  • HtmlHelperExtensions are not visible in view mvc3 asp.net

    - by user1299372
    I've added a class for the HTML Custom Extensions: using System; using System.Linq.Expressions; using System.Text; using System.Web.Mvc; using System.Web.Mvc.Html; namespace App.MvcHtmlHelpers { public static class HtmlHelperExtensions { public static MvcHtmlString ComboBox(HtmlHelper html, string name, SelectList items, string selectedValue) { var sb = new StringBuilder(); sb.Append(html.DropDownList(name + "_hidden", items, new { @style = "width: 200px;", @onchange = "$('input#" + name + "').val($(this).val());" })); sb.Append(html.TextBox(name, selectedValue, new { @style = "margin-left: -199px; width: 179px; height: 1.2em; border: 0;" })); return MvcHtmlString.Create(sb.ToString()); } public static MvcHtmlString ComboBoxFor<TModel, TProperty>(HtmlHelper<TModel> html, Expression<Func<TModel, TProperty>> expression, SelectList items) { var me = (MemberExpression)expression.Body; var name = me.Member.Name; var sb = new StringBuilder(); sb.Append(html.DropDownList(name + "_hidden", items, new { @style = "width: 200px;", @onchange = "$('input#" + name + "').val($(this).val());" })); sb.Append(html.TextBoxFor(expression, new { @style = "margin-left: -199px; width: 179px; height: 1.2em; border: 0;" })); return MvcHtmlString.Create(sb.ToString()); } I've also registered it in my site web config: <namespaces> <add namespace="System.Web.Helpers" /> <add namespace="System.Web.Mvc" /> <add namespace="System.Web.Mvc.Ajax" /> <add namespace="System.Web.Mvc.Html" /> <add namespace="System.Web.Routing" /> <add namespace="System.Web.WebPages" /> <add namespace="App.MvcHtmlHelpers"/> </namespaces> In my view, I import the namespace: <%@ Import Namespace="RSPWebApp.MvcHtmlHelpers" %> But when I go to call it in the view, it doesn't recognize the custom extension. Can someone help me by telling me what I might have missed? Thanks so much in advance! <%:Html.ComboBoxFor(a => a.Street2, streetAddressListItems) %

  • Alternatives to JSP for Spring MVC view layer

    - by digitaljoel
I'm looking to create a new app from scratch and will probably use Spring MVC and possibly Spring Web Flow. The projects created by Spring Roo use Spring MVC and optionally Web Flow. What are some good alternatives for view technology, or is JSP with spring and jstl taglibs and jquery the way to go?

  • Overllaping view elements

    - by rantravee
Hi, Here's the problem I'm facing : I've got a custom slider that controlls the volume and a label "volume" that I combine together in a liniar Layout to obtain a volume control setting. In the emulator and on a G1 phone these look pretty ok , however , when put on a Xperia mini the label and the slider overlap . What should I do obtain a decent view independent of the device the application runs ?

  • sql generate unique table/view name

    - by Claudiu
I want to create some mad robust code. I want to take a query as a string, create a temporary view / table to store the results, use it, then drop the table. I want to use a name that is guaranteed to not already exist in the database. Is there an SQL command to generate a unique table name? I'm using postgresql if this is implementation-specific.

  • Class name to view path

    - by Alexey Poimtsev
Hi, I have a RoR application and model SomeModel. I have views for this model and I want to know - is there any method to get the view's path? Of course I can use for this model instance m = SomeModel.new v = m.class.class_name.pluralize.downcase It's working, but maybe you know a better way? :)

  • Is there a way to efficiently yield every file in a directory containing millions of files?

    - by Josh Smeaton
I'm aware of os.listdir, but as far as I can gather, that gets all the filenames in a directory into memory, and then returns the list. What I want, is a way to yield a filename, work on it, and then yield the next one, without reading them all into memory. Is there any way to do this? I worry about the case where filenames change, new files are added, and files are deleted using such a method. Some iterators prevent you from modifying the collection during iteration, essentially by taking a snapshot of the state of the collection at the beginning, and comparing that state on each move operation. If there is an iterator capable of yielding filenames from a path, does it raise an error if there are filesystem changes (add, remove, rename files within the iterated directory) which modify the collection? There could potentially be a few cases that could cause the iterator to fail, and it all depends on how the iterator maintains state. Using S.Lotts example: filea.txt fileb.txt filec.txt Iterator yields filea.txt. During processing, filea.txt is renamed to filey.txt and fileb.txt is renamed to filez.txt. When the iterator attempts to get the next file, if it were to use the filename filea.txt to find it's current position in order to find the next file and filea.txt is not there, what would happen? It may not be able to recover it's position in the collection. Similarly, if the iterator were to fetch fileb.txt when yielding filea.txt, it could look up the position of fileb.txt, fail, and produce an error. If the iterator instead was able to somehow maintain an index dir.get_file(0), then maintaining positional state would not be affected, but some files could be missed, as their indexes could be moved to an index 'behind' the iterator. This is all theoretical of course, since there appears to be no built-in (python) way of iterating over the files in a directory. There are some great answers below, however, that solve the problem by using queues and notifications. Edit: The OS of concern is Redhat. My use case is this: Process A is continuously writing files to a storage location. Process B (the one I'm writing), will be iterating over these files, doing some processing based on the filename, and moving the files to another location. Edit: Definition of valid: Adjective 1. Well grounded or justifiable, pertinent. (Sorry S.Lott, I couldn't resist). I've edited the paragraph in question above.

  • Java: Is there a way to efficiently insert or remove many elements from the middle of a LinkedList?

    - by allyourcode
I was expecting to find this in Java's LinkedList, since the point of linked lists is to be able to efficiently insert (and remove) anywhere (assuming you have some kind of pointer to the location where you want to insert or remove). I'm not finding anything in the API though. Am I overlooking something? The closest thing I can find to this are the add and remove method in ListIterator. This has some limitations though. In particular, other iterators become invalid as soon as the underlying LinkedList is modified via remove, according to the API. This is born out in my tests as well; the following program results in a IllegalStateException: import java.util.*; public class RemoveFromLinkedList { public static void main(String[] args) { LinkedList<Integer> myList= new LinkedList<Integer>(); for (int i = 0; i < 10; ++i) { myList.add(i); } ListIterator<Integer> i1 = myList.listIterator(); ListIterator<Integer> i2 = myList.listIterator(); for (int i = 0; i < 3; ++i) { i1.next(); i2.next(); } System.out.println("i1.next() should be 3: " + i1.next()); i1.remove(); i1.remove(); // Exception! System.out.println("i2.next() should be 5: " + i2.next()); } } Ideally, what I'm expecting is something like this: // In my imagination only. This is the way Java actually works, afaict. // Construct two insertion/deletion points in LinkedList myLinkedList. myIterator = myLinkedList.iterator(); for (...) { myIterator.next(); } start = myIterator.clone(); for (...) { myIterator.next(); } // Later... after = myLinkedList.spliceAfter(myIterator, someOtherLinkedList); // start, myIterator, and after are still all valid; thus, I can do this: // Removes everything I just spliced in, as well as some other stuff before that. myLinkedList.remove(start, after); // Now, myIterator is invalid, but not start, nor after. C++ has something like this for its list class (template). Only iterators pointing to moved elements become invalidated, not ALL iterators.

  • Drop down view in cocoa

    - by coffeebean
I'm looking to create a 'drop down' view that falls in front of the main window. An example of this would be the window that drops down when you click 'Advanced' in System Preferences-Networking. If someone could point me in the right direction documentation-wise that would be great. Thanks in advance.

  • Setting column width in Table View

    - by Jeremy
I am having a hard time understanding how to change the width of columns when creating a table view. I know you can set the width in pixels of a column but that is not what I want to do. Say, for instance, I have 2 columns and want each column to take up half the screen. How do I do this without explicitly setting the pixels, so that my code can work on multiple screen sizes?
