• Standard and reliable mouse-reporting with GLUT

    - by Victor
    Hello! I'm trying to use GLUT (freeglut) in my OpenGL application, and I need to register some callbacks for mouse wheel events. I managed to dig out a fairly undocumented function: api documentation But the man page and the API entry for this function both state the same thing: Note: Due to lack of information about the mouse, it is impossible to implement this correctly on X at this time. Use of this function limits the portability of your application. (This feature does work on X, just not reliably.) You are encouraged to use the standard, reliable mouse-button reporting, rather than wheel events. Fair enough, but how do I use this standard, reliable mouse-reporting? And how do I know which is the standard? Do I just use glutMouseFunc() and use button values like 4 and 5 for the scroll up and down values respectively, say if 1, 2 and 3 are the left, middle and right buttons? Is this the reliable method? Bonus question: it seems the `xev' tool is reporting different values for my buttons. My mouse buttons are numbered from 1 to 5 with xev, but glut is reporting buttons from 0 to 4, i.e. an off-by-one. Is this common?

  • mouse wheel operates on scrollbar

    - by basicblock
    If a SWF file or even a component within it has scrollbars, wouldn't it make sense that if the user is hovered over that area (it's in focus) and uses the mouse wheel, that this movement would automatically translate to the scrollbar moving. Any ideas how this is done, the events or classes used for this? I'm open to outside components or classes too. I haven't started yet, but I'll do an item renderer because it's easy to give it scrollbar.

  • How to add a cross-browser mouse wheel function to a div in javascript?

    - by Shaunwithanau
    I am trying to stop the default mouse wheel event that is called on the window and on a div and call my own function instead on the div. I need this to be cross-browser (without the use of a library. I know I need to use an eventListener and I think have to use both onmousewheel and DOMMouseScroll (for FF) but I think am getting caught up in the implementation somewhere. I appreciate any and all help.

  • Cakephp, JQuery JCarousel Lite, Error

    - by ion
    I am using the following code to make an unordered list into a carousel with jcarousel lite and jquery: <?php echo $this->Html->script(array('jquery-1.4.2.min','jquery.easing.1.1','jcarousellite_1.0.1.pack','jquery.mousewheel.min'), array('inline' => false)); ?> <?php echo $this->Html->scriptStart(array('inline' => false)); ?> $(document).ready(function() { $(".mouseWheelButtons .jCarouselLite").jCarouselLite({ btnNext: ".mouseWheelButtons .next", btnPrev: ".mouseWheelButtons .prev", mouseWheel: true, circular: false, start: 0, visible: 5, easing: "easein" }); }); <?php echo $this->Html->scriptEnd(); ?> However I'm getting the following javascript error in firebug: a[0] is undefined Does anyone know what is causing the error. I am using the packed version of jcarousel lite. The thing is that the code worked in cakephp 1.2 but now i'm using 1.3 and I have updated the syntax using scriptstart, scriptEnd and Html-script.

  • How to implement JQuery easing into this window scroll movement function?

    - by Mohammad
    With this code I've been able to capture the mousewheel movement and apply it to the horizontal scroll bars instead of the vertical default. $('html').bind('mousewheel', function(event, delta) { window.parent.scrollBy(-120 * delta, 0); return false; }); Is there any way that I could add this jQuery easing animation to the scroll movement? jQuery.extend( jQuery.easing, { easeInOutBack: function (x, t, b, c, d, s) { if (s == undefined) s = 1.70158; if ((t/=d/2) < 1) return c/2*(t*t*(((s*=(1.525))+1)*t - s)) + b; return c/2*((t-=2)*t*(((s*=(1.525))+1)*t + s) + 2) + b; } }); Thank you so much in advance!

  • Chrome is leaking memory, when jQuery is used on events?

    - by user269386
    Hi, I'm experiencing an increase of memory usage, when I use the jQuery-eventhandling in Chrome. I've tested it with IE and FF as well, but there I couldn't see a suspicious rise of memory-usage, compared to Chrome. I'm using Chrome version 4.0.223.16 (unfortunately I'm forced to use this version, here) Simple example here. Just scroll with the mousewheel in the red box and open the Chrome-taskmanager and you will see an increase of memory which won't be released anymore:

Does anyone have experienced the same problem (or is it maybe solvend with a different version of chrome)? And does anyone have a fix for it? thanks

  • Mouse wheel on Dell Vostro V13

    - by Scaine
    I have a Dell Vostro V13, which Canonical claim is "Certified" for Ubuntu (http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/make/Dell/laptops). So it surprises me that the synaptics trackpad isn't recognised as such and defaults to psmouse emulation. This means no multitouch, no gestures, and more importantly, no mousewheel scrolling. Because it's not loading the synaptic driver, running gpointing-device-settings doesn't help. I've found this bug : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/380126 which suggests a fix has been committed, but I can't see a way of getting this loaded on my Maverick build. I've tried backports and proposed repos in synaptic, but no joy. Any ideas?

  • Middle mouse click in VirtualBox (Vista host, Debian guest)

    - by Ken
    I'm running Virtualbox on Windows Vista. I have a Microsoft USB mouse (it says "Comfort Optical Mouse 3000") with left and right buttons, and a mousewheel in the middle. If I press down on the wheel, it pretty obviously makes a "click". I'm running Debian inside Virtualbox, and it's working great, but middle-mouse-click does nothing. Left and right click, and scrolling with the wheel, work fine. Is there any way to get middle-mouse-click to work in my virtual machine?

  • can't implement jquery jScrollPane to replace browser's scrollbars

    - by Zack
    I am trying to replace browser's scrollbars with jScrollPane (jQuery), it won't work. Here are two attempts to implement it: a basic attempt, and an attempt to imitate the full page demo for jScrollPane. I've been trying everything I could think of to figure out what didn't work, but couldn't. here is my code:

This is the most basic implementation of jScrollPane I could create, if I am not wrong this has all it should take, yet it doesn't work. a little lorem ipsum to make the scrollbars show up: [here come's lot's of lorem ipsum text in the actual page...]

The other option is the same, with a link to demo.css and demo.js.

  • Having trouble with multiple Jquery libraries

    - by user3716971
    I've seen the posts about the no conflict but I'm not very code savvy and can't figure it out alone. I'm having trouble making two libraries work together. At the top I have the 1.9.1 library which controls a news ticker, and a carousel. Near the bottom there is a library 1.6.1, which controls a Dribbble feed. If I remove 1.6.1 everything but the dribbble feed works, and if I remove the 1.9.1 the dribbble feed is the only thing that works. I uploaded the website for you guys to check out. If you could edit my code to make it work that would be amazing, I don't have much knowledge of jquery. This version has a working dribbble feed at the very bottom http://michaelcullenbenson.com/MichaelCullenBenson.com/index.html and this version has a broken feed and everything else works. http://michaelcullenbenson.com/MichaelCullenBenson.com/index2.html Help would be AMAZING as the dribbble feed is the last element I'm trying to finish on my homepage and I'll be able to move on.

  • Lubuntu Stability Problems

    - by marinara
    I installed Lubuntu 11.10 from scratch a few days ago, now I can't even run aptitude without crashing from the mess it's made of the package system. (yes I added a non-offical repository, because I needed firefox 8) I'm a new user. So I don't know. Did I make a mistake by loading Lubuntu? I really like the LXDE stuff. but so many things seem very buggy. ***edit I think besides the sound problems, all of my other problems are with either LXDE or with openbox. And I think the sound problem is Lubuntu specific also. Problems like windows not popping up, windows not getting painted. Windows flashing in the panel for no reason, Windows losing their title bar occasionally, mousewheel changing desktops when i'm clearly in a window, LXDE panel not responding to clicks, applications not launching from the menu, applications not launching from firefox downloads window, applications crashing when I don't do anything but click on them. Pretty sure all this stuff is openbox or LXDE. This is just too much work to keep Lubuntu running. It's a lemon. (sorry I realize I should be constructive but I'm tired) It's pretty clear that openbox needs some damn bugfixes for compatibility with Oneric. And LXDE isn't that great either. I expect things to launch when I click on them. I think installing the acpid package is what made it clear to me. If 20 seconds after installing the package (from the offical repo), linux has already crashed, then I'm in the wrong damn neighborhood.

  • How can I install Insight debugger?

    - by DandyWalker
    Hello. I am following along a book in which Insight debugger is required. I didn't find it on my Maverick. I googled and I found that it's not supported in debian anymore but I really need to install it. I tried to compile the source and it installed but keep telling me that tk is missing whenever i start it. I installed tk with sudo aptitude install tk then tried to run again it's the same. I compiled it one more time and nothing really changes. So please how can I install that ? Update: This is the message i get Tk_Init failed: Can't find a usable tk.tcl in the following directories: /usr/local/share/tk8.4 /usr/local/lib/tk8.4 /usr/lib/tk8.4 /usr/local/library /usr/library /usr/tk8.4.1/library /tk8.4.1/library /usr/local/share/tk8.4/tk.tcl: no event type or button # or keysym no event type or button # or keysym while executing "bind Listbox <MouseWheel> { %W yview scroll [expr {- (%D / 120) * 4}] units }" (file "/usr/local/share/tk8.4/listbox.tcl" line 182) invoked from within "source /usr/local/share/tk8.4/listbox.tcl" (in namespace eval "::" script line 1) invoked from within "namespace eval :: [list source [file join $::tk_library $file.tcl]]" (procedure "SourceLibFile" line 2) invoked from within "SourceLibFile listbox" (in namespace eval "::tk" script line 4) invoked from within "namespace eval ::tk { SourceLibFile button SourceLibFile entry SourceLibFile listbox SourceLibFile menu SourceLibFile panedwindow SourceLibFile ..." invoked from within "if {$::tk_library ne ""} { if {[string equal $tcl_platform(platform) "macintosh"]} { proc ::tk::SourceLibFile {file} { if {[catch { namesp..." • Basic Mouse Features in Silverlight

    - by Sayre Collado
    Hi Guys, I have basic sample on how to use some features of mouse events in Silverlight. The picture. The Mouse Activity Log is to record the all activity done on the projects. My simple snippets on how to add on the textbox is: protected void MessageLog(string msg) { txtMouseLog.Text += msg; } For the Mouse Wheel sample this is the snippets: private void chkMouseWheel_Checked(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { image1.MouseWheel += new MouseWheelEventHandler(image1_MouseWheel); } void image1_MouseWheel(object sender, MouseWheelEventArgs e) { ImgScale.ScaleX = e.Delta > 0 ? ImgScale.ScaleX * 1.5 : ImgScale.ScaleX * 0.8; ImgScale.ScaleY = e.Delta > 0 ? ImgScale.ScaleY * 1.5 : ImgScale.ScaleY * 0.8; e.Handled = true; } And the XAML:
            <Image.RenderTransform>                 <ScaleTransform x:Name="ImgScale"></ScaleTransform>            </Image.RenderTransform>        </Image     I have also the showing of mouse position:           private void Mouse_MouseMove(object sender, MouseEventArgs e)         {             Point point = e.GetPosition(this);             lblMouseLocation.Content = "X: " + point.X + "and Y: " + point.Y;         }           private void checkBox1_Checked(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)         {             lblMouseLocation.Visibility = Visibility.Visible;             MessageLog("Mouse Location Visible\n");         }           private void checkBox1_Unchecked(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)         {             lblMouseLocation.Visibility = Visibility.Collapsed;             MessageLog("Mouse Location Collapsed\n");            And even the counting of clicked event:           int clicked = 0;         private void LayoutRoot_MouseLeftButtonDown(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e)         {             Point point = e.GetPosition(this);             clicked++;               string msg = "Mouse Clicked " + clicked.ToString() + " time(s) " +                                     "Mouse Location X and Y: " + point.X + " " + point.Y + "\n";               MessageLog(msg);         }     And now the result of above snippets. Happy Programming.

  • How to differentiate between scrollbar click events and scrollbar drag events?

    - by Sameer
    I need to scroll an EXT-GWT grid by some custom amount instead of the default 1-2 rows. Since I couldn't find any parameter that let me do this, I overrode the event handler to capture scroll or mousewheel events. On any such event, I just programmatically move the scroller further by the required amount in the same direction, keeping a flag to ensure that it doesn't go into an infinite loop. However, this technique fails when the user scrolls the grid with the scroller. Specifically, when I drag the scroller from some position to the top of the scroll track, the rows displayed in the grid are not the topmost rows in the grid but some rows further down. I figured that if I could differentiate between the events generated by the scroll-up and scroll-down buttons and those generated by scroller drag, I could handle them separately and rectify the issue. Any way this could be done? Or is there a way to specify the amount by which a scrollbar should scroll in one step? Thanks -Sameer

  • mouse tracking on IE

    - by Gotys
    Consider the following snippet: $(document).bind('mousemove', function(e) { $('#someDiv').css({left: e.pageX+'px', top: e.pageY+'px'}); }); This should make #someDiv follow the mouse (tooltip), when the css value for "position" is set to absolute. Works as expected, except when you Zoom IN or OUT in IE7 ( dind't try other version of IE). Then the e.pageX gets completely off. The more you zoom in (using your mousewheel + CTRL), the more off the positioning gets. I've tried to break jQuery's UI demos (sliders) and it seems not even jQuery guys have this figured out. Is there any genius out there who knows how to fix this nasty thing? Thanks in advance!

  • Is it possible to scroll in isearch mode?

    - by Leo Alekseyev
    Is there a way to scroll through a document without exiting isearch mode? I have isearch-allow-scroll set to t, but that limits my scroll range to make sure the current isearch match is visible in the buffer. Ideally, I would like to be able to scroll with the mousewheel, having all the isearch matches highlighted as I scroll. I am aware of M-x occur, but a lot of the time simply being able to scroll in isearch mode would be more efficient (in addition, M-x occur does not play well with folding mode).

  • GNU/Linux interactive table content GUI editor?

    - by sdaau
    I often find myself in the need to gather data (say from the internet), into a table, for comparison reasons. I usually need the final table output in HTML or MediaWiki mostly, but often times also Latex. My biggest problem is that I often forget the correct table syntax for these markup languages, as well as what needs to be properly escaped in the inline data, for the table to render correctly. So, I often wish there was a GUI application, which provides a tabular framework - which I could stick "Always on Top" as a desktop window, and I could paste content into specific cells - before finally exporting the table as a code in the correct language. One application that partially allows this is Open/LibreOffice calc: The good thing here is that: I can drag and drop browser content into a specifically targeted table cell (here B2) "Rich" text / HTML code gets pasted For long content, the cell (column) width stays put as it originally was The bad thing is, that: when the cell height (due to content size) becomes larger than the calc window, it becomes nearly impossible to scroll calc contents up and down (at least with the mousewheel), as the view gets reset to top-right corner of the selected cell calc shows an "endless"/unlimited field of cells, so not exactly a "table" - which I find visually very confusing (and cognitively taxing) Can only export table to HTML What I would need is an application that: Allows for a limited size table, but with quick adding of rows and columns (e.g. via corresponding + buttons) Allows for quick setup of row and column height and width (as well as table size) Stays put at those sizes, regardless of size of content pasted in; if cell content overflows, cell scrollbars are shown (cell content could be possibly re-edited in a separate/new window); if table overflows over window size, window scrollbars are shown Exports table in multiple formats (I'd need both HTML and mediawiki), properly escaping cell content for each (possibility to strip HTML tags from content pasted in cells, to get plain text, is a plus) Targeting a specific cell in the table for the content paste operation is a must - it doesn't have to be drag'n'drop though, a right click over a cell with "Paste content" is enough. I'd also want the ability to click in a specific cell and type in (plain text) content immediately. So, my question is: is there an application out there that already does something like this? The reason I'm asking is that - as the screenshots show - for instance Libre/OpenOffice allows it, but only somewhat (as using it for that purpose is tedious). I know there exist some GUI editors for Linux (both for UI like guile or HTML like amaya); but I don't know them enough to pinpoint if any of them would offer this kind of functionality (and at least in my searches, that kind of functionality, if present in diverse software, seems not to be advertised). Note I'm not interested in styling an HTML table, which is why I haven't used "table designer" in the title, but "table editor" (in lack of better terms) - I'm interested in (quickly) adjusting row/column size of the table, and populating it with pasted data (which is possibly HTML) in a GUI; and finally exporting such a table as self-contained HTML (or other) code.

  • How to autostart this slide

    - by lchales
    Hello there: first of all i have no idea on coding or anything related, simple question: is there any simple way to tell this code to autostart the slide? at the current moment the images change on click. currently the index page only have one image, what i want is to add a few but without the need to click to see the next one here is the code from my index:  // /* the images preload plugin */ (function($) { $.fn.preload = function(options) { var opts = $.extend({}, $.fn.preload.defaults, options), o = $.meta ? $.extend({}, opts, this.data()) : opts;
