  • GLSL Shader Effects: How to do motion blur, etc?

    I am not sure how right it is to ask this question, but still here it goes. I have a full 2D environment, with sprites going around as landscape, characters, etc And to make it more state-of-art looking, i want to implement a motion blur effect, similar to modern FPS's (i.e. crysis) blur when moving fast the camera. In a sidescroller, the desired effect is having this slight blur appearing to give the idea of fast movement, when the camera is moving. If anyone could give me some tips on doing this, im assuming in a pixel shader, i'd be grate. Also, if anyone has other good tips on cool pixel shader effects for 2D games it would be awesome, like some stylizing post fx, such as previous Prince of Persia illustrative style. Thanks

    Dell Dimension 2350 with a Pentium IV processor and integrated video and network chips running Fedora12 does a "Sleeping Beauty" and I, apparently, am not am not a "handsome prince"! The system puts video and network to sleep and it will not wakeup. I have heard of this problem on laptops, but this is a tower. Any ideas or help is appreciated. I tried to ping the network card from another system and ping fails. The logs indicate that the system continues to be active. Pressing keyboard short-cut keys makes the disk light blink but neither the video or network card comes alive. Failing all else, are there any Linux commands that I could schedule in cron to pulse video and network adapters hourly that will keep them awake? Or, should I wait on Fedora13? Before this machine, I built a Dimension 2400 with Pentium IV and it had the same problem. Fedora9 on the same hardware is fine.

  • What went wrong with my curl install?

    I'm fresher than the prince to Linux, I've been following the instructions here: http://chrisfulstow.com/running-node-js-on-windows-with-virtualbox-and-ubuntu (the link tells what I am generally trying to do). I'm all up and running in VBox, and am at the curl install part, I may have done the curl part a week ago I forget. So I ran this command anyway: danjah@danjah-VirtualBox:~$ sudo apt-get install curl Result: [sudo] password for danjah: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done curl is already the newest version. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. Then: $ curl http://npmjs.org/install.sh | sudo npm_install=rc sh Result: fetching: { gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file /bin/tar: Child returned status 1 /bin/tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now It failed Should I be concerned? How can I test curl? How can I avoid these situations? Perhaps there's a generic way of checking to see if I've already installed packages/etc?   • Install a i386 printer driver into an amd64 distribution or how can I find a good printer based on features?

    Hi, I just bought a Lexmark Interpret S408 all-in-one printer. The box said that it supported Ubuntu 8.04, but I told myself it should work with Lucid... well no. The only driver I have found is for i386 while I have a amd64 image installed; the architecture is incompatible. So, the quesiton is : Is it possible to install that driver anyway, somehow? Or do I need to take that printer back to the store and buy another one? If the latter is the only alternative, I need a printer that has wireless connection capability can do color printing is of good price (less than $200 CAD) Thank you for your answers, help, and tips. ** UPDATE ** The driver was given in the form of deb package (for Debian distributions) and I managed to extract the actual deb package driver out of the install program. I ran sudo dpkg -i --force-all lexmark-inkjet-09-driver-1.5-1.i386.deb and the driver installed, and I was able to print something out. But that pretty much ends there; I cannot access anymore of the printer settings, etc. (i.g. scanner, fax, wifi settings, etc.) I should suffice for now as I'm satisfied with the printer's features (and size, and prince), but if I could have a full-linux-supported printer like that one, I would return this one in exchange for the other.

I need to do this in my model, vs using a ModelForm. If there is another way to do it (while still in clean()), I'm completely open to any suggestions.

    hi, I want to create a collapsible grid in Silverlight 4. once user clicks on row of the datagrid if that row has any child row it should be shown. if again user clicks the same row should hide the child row what was shown eariler. right now i am able to show data in datagrid once the user clicks any row i am able get the id of the row what i have clicked and go to DB and get the result. but how will i again bind the new datatable to datagrid agin. below the row what i have clciked private void dgData2_MouseLeftButtonUp(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e) { if (dgData2.SelectedIndex >= 0) { //Get Selected Row var element = (TextBlock)dgData2.Columns[0].GetCellContent(dgData2.SelectedItem); } } i am new to silverlight please let me know any code that can help e out Thanks in advance for any help prince

    hi, i have 3 data grid placed working fine with expand and collapse. now i have an requirement where i have an grid with four columns starting from name age mailId address once user moves mouse over the *name column only. i need to call the MouseEnter Event* here i am showing an pop grid whereas when i move mouse over the other columns like i need call the MouseLeave Event here i need to hide the pop grid right now once user click on the row on any column values i am showing an pop up grid with all the details of that row. here i am using Selection Changed Event is there any way i can achieve this functionality like on move mouse over only the first column need to display the data and call the mouse events thanks in advance looking for an help. i am at few steps away from the solution let me know how to solve it. prince

    hi, here i am performing nested grid operation where in my first datagrid . have name,age,address once user clicks the row we will be showing another grid that is with data Subject name and Score untill here the functionality works fine . 1:now the Question is that i should be displaying an image along with score in the same column( how can i achive this one) 2:Depending on the score i need to show an image( binding different image based on score) 1 :that is if score is 20 show ( ~images/image1.jpg) 2 :that is if score is 40 show ( ~images/image2.jpg) 3 :that is if score is 20 show (~images/ image3.jpg) output [ in a grid format] subject score science 45 image3 maths 50 image2 Computer 60 image1 general 78 image1 how do we solve this issue . any idea how to go ahead. please let me know. hope my question is clear thanks in advance prince
