Directories are lost.
To investigate the problem I tried to find the file where Visual Studio (2008 Team) stores those settings on disk. (Or is it in the registry?) Can anybody point me to where it is?
Thanks a lot!
