  • jQuery number seperator - Seperate number by each 1.000

    Hi I'm developing a new site, and in here it's possible for the user to type in a price in a input-textfield. So what I need is some jQuery-code to transforn the typed in price. This means, that when a user types in "1000", the vissible text in the input field shall automatically be transformed to "1.000" - with a period. And if they type in "10000" it should be transformed to "10.000" etc. You can see a live example on this website I found: http://www.boligsiden.dk/ I know it's on danish, but on the frontpage under the map, there are to input fields. One of them is saying "Minimum kontaktpris". You can try to type in a number in here, and see the effect that I'm looking for. Does anybody know how I can achieve this? Either by a jQuery plugin, or by some "homemade"-code? Thanks in advance. /Kim Andersen

But I only require the names of those matches who won/draw. Those names whose matches lost will not be included in myset. In the test file above, there's only one match that lost (1-2) and I wanted to remove "Ben". How can I do that? I tried to use myset.erase(), but I'm not sure how to get it point to Ben and remove it from myset. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

  • overheating when using flash

    I am having overheating issues when watching flash videos. Here is all the relevant information that I could think of. Please help. --Often when playing flash videos it operates at 95 degrees C. --Only gets that hot when on full screen (but still in the 80s otherwise) --Sometimes reaches 100 degrees and shuts down. --fan runs at around 4500 RPM when hot (not to mention I can here it speed up) --Happens under Ubuntu 12.04 and 12.10 (did not use Ubuntu before then) --Overheating happens on more than one site (for example youtube and Comedy Central) --My computer does not overheat otherwise. --Usually runs around 50-60 degrees C. --Maybe if compiling or doing updates can it get to 70 or 75 degree C. --Have a dual boot, and under Windows I do not have this issue. --I use firefox, but have the same issue if using Chrome --I have a Lenovo T410, currently running Ubuntu 12.10 --Intel® Core™ i5 CPU M 540 @ 2.53GHz × 4 --4 GB of memory, 64 bit OS --Graphics: NVS 3100M/PCIe/SSE2 Thanks and let me know if you need more info, Ben

  • Unity does not display properly [closed]

    Ubuntu Unity on the Ubuntu netbook edition installs without a problem but when I log in though, where the panels are, there is just blank area with a shadow effect style thing on it. I can open apps but the Window buttons and the global menu are not visable. Does this mean that I cannot use Unity. I'm running it through Wubi on a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop. My total ammount of graphics memory is 831MB My dedicated memory is 128MB. The odd thing is is that Windows Aero displays without a problem so why is there a problem with Unity Hope this helps Ben

Dit werk is daar bij uitstek geschikt voor! Immers: bij iedere klus breng ik niet alleen nieuwe ideeën en kennis maar ik leer zelf ook iedere keer ontzettend veel. En er is niets leukers dan zien dat wat ik meebreng een organisatie naar een ander niveau brengt! Iedere keer een ander bedrijf zoeken houdt in dat ik iedere keer weg moet gaan bij een organisatie. Het lastige daarvan is het juiste moment te vinden. Van buitenaf gezien is dat lastig in te schatten: wanneer kan ik niets vernieuwends meer bijdragen en is het tijd om verder te gaan? Wanneer is het tijd om te zeggen dat de organisatie alles weet wat ik ze kan bijbrengen? In mijn huidige klus is dat moment nu aangebroken. In de afgelopen elf maanden heb ik dit bedrijf zien veranderen van een kleine maar enthousiaste groep ontwikkelaars naar een professionele organisatie met ruim twee keer zo veel ontwikkelaars. Dat veranderingsproces is erg leerzaam geweest en ik ben dan ook erg blij dat ik die verandering heb kunnen en mogen begeleiden. Van drie teams met ieder vijf of zes ontwikkelaars naar zes teams met zeven tot acht ontwikkelaars per team groeien betekent dat je je ontwikkelproces heel anders moet insteken. Ook houdt dat in dat je je teams anders moet indelen, dat de organisatie zelf anders gemodelleerd moet worden en dat mensen anders met elkaar om moeten gaan. Om dat voor elkaar te krijgen is er door iedereen heel hard gewerkt, is er een aantal fouten gemaakt, is heel veel van die fouten geleerd en is uiteindelijk een vrijwel nieuw bedrijf ontstaan. Het is tijd om dit bedrijf te verlaten. Ik ben benieuwd waar ik hierna terecht kom: ik ben aan het rondkijken naar mogelijkheden. Ik weet wèl: het bedrijf waar ik naar op zoek ben, is een bedrijf dat openstaat voor veranderingen. Veranderingen, maar dan wel met het oog voor het individu; mensen staan immers centraal in de software ontwikkeling! Ik heb er in ieder geval weer zin in!

  • Chroot into a 32 bit version of ubuntu from a 64 bit host

    I have a piece of software that only runs on 32 bit linux (Xilinx webPack 10.1, apperently it 'has' to be the old version because that's the latest one compatible with their boards), anyway, this version is only compatible with 32 bit linux. So, I head off to this page to see what I can do: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/32bit_and_64bit Of the 4 options (listed at the bottom): I already installed ia32-libs, and it's still not working I could do that one if needed (which I ended up doing). No, I don't want to be working from a vm all of next semester, that would be painful and I'd rather just reinstall my whole computer to a 32 bit os (which I don't want to do). It didn't sound like it was the best option based on what I've seen. So I went off to do #2, and set up a chroot for 32 bit ubuntu. It linked to this tutorial: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebootstrapChroot As I'm running ubuntu 10.10 I made the lucid and newer version changes. Which is to say I wrote: [hardy-i386] description=Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy for i386 directory=/srv/chroot/hardy-i386 personality=linux32 root-users=leif type=directory users=leif to /etc/schroot/chroot.d/hardy-i386 (Note though that I did save it once before I had the file properly formatted, I saved the correct version moments later though). I then ran: $ sudo mkdir -p /srv/chroot/hardy_i386 $ sudo debootstrap --variant=buildd --arch i386 hardy /srv/chroot/hardy_i386 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ Then I ran: $ schroot -l And it showed the proper chroot, but then when I ran: $ schroot -c hardy-i386 -u root I got the following error: E: 10mount: error: Directory '/srv/chroot/hardy-i386' does not exist E: 10mount: warning: Mount location /var/lib/schroot/mount/hardy-i386-80359697-2164-4b10-a05a-89b0f497c4f1 no longer exists; skipping unmount E: hardy-i386-80359697-2164-4b10-a05a-89b0f497c4f1: Chroot setup failed: stage=setup-start Can anyone help me figure out what the problem is? Oh, by the way: /srv/chroot/hardy-i386 most certainly exists. I've also tried it replacing all references with hardy to lucid, to no avail. Oh, one more thing, I did set up the chrome os environment a month back or so: http://www.chromium.org/chromium-os/developer-guide and it had me use something with chmod.     I’m excited to say that we’ve just released ANTS Memory Profiler 8! The big news is support for profiling .NET’s usage of unmanaged memory. There are two main parts to this. Firstly you can see a breakdown of unmanaged memory usage by module. This lets you see at a high level where unmanaged memory is being used – for example in the image below, it’s being used by a PDF generation library. Separately, when looking at a list of .NET classes, you can see how much unmanaged memory those classes are responsible for holding on to. You can also see that information for individual instances of those classes. Some clues you might need this: You’re using system objects or 3rd party components which deal with unmanaged memory under the hood (this includes things like the GDI+ functions used for working with bitmaps) Your application still relies on some legacy Delphi / C++ / etc code from left over from the days before your company moved over to using .NET You’ve used a previous version of ANTS Memory Profiler, and have ever seen a pie chart that looks something like this: You’ll also notice that the startup process has been entirely redesigned, bringing it in line with ANTS Performance Profiler 8, which was released earlier in the year. This makes it faster to start profiling and to run repeat profiling sessions, lets you profile using any browser instead of Internet Explorer, and also provides a host of stability improvements, particularly when launching websites in IIS.   • I'm tasked with leading the documentation effort for an existing, entirely undocumented, software product - what resources are there to help me?

    I'm a software developer at a technology company. I have been tasked with leading the documentation effort for the product I work on. The goal is to produce documentation internal to developer, and the project spills over into the business side, where it covers requirements documentation. This project is challenging. Specifically, I'm dealing with a product which: - has been around for a long time, at least 6 years. - has no form of documentation other than some small, outdated pieces here and there. - has comments in the code, but they are technical and do not convey any over-arching behavior (even on technical side). - as a consequence of having little to no documentation, is often unnecessarily complex under the covers In addition, we have not been given a lot of time to work on this project. I do not have any formal documentation or writing background, training, or experience. I have displayed some ability in writing/communication around the office, which may be why I was assigned to this project. Please share your advice or recommendation for resources to help me prepare and deal with this project. I'm looking for references to books/website/forums/whatever, to help me come up with the design of a plan with milestones, learn about best practices, task delegation, templates, buy-in, etc. I'm hoping specifically for resources targeting or giving special mention of introducing good documentation to existing, undocumented, projects.   • Package manager borked with gforge

    I've been having a problem with the package manager. I seemed to have installed gforge, partially, but it keeps giving me errors whenever I install something. (Note that the thing I'm trying to install actually does get installed, but there is always an error returned). Here it is: Creating /etc/gforge/httpd.conf Creating /etc/gforge/httpd.secrets Creating /etc/gforge/local.inc Creating other includes invoke-rc.d: unknown initscript, /etc/init.d/postgresql-8.4 not found. dpkg: error processing gforge-db-postgresql (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 100 Errors were encountered while processing: gforge-db-postgresql E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) When I try to remove it with: sudo apt-get purge gforge-common I get this: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done The following packages will be REMOVED: gforge-common* gforge-db-postgresql* 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 2 to remove and 9 not upgraded. 1 not fully installed or removed.   • New database profiling support in ANTS Performance Profiler

    In May last year, the ANTS Performance Profiler team added the ability to profile database requests your application makes to SQL Server or Oracle. The really cool thing is that you’re shown those requests in the application’s call tree, so you can see what .NET code caused those queries to run. It’s particularly helpful if you’re using an ORM which automagically generates and runs queries for you, but which doesn’t necessarily do it in the most efficient way possible. Now by popular demand, we’ve added support for profiling MySQL (or MariaDB) and PostgreSQL, so you can see queries run against those databases too. Some of you have also said that you’re using the Devart dotConnect data providers instead of the native .NET ones, so we’ve added support for those drivers too. Hope it helps!   • What would be the best way to get Apple to donate their JVM-work to OpenJDK?

    It has been announced that Apple deprecates their JVM. It is a really nice piece of work giving an excellent user experience for Swing application on OS X, and it would be a pity if it just went away. As I see it the only realistic long term alternative to Apples own JVM is the OpenJDK unless Oracle chooses to take over the Apple JVM which I doubt as OS X is not a core platform for Oracle. But for this to work Apple needs to donate their enhancements to OpenJDK, and it needs to be under the GPL. They did so already with WebKit so there is precedent. What would be the best way to make them do so? Make a stackexchange poll? Get James Gosling and other high profile Java persons to say so? Email Steve Jobs? Suggestions? EDIT: Well, Apple has now promised to do so :) Shows that asking on StackExchange really MAKES A DIFFERENCE! Great!

  • Cloud availability of short-term "virgin" Windows instances?

    I have a situation where we on a regular basis need a freshly installed "virgin" Windows installation to do various work in isolation on, and building one from scratch every time in a vmware instance is getting tedious. Perhaps there are cloud offerings providing a service allowing to request one or more Windows instances and after a very short while they were available for logging in through Remote Desktop? After usage they were just recycled without having to pay for a full Windows license every time. Do this exist for a reasonable price? What is your personal experiences with this?

  • Boot from external usb hdd won't work in 12.04

    I've been running 10.04 on an external USB HDD without problems for years. I installed 12.04 on an external USB HDD and it worked until I upgraded to all the new packages. But after that it wouldn't boot. I just got into the grub prompt. So then I tried installing on the disk inside the computer and that worked fine. But when I take it out and use it as an external USB HDD I just get: error: hd0 out of disk. grub rescue> How can I fix this? So why do I want this you might wonder? Well I have a laptop at home and a somewhat similar at work. And I just move the disk between them and don't have to move a heavy laptop. So I really hope I can continue doing this with 12.04! The old disk is only 80Gb but the new one is 320Gb (7200rpm Toshiba). I'm using 12.04 on a 64Gb SSD as an external drive and it warns about out of disk but it boots anyway most of the times.

I say that I would consider the "Will you always deploy to Windows?" the single most important decision to make up front in a new web project, and if the answer is "no", I would recommend Java instead of .NET. A very common counter-argument is that "If we ever want to run on Linux/OS X/Whatever, we'll just run Mono", which is a very compelling argument on the surface, but I don't agree for several reasons. OpenJDK and all the vendor supplied JVM's have passed the official Sun TCK ensuring things work correctly. I am not aware of Mono passing a Microsoft TCK. Mono trails the .NET releases. What .NET-level is currently fully supported? Does all GUI elements (WinForms?) work correctly in Mono? Businesses may not want to depend on Open Source frameworks as the official plan B. I am aware that with the new governance of Java by Oracle, the future is unsafe, but e.g. IBM provides JDK's for many platforms, including Linux. They are just not open sourced. So, under which circumstances is Mono a valid business strategy for .NET-applications?

This means that when a user sees my search-form, the defaultvalues will be set as an attribute on the input-field, and this will be the value that is shown. When a user clicks inside of the input field, the default value will be removed. When the user sees an input field at first is looks like this: <input type="text" value="" defaultvalue="From" /> This works just fine, but I have a big challenge. If a user have posted the form, and something is entered into one of the fields, then I can't show the default value in the field, if the user deletes the text from the input field. This is happening because the value of the text-field is still containing something, even when the user deletes the content. So my problem is how to show the default value when the form is submitted, and the user then removes the typed in content? When the form is submitted the input looks like this, and keeps looking like this until the form is submitted again: <input type="text" value="someValue" defaultvalue="From" /> So I need to show the default value in the input-field right after the user have deleted the content in the field, and removed the focus from the field. Does everyone understand what my problem is? Otherwise just ask, I have struggled with this one for quite some times now, so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Kim Andersen

This number can change from time to time. What i Need is to grab the "Variant"-tag with the right number. In the above case I need to get the value from the "Variant5"-tag (93.9). Tomorrow the "OverRepresentedVariant"-value might have changed to 3, this would mean that I should now grab the "Variant3"-value instead. So this is what I got. I have a variable called $btOver which contains the above XML. I also have a variable called $btId which contains the "OverRepresentedVariant"-value like this: <xsl:variable name="btId" select="$btOver/OverRepresentedVariant" /> So now I need some help finding the Variant-tags with the right ID. The tags that I need will always be named "Variant" followed by an id. So how can I get the right tag? Thanks a lot in advance folks. /Kim Andersen

  • Checkpoint Endpoint Connect Imaging - Are there any gotchas?

    I am about to install CheckPoint EPC on a load of new laptops being rolled out. I plan to add it to the image, but want to check if there are any gotchas? By this I mean are there any UIDs that need removing before the image is taken to "depersonalise" the install. For example when you install LANDesk or McAfee (when using ePolicy) you need to remove the identifiers - do I need to do the same with EPC? Thanks in advance, Ben

  • Outlook uses > 700mb of RAM. How do I fix this?!

    I've been using outlook for years now, and I've never run into this problem before. Using Microsoft Outlook 2007, with only 1 email account, and no more than 100 emails in my inbox (though I have many many folders, with emails in them), Outlook can sit around and eventually get up to 700mb of ram usage. I've tried different types I've read, like compacting my folders, or not using Internet Calendars / RSS features, and right now I've even disabled Xobni...but still no effect. Any ideas?! Thanks!   • What is causing my newly built PC to BSOD?

    I recently built my own PC from parts and installed Windows 7 and I have been getting BSODs with various different stop codes. The latest was 0x24, but I've also had 0xd1 and 0x1e. However, Windows does not let me know where the fault occurred, so I have no idea how to go about resolving this. I've uploaded the last three minidumps in case someone can make sense out of them and let me know what could be causing my BSODs. Thanks, Ben
