  I need to ask a general question. I don't have the code in front of me because I'm writing this on my iPhone. I have a Class that represents a certain XML schema. I have a SPROC that returns this XML. What I need to do is deserialize the XML to this Class. XML: <xml> <person> <firstName>Bob</firstName> <lastName>Robby</lastName> </person> </xml> I need to deserialize this XML into the custom Person Class so I can loop through this Model and spit it out in the View. I'm sure there's some kind of casting involved, I just don't know how to do it.

  I want to calculate 2^n-1 for a 64bit integer value. What I currently do is this for(i=0; i<n; i++) r|=1<<i; and I wonder if there is more elegant way to do it. The line is in an inner loop, so I need it to be fast. I thought of r=(1ULL<<n)-1; but it doesn't work for n=64, because << is only defined for values of n up to 63.

• Basic PHP question for Drupal Views theming

  My PHP and programming knowledge is extremely basic, so this is probably a dumb question: I am theming a View in Drupal 6, and I want to add an id with a consecutive number to each item in the view (first item would have the id #item1, the second #item2, etc). I am customizing the style output (views-view-unformatted--MYVIEWNAME.tpl.php) and the row style output (views-view-fields--MYVIEWNAME.tpl.php), and I want to add a counter variable in the foreach loop in the style output tpl, and then use that variable in the row style output tpl, but the last one is not recognizing the variable. It does not give me any errors, but doesnt print the number. I understand this has probably something to do with variables visibility, how can I declare the counter variable in the style .tpl so I can the use it in the row style .tpl? Thank you

• Best way to reverse bitmap data that is upside down

  Hello, I have a method that I call and it returns bitmap data from a capture device. It returns a pointer to the buffer data as an IntPtr and the buffer length as an int. I know in advance that this bitmap is a 24bpp and its width and height. The problem is that the buffer contains the bitmap data upside down and I need this data to be in the right order (reverse it). What I do is create a for loop and using CopyMemory, I copy each line (stride) of this data from bottom to up to a newly allocated memory space. Is there any way to make it faster than creating more memory each time I receive a new frame? It makes the application get a bit slow and consumes more memory as each bitmap is pretty big. I do this because I use another component that analyses the bitmaps and it doesn't work propertly if the bitmaps are upside down. I'm using .net, c# thanks!

• Flash upload problems (FileReferenceList, timeouts, #2038 )

  Hello! I'm having problems with timeouts while trying to upload multiple files by using FileReferenceList. upload() is being called in a loop for all selected files on Event.SELECT event of FileReferenceList, but only 2 files are being uploaded simultaneously (I also see 2 opened sockets that are used for uploading by running netstat -aon | find "127.0.0.1:80"). If uploading of any file is not started in 60 seconds, I get a #2038 error. E.g., if I try to upload three large files (like 500MB each), first two uploads are started immediately, third one is not started (because limit is 2 simultaneous uploads) and it fails after 60 seconds with #2038 error (I'm fairly sure that this is because of timeout - tested it). This could be solved by calling upload() only when uploading previous file is completed, but I don't want to "hard-code" the number of possible simultaneous uploads (2 on my PC). Is there any way to get/set this number at runtime?

• django + xmppy: send a message to two recipients

  I'm trying to use xmpppy for sending jabber-messages from a django-website. This works entirely fine. However, the message only gets sent to the -first- of the recipients in the list. This happens when I run the following function from django, and also if I run it from an interactive python-shell. The weird part though, is that if I extract the -body- of the function and run that interactively, then all the recipients (there's just 2 at the moment) get the message. Also, I do know that the inner for-loop gets run the correct count times (2), because the print-statement does run twice, and return two different message-ids. • Sharing [config] data across modules,functions

  I have some configuration data in a config file that I read off disk when the app starts. I need to make that configuration data available to other functions/modules in the application. I started down the path of looking into ets/mnesia to store the data on startup to make it shared among all processes, but then my inner voice cautioned me that there must be a more functional, erlang-y way to do this. The only alternate approach I've come up with so far is setting up a module that has an actor loop that reads the data on startup and responds to messages like {Key, From} and responds by From ! {ok,Value}. • How to replace values in multi-valued ESE column?

  I have a multi-valued short ASCII text column in one of the tables in my ESE database, that holds the person's phone numbers. I have the new set of values, and I'd like to wipe the old values completely, and only use the new values. The JET_bitSetRevertToDefaultValue bit doesn't seem to work. While the MSDN documentation says "It causes the column to return the default column value on subsequent retrieve column operations. All existing column values are removed.", I found that it does nothing (no return value is returned). Or, is there an easy way to find out how many values does the column contain (this could be zero, e.g. when I'm doing an insertion, not update)? If it was, I could just run a loop from 'nValues' to 1, erasing the value by setting it to the null while providing the itagSequence value, to achieve what I want. I'm programming C#, and using the latest version of ManagedEsent library. Thanks in advance!

• Multiplying two matrices from two text files with unknown dimensions

  This is my first post here. I've been working on this c++ question for a while now and have gotten nowhere. Maybe you guys can give me some hints to get me started. My program has to read two .txt files each containing one matrix. Then it has to multiply them and output it to another .txt file. My confusion here though is how the .txt files are setup and how to get the dimensions. Here is an example of matrix 1.txt. #ivalue #jvalue value 1 1 1.0 2 2 1 The dimension of the matrix is 2x2. 1.0 0 0 1 Before I can start multiplying these matrices I need to get the i and j value from the text file. The only way I have found out to do this is int main() { ifstream file("a.txt"); int numcol; float col; for(int x=0; x<3;x++) { file>>col; cout<<col; if(x==1) //grabs the number of columns numcol=col; } cout<<numcol; } The problem is I don't know how to get to the second line to read the number of rows. But now I am running into another problem.   Here is my current code: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^example\.com [NC] #RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI}!^something RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^([^.]+)\.example\.com RewriteRule (.*) something/%1/$1 [QSA,L] My goal is to rewrite http://*.example.com/whatever to http://example.com/something/*/whatever, assuming * is the same for both and whatever is the same for both. However, I believe this is causing an infinite loop somehow, so I added that commented out line (RewriteBase is / btw), but if I uncomment then the entire site is a 500 response code. Without that line, only the subdomains error. What am I doing wrong, and how can I fix this? I have already configured the server so anything gets redirected to my public_html folder. EDIT: For clarification, I am trying to do an internal redirect, not external. EDIT: There is not a flag for internal redirect it seems. Is there any place I can see the actual error message for the broken rewriterule? If I knew what was wrong I would be able to stand a better chance of fixing it.

I have done a simple loop like so: foreach $word1 (@list1){ foreach $word2 (@list2){ foreach $word3 (@list3){ print "$word1 $word2 $word3\n"; } } } However, this doesn't work if there's nothing in the second or third list (I may only want to iterate between one, two or three lists at a time - in other words, if I only supply two lists it should iterate between those two lists).

• How do you move the pointer up or down multiple lines with Emacs?

  I can move my pointer up and down one line with my arrow key just fine in Emacs, so I'd like to redefine C-n and C-p to move up and down 5 lines at a time. I'm just beginning to learn how to use Emacs, and elisp is very alien to me. I tried using the GNU Emacs lisp reference, but I couldn't find how to bind a keystroke to multiple commands. Here's what I have so far (concentrating on the moving up definition): (global-set-key "\C-p" '(loop for i in '(1 2 3 4 5) do ('previous-line))) But, this brings up an error message when I hit C-p, "Wrong type argument." Any suggestions? Thanks!

• Efficient synchronization of querying an array of resources

  There is a list of N resources, each of them can be queried by at most a single thread at a time. There are serveral threads that need to do the same thing at approximately the same time: query each of the resources (each thread has a different query), in arbitrary order, and collect the responses. If each thread loops over the resources in the same order, from 0 to N-1, then they will probably have to wait for each other, which is not efficient. I thought of letting the threads loop over the resources in a random permutation, but this seems too complex and also not so efficient, for example, for 2 resources and 2 threads, in half the cases they will choose the same order and wait for each other. Is there a simple and more efficient way to solve this?

  I have the following list comprehension which returns a list of coordinate objects for each location. coordinate_list = [Coordinates(location.latitude, location.longitude) for location in locations] This works. Now suppose the location object has a number_of_times member. I want a list comprehension to generate n Coordinate objects where n is the number_of_times for the particular location. So if a location has number_of_times = 5 then the coordinates for that location will be repeated 5 times in the list. (Maybe this is a case for a for-loop but I'm curious if it can be done via list comprehensions)

  I was developing a small function when trying to run an enumerator across a list and then carry out some action. (Below is an idea of what I was trying to do. When trying to remove I got a "Collection cannot be modified" which after I had actually woken up I realised that tempList must have just been assigned myLists reference rather than a copy of myLists. After that I tried to find a way to say tempList = myList.copy However nothing seems to exist?? I ended up writing a small for loop that then just added each item from myLsit into tempList but I would have thought there would have been another mechanism (like clone??)   Hi there, I have written a class which loads configuration objects of my application and keeps track of them so that I can easily write out changes or reload the whole configuration at once with a single method call. However, each configuration object might potentially throw an exception when doing IO, yet I do not want those errors to cancel the overall process so that the other objects are still given a chance to reload/write. Therefore I collect all exceptions which are thrown while iterating over the objects and store them in a super-exception, which is thrown after the loop, since each exception must still be handled and someone has to be notified of what exactly went wrong. However, that approach looks a bit odd to me. Someone out there with a cleaner solution?
