  Introduction Seth Godin's latest book is called Poke the Box . I'm still reading it, but I have these thoughts to share: Initiate The theme of the book is to start something. Initiate. Engage. Don't wait to be picked - pick yourself. I so identify with this sentiment. It's a driving tenet behind SQLPeople .   An Odd Thing Happened... ... when I was in third grade math class: I was handed a sheet of arithmetic problems to solve. There were maybe 20 problems on the page and we were given the remainder of the class to complete them. I don't remember how much time remained in the class, I remember I finished working on the problems before my classmates. That wasn't the odd part.   Introduction The other morning I awoke and said to myself, "Self, you need a million bucks." After breakfast, I waltzed down to the local bank. I slipped into the vault and managed to grab a million bucks while no one was paying attention. Quietly, I slipped out of the vault and made it home with the money. My logic?   Introduction I have some thoughts on the selection of pre-conference and post-conference session presenters at the PASS Summit. PASS pre-conference and post-conference sessions are $395. Trainers and speakers in the various SQL Server fields (relational engine, business intelligence, etc.) are selected to deliver these day-long seminars before and (now) after each PASS Summit.
