• Modify attribute of certain XML elements

  I would like to modify an attribute of a very long xml like this: <element index="0"> <subelement bla="asdf" /> <subelement bla="asdf" /> </element> <element index="1"> <subelement bla="asdf" /> <subelement bla="asdf" /> </element> ... I need to add N the value of each index attribute. Say N=5. The result would be: <element index="5"> <subelement bla="asdf" /> <subelement bla="asdf" /> </element> <element index="6"> <subelement bla="asdf" /> <subelement bla="asdf" /> </element> ... What's the easiest way to do this? I presume it would be with XSLT, but I don't know how to do it. Thanks!

  GNU Screen (screen) behaves differently on OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard) compared to Linux (at least Ubuntu, Red Hat, and Gentoo) and OS X 10.4 (Tiger). In 10.5 and 10.6, new screens (made with screen or ^A c) always places me in my home directory ~. In Linux and OS X Tiger, new screens have a pwd of wherever the screen was created originally.   This happens sometimes if the VM bumps up against upper limits of memory and has to hit swap heavily for extended periods (a few minutes or more). When this happens and I type asdf at the prompt it looks like: $ No command 'asdf' found, did you mean: Command 'asdfg' from package 'aoeui' (universe) Command 'sadf' from package 'sysstat' (main) Command 'sdf' from package 'sdf' (universe) asdf: command not found $ Note that asdf isn't showing up after $. The obvious answer is to just kill the tab and start a new one. Still, I have to wonder if there's a way to reset a bash terminal that is misbehaving like this. I tried bash and it didn't make any difference.

  I have an array of objects that looks like this: [{ name: 'test', size: 0, type: 'directory', path: '/storage/test' }, { name: 'asdf', size: 170, type: 'directory', path: '/storage/test/asdf' }, { name: '2.txt', size: 0, type: 'file', path: '/storage/test/asdf/2.txt' }] There could be any number of arbitrary path's, this is the result of iterating through files and folders within a directory. What I'm trying to do is determine the 'root' node of these. Ultimately, this will be stored in mongodb and use materialized path to determine it's relationships. In this example, /storage/test is a root with no parent. /storage/test/asdf has the parent of /storage/test which is the parent to /storage/test/asdf/2.txt. My question is, how would you go about iterating through this array, to determine the parent's and associated children? Any help in the right direction would be great! Thank you

• How do I stop and repair a RAID 5 array that has failed and has I/O pending?

  The short version: I have a failed RAID 5 array which has a bunch of processes hung waiting on I/O operations on it; how can I recover from this? The long version: Yesterday I noticed Samba access was being very sporadic; accessing the server's shares from Windows would randomly lock up explorer completely after clicking on one or two directories. I assumed it was Windows being a pain and left it. Today the problem is the same, so I did a little digging; the first thing I noticed was that running ps aux | grep smbd gives a lot of lines like this: ben 969 0.0 0.2 96088 4128 ? There are a lot of processes stuck in the "D" state. Running ps aux | grep " D" shows up some other processes including my nightly backup script, all of which need to access the volume mounted on my RAID array at some point. I cannot hot-swap a replacement drive in, and don't want to leave the array running in a degraded state. I believe I am supposed to unmount the filesystem before stopping the array, but that is failing, and that is where I'm stuck now: ben@jack:~$ sudo umount /storage umount: /storage: device is busy. (In some cases useful info about processes that use the device is found by lsof(8) or fuser(1)) It is indeed busy; there are some 30 or 40 processes waiting on I/O. What should I do? Should I kill all these processes and try again? Is that a wise move when they are 'uninterruptable'? What would happen if I tried to reboot? Please let me know what you think I should do. And please ask if you need any extra information to diagnose the problem or to help!

  I have a post-receive hook that runs on a central git repository set up with gitolite to trigger a git pull on a staging server. It seems to work properly, but throws a "command not found" error when it is run. I am trying to track down the source of the error, but have not had any luck. Running the same commands manually does not produce an error. The error changes depending on what was done in the commit that is being pushed to the central repository. For instance, if 'git rm ' was committed and pushed to the central repo the error message will be "remote: hooks/post-receive: line 16: Removed: command not found" and if 'git add ' was committed and pushed to the central repo the error message will be "remote: hooks/post-receive: line 16: Merge: command not found". In either case the 'git pull' run on the staging server works correctly despite the error message. Here is the post-receive script: #!/bin/bash # # This script is triggered by a push to the local git repository. It will # ssh into a remote server and perform a git pull. # # The SSH_USER must be able to log into the remote server with a # passphrase-less SSH key *AND* be able to do a git pull without a passphrase. # # The command to actually perform the pull request on the remost server comes # from the ~/.ssh/authorized_keys file on the REMOTE_HOST and is triggered # by the ssh login. We're working in a Dynamic Data project that will handle entities coming from two different namespaces: myModel.Abby and myModel.Ben. whose classes are: Abby myModel.Abby.Car myModel.Abby.Lollipop Ben myModel.Ben.Car myModel.Ben.Apple So myModel.Abby.Car and myModel.Ben.Car are homonym. when I try to register both ObjectContext's, an exception is thrown telling us that there are type name conflicts between the mentioned classes (although the types belong to different namespaces). How can we overcome type-name conflicts, caused by repeated type names among different namespaces?

• wx Menu disappears from frame when shown as a popup

  I'm trying to create a wx.Menu that will be shared between a popup (called on right-click), and a sub menu accessible from the frame menubar. The following code demonstrates the problem. If you open the "MENUsubmenu" from the menubar the item "asdf" is visible. If you right click on the frame content area, "asdf" will be visible from there as well... however, returning to the menubar, you will find that "MENUsubmenu" is vacant.   I'm following this post by Dave Ward (http://encosia.com/2010/12/02/jquery-templates-composite-rendering-and-remote-loading/) to load a composite templates for a Blog, where I have a total of 3 small templates (all in one file) for a blog post.   I'm trying to rewrite a URL for a servlet. The URL gets rewritten correctly, but the context doesn't match after that. Any idea how to get this to work? • Using tar, the entire folder structure is including, I don't want that

  I am taring a folder and for some reason the entire directory structure that preceds the folder I am tarring is included. I am doing this in a script like: 'tar czf ' + dir + '/asdf.tgz ' + dir + 'asdf/' Where dir is like: /Downloads/archive/ In the man pages, I see I can fix this but I can't get it to work. I tried: tar czf -C dir ... But now I have some kind of a file -C in my folder (which I can't seem to delete btw!). Please help!

When someone navigates to a top-level page that's represented in that menu, I'd like for the child items to be displayed.   I'm having some trouble creating a urlacl reservation in Windows Server 2008; probably this a rookie mistake. The command line I'm using is: netsh http add urlacl url=http://+:99898/ user=ben The error that I see is: Url reservation add failed, Error: 87 The parameter is incorrect. There is a local user account named 'ben' that has admin privileges. I've made sure to put a trailing slash after the port number in the URL. Google and MSDN documentation are letting me down now - does anyone have any clue what I'm doing incorrectly?

• Optimizing data downloaded via 'link' media queries and asynchronous loading

  I have a website that tries to make sensible use of media queries and avoid 'expensive' CSS for users of mobile devices. My eventual goal is to make it 'mobile-first' but for now, since it is based on Twitter Bootstrap it isn't. I included some background images (Base64 encoded) and styles that would only apply to "full-size" browsers in a separate stylesheet loaded asynchronously via modernizr.load. In Firefox (but not webkit browsers) it makes it so that if you navigate away from the homepage and then return, the content (specifically, all those extras) 'blinks' when it finishes loading...or maybe I should say reloading. If, instead of using modernizr.load, I include that stylesheet via a link... in the head with a media query attribute will it prevent the data from being downloaded by non-matching browsers (mobile, based on screensize) that it is inapplicable to?

But I only require the names of those matches who won/draw. Those names whose matches lost will not be included in myset. In the test file above, there's only one match that lost (1-2) and I wanted to remove "Ben". How can I do that? I tried to use myset.erase(), but I'm not sure how to get it point to Ben and remove it from myset. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
