  • UIAlertViewDelegate clickedButtonAtIndex: usefulness?

    - by Ed Marty
The UIAlertViewDelegate protocol defines two methods, alertView:clickedButtonAtIndex: and alertView:didDismissWithButtonIndex:, which seem to me to be identical in usefulness. Why is there a clickedButtonAtIndex and a didDismissButtonWithIndex when they both do the same thing? I realize there is also a willDismissButtonWithIndex that happens before the alert view is dismissed, but is there any reason to use clickedButtonAtIndex instead of didDismissButtonWithIndex?

  • Delphi getting property value of a member from ClassType

    - by Kayode Yusuf
I am implementing a Boilerplate feature - allow users to Change descriptions of some components - like Tlabels - at run time. e.g. TFooClass = Class ( TBaseClass) Label : Tlabel; ... End; Var FooClass : TFooClass; ... At Design time, the value Label's caption property is say - 'First Name', when the application is run, there is a feature that allows the user to change the caption value to say 'Other Name'. Once this is changed, the caption for the label for the class instance of FooClass is updated immediately. The problem now is if the user for whatever reason wants to revert back to the design time value of say 'First Name' , it seems impossible. I can use the RTTIContext methods and all that but I at the end of the day, it seems to require the instance of the class for me to change the value and since this has already being changed - I seem to to have hit a brick wall getting around it. My question is this - is there a way using the old RTTI methods or the new RTTIContext stuff to the property of a class' member without instantiating the class - i.e. getting the property from the ClassType definition. This is code snippet of my attempt at doing that : c : TRttiContext; z : TRttiInstanceType; w : TRttiProperty; Aform : Tform; .... Begin ..... Aform := Tform(FooClass); for vCount := 0 to AForm.ComponentCount-1 do begin vDummyComponent := AForm.Components[vCount]; if IsPublishedProp(vDummyComponent,'Caption') then begin c := TRttiContext.Create; try z := (c.GetType(vDummyComponent.ClassInfo) as TRttiInstanceType); w := z.GetProperty('Caption'); if w <> nil then Values[vOffset, 1] := w.GetValue(vDummyComponent.ClassType).AsString ..... ..... .... .... I am getting all sorts of errors and any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • How can I cancel Drag and Drop operation in Java/Swing programmatically?

    - by AlexV
I am just wondering if it's possible to I cancel "Drag and Drop" operation in Java/Swing programmatically? So the effect would be similar to if the user pressed the "ESC" key? I was expecting DragSourceDragEvent or DragSourceContext to have a cancelDrag() method, similar to DropTargetDragEvent which has acceptDrag() and rejectDrag() methods (both of which does not do what I want). I am missing something?

  • Execute method on startup in spring

    - by Javi
Hello, Is there any Spring 3 feature to execute some methods when the application starts for the first time? I know that I can do the trick of setting a method with @Scheduled annotation and it executes just after the startup, but then it will execute periodically. Thanks.

  • Does Hibernate always need a setter when there is a getter?

    - by Marcus
We have some Hibernate getter methods annotated with both @Column and @Basic. We get an exception if we don't have the corresponding setter. Why is this? In our case we are deriving the value returned from the getter (to get stored in the DB) and the setter has no functional purpose. So we just have an empty method to get around the error condition..

  • Using Javascript, How do I bring an already existing open window to the front on top of other window

    - by user268249
The question was fairly descriptive but I'll describe it further. Basically, I have Window1, clicking a button link opens window2. Clicking a button in window2 opens window3, clicking a button in window3 should bring window2 back to the front of the screen on top of window2. I'm not sure how this is exactly done, however I have used and played around with focus(), opener and other various methods and I cannot seem to get it to work properly. Thanks for any help in advance!

  • iPhone init method return type

    - by William Jockusch
Suppose we are writing a class (let's call it Class) in an iPhone program. In all the samples out there, the init methods are typically declared like this: -(id) initWithFoo: (Foo *) foo My question is: would it be more logical to do the following? Why or why not? -(Class *) initWithFoo: (Foo *) foo

  • Assign to a slice of a Python list from a lambda

    - by Bushman
I know that there are certain "special" methods of various objects that represent operations that would normally be performed with operators (i.e. int.__add__ for +, object.__eq__ for ==, etc.), and that one of them is list.__setitem, which can assign a value to a list element. However, I need a function that can assign a list into a slice of another list. Basically, I'm looking for the expression equivalent of some_list[2:4] = [2, 3].

  • Advanced count and join in Rails

    - by trobrock
    I am try to find the top n number of categories as they relate to articles, there is a habtm relationship set up between the two. This is the SQL I want to execute, but am unsure of how to do this with ActiveRecord, aside from using the find_by_sql method. is there any way of doing this with ActiveRecord methods: SELECT "categories".id, "categories".name, count("articles".id) as counter FROM "categories" JOIN "articles_categories" ON "articles_categories".category_id = "categories".id JOIN "articles" ON "articles".id = "articles_categories".article_id GROUP BY "categories".id ORDER BY counter DESC LIMIT 5;

  • How to catch an exception and email information about it in liferay portlet

    - by heikkim
I have a custom portlet made for liferay and sometimes it throws an exception. Why it throws exceptions is irrelevant. How to catch exceptions thrown by portlet handler methods in order to email information about them? I know I could do try catching on every handler method but it would be a much more elegant and cleaner solution to catch the exception on a higher level and just email some information about the error. I'm using Spring Portlet MVC, so i got all spring-related niceties at hand.

  • How can I make a single WCF method ConcurrencyMode.Multiple when service is ConcurencyMode.Single

    - by Michael Hedgpeth
I have a service which is defined as ConcurrencyMode.Single: [ServiceBehavior(ConcurrencyMode = ConcurrencyMode.Single, UseSynchronizationContext = false, InstanceContextMode = InstanceContextMode.PerSession, IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults = true)] public class MyService : IMyService This service provides a method to tell the client what it's currently working on: [OperationContract] string GetCurrentTaskDescription(); Is there a way to make this particular method allowable while another long-running task is running where all other methods still follow the single-threaded concurrency model?

  • Migrating from jQuery to Prototype

    - by Craig Gardner
I'm starting to write code using Prototype coming from a jQuery background. Is there any chart that shows the prototype equivalent method to use in place of specific jQuery methods? More specifically, I'm looking for a $('#my-id').prepend('some stuff') equivalent in prototype?

  • Existing parsers in c# (BSD license or similar)

    - by Sylverdrag
I am looking for parsers (in C#) for a bunch of formats. (PHP, ASP, some XML based formats, HTML,...pretty much anything I can get my hands on.) The purpose is to separate the text from the code and do some edits without messing up the code. I had a look at ANTLR, but while it seems like the "right tool", there is just too much prior knowledge assumed. I have an easier time writing a parser from scratch than understanding how to "easily" generate parsers from ANTLR. (I wrote a small parser for a specific type of RTF files within a couple days, so the task is probably within my reach, but as I have no formal knowledge of parsing/lexing, I am at loss with ANTLR) Then it occurred to me that there must existing parsers for many formats, so before I start writing yet another a brand new and potentially buggy version of the wheel, I figured I would check what parsers already exist and can be reused in a commercial product. I could use parsers for just about every format in existence, so this question would be a good place to make a list of all existing free parsers written in C#, if there are any. Thanks in advance for your suggestions

  • interactive lua: command line arguments

    - by mr calendar
I wish to do lua prog.lua arg1 arg2 from the command line Inside prog.lua, I want to say, for instance print (arg1, arg2, '\n') Lua doesn't seem to have argv[1] etc and the methods I've seen for dealing with command line arguments seem to be immature and / or cumbersome. Am I missing something?

  • JavaScript method to write to Microsoft Visual Web Developer Debugger?

    - by Josh
I generally test my web apps with Firefox and use Firebug. I love Firebug. But when I'm testing JavaScript code in IE I use the debugger in Microsoft's Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition. I would love to have an equivalent to Firebug's console.log methods which would allow me to log messages to Visual Web Developer. Any way to log messages to the error list/messages list/output pane using JavaScript?
