• Should I always call Page.IsValid in ASP.NET WebForms C#?

  I know to never trust user input, since undesirable input could be compromise the application's integrity in some way, be it accidental or intentional; however, is there a case for calling Page.IsValid even when no validation controls are on the page (again, I know its bad practice to be trusting user input by omitting validation)? Does Page.IsValid perform any other kinds of validation? I looked at MSDN, and the docs seem to suggest that Page.IsValid is only effective if there are validation controls on the page, or the Page.Validate method has been called. A friend of mine suggested that I always check Page.IsValid in the button click handlers every time even if there are no validation controls or explicit Page.Validate calls. Thanks for any advice!

Still get this error: txtBox is null txtBox.focus(); The last line isn't working. After I create the textbox, I can't set focus to it. Is there any way of doing so?

• Flex 3 Regular Expression Problem

  I've written a url validator for a project I am working on. For my requirements it works great, except when the last part for the url goes longer than 22 characters it breaks. My expression: /((https?):\/\/)([^\s.]+.)+([^\s.]+)(:\d+\/\S+)/i It expects input that looks like "http(s)://hostname:port/location". When I give it the input: https://demo10:443/111112222233333444445 it works, but if I pass the input https://demo10:443/1111122222333334444455 it breaks. You can test it out easily at http://ryanswanson.com/regexp/#start. Oddly, I can't reproduce the problem with just the relevant (I would think) part /(:\d+\/\S+)/i. I can have as many characters after the required / and it works great. Any ideas or known bugs?

• Codeigniter form action with slashes instead of normal GETs?

  Hey, so this is one of those questions that seems obvious, and I'm probably going to feel stupid, but here goes: I'm doing a CodeIgniter site with a search. Think of a Google type input, where you'd search for "white huskies." I have a search results page that takes a URI (MySite.com/dogs/white huskies), and takes the third part, and performs the search on that term. I'd like this to be done in the URI, and no by POST so my users can bookmark results. The problem I'm having is how to get that search button directed to Mysite.com/dogs/WHATEVER IS IN THE INPUT. How do I get the what is in the input part into the anchor href? I know I could do this with javascript, but I've heard it's bad practice to force people to have javascript for things this small. • What is the standard way to parse floats at runtime in C?

  Hello, I have a scientific application for which I want to input initial values at runtime. I have an option to get them from the command line, or to get them from an input file. Either of these options are input to a generic parser that uses strtod to return a linked list of initial values for each simulation run. I either use the command-line argument or getline() to read the values. The question is, should I be rolling my own parser, or should I be using a parser-generator or some library? What is the standard method? This is the only data I will read at runtime, and everything else is set at compile time (except for output files and a few other totally simple things). Thanks, Joel

  Hi, I have an application in which I need to pass an array from C# to a C++ DLL. What is the best method to do it? I did some search on Internet and figured out that I need to pass the arrays from C# using ref. The code for the same: status = IterateCL(ref input, ref output); The input and output arrays are of length 20. and the corresponding code in C++ DLL is IterateCL(int *&inArray, int *&outArray) This works fine for once. But if I try to call the function from C# in a loop the second time, the input array in C# is showing up as an array of one element. • Ajax basic email code without reloading page

  I have in a previous Q found out that I need an ajax-function to send an email (submit a contact form) without reloading the page. This is for my classifieds website, where when users are viewing a classified they have the option to "tip a friend" by entering their friends email-adress and submitting the form. But I don't want to reload the page, that would be frustrating and not so clever. The only input in the form is a text input which will contain the email-adress to send to, and another hidden input which contains the classified_id nr, to identify which classified it is. The website is php based btw... Does anybody have a simple script for this? I have no experience in Ajax at all... And would really appreciate it. Thanks PS: Would prefer no Jquery, due to clients own reasons...

The real data here is that "Offshore" has an id of "41393". From the Telerik code I get the span-element with class"t-in", but I'm unable to get the ID-value from it. • Subtracting Delphi Time Ranges from a Date Range, Calculate Remaining Time

  I'm looking for an algorithm that will help calculate a workday working time length. It would have an input date range and then allow subtracting partially or completely intersecting time range slices from that date range and the result would be the number of minutes (or the fraction/multiple of a day) left in the original date range, after subtracting out the various non-working time slices. For Example: Input date range: 1/4/2010 11:21 am - 1/5/2010 3:00 pm Subtract out any partially or completely intersecting slices like this: Remove all day Sunday Non-Sundays remove 11:00 - 12:00 Non-Sundays remove time after 5:00 pm Non-Sundays remove time before 8:00 am Non-Sundays remove time 9:15 - 9:30 am Output: # of minutes left in the input date range I don't need anything overly-general. I could hardcode the rules to simplify the code. If anyone knows of sample code or a library/function somewhere, or has some pseudo-code ideas, I'd love something to start with. I didn't see anything in DateUtils, for example. Even a basic function that calculates the number of minutes of overlap in two date ranges to subtract out would be a good start.

  The output from MongoDB's map/reduce includes something like 'counts': {'input': I, 'emit': E, 'output': O}. I thought I clearly understand what those mean, until I hit a weird case which I can't explain. According to my understanding, counts.input is the number of rows that match the condition (as specified in query). If so, how is it possible that the following two queries have different results? db.mycollection.find({MY_CONDITION}).count() db.mycollection.mapReduce(SOME_MAP, SOME_REDUCE, {'query': {MY_CONDITION}}).counts.input I thought the two should always give the same result, independent of the map and reduce functions, as long as the same condition is used.
