The reports are stored in the SVN repository. when a change occurs, they are automatically downloaded from the repository, and any file changed should be uploaded to the reporting services server.   • Error when calling Render method on reporting services 2008

    Hi, I've moved my web application to a new server, when it calls the render method on the reporting services 2008 web service it brings back the error "Client found response content type of '', but expected 'text/xml'. The request failed with an empty response". It works fine on my development machine. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Many thanks, Chris.

    I have an ASP.NET application that runs under Classic .NET AppPool. I'm trying to render a report hosted in Reporting Services in another machine, with the correct address and everything. But I keep getting the following error, which I just can't solve: Cannot create a connection to data source 'MYDATASOURCE'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection) --- Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportServerException: Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\IUSR'. I won't post any code, I'm simply calling the .Render() method through Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms. Could it be a configuration or some special permission I have to grant to my code? Any Help?

  • What is the best way to archive data in a relational database?

    I have a bit of an issue with a particular aspect of a program I'm working on. I need the ability to archive (fix) a table so that a change anywhere in the system will not affect the results it returns. This is the basic structure of what I need to fix: Recipe --> Recipe (as sub recipe) Recipe --> Ingredients So, if I fix a Recipe, I need to ensure all the sub recipes (including all the sub recipes sub recipes and so forth) are fixed and all its ingredients are fixed. The problem is that the sub recipe and ingredients still need to be modifiable as they are used by other recipes that are not fixed. I came up with a solution whereby I serialize (with protobuf-net) a master object that deals with the recipe and all the sub recipes and ingredients and save the archive data to a table like follows: Archive{ ReferenceId, (i.e. RecipeId) ReferenceTypeId, (i.e. Recipe) ArchiveData varbinary(max) } Now, this works great and is almost perfect... however I totally forgot (I'd love to blame the agile development mentally, however this was just short sighted) that this information needs to be reported on. As far as I'm aware I can't think how I could inflate the serialized data back into my Recipe Object and use it in a Report. I'm using the standard SQL 2005 report services at the moment. Alternatively, I guess I could do the following: Duplicate every table and tag the word "Archive" on the end of the table name. This would then give me an area of specific archive data... but ignoring my simplified example, there'd actually be about 15 tables duplicated. Add a nullable, non-foreign key property called "CopiedFromId" to every table that contains fixed data and duplicate every record that the recipe (and all it's sub recipes and all their sub recipes) touches. Create some sort of denormalised structure that could be restored from at a later date to the original, unfixed recipe. Although I think this would be like option 1 and involve a lot of extra tables. Anyway, I'm at a total loss and do not like any of the ideas particularly. Can anyone please advise the best course of action? EDIT: Or 4) Create tables specific to what the report requires and populate them with the data when the user clicks the report button? This would cause about 4 extra tables for the report in question.

    I am using SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services and set mode remotely. All is going fine and reports running on my machine. I am not using report viewer control, but switch to browser. Problem is that when I access the report from any other system in browser by providing required url. I m getting the following premission error: Server Error in /ReportServer Application. Access is denied: Description: An error is occured while accessing the resources required to serve for this request. You might have not premission to view the requested resources. Error message: 401.3 : You dont have the premission to view this directory or page using the creditinals you supplied. I have go through all step of this article "http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms365170.aspx" and set remotly premession but after all changes no success and getting same error.   • Report Builder Error (Input string was not in a correct format) when filtering data

    Issue: the user is getting an error “The requested list could not be retrieved because the query is not valid or a connection could not be made to the data source.” while trying to filter a reporting using Report Builder 2.0. When you expand the details the message is “Input string was not in a correct format” I verified that when the user clicks to see the filter values the query is being sent to the underlying database (by using profiler). When I build the same report [I'm a server admin] I have no issues and see all the filtered values, which leads me to believe this is a permissions issue.   • ReportServer 2005 Custom Assembly Error

    We have a reportserver on sql server 2005, it has previously been working on computer X which we are replacing with a computer Y. Computer X only had one default sql instance as our test environment, machine Y is a new machine with 2 sql instances, Y\TEST and Y\DEV. Both machines run Windows Server 2003 and Both have Sql Server 2005 installed together with Report Server We have not currently done any work on the DEV instance, just on the TEST instance. The reportserver is installed for TEST. SSRS previously worked as intended on X machine, and on Y\TEST its working for reports not using any custom code. However for some of the reports we are loading a custom assembly Localization. This assembly currently exists in following folders on server: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\PublicAssemblies C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin Also in rssrvpolicy.config, the entry for Report_Expressions_Default_Permissions has been changed from Execution to FullTrust (Although this was not necessary on the machine X). When attempting to upload the rdl files through the web interface, we get the following errors: Error while loading code module: ‘Localization, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=e302ddd55ecd694a’. Details: Could not load file or assembly 'Localization, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=e302ddd55ecd694a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. (rsErrorLoadingCodeModule) Get Online Help There is an error on line 14 of custom code: [BC30451] Name 'Localization' is not declared. (rsCompilerErrorInCode) Get Online Help Does anyone know any other places with potential errors?

  • Setting up Windows Authentication In Reporting Services Using Kerberos

    Hi, I have yet another problem with Reporting services. Finally I was able to set the ball rolling, achieving success in configuring reporting services with a domain user account. Now I have a problem accessing the server from another machine (in the same domain) using Integrated Windows Authentication in IIS 6.0. I have never had problems with this on networks using NT Authentication, but this is the first time our network is set up to use Kerberos. Here are my IIS settings - Reports (Manager) & ReportServer Virtual directories under Default Website, Both these are configured to run with Integrated Windows Authentication..Anonymous access turned OFF. Reporting Services Windows Service runs under Network service account and Web Service under a domain user account. Note - If I turn on Basic Authentication, it works fine, exceeding all my expectations, but this is not something I want. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Vineet

  • Can't add domain users to Reporting Services 2008

    I have SSRS 2008 setup on the database server. The server is part of the domain. Reporting Services is running under NetworkService. When I try to add a domain user using the web interface (Site Settings -- Security -- New Role Assignment), the page posts back but the user is not in the list.   • Reporting Services - can't group by a column called "LanguageId"

    Folks, I have a really odd behavior here: I have a SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services report which gets grouped and sorted dynamically. One of the column in my data set which I display is called LanguageId and I was trying to get a grouping going by this LanguageId field. I checked, double-checked and triple-checked the data being returned - it does contain my expected values for LanguageId and everything seems fine and dandy. It just never worked - I didn't get the expected groups, I got things like a specific node actually changing its display value from one ID to another when expanding its subitems, and other really whacky stuff. I discovered that grouping and sorting by LanguageCaption works just fine. It also started working fine after I renamed LanguageId to MyLanguageId. So where on earth is this documented that LanguageId appears to be a system variable / reserved word / keyword of some sort in SQL Server Reporting Services that must be avoided at all costs?? I can't seem to find anything on that topic - even Mr. Google and Mrs. Bing came up empty so far....

  • SSRS and hiding other selections once a parameter is selected

    I am learning SSRS so this is probably an extremely easy solution. I have a bunch of reports that were rebuilt to match some old Access reports. For each report, we have to be able to run Current, Last, Next or Adhoc dates. Is there an easy way if a user selects Adhoc to then show the parameters selections for Start and End Date for the Adhoc selection? Right now, I have people who select Current and then go and put in dates.   • Issues with format in reporting services

    In a report a have a cell that contains a System.Decimal type value. I am using the cells format property to format the value to "D2". This works in VS but not when I run the report on the report server or in my application. If I switch the format string to "0.00" then it works. The confusing part is that it seems that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Does anyone have any viable explaination for this? I'm not particularly confortable with saying "sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't"! Is this something that might happen when you have a report written in VS2005 but is running using sql server 2008. I ask because I noticed that when we run the report in our application which is using sql server 2005 it works fine but when we run it against the application where the report is VS2005 and the sql server is 2008 that is where the issue occurs.   • Returning data from SQL Server reporting web service call

    Hi, I am generating a report that contains the version number. The version number is stored in the DB and retrieved/incremented as part of the report generation. The only problem is, I am calling SSRS via a web service call, which returns the generated report as a byte array. Is there any way to get the version number out of this generated report? For example to display a dialog that says "You generated Status Report, Version number 3". I tried passing in an output parameter and setting it inside the storedproc. Its modified when i execute it in sql management studio, but not in the reporting studio. Or atleast i can't seem to bind to the modified, post execution value (using expression "=Parameters!ReportVersion.Value"). Of course, I could get/increment the version number from database myself before calling the SSRS webservice and pass it along as a parameter to the Report, but that might cause concurrancy problems. On the whole, it just seems neater for the storedproc to access/generate a version number and return it to the ReportingEngine, which will generate the report with the version number and return the updated version number to the WebService client. Any thoughts/Ideas?

  • How do I set a SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services Template to a Default Font?

    I'm creating a new template to create reports from at a later date. I know how to create one, and I know where to save it. However, the problem is this. Everything that is created on the report uses the default font of Arial with a size of 10pt. I need to set mine to default to Tahoma 11pt. I can create a mock title, mock tables, etc and save those to Tahoma 11pt, but any new controls that are used on any version of this report will default back to Arial 10pt. How do I fix this?

    I am trying to generate a report using SSRS 2008. During report processing i am facing an error which states.."An error has occured during report processing .Query execution failed for dataset (datasetno).A severe error occured opn the current command.The results if any,should be discarded.Operation cancelled by user ". The datasetname for which query execution is failing is changing randomly.When I am executing those dataset queries seperately it was not throwing any errors.Sometimes I am getting my report without any failure.     Hi All, I have a dataset which I want to use as a parameter for my chart in SSRS. The puzzle that I am trying to solve is as below. My DataSet has 4 columns and in the Dropdown parameter I can only specify label and value. I am not able to specify two columns as Label and two columns as value. Does anyone know how to concat the values in the dropdown? I don't want to concat these values in my sql query generating the dataset.

  • Reporting Services Linear Gauge Scale

    I have set up a linear gauge in Reporting Services 2008. What I would like to do is specify my scale interval. The only problem with this is the scale intervals I would like to use are not at constant intervals. For example, say the scale min is $0 and the scale max is $10 000. Depending on the chart I may want an interval marker labelled at $2000, $5000, then $7945. These numbers would be calculated based on percentages of scale max specified in the dataset. I have not been able to figure out how I would go about doing this.
