• Save .mov file with applescript

  I've installed the Perian addon for Quicktime so it can open .flv files, and then I can save them as .m4v or .mov. I'm trying to make an Applescript to convert from .flv to .m4v automatically by using this tutorial and butchering their example applescript file, which normally converts ChemDraw files (.cdx, .cml, .mol) to .tiff, so that it instead uses Quicktime to save the .flv files as .m4v. When I try to use it, though, I get an error "QuickTime Player got an error: document 1 doesn't understand the save message". My save message is currently: save first document in target_path as ".m4v" which looks like the QuickTime dictionary's instructions: save specifier : The document(s) or window(s) to save. [as saveable file format] : The file format to use. I've also tried "m4v", without the period, and still get the error. Is my Save direction wrong, or is it probably an error from trying to use Quicktime instead of the original ChemDraw? I tried to change references to .cdx, .cml, .mol, .tiff, and ChemDraw to .flv, .m4v, and QuickTime respectively, but maybe it's more complicated than that? I would, in fact, appreciate any example showing how to save an application file (ex: a TextEdit .rtf or .txt), as I can't seem to get any kind of file to save using applescript.

• Best algorithm for recursive adjacent tiles?

  In my game I have a set of tiles placed in a 2D array marked by their Xs and Zs ([1,1],[1,2], etc). Now, I want a sort of "Paint Bucket" mechanism: Selecting a tile will destroy all adjacent tiles until a condition stops it, let's say, if it hits an object with hasFlag. Resolve Work Items When Pushing Mercurial Changes Another feature we added is the ability to resolve work items when push changes to your Mercurial repository, which has been available to our TFS / SVN users for quite some time.   A colleague and I were brainstorming about where to put the responsibility of an object to store itself on the disk in our own file format. There are basically two choices: object.store(file) fileformatWriter.store(object) The first one gives the responsibility of serialization on the disk to the object itself. This is similar to the approach used by python pickle. The second groups the representation responsibility on a file format writer object. The data object is just a plain data container (eventually with additional methods not relevant for storage). We agreed on the second methodology, because it centralizes the writing logic from generic data. We also have cases of objects implementing complex logic that need to store info while the logic is in progress. For these cases, the fileformatwriter object can be passed and used as a delegate, calling storage operations on it. With the first pattern, the complex logic object would instead accept the raw file, and implement the writing logic itself. The first method, however, has the advantage that the object knows how to write and read itself from any file containing it, which may also be convenient. I would like to hear your opinion before starting a rather complex refactoring.

• Story of success: MySQL Enterprise Backup (MEB) was successfully integrated with IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) via System Backup to Tape (SBT) interface.

  Since version 3.6 MEB supports backups to tape through the SBT interface.The officially supported tool for such backups to tape is Oracle Secure Backup (OSB).But there are a lot of other Storage Managers. MEB allows to use them through the SBT interface. Since version 3.7 it also has option --sbt-environment which allows to pass environment variables, not needed by OSB, to third-party managers. At the same time MEB can not guarantee it would work with all of them.This month we were contacted by a customer who wanted to use IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) with MEB. We could only say them same thing I wrote in previous paragraph: this solution is supposed to work, but you have to be pioneers of this technology. And they agreed. They agreed to be the pioneers and so the story begins.MEB requires following options to be specified by those who want to connect it to SBT interface:--sbt-database-name: a name which should be handed over to SBT interface. This can be any name. Default, MySQL, works for most cases, so user is not required to specify this option.--sbt-lib-path: path to SBT library. For TSM this library comes with "Data Protection for Oracle", which, in its turn, interfaces with Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN), which uses SBT interface. So you need to install it even if you don't use Oracle.--sbt-environment: environment for third-party manager. This option is not needed when you use OSB, but almost always necessary for third-party SBT managers. TSM requires variable TDPO_OPTFILE to be set and point to the TSM configuration file.--backup-image=sbt:: path to the image. • Automatically create bug resolution task using the TFS 2010 API

  My customer requires bug resolution to be approved and tracked.  To minimize the overhead for developers I implemented a TFS 2010 server-side plug-in to automatically create a child resolution task for the bug when the “CCB” field is set to approved. The CCB field is a custom field.  I also added the story points field to the bug WIT for sizing purposes. Redundant tasks will not be created unless the bug title is changed or the prior task is closed. The program writes an audit trail to a log file visible in the TFS Admin Console Log view. • Sending an email with attachment from server side

  I have to create a word document in a specific format and send it as attachment to some email addresses. I have a preview screen for the report which on approval has to be send in email. This is an ASP.NET MVC 3 application. I am left with a few options here. I am creating the preview using html. I can convert this html into doc and send it, which would be a straight solution. But capturing the Response object's output is being a tough job. I thought of using Mail merge functionality of MS word, where I'll be filling the placeholders of the doc template. But the problem is conceptually, it doesn't appear to be mail merge. I have found someone suggesting to use RTF format and replace the placeholders with database values. Which is the right thing to do? What's the best solution here? Is there any other option than the three listed above?

Also, I only get this using primusrun. optirun gives the same error no matter what I run: [VGL] NOTICE: Pixel format of 2D X server does not match pixel format of [VGL] Pbuffer. Disabling PBO readback. I don't know what either of these mean. Neither of them stop the programs from running, but I'd like to fix the problem if there is one. Also, I prefer to use primusrun because it is faster and it does a better job with vertical sync, however, it only supports OGL 4.2. This isn't a big issue because the programs I write are forward compatible, but it still seems odd to me. So basically I'd just like it if someone could explain to me what is happening and if there is something I can do about it. Thanks.

For each mesh, I set an integer constant evaluator, which is its material index.   Some days ago I cloned my /dev/sda1 partition with clonezilla in partition-to-partition mode to /dev/sda3. It worked, but now that I've finished the setup of system in /dev/sda3, I wanna reinstall /dev/sda1 for other stuffs. This partition is NOT mounted, but ubuntu's DISK UTILITY thinks it is, while it doesn't see as mounted the currently active / partition /dev/sda3. This is the df- TH output : Filesystem Type Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda3 ext4 32G 6.2G 24G 21% / udev devtmpfs 2.2G 13k 2.2G 1% /dev tmpfs tmpfs 845M 906k 844M 1% /run none tmpfs 5.3M 0 5.3M 0% /run/lock none tmpfs 2.2G 115k 2.2G 1% /run/shm /dev/sdb1 fuseblk 321G 147G 174G 46% /Dati Gparted instead, sees /dev/sda1 as NOT mounted (checked with Information option), but it display the BOOT flag on this partition, while the real booted partition /dev/sda3, hasn't it.   Possible Duplicate: Install/running ubuntu on extarnal HDD with a windows laptop? Ill take you through the steps I did. Sorry if this question has already been resolved, I'm new to Ubuntu and forums in general. I have 2 internal HDDs in my computer, both with Win7. One HDD is my mothers, the other is mine. I did this because she didn't want my games on her computer, and my PCs motherboard took a crap on me, so I set up a dual boot. I also have an external HDD. This is what I am trying to install Ubuntu 12.04 on. I formatted the drive by right clicking it, then selecting "Format". It is now in NTSF format. I downloaded the Windows installer, ran it, and selected "I:/" (my externl hdd) as the install location. The download and installation ran smoothly, and it gave me the reboot prompt. I selected "Reboot now" and my PC rebooted. I was then interrupted by the "Bootmgr is missing. Press CTRL + ALT + DEL TO REBOOT" message. NOTE: I would like to use my HDD for a FULL Ubuntu installation, not the Live (i think thats what its called). I want all my files and settings from Ubuntu saved to the External drive as if it was my only drive. If you need more information just ask. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

• How do I remove a LOT of indexed pages from Google?

  A few weeks ago we have figured out that Google has indexed some information we would rather keep in some confidentiality, in the format of individual PDF files. Our assumption was that this was a problem with our robots.txt we had overlooked. Even though we are not sure whether or not this is the case, we are certain that the robots.txt file is in a valid format and is, according to Google's webmaster tools, blocking the files. However, even after this adjustment that has been made weeks ago, Google still has the PDF files indexed, but does tell us further information cannot be provided due to the robots.txt file being present. As you can hopefully understand, this is unwanted behaviour due to the nature of the documents. I am aware that there is a request page being provided by Google for this purpose, but there are a lot of files. Is there an easier way to get Google to remove all of the files from its search engine? If not, is there anything else you could advise us to do besides manually requesting Google to remove every single page? Thanks in advance.

  CE 7 introduces a new boot loader framework, BLDR (platform\common\src\common\bldr\). Some people like its powerful and flexbility, others may feel its too complicate as a boot loader framework. Despite to the favor, it is already there; so let's take a look at its features. Unlike the previous BL framwork (CE7 still provides it in platform\common\src\common\boot\) is a monolithic library, the new framework has more architecture structure. It not only defines main body but also provides rich components, such as filesystem (BinFS/FAT), download transportations, display, logging and block devices: bios INT13, FAL, IDE, Flash ( and etc. Note that in the block device category, the FAL is for legacy FMD/FAL, Flash is for latest MSFlash. Some of you may have encountered MSFlash MDD/PDD compatible partition is hard to created in bootloader and now it provides a clean solution! (Since this is a big topic, I will introduce it in future post) Today, I am going to show you some basic helper components - Image Loading functions. When OS image stored in the block device, it can be a file format, says your NK.BIN in the FAT volume or a RAW format, says the image is programmed to a BINFS partition. For the first one you can use BootFileSystemReadBinFile (platform\common\src\common\bldr\fileSystem\utils\fileSystemReadBinFile.c) and use BootBlockLoadBinFsImage (platform\common\src\common\bldr\block\utils\loadBinFs.c) to load from a partition.   I'm playing lately with an XSL-FO for generating a pdf documents. XSL-FO has a long list of available tags and attributes, which for a new guy who want to create a simple document is a nightmare to find a proper one. Fortunatelly we can set an schema for XSL-FO, so will result in acquire a full intellisense in VS.   I know this has been discussed over and over but I still cannot run Ubuntu on a USB stick. Here's the step I followed: 1. I downloaded Ubuntu 12.10 (ubuntu-12.10-desktop-i386.iso) from http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop which I renamed 'ubuntu.iso'. I bought my Mac mid-2010, it has an Intel processor. 2. I opened a terminal and typed: hdiutil convert -format UDRW -o ~/Downloads/ubuntu.img ~/Downloads/ubuntu.iso It created ubuntu.iso.dmg 4. I ran 'diskutil list' and identified the device node assigned to the USB. 5. I unmounted it: diskutil unmountDisk /dev/disk2 6. Then, I entered the command: sudo dd if=~/Downloads/ubuntu.img.dmg of=/dev/rdisk2 bs=1m. It seemed to work. A Mac message poped up saying that the system doesn't recognized the disk, I pressed 'ignore'. 7. I ejected the USB using diskutil eject /dev/disk2, then removed the USB. 8. I rebooted the computer, plugged the USB key, pressed ALT.I could see my Macintosh partition and my Windows partition, but couldn't see my USB stick. Any help will be very appreciated :) Victor
