• OS X can't resolve localhost suddenly

  Last week I fired up a website that I'm currently developing locally only to find out that it wasn't working as it was the night before, (or at all). After an inital stage of panic and 'what did I do' moments... I deduced the problem down to the fact that my OS X now wont resolve localhost properly, so connections to my SQL database were failing. I can still ping localhost in the terminal, but in order to get my websites up and running again, I had to change all the localhost entries to 127.0.0.1 This isn't a huge problem as everything is up and running again, but I would like to try to get to the bottom of it. I have a sneaking suspicion that an apple software update caused this issue, as I don't recall doing anything else that would have had any effect. Other than my hosts file (which looks normal), what else could be causing this? Running OSX 10.6.4

  I ask this question, since I am trying to get the images I have just copied from Domain A to work in Domain B, (which is using the same database). http://DOMAIN_A/magento/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/b/0/b0041-1.jpg I think knowing what the 32 character string is, which help me find a good explanation why the images are not being found in the front or backend of Magento after reinstall on DOMAIN B. • iPhone SDK File Handler with iOS 4 Background Processes

  The "application:applicationDidFinishLaunchingWithOptions:" message does not get called when an application is sitting in the background in iOS 4, and I'm trying to figure out how to be notified when the application is brought back into the foreground by another application. My application registers itself as a handler for certain file types, and Safari and other supported applications allow passing the files over to my app. This works great if the app is closed before I try to use it, but fails otherwise. In my application:applicationDidFinishLaunchingWithOptions: I have: NSURL *url = (NSURL *)[launchOptions valueForKey:UIApplicationLaunchOptionsURLKey]; if([url isFileURL]) { } [self.window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; As stated already, this works great so far for starting the app when it's not sitting in the background - but when I switch back over to Safari or Mail and try to open a new file that is supported, my application wakes up from the background and becomes active again but I can't see any "withOptions" overrides for application:applicationWillEnterForeground: or any way to identify what was passed in when it enters the foreground. What would be the appropriate way to receive these "open file notifications" when the application is in the background?

• Not getting a response when using Android Async HTTP (from loopj)

  I am using the Async Http library from loopj.com and also the sample code from the site. The problem is that when the request is made I don't get a response. I have even overridden the onFinish() function which isn't getting fire either. • .NET Test Harness what should it have

  Hi Folks, We have a software house developing code for us on a project, .NET Web Service (WCF) and we are also paying for a test harness to be built as a separate billable task on a daily rate. I have just joined the company and am reviewing what we are getting from the software house and wanted to know what you guys in industry thought about it? Basically what we got was a WinForm that called the w/s that had an input area (Web Service Request) to drop our XML a Submit button along with a response area for the result of the Web Response and that's it... Our internal BA has created all the xml request documents so there was no logic put into the harness around this. Looking on the Net for a definition of a Test Harness I got this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Test_harness It states it should have these 3 below things: Automate the testing process. Execute test suites of test cases. Generate associated test reports. Clearly we have got none of this apart from a partial "Automate the testing process" via a WinForm. OK, from my development background I would expect someone to Produce a WinForm as a test harness 5 years ago and really should be using some sort of Tooling around this, I explicitly told the Software House I expected some sort of tooling (NUnit,NBUnit, SOAPIU) so we could create a regression test pack for future use. [Didn’t get it but I asked for this after the requirements were signed off as I wasn’t employed then :)] Would someone be able to clarify with me if my requirement for this is over realistic, I know if I did this, I would use NUnit and TDD and then reuse the test harness as a regression test pack in future? • Progressive MP4 video issues in Flash- Video stops rendering

  I'm currently working on a flash project that has an intro video that plays before heading into the main app. This video is an H.264 .mp4, 1550x540, and around 10MB. The problem thats currently driving me insane is that when I test it, occasionally the video will begin playing, and then suddenly stop rendering the video frames, leaving the audio playing in the background with nothing on screen. Once the file is played through fully (based on listening to the audio), my playback complete event fires like it should, but I can't find any info of people having similar issues. • [AS3] htmlText not showing bold or italics font

  So I have a MovieClip asset with a dynamic textfield sitting inside of it. I export my .fla as a .swc to use within Flash Builder 4, and create instances of the asset with code, populating the text dynamically from XML. My issue is that even though I have htmlText enabled, bold and italics tags don't appear to be working. I have a feeling it is because when I created the asset in Flash CS4, the text field makes you specify the font, and the subset of that to use (Regular, Bold, Oblique, etc). Is there any way to get the htmlText to render bold and italics tags properly without having to completely rethink the way I'm creating all these fields?

  I cant even come up with a proper subject for this one... Basically I have a box div, that when click expands to a rectangle and shows content in the new expanded area. The problem I'm having is that when I animate out the div's width, the browser wants to render the content as the box is stretching, rather than just have it placed where I need it. • How to make last div stretch to fill screen?

  I have a site I'm trying to build and I've hit one little snag thats driving me insane. Essentially on pages without enough content to fill the viewport, I want to have the last div (my footer, fill the rest of the viewport, but it's currently being cut off. My html looks like this: <body> <div id="header"> </div> <div id="subNav"> </div> <div id="content"> </div> <div id="footer"> </div> </body> I tried using html, body, footer { height:100%; } but that creates much more space then needed, essentially a full screen length of blank content in the footer. How do I get my footer just to fill teh rest of the screen without adding a scroll bar? Thanks in advance, One Frustrated Coder.

• MySQL - Find entries that refer to a specified index.

  Hi, So I have a booking system where I have a 'lesson_type' table with 'lesson_type_id' as PK. I have a constraint in place here so I can't delete a lesson_type if there are bookings made for that lesson_type. I would like to be able to determine if this lesson_type_id is being referred to by any entries in the bookings table (or any other table for that matter) so I can notify the user gracefully. i.e. not have a mysql error be thrown when they try and delete a record. What kind of query would I use for this? Thanks.

  I have an NSTimer declared in my .h and in the viewDidLoad of the /m I have the code: timer = [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:kComplexTimer target:self selector:@selector (main) userInfo:nil repeats:YES]; I also have [timer release]; in my dealloc. However when I exit the view and return to it, the timer has not in fact released, it has doubles in speed! How do I solve this & what am I doing wrong??? Thanks

  Hi There, What I am trying to achieve is a report on daily financial transactions. With my SQL query I would like to count the total number of cash transactions, the total cash value and the same for checks. I only want to do this for a specified date. Here is a snippet of the query that I am having trouble with. These sum and count commands are processing all the data in the table and not for the selected date.   I want to learn Spring. I'd like to start with Spring 3. I want a simple tutorial and/or example. So no full blown web example please. Also - not a trivial example - so something incorporating persistence (e.g. JPA or hibernate) would be nice. Also - I don't want to get bogged down writing XML. So - Annotation based Spring 3 with JPA and/or hibernate. Yes - there is a good reference for Spring 3.0, but it's XML based. I can't find anything else useful. Thanks in advance.

  Hi There, I am currently working on a MySQL query that contains a table: TBL:lesson_fee -fee_type_id (PRI) -lesson_type_id (PRI) -lesson_fee_amount this table contains the fees for a particular 'lesson type' and there are different 'fee names' (fee_type). Which means that there can be many entries in this table for one 'lesson type' In my query I am joining this table onto the rest of the query via the 'lesson_type' table using: lesson_fee INNER JOIN (other joins here) ON lesson_fee.lesson_type_id = lesson_type.lesson_type_id The problem with this is that it is currently returning duplicate data in the result. 1 row for every duplicate entry in the 'lesson fee' table. I am also joining the 'fee type' table using this 'fee_type_id' Is there a way of telling MySQL to say "Join the lesson_fee table rows that have lesson_fee.lesson_type_id and fee_type_id = client.fee_type_id". • PHP Losing variable data

  Hi, I'm having an issue with PHP losing data in a variable. There is quite a bit of data in the variable, because it basically contains a binary file, but I'm wondering if this is cause for it to completely lose it's information. Looking at a snippet from my code which is used to deal with email attachments: var_dump($data) if (array_key_exists('filename', $params) || array_key_exists('name', $params)) { var_dump($data) ... } The first var_dump gives the desired output of the file: "string(283155) " --Apple-Mail-5-930065543 ... etc while the second gives an output of: string(0) "" ... string(0) "" Any idea why this is happening? Does PHP just drop data in variables if they are really large? (I didn't think so, as I've never had this problem before) If so, any workaround? Thanks!
