  • EMC/Legato/Networker Failed to recover files : Cross Platform Recovery not supported.

    - by marc.riera
Software used to backup: EMC / Legato Networker legato server : windows legato clients: same hardware (2 years ago fedora something , now ubuntu ) Trying to recover from an old client, which is no longer available. So this is the thing. On 07/20/2008 we backed up a samba server(fedora something) to a tape , setting 1 year as browse policy and retention policy. Now this tape is recyclable. We took down the dns name. We deleted the legato client configuration. That legato client was reinstalled and is doing other stuff on ubuntu 10.04, with a different name but same ip. Now, 2 years and some month later #### Now we need to recover a folder from 2008 backup, on the fedora-samba-server. First thing, legato does not show the client name because the config was deleted. We create it again. We just set the old dns back on track, pointing the same ip, where the old server was, same MAC address ;). We created a new 'old client configuration' pointing to the new server. (different legato ip for client "I suppose" ) The ssid where the needed folder is on 2 tapes, 20 and 22. The index for that backup is on tape 21. We put this tapes on the jukebox (IBMT4000) -- not important for the issue -- All three tapes expired its browsable and recoverable time. So they are on recyclable. We get the clone id from the ssid with following command: mminfo -avot -q "ssid=<ssid>" -r cloneid We set the tapes to notrecyclable nsrmm -S <ssid>/<cloneid> -o notrecyclable We change the retention for the tapes for a future date nsrmm -S <ssid> -e 01/20/2011 We check the dates are correct : mminf -avV -q "ssid=<ssid>" -r ssbrowse(26),ssretent(26),savetime So far its OK. We close the terminal. Restart the server, just for being sure. Finally, we recover the index for that ssid where the folder should be. nsrck -L7 -t "07/20/2008" oldservername.domain.org There, we open the Networker User, select the server, select the old client as source, select the new client as destination. And this is what I get. imgur image of output -- http://i.imgur.com/1nOr8.png Should I understand that I need to install whatsoever operating system that was running on the old "linux server"/"networker client" to be able to restore 26Mb of files? thanks

  • Auth-Type :- Reject in RADIUS users file matches inner tunnel request but sends Access-Accept

    - by mgorven
I have WPA2 802.11x EAP authentication setup using FreeRADIUS 2.1.8 on Ubuntu 10.04.4 talking to OpenLDAP, and can successfully authenticate using PEAP/MSCHAPv2, TTLS/MSCHAPv2 and TTLS/PAP (both via the AP and using eapol_test). I am now trying to restrict access to specific SSIDs based on the LDAP groups which the user belongs to. I have configured group membership checking in /etc/freeradius/modules/ldap like so: groupname_attribute = cn groupmembership_filter = "(|(&(objectClass=posixGroup)(memberUid=%{User-Name}))(&(objectClass=posixGroup)(uniquemember=%{User-Name})))" and I have configured extraction of the SSID from Called-Station-Id into Called-Station-SSID based on the Mac Auth wiki page. In /etc/freeradius/eap.conf I have enabled copying attributes from the outer tunnel into the inner tunnel, and usage of the inner tunnel response in the outer tunnel (for both PEAP and TTLS). I had the same behaviour before changing these options however. copy_request_to_tunnel = yes use_tunneled_reply = yes I'm running eapol_test like this to test the setup: eapol_test -c peap-mschapv2.conf -a 172.16.0.16 -s testing123 -N 30:s:01-23-45-67-89-01:Example-EAP with the following peap-mschapv2.conf file: network={ ssid="Example-EAP" key_mgmt=WPA-EAP eap=PEAP identity="mgorven" anonymous_identity="anonymous" password="foobar" phase2="autheap=MSCHAPV2" } With the following in /etc/freeradius/users: DEFAULT Ldap-Group == "employees" and running freeradius-Xx, I can see that the LDAP group retrieval works, and that the SSID is extracted. Debug: [ldap] performing search in dc=example,dc=com, with filter (&(cn=employees)(|(&(objectClass=posixGroup)(memberUid=mgorven))(&(objectClass=posixGroup)(uniquemember=mgorven)))) Debug: rlm_ldap::ldap_groupcmp: User found in group employees ... Info: expand: %{7} -> Example-EAP Next I try to only allow access to users in the employees group (regardless of SSID), so I put the following in /etc/freeradius/users: DEFAULT Ldap-Group == "employees" DEFAULT Auth-Type := Reject But this immediately rejects the Access-Request in the outer tunnel because the anonymous user is not in the employees group. So I modify it to only match inner tunnel requests like so: DEFAULT Ldap-Group == "employees" DEFAULT FreeRADIUS-Proxied-To == "127.0.0.1" Auth-Type := Reject, Reply-Message = "User does not belong to any groups which may access this SSID." Now users which are in the employees group are authenticated, but so are users which are not in the employees group. I see the reject entry being matched, and the Reply-Message is set, but the client receives an Access-Accept. Debug: rlm_ldap::ldap_groupcmp: Group employees not found or user is not a member. Info: [files] users: Matched entry DEFAULT at line 209 Info: ++[files] returns ok ... Auth: Login OK: [mgorven] (from client test port 0 cli 02-00-00-00-00-01 via TLS tunnel) Info: WARNING: Empty section. Using default return values. ... Info: [peap] Got tunneled reply code 2 Auth-Type := Reject Reply-Message = "User does not belong to any groups which may access this SSID." ... Info: [peap] Got tunneled reply RADIUS code 2 Auth-Type := Reject Reply-Message = "User does not belong to any groups which may access this SSID." ... Info: [peap] Tunneled authentication was successful. Info: [peap] SUCCESS Info: [peap] Saving tunneled attributes for later ... Sending Access-Accept of id 11 to 172.16.2.44 port 60746 Reply-Message = "User does not belong to any groups which may access this SSID." User-Name = "mgorven" and eapol_test reports: RADIUS message: code=2 (Access-Accept) identifier=11 length=233 Attribute 18 (Reply-Message) length=64 Value: 'User does not belong to any groups which may access this SSID.' • Convert Console Output to Array

Using netsh wlan show networks mode=bssid on Windows CMD yields a listing of available wireless networks. • How can I use curl to login multiple users from one php script

    - by kamal
    Here is the scenario: I have configured multiple users with login names aa1, aa2 .. zz99 , all with the same password, now i want to login to a php based server with these login ID's. I have a working script that logs in one user with a username and password, and using curl, browses to a target page: // Assume php , since somehow the php encapsulation quotes were giving me trouble $sHost = $argv[2]; $sStart = $argv[3]; $sReqId = $argv[4]; $sPage = $argv[5]; $sReqLogFile = $argv[6]; $sRespLogFile = $argv[7]; $sUserName = $argv[8]; $sPassword = $argv[9]; $sExecDelay = $argv[10]; //optional args: if($argc 11) { $sCommonSID = $argv[11]; } //$sXhprofLogFile = ""; $sSysStatsLogFile= ""; $sBaseUrl = 'https://'.$sHost.'/'; $nExecTime = 0; $sCookieFileName = 'cookiejar/'.genRandomString().'.txt'; touch($sCookieFileName); // Set the execution delay: $sStart += $sExecDelay; // Get the PHP Session Id: if(isset($sCommonSID)) { $sSID = $sCommonSID; }else{ $sSID = getSID($sHost,$sBaseUrl, $sUserName, $sPassword); } // Sleep for 100us intervals until we reach the stated execution time: do { usleep(100); }while(getFullMicrotime()$sPage, "pageUrl"=$sBaseUrl, "execStart" =$nExecStart, "execEnd"=$nExecEnd, "respTime"=$nExecTime, "xhprofToken"=$sXhpToken, "xhprofLink"=$sXhpLink, "fiveMinLoad"=$nFiveMinLoad); }else{ $nExecStart = 0; $sUrl = "***ERROR***"; $aReturn = null; } writeReqLog($sReqId, $nExecStart, $sSID, $sUrl, $sReqLogFile); return $aReturn; } function getFullMicrotime() { $fMtime = microtime(true); if(strpos($fMtime, ' ') !== false) { list($nUsec, $nSec) = explode(' ', $fMtime); return $nSec + $nUsec; } return $fMtime; } function writeRespLog($nReqId, $sHost, $sPage, $sSID = "***ERROR***", $nExecStart = 0, $nExecEnd = 0, $nRespTime = 0, $sXhpToken = "", $sXhpLink = "", $nFiveMinLoad = 0, $sRespLogFile) { $sMsg = $nReqId; $sMsg .= "\t".$sHost; $sMsg .= "/".$sPage; $sMsg .= "\t".$sSID; $sMsg .= "\t".$nExecStart; $sMsg .= "\t".$nExecEnd; $sMsg .= "\t".$nRespTime; $sMsg .= "\t".$sXhpToken; $sMsg .= "\t".$nFiveMinLoad; error_log($sMsg."\n",3,$sRespLogFile); } function writeReqLog($nReqId, $nExecStart, $sSID, $sUrl, $sReqLogFile) { $sMsg = $nReqId; $sMsg .= "\t".$sUrl; $sMsg .= "\t".$sSID; $sMsg .= "\t".$nExecStart; error_log($sMsg."\n",3,$sReqLogFile); } function parseSIDValue($sText) { $sSID = ""; preg_match('/SID:(.*)/',$sText, $aSID); if (count($aSID)) { $sSID = $aSID[1]; } return $sSID; } function parseFiveMinLoad($sText) { $nLoad = 0; $aMatch = array(); preg_match('/--5-MIN-LOAD:(.*)--/',$sText, $aMatch); if (count($aMatch)) { $nLoad = $aMatch[1]; } return $nLoad; } function curlRequest($sUrl, $sSID="") { global $sCookieFileName; $ch = curl_init(); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $sUrl); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, FALSE); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST, 2); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 1); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_USERAGENT, "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0)"); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER,1); if($sSID == "") { curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_COOKIEJAR, $sCookieFileName); } else { curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_COOKIEFILE, $sCookieFileName); } $result =curl_exec ($ch); curl_close ($ch); return $result; } function parseXHProfToken($sPageContent) { //https://ktest.server.net/xhprof/xhprof_html/index.php?run=4d004b280a990&source=mybox $sToken = ""; $sRelLink = ""; $aMatch = array(); $aResp = array(); preg_match('/$sToken, "relLink"=$sRelLink); return $aResp; } function genRandomString() { $length = 10; $characters = '0123456789abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz'; $string = ''; for ($p = 0; $p

  • Could not connect to wireless unitl reboot (nl80211)

    - by user107410
    I'm using Samsung NP900X3C. I have problem with occasionally connecting to WIFI, with Ubuntu 12.10. Sometimes my computer could not connect to WIFI "blab", neither after reboot computer. Only solution is to restart WIFI hotspot. It's public WIFI, used by many users, that don't have that problem. My /var/log/syslog: Nov 12 10:09:39 k15 wpa_supplicant[1308]: wlan0: SME: Trying to authenticate with 64:70:02:89:7c:d7 (SSID='blab' freq=2427 MHz) Nov 12 10:09:39 k15 kernel: [ 8.908610] wlan0: authenticate with 64:70:02:89:7c:d7 Nov 12 10:09:39 k15 NetworkManager[1004]: <info> (wlan0): supplicant interface state: scanning -> authenticating Nov 12 10:09:39 k15 kernel: [ 8.915032] wlan0: send auth to 64:70:02:89:7c:d7 (try 1/3) Nov 12 10:09:39 k15 wpa_supplicant[1308]: wlan0: Trying to associate with 64:70:02:89:7c:d7 (SSID='blab' freq=2427 MHz) Nov 12 10:09:39 k15 kernel: [ 8.916753] wlan0: authenticated Nov 12 10:09:39 k15 kernel: [ 8.916839] wlan0: waiting for beacon from 64:70:02:89:7c:d7 Nov 12 10:09:39 k15 NetworkManager[1004]: <info> (wlan0): supplicant interface state: authenticating -> associating Nov 12 10:09:39 k15 NetworkManager[1004]: <info> (wlan0): supplicant interface state: associating -> disconnected Nov 12 10:09:39 k15 NetworkManager[1004]: <info> (wlan0): supplicant interface state: disconnected -> scanning Nov 12 10:09:42 k15 wpa_supplicant[1308]: wlan0: SME: Trying to authenticate with 64:70:02:89:7c:d7 (SSID='blab' freq=2427 MHz) Nov 12 10:09:42 k15 kernel: [ 12.386212] wlan0: authenticate with 64:70:02:89:7c:d7 Nov 12 10:09:42 k15 wpa_supplicant[1308]: wlan0: Trying to associate with 64:70:02:89:7c:d7 (SSID='blab' freq=2427 MHz) Nov 12 10:09:42 k15 kernel: [ 12.389114] wlan0: send auth to 64:70:02:89:7c:d7 (try 1/3) Nov 12 10:09:42 k15 kernel: [ 12.391021] wlan0: authenticated Nov 12 10:09:42 k15 NetworkManager[1004]: <info> (wlan0): supplicant interface state: scanning -> authenticating Nov 12 10:09:42 k15 kernel: [ 12.391332] wlan0: waiting for beacon from 64:70:02:89:7c:d7 Nov 12 10:09:42 k15 NetworkManager[1004]: <info> (wlan0): supplicant interface state: authenticating -> associating Nov 12 10:09:43 k15 NetworkManager[1004]: <info> (wlan0): supplicant interface state: associating -> disconnected Nov 12 10:09:43 k15 NetworkManager[1004]: <info> (wlan0): supplicant interface state: disconnected -> scanning Nov 12 10:09:46 k15 wpa_supplicant[1308]: wlan0: SME: Trying to authenticate with 64:70:02:89:7c:d7 (SSID='blab' freq=2427 MHz) and after restart WiFi, I could connect: Nov 12 10:11:51 k15 NetworkManager[1004]: <info> (wlan0): supplicant interface state: inactive -> scanning Nov 12 10:11:55 k15 wpa_supplicant[1308]: wlan0: SME: Trying to authenticate with 64:70:02:89:7c:d7 (SSID='blab' freq=2427 MHz) Nov 12 10:11:55 k15 kernel: [ 144.445154] wlan0: authenticate with 64:70:02:89:7c:d7 Nov 12 10:11:55 k15 kernel: [ 144.453994] wlan0: send auth to 64:70:02:89:7c:d7 (try 1/3) Nov 12 10:11:55 k15 wpa_supplicant[1308]: wlan0: Trying to associate with 64:70:02:89:7c:d7 (SSID='blab' freq=2427 MHz) Nov 12 10:11:55 k15 NetworkManager[1004]: <info> (wlan0): supplicant interface state: scanning -> authenticating Nov 12 10:11:55 k15 kernel: [ 144.455860] wlan0: authenticated Nov 12 10:11:55 k15 kernel: [ 144.458681] wlan0: associate with 64:70:02:89:7c:d7 (try 1/3) Nov 12 10:11:55 k15 NetworkManager[1004]: <info> (wlan0): supplicant interface state: authenticating -> associating Nov 12 10:11:55 k15 kernel: [ 144.462799] wlan0: RX AssocResp from 64:70:02:89:7c:d7 (capab=0x431 status=0 aid=9) Nov 12 10:11:55 k15 kernel: [ 144.486368] wlan0: associated Nov 12 10:11:55 k15 wpa_supplicant[1308]: wlan0: Associated with 64:70:02:89:7c:d7 Nov 12 10:11:55 k15 kernel: [ 144.487435] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): wlan0: link becomes ready Nov 12 10:11:55 k15 NetworkManager[1004]: <info> (wlan0): supplicant interface state: associating -> associated Nov 12 10:11:55 k15 NetworkManager[1004]: <info> (wlan0): supplicant interface state: associated -> 4-way handshake This problem is appearing regulary.   • How do I get my code to read the spaces between longs?

    - by WahtsUpWorld
I apologize for any inconvenience that may occur in answering my question, I'm fairly new to programming and I'm so far only in the last weeks of my community college Java I class. The problem I am facing is in my code of which I cannot seem to get the PrintWriter to address the spaces in between my longs' phone number and social security I.D. The entire code consists of two classes in which one pulls from the other the information needed to parse and present the file writer/print writer. Here is the entire code w/ the second class after it: public class FinalProjectGroup1 { public static void main(String[] args) { } public String name; public long ssid; public double pay; public String address; • Overriding equals method without breaking symmetry in a class that has a primary key

    - by Kosta
Hi, the answer to this question is probably "not possible", but let me ask regardless :) Assuming we have a very simple JAVA class that has a primary key, for example: class Person { String ssid; String name; String address; ... } Now, I want to store people in a collection, meaning I will have to override the equals method. Not a completely trivial matter, but on a bare basis I will have something along the lines of: @Override public boolean equals (Object other) { if(other==this) return true; if(!other.getClass().equals(this.getClass()) return false; Person otherPerson = (Person)other; if(this.ssid.equals(otherPerson.getSsid()) return true; } Excuse any obvious blunders, just typing this out of my head. Now, let's say later on in the application I have a ssid I obtained through user input. If I want to compare my ssid to a Person, I would have to call something like: String mySsid = getFromSomewhere(); Person myPerson = getFromSomewhere(); if(myPerson.equals(new Person(mySsid)) doSomething(); This means I have to create a convenience constructor to create a Person based on ssid (if I don't already have one), and it's also quite verbose. It would be much nicer to simply call myPerson.equals(mySsid) but if I added a string comparison to my Person equals class, that would break the symmetry property, since the String hasn't got a clue on how to compare itself to a Person. So finally, the big question, is there any way to enable this sort of "shorthand" comparisons using the overriden equals method, and without breaking the symmetry rule? Thanks for any thoughts on this!

  • Ubuntu 12.04 suddenly cannot connect to WPA2/WPA Personal protected connection. Windows 7 can

    - by d4ryl3
I have a laptop with Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04. I have a Cisco E1200 and when I set it up, it created 2 SSIDs. Let's name them: MyConnection (WPA/WPA2 personal), and MyConnection-Guest (no authentication, guest password entered via web browser). I had no problem connecting to MyConnection before, either in Windows 7 and Ubuntu. But now, I can't access MyConnection on Ubuntu. It just says "connecting..." then disconnects after a while. But I'm able to access the internet (on Ubuntu) when I connect to MyConnection-Guest. MAC filtering is off (even if it's on its MAC address is in the white list). Any idea why I'm unable to connect to MyConnection in Ubuntu? Thanks. Update: My Ubuntu installation can connect to ANY WiFi connection (WPA/WEP/no auth), except for MyConnection. • XP/Intel wirelss only showing 'hpsetup' ad-hoc network that isn't there

    - by ewall
Trying to help my friend with her work XP laptop, which recently stopped seeing any wireless SSIDs except the SSID 'hpsetup' (presumably from a wireless-enabled HP printer). Relevant information: The laptop is a Lenovo T500 (Centrino 2 chipset) with XP SP3. The network adapter is Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN (built-in). The latest version (13.5) of the Intel drivers only are installed, not the Intel config software, so XP is using the Wireless Zero-Config manager. The wireless router is a NetGear WGR614 v7 with 802.11b/g. The SSID is broadcasting, and all the other laptops in the house can see and connect to it. On the laptop, I have tried repairing the network connection, disabling power management, turning off 802.11a & n radio, and more... but it didn't help. Some of the wireless settings are managed by Group Policy from her office (I get the "At least one of your changes was not applied successfully to your wireless configuration" message). It is enforced to connect to "Access point (infrastructure) networks only". The real kicker is that my laptop does not an SSID named 'hpsetup' here, but it can see several broadcasted SSIDs including the one we want, while my friend's laptop doesn't see any SSID except 'hpsetup'. Any suggestions?

  • Error: "failed to connect to wpa_supplicant - wpa_ctrl_open no such file or directory" using netcfg with wpa_supplicant

    - by user1576628
I'm trying to set up netcfg so that I can finish installing Arch Linux (using the instructions from the Beginners' Guide and netcfg) and I passed over what was meant to be a short step. Open wifi-menu, select network, enter password. After multiple attempts, I decided to edit the profile manually, which yielded no improvement. Eventually I decided to use netfcg with the more familiar wpa_supplicant. My /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf file is as follows: network={ ssid="my_ssid" #psk="my_wireless_passcode" psk="my_wireless_passcode_hex" } (Replacing generic names with my actual ssid and psk.) And my /etc/network.d/wpa_suppl file reads: CONNECTION='wireless' DESCRIPTION='A wpa_supplicant configuration based wireless connection' INTERFACE='wlan0' SECURITY='wpa-config' WPA_CONF='/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf' IP='dhcp' My ssid is not hidden, wlan0 is the proper interface, and wpa_supplicant works fine on its own, but using netcfg wpa_suppl, it returns failed to connect to wpa_supplicant - wpa_ctrl_open no such file or directory about twelve times before finally telling me the authentication failed. What can I do to fix this?

  • TP-Link TL-WA701N not working good as wireless extender

    - by djechelon
I bought the device in subject to extend the range of my WPA2/PSK-protected wifi network powered by a TP-Link TL-WR340G device (AP+router). I configured it as follows: Operation mode: Universal Repeater MAC of AP: scanned my SSID and got it Channel width: 20MHz Security options: the same as the parent AP (WPA2/PSK with AES encryption) After configuration inSSIDer shows me two APs beaconing the same SSID at different SNRs (because I was with my laptop close to the extender). After a few hours my tablet, far from the parent AP, stopped working. I found that the scan reported two networks with the same SSID: one WPA-protected and one free at all. This happened very frequently. Rebooting the extender by unplugging it worked but this doesn't last long. Sometimes the extender stops transmitting at all, sometimes it beacons an open network to which nobody can connect (because there is no DHCP). What's wrong with my configuration?

  • Programmatically get the WLAN config of a machine and use netsh to setup new profile

    - by Maestro1024
How can I programmatically get the wireless LAN configuration of a machine and use netsh to setup new profile? I am having trouble getting the netsh command to set the ssid of a new card. I installed the drivers and plugged it in. I see in ipconfig it says the "media is disconnected" (fair enough). I then send the following command netsh wlan connect name=profile1 ssid=myNetwork interface="Wireless Network Connection 2" problem is I get an error "There is no profile "profile1" assigned to the specified interface. What is a profile for a wireless card? What should I set it to? How can I get my SSID set and connected for the card?

  • Wireless will not connect

    - by azz0r
Hello, I have installed Ubuntu 10.10 on the same machine as my windows setup. However, it will not connect to my wireless network. It can see its there, it can attempt to connect, yet it will never connect. It will keep bringing up the password prompt everyso often. I have tried turning my security to WEP, I ended up turning it back to WPA2. It is set to AES (noted a few threads on google about that). Can you assist? I would love to dive into Ubuntu, but without the internet its pointless. --- lshw -C network --- *-network description: Ethernet interface product: RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller vendor: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. physical id: 0 bus info: pci@0000:02:00.0 logical name: eth0 version: 02 serial: 00:1d:92:ea:cc:62 capacity: 1GB/s width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm msi pciexpress msix vpd bus_master cap_list rom ethernet physical tp 10bt 10bt-fd 100bt 100bt-fd 1000bt-fd autonegotiation configuration: autonegotiation=on broadcast=yes driver=r8168 driverversion=8.020.00-NAPI duplex=half latency=0 link=no multicast=yes port=twisted pair resources: irq:29 ioport:e800(size=256) memory:feaff000-feafffff memory:f8ff0000-f8ffffff(prefetchable) memory:feac0000-feadffff(prefetchable) *-network description: Wireless interface physical id: 1 logical name: wlan0 serial: 00:15:af:72:a4:38 capabilities: ethernet physical wireless configuration: broadcast=yes multicast=yes wireless=IEEE 802.11bgn --- iwconfig ---- lo no wireless extensions. eth0 no wireless extensions. wlan0 IEEE 802.11bgn ESSID:"Wuggawoo" Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated Tx-Power=9 dBm Retry long limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off Encryption key:off Power Management:on --- cat /etc/network/interfaces ---- auto lo iface lo inet loopback logs deamon.log --- Jan 19 04:17:09 ubuntu wpa_supplicant[1289]: Authentication with 94:44:52:0d:22:0d timed out. I'm on a laptop running Debian Jessie with kernel 3.13-1-amd64; lspci shows that my wireless NIC + driver is 04:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless 3160 (rev 83) Subsystem: Intel Corporation Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 Kernel driver in use: iwlwifi This has been working without any problems, until I tried creating a bridge for lxc containers to use. I did the same thing as this person here: How-to set up a network bridge on a laptop for LXC use? -- and ended up having the same problem as this poster did, so I decided to "undo" my actions. This hasn't been successful. Actions taken so far: To configure the bridge: #> ip link add type veth #> iw dev wlan0 set 4addr on #> ifconfig veth0 up #> brctl addbr br0 #> brctl addif br0 wlan0 #> brctl addif br0 veth0 #> ifconfig br0 192.168.0.4/24 #> ifconfig wlan0 0.0.0.0 To "deconfigure": #> brctl delif br0 wlan0 #> brctl delif br0 veth0 #> iw dev wlan0 set 4addr off #> ifconfig veth0 down #> ifconfig wlan0 down #> ifconfig br0 down #> brctl delbr br0 Now, dmesg and /var/log/syslog show repeated attempts at connecting to the AP that was working before, which fail after authentication: May 27 09:16:01 myhostname kernel: [11350.757172] wlan0: authenticate with 00:18:f8:54:a3:d6 May 27 09:16:01 myhostname kernel: [11350.759036] wlan0: send auth to 00:18:f8:54:a3:d6 (try 1/3) May 27 09:16:01 myhostname NetworkManager[13992]: <info> (wlan0): supplicant interface state: scanning -> authenticating May 27 09:16:01 myhostname wpa_supplicant[8946]: wlan0: Trying to associate with 00:18:f8:54:a3:d6 (SSID='myaccesspoint' freq=2437 MHz) May 27 09:16:01 myhostname kernel: [11350.762615] wlan0: authenticated May 27 09:16:01 myhostname kernel: [11350.762753] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0 wlan0: disabling HT as WMM/QoS is not supported by the AP May 27 09:16:01 myhostname kernel: [11350.762755] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0 wlan0: disabling VHT as WMM/QoS is not supported by the AP May 27 09:16:01 myhostname kernel: [11350.765080] wlan0: associate with 00:18:f8:54:a3:d6 (try 1/3) May 27 09:16:01 myhostname NetworkManager[13992]: <info> (wlan0): supplicant interface state: authenticating -> associating May 27 09:16:01 myhostname kernel: [11350.767474] wlan0: RX AssocResp from 00:18:f8:54:a3:d6 (capab=0x411 status=12 aid=0) May 27 09:16:01 myhostname kernel: [11350.767476] wlan0: 00:18:f8:54:a3:d6 denied association (code=12) May 27 09:16:01 myhostname wpa_supplicant[8946]: wlan0: CTRL-EVENT-ASSOC-REJECT bssid=00:18:f8:54:a3:d6 status_code=12 May 27 09:16:01 myhostname kernel: [11350.788475] wlan0: deauthenticating from 00:18:f8:54:a3:d6 by local choice (reason=3) May 27 09:16:01 myhostname NetworkManager[13992]: <info> (wlan0): supplicant interface state: associating -> disconnected May 27 09:16:01 myhostname NetworkManager[13992]: <info> (wlan0): supplicant interface state: disconnected -> scanning May 27 09:16:02 myhostname dhclient: DHCPDISCOVER on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 14 May 27 09:16:04 myhostname wpa_supplicant[8946]: wlan0: SME: Trying to authenticate with 00:18:f8:54:a3:d6 (SSID='myaccesspoint' freq=2437 MHz) May 27 09:16:04 myhostname kernel: [11354.559579] wlan0: authenticate with 00:18:f8:54:a3:d6 May 27 09:16:04 myhostname kernel: [11354.561458] wlan0: send auth to 00:18:f8:54:a3:d6 (try 1/3) May 27 09:16:04 myhostname wpa_supplicant[8946]: wlan0: Trying to associate with 00:18:f8:54:a3:d6 (SSID='myaccesspoint' freq=2437 MHz) May 27 09:16:04 myhostname NetworkManager[13992]: <info> (wlan0): supplicant interface state: scanning -> associating May 27 09:16:04 myhostname kernel: [11354.563445] wlan0: authenticated May 27 09:16:04 myhostname kernel: [11354.563631] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0 wlan0: disabling HT as WMM/QoS is not supported by the AP May 27 09:16:04 myhostname kernel: [11354.563633] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0 wlan0: disabling VHT as WMM/QoS is not supported by the AP May 27 09:16:04 myhostname kernel: [11354.565727] wlan0: associate with 00:18:f8:54:a3:d6 (try 1/3) May 27 09:16:04 myhostname wpa_supplicant[8946]: wlan0: Associated with 00:18:f8:54:a3:d6 May 27 09:16:04 myhostname kernel: [11354.568091] wlan0: RX AssocResp from 00:18:f8:54:a3:d6 (capab=0x411 status=0 aid=9) May 27 09:16:04 myhostname kernel: [11354.569030] wlan0: associated May 27 09:16:04 myhostname NetworkManager[13992]: <info> (wlan0): supplicant interface state: associating -> associated May 27 09:16:05 myhostname kernel: [11354.978204] wlan0: deauthenticated from 00:18:f8:54:a3:d6 (Reason: 15) May 27 09:16:05 myhostname wpa_supplicant[8946]: wlan0: CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED bssid=00:18:f8:54:a3:d6 reason=15 May 27 09:16:05 myhostname kernel: [11354.992729] cfg80211: Calling CRDA to update world regulatory domain May 27 09:16:05 myhostname kernel: [11354.995004] cfg80211: World regulatory domain updated: May 27 09:16:05 myhostname kernel: [11354.995005] cfg80211: (start_freq - I'm not sure what I did wrong, or what step I've skipped in trying to get wlan0 back as a non-bridged device -- I removed it from the bridge and then deleted the bridge itself. Any ideas?

  • Unable to connect to wireless network

    - by Mike
A real newbie here. Just downloaded Ubuntu 12.10, put on USB stick and have booted it on my other PC after modifying the boot sequence to boot from USB before hard drive where Windows XP lives. Have no problems with Windows and my wireless but not with Ubuntu. The PC is a Dell Latitude D630 laptop. According to Windows XP , the wireless card is a Dell Wireless 1490 Dual Band WLAN Mini-Card, my IP address is 192.168.0.193, subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, assigned by DHCP, SSID is HOME , type 802.11 and default gateway is 192.168.0.1. Ok, back to booting from USB and TRY option, I am Editing Network connections, I have created/configured "Wireless connection 1" with SSID of HOME and the only other thing I have changed is on the "Editing IPV4 routes for Wireless connection 1 I have enterred 192.168.0.193 , netmask 255.255.255.0 and gateway 192.168.0.1 Anyways , no go. Could use some help. Thanks, Mike from Montreal

  • Script to connect to hidden wireless network with static IP?

    - by nLinked
Would like a script, when run, it should connect to a hidden wireless network with these details: SSID is "Wireless" Network is not broadcasting its SSID above (is hidden) WPA2-PSK, AES, password is "password" Static IP: 192.168.1.1 Def. gateway: 192.168.1.254 DNS: 192.168.1.254 No idea how to do this. But I do know the wireless interface is called wlan0 and I'm on Ubuntu 10.10. I don't want to use the built in Network Manager as it never auto-connects on startup. WICD doesn't work either. Any ideas most welcome.

  • ash scripting: space-containing variable refuses to be grepped

    - by Luci Sandor
I am trying to run the script listed at http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=70866&page=2 on its intended hardware, a Nokia Linux phone running BusyBox ash. The script receives the name of WiFi network as a parameter, and tries to connect the phone to it. I suspect the script works, but my SSID, BU (802.1x), has space and parentheses in it. So when I type at the command prompt autoconnect.sh BU\ \(802.1x\) I get various errors. First, LIST=`iwconfig wlan0 | awk -F":" '/ESSID/{print $2}'` if [ $LIST = "\"$1\"" ]; then ...fails, even I am connected to the network. The error is not avoided by using single or double quotes instead of escaping characters at the command prompt. Second, if [ -z `iwlist wlan0 scan | grep -m 1 -o \"$1\"` ]; then echo SSID \"$1\" not found; shows that grep does not find the string, although the same grep, typed directly into the command prompt, does find 'BU (802.1x)'. How do I quote $1 in the two circumstances above so that it will work with my network SSID, containing spaces and parentheses? Thank you.

  • Ruckus wireless AP and Dell PowerConnect configuration problems

    - by DanielJay
We are working on trying to get some Ruckus Access Points to work correctly on our network. Currently our network is as follows: VLAN 10 - Servers VLAN 11 – Computers/DHCP VLAN 12 – Voice VLAN 13 – Guest We use Dell PowerConnect 6248P switches for our switches. Port settings are as follows: ZoneDirector 1100 is plugged into this port. Should be accessing the server VLAN and then allowing all other traffic. interface ethernet 1/g2 classofservice trust ip-dscp description 'Ruckus ZoneDirector 1100' switchport mode general switchport general pvid 10 switchport general allowed vlan add 10 switchport general allowed vlan add 11-13 tagged exit Access point is plugged into this port. The port has to be on VLAN 11 in order to get DHCP. interface ethernet 1/g16 classofservice trust ip-dscp description 'Ruckus - IT' switchport mode general switchport general pvid 11 switchport general allowed vlan add 10-12 switchport general allowed vlan add 13 tagged exit If we tag the traffic from the SSID as VLAN 11 data fails. If we leave the SSID tagged as 1 the data flows correctly. Are there problems with passing tagged traffic to untagged ports? We are looking to see what we can do to get the SSID tagged as 11 instead of 1. Any suggestions?

  • Wireshark WPA 4-way handshake

    - by cYrus
From this wiki page: WPA and WPA2 use keys derived from an EAPOL handshake to encrypt traffic. Unless all four handshake packets are present for the session you're trying to decrypt, Wireshark won't be able to decrypt the traffic. You can use the display filter eapol to locate EAPOL packets in your capture. I've noticed that the decryption works with (1, 2, 4) too, but not with (1, 2, 3). As far as I know the first two packets are enough, at least for what concern unicast traffic. Can someone please explain exactly how does Wireshark deal with that, in other words why does only the former sequence work, given that the fourth packet is just an acknowledgement? Also, is it guaranteed that the (1, 2, 4) will always work when (1, 2, 3, 4) works? Test case This is the gzipped handshake (1, 2, 4) and an ecrypted ARP packet (SSID: SSID, password: password) in base64 encoding: H4sICEarjU8AA2hhbmRzaGFrZS5jYXAAu3J400ImBhYGGPj/n4GhHkhfXNHr37KQgWEqAwQzMAgx 6HkAKbFWzgUMhxgZGDiYrjIwKGUqcW5g4Ldd3rcFQn5IXbWKGaiso4+RmSH+H0MngwLUZMarj4Rn S8vInf5yfO7mgrMyr9g/Jpa9XVbRdaxH58v1fO3vDCQDkCNv7mFgWMsAwXBHMoEceQ3kSMZbDFDn ITk1gBnJkeX/GDkRjmyccfus4BKl75HC2cnW1eXrjExNf66uYz+VGLl+snrF7j2EnHQy3JjDKPb9 3fOd9zT0TmofYZC4K8YQ8IkR6JaAT0zIJMjxtWaMmCEMdvwNnI5PYEYJYSTHM5EegqhggYbFhgsJ 9gJXy42PMx9JzYKEcFkcG0MJULYE2ZEGrZwHIMnASwc1GSw4mmH1JCCNQYEF7C7tjasVT+0/J3LP gie59HFL+5RDIdmZ8rGMEldN5s668eb/tp8vQ+7OrT9jPj/B7425QIGJI3Pft72dLxav8BefvcGU 7+kfABxJX+SjAgAA Decode with: $ base64 -d | gunzip > handshake.cap Run tshark to see if it correctly decrypt the ARP packet: $ tshark -r handshake.cap -o wlan.enable_decryption:TRUE -o wlan.wep_key1:wpa-pwd:password:SSID It should print: 1 0.000000 D-Link_a7:8e:b4 - HonHaiPr_22:09:b0 EAPOL Key 2 0.006997 HonHaiPr_22:09:b0 - D-Link_a7:8e:b4 EAPOL Key 3 0.038137 HonHaiPr_22:09:b0 - D-Link_a7:8e:b4 EAPOL Key 4 0.376050 ZyxelCom_68:3a:e4 - HonHaiPr_22:09:b0 ARP 192.168.1.1 is at 00:a0:c5:68:3a:e4

  • iPhone 3G can't see any WiFi networks, ever

    - by torbengb
I've got WiFi turned on in the settings, and ask before connect turned off. My iPhone 3G should see several WiFi networks, but it lists none. It also does not list my own network, which my computers see just fine. It has worked earlier but stopped working recently (possibly because of or at the same time of other trouble (which a restore solved)). The iPhone is not jailbroken. The SSID is not hidden, uses WPA2. It also finds no WiFi networks when I'm at a friend's house. His iPhone 2G sees several WiFi networks, including his own. When I use the manual entry method, specifying my home SSID and the proper WPA2 passkey, then click join, the iPhone says couldn't find that network. Same at my friend's place, with his SSID and passkey. I've just backed up my iPhone, then restored it, to see if refreshing the firmware would help. It didn't change anything. Is my iPhone broken? How can I fix this?
