• What are the alternatives for Java authentication?

  Preferably something that integrates well with a Flex front end. Yes the Spring Security guys say this is possible, but all examples seem to use legacy jsp tag libraries making them half useless as examples. I don't want to spend a month setting up and learning how to use a security tool. I would like a tool which supports using annotations (@RolesAllowed etc), MINIMAL XML, and 'remember-me' features (not cookie based). Apache Shiro seems to support Flex/Silverlight/Swing as well but I'd like to know if there are any other alternatives that are NOT container specific.

• I have a problem implementing states in my Flex app, please help!

  Hey guys, I'm trying to work out how to use states in my Flex app. I've created two states, State1 and Stage 2. Both are based off the base state. I've created a few visual elements for State1, and given each of them includeIn="State1". But when I'm in design mode and click on State2, these elements are still visible? Why is that? If I try to delete them while State2 is selected, all that happens is RemoveChild is added to the State2 tag. Is this how I'm supposed to do it? Thanks for reading!

• Is it possible to disable the iPhone's automatic hyperlinks?

  We send out a notification email whenever we have "phishing" emails reported to us. In these emails, we include a copy-paste of the text inside the original phishing email as a sample of what is reported to us. Our code strips all hyperlinks out of the email via PHP, but still includes (in plain text) the link. When users receive this email in their client (Thunderbird, Outlook, Horde/IMP, etc), the hyperlink is removed. However, the iPhone likes to take web addresses in plain text and automatically turn them into hyperlinks. Is there any possible way to stop this action from happening via a HTML tag or by using PHP to replace certain parts of the hyperlink?

• Listen to HTML/CSS events of web page

  I'm looking for a way to listen for an event in the HTML/CSS of a webpage. Basically, a website I use at work lists queues and appointments, which flag as yellow/red based on the amount of time late on taking said appointment. Other than this visual aide, there is no alert of any kind, which is a failing point if one is juggling multiple windows and doesn't notice. What I would like to do is put together a simple way to watch for the tag ID or perhaps the flag hex color, and then alert me in a way of my choosing. The work environment is on OS X, so I presume I'm looking at an Objective-C centric solution unless Applescript is capable of doing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Project hosting on Google Code. Files are cahced?

  I do not really understand how Google Code handles file versioning. I am building a jQuery plugin that anyone can access. Like so: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://jquery-old-browser-warning.googlecode.com/files/jquery.browser-warning.js"></script> This script accesses other files on the same project (via ajax). The problem is, that when I upload a new file, it just seems like there aren't any changed to it. Google recommends that new files should have new names. But then I would have to change the filenames that the script loads. But then I would have to change the script file as well, and that would break everybodys implementation (with the script-tag above) Is there a way to force a file to change when uploading with the same filename? PS: If I go directly to the project page's file list. Then I do get the file with the updated content. But as I said, not when getting it through ajax.

• Web Forms Routing not having correct path to images, css, scripts ...

However, I am unable to find out how to set up routing in such a way that server ignores routing for images, css and scripts so it will be read as http://address/css/text.css instead of http://address/article/1212/some-text/css/text.css The only way I can make this work if I put tag into but I am sure it can be done other way. I would appreciate any help on this topic. Fero

• [WordPress] Need help with remove_action()

  I'm trying to remove the unsightly embedded <STYLE> tag the built-in Recent Comments widget puts in my <HEAD>, but I can't seem to get the syntax right. It originally calls add_action( 'wp_head', array(&$this, 'recent_comments_style') ); to add it (in wp-includes/default-widgets.php, line 609), and I'm trying to undo it. I think it should be something like this: remove_action('wp_head', 'WP_Widget_Recent_Comments::recent_comments_style'); but with all the variations I've tried I still can't get it right. • How do I use google API within perl CGI script?

  The google API example shows that you should have the javascript within the head tag but I am using perl module CGI and in there they suggest that you use "print header;" instead of writting out your headers explicitly. So if I want to use the perl CGI module and the google API javascript what is the correct way to do this? I tried writing out the header explicitly but It seemed like the perl module really wanted me to use the header method. It seems like this would be a common use case but I looked around the web for some examples of this and I could not find one. Any help would be appreciated.

• Good overview tool / board for visualizing Subversion branch acitivity?

  Our team is sometimes finding it a bit confusing and time-consuming to figure out which subversion operations have been perrformed on our different branches in Subversion. Example, when has the Development branch last been merged into the Trunk? When was this particular Tag created, based on what branch etc etc. All of this information can of course be extracted from the Subversion Log, but thats always a manual, time-consuming and error-prone process. Simplest solution seems to be a simple whiteboard with a visualization of all the different branches/tags/trunk in Subversion and people drawing on it, whenever something significant happens. But we're not averse to finding some kind of a digital solution as well, stored centrally. Obviously both systems depend on people actually maintaining the model, but you'll always more or less have that. What do you use as best practice for keeping a clear view on all Subversion operations in the current Sprint (or beyond)?

• Can headers be sent in an AJAX request?

  Can I call the server to set a new cookie with an AJAX request (that is, after the page has already loaded)? For example, when a visitor hits a link, ajax would open a php file that sets a new cookie like this: setcookie('cookiename', 'true', time()+3000, "/",'...'); But this is done after the html (the page containing the actual <a> tag pressed) was rendered. Is it nevertheless ok to set cookies in ajax? (maybe because the php file loaded is separate from the original html page).

• Why cant I specify the width and height of a cell in an html table?

  I am using CSS but for the sake of quick testing i am just using a style tag. This is the code I am trying to implement: echo "<td style='height=10px; width=10px;'>"; it makes sure that the max width of the cell is 10px however the height overflows with the text so becomes very large (high). what I am trying to achieve is any information that is in that cell more than 30 charcters I want to hide so you cant see it. (I know 30 charaters is more than 10px but I am just playing to see if it worked!) Thanks guys.

  I don't know whether all coffeescript compilers wrap their scripts in anonymous functions, but that's what I see Rails doing. How can I disable this encapsulation? I want to put several initializing functions in a single coffeescript file, then call one of them from an on-page <script> tag (so that each page calls a different initializer). This can't be if the initializing functions are encapsulated. • PHP Get images from a UL list

  I have a long UL list and each LI contains an image tag, dynamically generated from SLideshowPro Director. I need to get the widths of ALL the images inside the UL to use in a CSS width calculation. I have been able to get the image width for the first item, but not all. My PHP is pretty limited, but do I have to make this list into an ARRAY first to allow me to get all the widths? And how do i do that?? These images contain very long id's generated by the CMS, so reading through a directory is not possible, as the images in cache bare not relation to the file names that are output to the HTML page. It has to all be done from the content that's sent to the page. Or could I even use JQuery to do this??

  I am testing my noscript tags which display content when javascript is disabled, this works in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Camino, IE6, IE7, IE8, IE9, basically everything but Opera (I'm running version 11, not sure if its isolated to that version). In Opera 11 nothing is displayed... is the noscript tag not supported? and what is the alternative? • How to edit default.aspx on SharePoint site without SharePoint Designer

  On several occations, I have faced the situation that the default.aspx page on a Site doesn't work. More specifically, a reference to a WebPart and/or Control is throwing a error because the assembly is not found. Fine, you just fire up the dreaded SharePoint Designer and remove the dependency line. However, if I wanted to use this method when not having SharePoint Designer, how could this be done? EDIT: Removing the web part using the "?contents=1" web part management page didn't help in my case. The <%@Register tag was still there and had to be removed using SharePoint Designer.

• Aren't passwords written in inputbox vulnerable through a stack trace ?

  Hello, I am not a guru of the stack tracing, at all. I even don't know how to get some. Anyway, I am wondering if entering a password entered in an inputbox is safe. Can't it be retrieved by getting a stack trace ? A password entered that way will be found in many places : Caption property of the TEdit Result of the function which creates the inputbox probably, a variable that stores the Result of the InputBox Command etc... If the answer is "yes, it is a vulnerability", then my world collapses :p. What can be done to avoid that vulnerability hole ? NOTE : The InputBox is an example but it can be with a "homebrewed" login prompt. InputBox is a Delphi command but I haven't tagged the question with the Delphi tag because I suppose that the question concerns any language. Thanks for reading

  I am getting an error in visual studio that appears to be flat out wrong. Here it is: The tag contains duplicate 'ID' attributes. on the following line: Rica.Yoodul.MiniSites.BaseMiniSiteUserControl ucMaster = (Rica.Yoodul.MiniSites.BaseMiniSiteUserControl)Page.LoadControl("~/MiniSites/" + templateName + "/Master.ascx"); I have checked though both the master and child pages for repeats of the id I last added (the only one added since last successful test) and the ID is used once across both files. Other than controls (e.g ), is there anything this error refers to? Or is there a workaround? I have checked I am editing the right files. On the face of it this appears to be a visual studio bug, but I want to be sure.

• Firing a Keyboard Event at the Body - JavaScript (?)

  I've done a lot of research on this but have come up empty handed. What I would like to do is invoke or create an event for the right arrow key (Key Code 39). I was planning on using an onclick event inside an tag to go to a function where this event could be 'fired'. Any help would be appreciated. If anyone needs context, I have a jQuery content slider that's functionality is very hard to alter and currently the functionality I need to emulate only occurs when a user hits the right arrow on their keyboard. What I would like to do is tie an onclick() event to a image that when clicked on fires the right keyboard event and the content will slide.   In a xhtml, i want to highlight the text between two self closing tags s1 and s2 whose attribute value is the same. Eg. <s1 ind="1"/> and <s2 ind="1" /> Eg. <html> <body> <a> <b>Some <s1 ind="1"/> text</b> <c>data <s2 ind="1"/>here</c> </a> </body> </html> I want "text data" to get highlighted. Is is possible to achieve using javascript/jquery? I could have many such self closing tag pairs s1 and s2 with a unique value for "ind" for the pair indicating that the text within them needs to be highlighted.
