• Xorg crashes ever since using Nvidia dual monitors

  Well ever since I have used dual monitors with the NVIDIA X Server Settings program my xorg process has been crashing after a while, and its generally a pretty long while of like 6 hours afterwards. Before NVIDIA changed my xorg.conf file I only had xorg crash like twice in 2 months, I can't figure out what is going on. • Any Flex 4 migration experience?

  My current development stack is MySQL + iBatis + Spring + Spring BlazeDS Integration 1.01 + BlazeDS 3.2 and Flex 3 with Mate 0.8.9 framework. Now Flash Builder 4 beta 2 is out. There are cool features like Data Centric Development (DCD), form generation etc... Do you know how Spring Blazeds Integration works with BlazeDS 4? What about Mate? Is there any issues with Flex 4 ? How DCD suits with mate eventmaps. I know it is better to try it out myself but I just want to check if somebody ever tried to migrate Flex 4. If so what are the issues? Did you notice any productivity speed up? Thanks.

  I'm using the Mate framework for Flex and communicating with a server running C#. I'm having trouble mapping C# classes to ActopnScript classes. I've got it working fine for simple classes and built in datatypes. If I have a C# method in my API that returns a API.Foo.Result what name do I use for my RemoteClass alias? Do I need to make a separate ActionScript class for each variation of the API.Foo.Result? How do I call C# method that takes a class as a parameter? Making an ActionScript class with members with the same names doesn't seem to work. What is the best way to handle C# classes that contain arrays of objects? The seem to get converted to ArrayCollections of Object. Is there a way to get them converted to an ArrayCollection of my specific class?

  I have created a simple form to create an instance of a modle and for some reason it is not calling the create method in the controller. I am fairly new to rails but I have made other apps with similar forms, and I have never had this problem before. I can create and save Mate objects in the console, and I am not getting any errors, so it seem that somehow the controller method is not being called. Any help is much appreciated!

( as of now , those DI,DAO,VO and IoC doesnt make much sense to me apart from full form. ) . i needed to do pretty serious stuff after around eight month or so. should that be enough time for learning flex ? thanks in advance.   I installed the MATE desktop using this manual but now i can't open my Ubuntu Software Center and can't open the settings from the update manager.   Hi, I'm not a software expert but need to outsource a web-based scientific GUI application, and I'm considering Adobe Flex. My math routines are currently in Javascript and C/C+. Having no experience with Flex, was hoping someone could help me understand what options are available for performing (preferably fast and efficient) CLIENT-side calculations. That is, can Flex interact with Javascript and/or C easily? If not, is actionscript or other language preferred? Downsides/tradeoffs? Need functions like LOG10, LN, SQRT, and would be nice to also have the error function (ERF) and complementary error function (ERFC), although I may be able to derive these last two from more basic functions if necessary. • Is there an Alternative to TextMate's mate and rmate for Windows?

  As part of the upcoming TextMate 2 release, there will be a new feature called rmate, which will allow you to edit files from a remote machine (Linux/Unix/OSX) via SSH using your local copy of TextMate... Is there something similar for Windows? I know i could use CyberDuck, find the file i want to edit, download locally, work on it and then re-upload, but rmate looks like you just type rmate on the remote server, and text mate pops up with the file. (i have not tried since i am not a TextMate owner) Is there something similar for Windows?

• getting Ubuntu-quality fonts / configuration under Cygwin/X

  I have Cygwin/X installed on a Win7 box. I also have an Ubuntu VM running on the Win7 host. If I do the following: Start Xming on the Win7 box Start mate-terminal under Cygwin/X then mate-terminal starts up with very crappy-looking fonts and a blinking cursor. (I'm using "Monospace 10" in mate-terminal.) If I then do: Use putty to ssh into the Ubuntu VM (fowarding the X connection) Run gnome-settings-daemon on the Ubuntu VM then the fonts in mate-terminal suddenly become much better looking and the cursor stops blinking (probably because I've configured it that way in Ubuntu.) Question: How can I get the better-looking fonts and the ability to set cursor-blinks option for mate-terminal under Cygwin/X without having to run the Ubuntu VM? FWIW, I have Xming-fonts-7-5-0-4 installed. Update: Starting Xming with '-dpi 101' as suggested here helps, but the fonts are still not anti-aliased.

  I'm running Linux Mint 13 MATE 64-bit. Everything has been working for several weeks. Yesterday, when I tried to boot up my computer, after the BIOS screen flashes I reach a screen with a black background that reads at the top: GNU GRUB version1.99-21ubuntu3.4 Then there is a box in which I can select from the following lines: Linux Mint 13 MATE 64-bit, 3.2.0-31-generic (/dev/sdb2) Linux Mint 13 MATE 64-bit, 3.2.0-31-generic (/dev/sdb2) -- recovery mode Previous Linux versions Memory test (memtest86+) Memory test (memtest86+, serial console 115200) At the bottom it reads: Use the ? and ? keys to select which entry is highlighed. Press enter to boot the selected OS, 'e' to edit the commands before booting or 'c' for a command-line. I have no idea why it started doing this and, worse, I have no idea how to get out of here. No matter which option I select, I can't get it to boot the OS. If I select either of the first two, it reboots to splash the BIOS and then I'm right back where I started. If I choose "Previous Linux versions" I get essentially the same screen with only two choices (which are the same as the first two choices listed above, Linux 13 MATE and the recovery mode). Again, choosing either one of those results in a reboot. If I try to run either of the memtest options, it reads: error: unknown command 'linux16', Press any key to continue... • Catalyst forgets monitor settings after reboot or log out in 12.10

  I have a Samsung monitor connected to my ATI Radeon graphic card via HDMI. By default the screen has a black border around, but I can disable it in the Catalyst menu to get full screen. (There is a scalebar that I have to set to the highest value.) My problem is that every time I turn off and on my computer it changes back and I have to set it up again. It is really annoying. Is there any way to make this setting permanent? Notes: 1. I open Catalyst with admin rights. 2. When I open the Catalyst settings menu, it looks like that it keeps my settings, because the scalebar stays at the highest point, but still it doesn't scale up my screen until I move back and forth the scale bar to the same point

They said: In Java there are more methods, you don't need to code more as in C/C++. • Display Problems running Ubuntu 12.04 in Windows VMware Player

  I am posting this again because I have changed to VMWare Player and I discovered something new. I am running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Guest) in VMWare Player 6.0.2 on Windows 7 64-bit Host. I have VMWare Tools installed properly. I am running MATE but the problem persists when I change (to and from) xfce, gnome, mate a-- and back again I had been using this for a couple of years without any graphics issues. After an Ubuntu update (typical) -- my video is corrupt and will not refresh correctly. My desktop icons are "mirrored" and when I open a terminal window (for instance) -- sometimes -- the window appears multiple times. Of course, only one is the real image. It seems to be a refresh problem. When I move an active window around the screen the "older" images "erase" and my icons (for instance) are in the correct location. For instance, I can move the terminal around a pretty corrupted window and the screen behind it is repainted correctly. NEW: Next, I got the idea to try and Remote Desktop in to the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Guest OS from my Windows 7 64-bit Host. Once working, and connected via Win RDC -- using MATE as default in my /etc/xrdp/startws.sh -- my video is not corrupted and works fine (as in the past). Any ideas about what is going on ? or how to fix this ?

  I'm following a video tutorial where the author (who uses textmate) can open files by using "mate". for example mate .git/config will open this config file I'm using textwrangler however so I don't have that option. I did try edit .README once when i tried to open the README file of an application, but it opened a blank README file in textwrangler instead of the file with the text in it so any idea how I can open this .git/config file (or any other file) using textwrangler? I'm using Mac snow leopard

• Partitioning Windows 7 so I can use ubuntu

  I have been recording happily using Audacity for many years but after upgrading to Windows 7, the latency has meant that recording music is impossible. My mate suggested partitioning my hard drive, installing ubuntu on it and then using this alongside Windows. He reckons I can use music recording software then on the partitioned Ubuntu drive without the latency problems. A few questions: a) Is my mate correct? b) How do I go about doing the partition and installing? c) What music recording software would you recommend? Many many thanks to anyone who can help me.
