  • How can I update a Jtextarea once? (mysql side-?)

    - by user1294196
    Ok what I've been trying to do is figure out how to make it so when I press the search button on my program the code that is currently just being printed to the console will print to the text area I have. I can't figure out how to do this and I've searched google and still found no answer. And while I'm at it if anyone could help me figure out how to send this same line of information to a mysql database that would help greatly. package GTE; import java.awt.EventQueue; public class GTE { private JFrame frmGte; • 'SImple' 2 class Java calculator doesn't accept inputs or do calculations

    - by Tony O'Keeffe
    Hi, I'm trying to get a two class java calculator working (new to java) to work but so far i'm having no success. the two classes are outlined below, calcFrame is for the interface and calEngine should do the actual calculations but i can't get them to talk to one another. i'd really appreciate any assistance on same. • JSplitPane overlaps JButtons in BorderLayout, but does not when layout is null

    - by thaweatherman
    So I'm having another issue..... I'm currently using a BorderLayout in my GUI so that when I resize my jframe, all of the internal components resize with it. I couldn't get any other layout to work with how I want the GUI to look while providing this resizing capability. At the top I have a JMenuBar, and below it I have a bunch of buttons. Below that I am supposed to have a JSplitPane, and it is there. However, the buttons seemed to be contained within the JSplitPane, which is not my intention. So when anything happens within the splitpane, the buttons disappear until I move my mouse over them again. When I set my layout to null everything works great except I lose the resizing capability, which is not good. Tried posting images but it wont let me since my rep isnt at 10 yet :( Any suggestions? I've tried putting the buttons into a JPanel then adding the jpanel but the splitpane overlaps with that. Same with a JToolBar. The order in which I add my items is: 1) the menu bar setJMenuBar(menuBar) 2) the buttons getContentPane().add(btnZoomIn) etc. 3) the split pane getContentPane().add(splitPane) then the rest of the things you see after that

  • JPopupMenu returning a null?

    - by Zenzen
    Ok so I'm working on an Eclipse plugin based on the JGraph example. The problem is I can't really get the "save" method to work, here's how the program works in short: - I have a DiagramEditor class with an init() method, where I create a GraphEditor object and call the createFrame() methord of that object. - GraphEditor extends the BasicGraphEditor (which extends JPanel), the createFrame() method returns a JFrame and has a line "frame.setJMenuBar(menuBar)" - the "menuBar" is an object variable, which is initialized in the BasicGraphEditor. Till here everything is cool, the problem is with the action listener which is supposed to save a file. To get the graph I need to get the GraphEditor component, so I do a Component component = (Component) e.getSource() whitch is the ActionEvent passed to that action listener and at that stage is the JMenuItem "save", then I get the parent which is the JPopupMenu, then I want to get that JPopupMenu's parent which should be the GraphEdiotor, but instead I get a null. Any idea why? Here's some source code: DiagramEditor.java: @Override public void init(IEditorSite site, IEditorInput input) throws PartInitException { setSite(site); setInput(input); this.diagram = ((DiagramEditorInput)input).getDiagram(); setPartName(this.diagram.getName()); gEditor = new GraphEditor(); gEditor.createFrame().setVisible(true); } BasicGraphEditor.java: public JFrame createFrame() { JFrame frame = new JFrame(); frame.getContentPane().add(this); frame.setJMenuBar(menuBar); //frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); frame.setSize(870, 640); return frame; } In the constructor: menuBar = new JMenuBar(); menu = new JMenu("File"); menu.setMnemonic(KeyEvent.VK_F); menuBar.add(menu); JMenuItem openMenuItem = new JMenuItem("Open", KeyEvent.VK_O); // ADD FILE OPENING //openMenuItem.addActionListener(menuListener); menu.add(openMenuItem); JMenuItem saveMenuItem = new JMenuItem("Save", new ImageIcon("/images/save.gif")); saveMenuItem.setMnemonic(KeyEvent.VK_S); saveMenuItem.addActionListener( new SaveAction(false) ); menu.add(saveMenuItem); // menu.add(new SaveAction(false)); JMenuItem saveMenuItemAs = new JMenuItem("SaveAs", new ImageIcon("/images/saveas.gif")); //saveMenuItemAs.setMnemonic(KeyEvent.VK_S); saveMenuItemAs.addActionListener( new SaveAction(true) ); menu.add(saveMenuItemAs); //menu.add(new SaveAction(true)); JMenuItem closeMenuItem = new JMenuItem("Close", KeyEvent.VK_C); closeMenuItem.addActionListener( new ActionListener() { public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { System.exit(0); } } ); menu.add(closeMenuItem);

  • How to solve JAVA menubar, layout and panel problem ?

    - by Berkay
    i'm not a java guy however i start implementing some security tools with java, in these days i'm creating a gui for my security tools : Here is the how my Gui looks: menuBar = new JMenuBar(); // construct menu bar // hash functions fileMenu = new JMenu("HASH FUNCTIONS"); // define file menu fileMenu.setMnemonic('H'); // shortcut hashes = new JMenuItem("Md5&Sha1"); // define file menu options hashes.setMnemonic('M'); hashes.addActionListener(this); fileMenu.add(hashes); menuBar.add(fileMenu); // add file menu to menu bar // symmetric encryption asMenu = new JMenu("SYMMETRIC ENCRYPTION"); // define format menu asMenu.setMnemonic('S'); // shortcut desItem = new JMenuItem("DES"); // define format menu options desItem.setMnemonic('D'); desItem.addActionListener(this); asMenu.add(desItem); ... ... menuBar.add(helpMenu); // add help menu to menu bar setJMenuBar(menuBar); // put menu bar on application textColor = Color.RED; when from the Menu desitem is selected, desvar is just for not showing the panel multiple times, it calls Panels () else if(e.getSource() == desItem && desvar ==1 ) { // make other panels unvisible. if(hashvar!=1) MyPanel.setVisible(false);//hash functions if(rsavar!=1) MyPanel3.setVisible(false);//rsa function if (dhvar!=1) MyPanel4.setVisible(false);//dh diffie hellman hashvar=1; rsavar=1; dhvar=1; ++desvar; desPanel=true; Panels(); } and in Panels() Method: if (hashPanel){ MyPanel.add("West",radioSHA1); MyPanel.add("West",radioMD5); MyPanel.add("Center", inputField); MyPanel.add("East",SubmitButton); MyPanel.add("South",resultHash); add(MyPanel); validate(); hashPanel=false; } i have many panels for example : -hash functions=mypanel1 , des=mypanel2, rsa functions= mypanel3 , dh= mypanel4 However in may other panals such as rsa function: i have to use some layout properties of the java:in this panel i selected to use gridbaglayout if (dhPanel){ System.out.println("rsa panel burda misin"); MyPanel3.add(pqLabel); MyPanel3.add(pLabel); MyPanel3.add(pTextArea); MyPanel3.add(qLabel); ... ... add(MyPanel3); generate_pqButton.addActionListener(this); calculate_nButton.addActionListener(this); ... ... • Calling class in Java after editing file used in as source for table

    - by user2892290
    I'm currently working on a project, I'll try to subrscibe first. I save data into text file, that I use as a source for browser of that data. The browser is based on table that contains the data. I have to rewrite the source file everytime I delete or edit data. That's where the problem comes in. After deleting or editing data I call a method to create the table again, but the table never creates. Is it possibly made by editing the file and calling the method right after that? If I restart my app the table is successfully created with right data. Take in note that I don't get any error message. This is the method I use for loading data from source file: try (BufferedReader input1 = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("./src/data.src"))) { int lines = 0; while (input1.read() != -1) { if (!(input1.readLine()).equals("")) { lines++; } } input1.close(); if (lines == 0) { JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "No data to load, create a note first!"); new Writer().build(frame); } else { try (BufferedReader input = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("./src/data.src"))) { Game[] g = new Game[lines]; String currentLine; String[] help; int counter = 0; while (lines > 0) { currentLine = input.readLine(); help = currentLine.split("#"); g[counter] = new Game(help[0],help[1], help[2], help[3], help[4], help[5], help[6], help[7], help[8], help[9]); counter++; lines--; } input.close(); final JButton bButton = new backButton().create(frame, mPanel); build(g, frame, bButton); mPanel.add(panel); mPanel.add(panel2); mPanel.add(searchPanel); mPanel.add(bButton); bButton.addActionListener(new ActionListener() { @Override public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { frame.setCursor(Cursor.getPredefinedCursor(Cursor.WAIT_CURSOR)); panel.removeAll(); frame.setCursor(Cursor.getDefaultCursor()); } }); mPanel.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(1000, 750)); panel.setBorder(new EmptyBorder(10, 10, 10, 10)); frame.setLayout(new FlowLayout()); frame.add(mPanel); frame.pack(); JMenuBar menuBar = new Menu().create(frame, mPanel); frame.setJMenuBar(menuBar); frame.setVisible(true); Rectangle rec = GraphicsEnvironment.getLocalGraphicsEnvironment().getMaximumWindowBounds(); int width = (int) rec.getWidth(); int height = (int) rec.getHeight(); frame.setBounds(1, 3, width, height); frame.addComponentListener(new ComponentAdapter() { @Override public void componentMoved(ComponentEvent e) { frame.setLocation(1, 3); } }); And this is the method I use for creating the table: String[][] tableData = new String[g.length][9]; for (int i = 0; i < tableData.length; i++) { tableData[i][0] = g[i].getChampion(); tableData[i][1] = g[i].getRole(); tableData[i][2] = g[i].getEnemy(); tableData[i][3] = g[i].getDifficulty(); tableData[i][4] = g[i].getResult(); tableData[i][5] = g[i].getScore(); tableData[i][6] = g[i].getGameType(); tableData[i][7] = g[i].getPoints(); tableData[i][8] = g[i].getLeague(); } final JLabel searchLabel = new JLabel("Search for champion played."); final JButton searchButton = new JButton("Search"); final JTextField searchText = new JTextField(20); frame.setTitle("LoL Notepad - reading your notes"); JTable table = new JTable(tableData, columnNames); final JScrollPane scrollPane = new JScrollPane(table); scrollPane.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(980, 500)); panel2.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(1000, 550)); panel2.setVisible(false); panel2.setBorder(new EmptyBorder(10, 10, 10, 10)); panel3.setVisible(false); panel.setLayout(new FlowLayout()); panel.add(scrollPane); searchPanel.add(searchLabel); searchPanel.add(searchText); searchPanel.add(searchButton); searchButton.addActionListener(new ActionListener() { @Override public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { try { frame.setCursor(Cursor.getPredefinedCursor(Cursor.WAIT_CURSOR)); search(g, searchText.getText(), frame, bButton); frame.setCursor(Cursor.getDefaultCursor()); } catch (IOException ex) { Logger.getLogger(Reader.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex); } } }); table.addMouseListener(new MouseAdapter() { @Override public void mousePressed(MouseEvent e) { if (e.getClickCount() == 1) { JTable target = (JTable) e.getSource(); panel.setVisible(false); searchPanel.setVisible(false); bButton.setVisible(false); int row = target.getSelectedRow(); specific(row, g, frame, bButton); } } });
