• which collaborative tools do you use to communicate between team members [closed]

  I work for a small company and would like to set up some sort of a collaborative tool so that team members can share thoughts, upload documents...something like sharepoint maybe, but not that suffisticated. Only good option I've seen so far is joomla CMS. Just want to get an opinion of the community on which tools they have used for these purposes.   basically i need to write a query for mysql, but i have no experience in this and i cant find good tutorials on the old tinternet. i have a table called rels with columns "hosd_id" "linkedhost_id" "text link" and a table called hostlist with columns "id" "hostname" all i am trying to achieve is a query which outputs the "hostname" and "linked_id" when "host_id" is equal to "id" any help or pointers on syntax or code would be helpfull, or even a good mysql query guide

• Complementary language to learn after Python?

  As a reasonable proficient Python programmer, I'm wondering what a good second language to learn would be. More specifically, something that does well the things that Python doesn't in general do as well. My first guess would be C/C++ since it's got easy extensibility with Python and because it offers generally better performance, but I'm wondering if Java or C# might be a better or at least equivalently good option with different up/downsides compared to C/C++.

  We are running the uclibc linux on ARM 9. The problem is uclibc doesn't support backtrace. When core-dump happen, cannot grap the call stack. Anyone has good solution on that?   .NET provides a great library for working with SMTP for sending messages, however, there is not an implementation of a Pop3 client, or IMAP client for working with receiving e-mail from a mail host. Does anyone know of a good component that can provide Pop, IMAP, or both support? I know that code project has implementations, but from my experience finding a "good" one is hard.

• Is iptables enough security, if port 80 is the only unblocked port and apache is setup correctly?

  We are using PHP,MySQL,SVN, and Apache. I want to know if I assume the local subnet trusted, and allow all ports on our subnet using iptables, then allow only port 80 as open to "anyone". If it is "good security" taking that the subnet is trusted as a premise. This is also assuming good PHP code etc, and that apache is configured correctly. This is using CentOS 5.
