• Subsonic 3 : get only certain columns

  Hello, I use : Subsonic 3, SQL Server 2008, Json.Net Here is my problem : I have a house table with id,lot number, address, location, ownerid and an owner table with id,name, description. I'd like to get only the owner name and address of house where location is "San Francisco". How can I do this with Subsonic? My problem is I can only get a typed list or a datareader, I don't understand how to only get an array or a simple list. What is the best solution? Create a custom class ? Create a View ? Anything else ? My aim is to then serialize the data to send it back to my application, but serialization is seriously long because of the numerous relationships (My example here is simplified, there are indeed : house - owner - city - country etc.), whereas I need only 2 fields... • Python proper use of __str__ and __repr__

  Hey, My current project requires extensive use of bit fields. I found a simple, functional recipe for bit a field class but it was lacking a few features I needed, so I decided to extend it. I've just got to implementing __str__ and __repr__ and I want to make sure I'm following convention. __str__ is supposed to be informal and concice, so I've made it return the bit field's decimal value (i.e. str(bit field 11) would be "3". __repr__ is supposed to be a official representation of the object, so I've made it return the actual bit string (i.e. repr(bit field 11) would be "11"). In your opinion would this implementation meet the conventions for str and repr? Additionally, I have used the bin() function to get the bit string of the value stored in the class. This isn't compatible with Python < 2.6, is there an alternative method? Cheers, Pete

  I got dpm($form) working. Nice! This is much better way to view data. I am still trying to figure out where stuff is coming from eg: location longitude & latitude. The word 'longitude' is referenced in 20 different places. I thought this was a likely place to isolate text box for this input field. dpm($form['#field_info']['field_store_latitude']['location_settings']['form']['fields']); Any tips on how to track down individual input elements?

  Hi, I have a problem, I created a full text search query which return a record(s), in which the paramater I have supplied match(es) in every fields(full-text indexed) of multiple tables. The problem is , when the user.id is equal to ceritification.AId it returns a records eventhough it was not satisfied with the parameter supplied. For this example I supplied a value "xandrick" which return an Id=184, but the problem is it returns two ids which is 184 and 154.What is the best way to return an ID(s) that satisfied of the supplied given value? • $_POST goes empty after adding a new input type "file"

  Hi, I'm not finding a way to understand and fix this and I've done a lot. I've got a script, wish is a simple form, that sends a file trough POST. The second file, process the info. By default, I give to the user a few fields, one of them being a input field of type "file" and there's also, a few "hidden" one's, that gives me values to work with on POST. I found that, when adding a new input of type "file", the $_POST returns array 0, even $_FILES returns nothing. I have no idea how to fix this, and it works just fine when keeping the default input box of type "file". This is the form http://pastie.org/872488 This only happens when: Exists! var_dump( $_POST ), or $_FILES, print_r(), etc Returns nothing. I've tryed to create a array on the input of type "files", like img_p_child[], but nothing. How to solve this ? Thanks for taking your time!

I could certainly write some script that creates the query with all the column names but maybe there is an SQL-only solution. • Finding changes in MongoDB database

  I'm designing a MongoDB database that works with a script that periodically polls a resource and gets back a response which is stored in the database. Right now my database has one collection with four fields , id, name, timestamp and data. I need to be able to find out which names had changes in the data field between script runs, and which did not. In pseudocode, if(data[name][timestamp]==data[name][timestamp+1]) //data has not changed store data in collection 1 else //data has changed between script runs for this name store data in collection 2 Is there a query that can do this without iterating and running javascript over each item in the collection? There are millions of documents, so this would be pretty slow. Should I create a new collection named timestamp for every time the script runs? Would that make it faster/more organized? Is there a better schema that could be used? The script runs once a day so I won't run into a namespace limitation any time soon.

  I've been trying to come up with a method, that given a day of week and time of day, it will return if it falls under a custom weekend period. The weekend period is saved in 4 variables as follows: The day of week when it starts (0-6) The time of day when it starts (0-23) The day of week when it ends (0-6) The time of day when it ends (0-23) Based on these fields, the weekend period can be anything the user selected (even if it is well beyond a regular weekend) I've been banging this one for awhile but to no avail. I'm trying this in delphi but any language will do, as I'm looking for the algorithm and not the implementation.

  Does anyone have a demo of using uploadify with additional fields and saving to database? The site's examples don't explain the process in depth and I am not familiar with jquery. I don't know why but I can't get my head around how too integrate the two. I have the demo working and I have my app which uses traditional php/html forms working. I need to conduct basic form collection with uploadify in the mix. Collect data and check data with feedback and then process into database and post back a confirmation. How do I feed information back to the uploadify form if there is a problem from the upload.php file? • CSS gurus, can I make my absolutely positioned child element force the main parent's height?

  This is kind of hard to explain. I have an absolutely positioned floating secondary content box. It works great in all occurrences. Except, when you submit a form and don't fill out the fields (see here, and push send). The box expands to show the errors, and underneath the footer there is a blank space. The best example I can give is to see it in action (link above). I've played with min-height and it didn't work too good. I'd also like to avoid expanding the footer with code in the event of form errors if I can help it. Should I ditch the absolute positioning? And try with margins? Is there any other way to get it to work?

  Hi when saving to a model, my created and modified fields aren't automatically populated by CakePHP. It was automatically populated when I was using MySQL but now it isn't. I'm not using NOW() back when I was still using MySQL. Why is it? Also when a field's value is not set 'NULL' (with quotes) is inserted causing errors because SQL Server says I can't insert a string to a field of type smallint/date etc. How do I fix this?   I have two tables, both having more than 20 million records; table1 is a list of terms, and table2 is a list of keywords that may or may not appear in those terms. I need to identify the terms that contain a keyword. My current strategy is: SELECT table1.term, table2.keyword FROM table1 INNER JOIN table2 ON table1.term LIKE CONCAT('%', table2.keyword, '%'); This is not working, it takes f o r e v e r. It's not the server (see notes). How might I rewrite this so that it runs in under a day? Notes: As for server optimization: both tables are myisam and have unique indexes on the matching fields; the myisam key buffer is greater than the sum of both index file sizes, and it is not even being fully taxed (key_blocks_unused is ... large); the server is a dual-xeon 2U beast with fast sas drives and 8G of ram, fine-tuned for the mysql workload.

• Fully custom validation error message with Rails

  Using Rails I'm trying to get an error message like "The song field can't be empty" on save. Doing the following: validates_presence_of :song_rep_xyz, :message => "can't be empty" ... only displays "Song Rep XYW can't be empty", which is not good because the title of the field is not user friendly. How can I change the title of the field itself ? I could change the actual name of the field in the database, but I have multiple "song" fields and I do need to have specific field names. I don't want to hack around rails' validation process and I feel there should be a way of fixing that.

For any value of Table1.u_name, there are 0 to many entries in Table2 that Table2.u_name equals to that value. For any value of Table1.u_name, there are 0 to 1 entries in Table2 that Table2.u_name equals to that value AND Table2.u_type='S' What I want: Use Table1.u_name to get Table1.*, Table2.u_admin where Table1.u_name=Tabl2.u_name and Table2.u_type='S'. If there is no such entry in Table2 we still need to get Table1.* Please help give me some hints. Thank you so much!

  I'm trying to create Ranking that shows the sequence of agreements for the two fields Customers and Agreements. The number for agreements must be unique, whereas customers can repeat. The formula RankOfDup: (SELECT Count(*) FROM Data a WHERE a.customer=Data.customer And a.agreement >= Data.agreement) Works beautifully but after this query with columns Agreement, Customer and RankofDup, I need to create crosstab that transposes the RankofDub. It works when I make the table first and then create query but my data is too large so I'm trying to put the select query with the ranking in a crosstab query. However, when I try to do this Access gives error message that microsoft jet ... doesn't recognise Data.customer? Any ideas how I can fix this?

The snippet for that item looks like this: "ajaxUser":{ "file":"validateUser.php", "extraData":"name=eric", "alertTextOk":"* This user is available", "alertTextLoad":"* Loading, please wait", "alertText":"* This user is already taken"}, What I can't figure out at all is how its PHP page is working which is validateUser.php. Where are all those post fields coming from? I looked around and can't find a field with those names. Thanks
