I dont know a special API for it, so where to store persistent data's on a windows phone? Maybe in the win mobile registry or inside a file? Or should I use a light database? • v4l - capture and watch at the same time

  Capturing v4l and line-in audio using mencoder works very well, but I would like to record real-time gameplay video from consoles plugged into the video card. I've used xawtv for this (Works quite well, can preview and record in real time), but when I enable any deinterlacing or aspect ration options the video fails to record. I have to record raw and re-encode the video with the appropriate filters later to get something workable. Other things I have tried: tvtime with xvidcap and jack audio capture - xvidcap drops frames and muxing the audio is impossible as it will go out of sync (I have not found muxer options that work to force a correct frame rate) mencoder capture to file, attempt to pipe tail of file to mplayer... mencoder works great, piping the file is far too heavy to attempt gameplay. Soooo, v4l capture and preview simultaneously, recommendations?

• Reporting Services 2008: Virtual directories not visible in IIS7..

  I'm having some problems with Reporting Services on Windows Server 2008 Standard. I've installed server 2008 as a standalone webserver (with roles/features of an web application server). On top of that, I've installed Sql Server 2008 Standard with Reporting Services (and the rest of the BI tools). Problem is, I want to modify the rights on the virtual directories. However, the virtual directories aren't appearing in IIS 7 management tool. I can connect to reporting services, albeit only with the local windows admin account. I can download Report Builder fine from an session on the server (but not from any clients). I've tried removing the default website from IIS, and that stops the reporting services website from working. The machine (a VM) isn't for production use - it's used on a closed network internally for testing and development purposes. I need to be able to let my fellow developers login without a password, and they must be able to install ReportBuilder 2.0. Must not be linked to a domain or active directory in any form. Google isn't much help, the results suggest I modify the virtual directory Does anyone have any suggestions?

• What is the correct authentication mechanism when there are users inside and outside the domain?

  We have a Windows 7 enterprise desktop data entry app for mobile (laptop) users with local SQL Express 2008 R2 Express db that syncs data with an SQL Server 2008 R2 Server db. Authentication is required before syncing the data. The existing group of users are part of the organisation's domain so normal scenario and they connect to the Sql Server directly. But there are plans for a second group of app users who belong to various partner organisations so they are outside our domain and have their own various separate domains/accounts. The aim is to deploy the desktop app to them and they will periodically sync data to our SQL Server. What I am uncertain of: Is it possible to authenticate users from another domain? Can permissions be managed via Active Directory etc? Which authentication protocol should be used in this scenario? Windows, Forms, SQL, etc? The IT people are requesting users of the system be managed via Active Directory. Is it possible to manage the external domain users access via Active Directory?

• Hiding "Syntax OK" from apache2ctl output

  I am checking whether a particular apache module is installed using apache2ctl -M. When listing the modules, apache runs a syntax check on the configuration files which prints out "Syntax OK" if everything is fine. However, this message doesn't seem to be coming from STDOUT or STDERR as it shows even if all output is redirected to /dev/null. i.e. $ sudo apache2ctl -M Loaded Modules: core_module (static) log_config_module (static) ... Syntax OK $ sudo apache2ctl -M >/dev/null Syntax OK How is this being outputted, and is it possible to hide?

• User authentication on a Jersey REST service

  I am currently developing a REST application, which is using the Jersey framework. I would like to know a way that I can control user authentication. I have search a lot of places, and the closest article I have found is this: http://weblogs.java.net/blog/2008/03/07/authentication-jersey. However this article can only be used whith a GlassFish server and a attached database. Is there anyway that I can implement an interface in Jersey and use it as a filter before reaching the requested REST resource? I want to use basic authentication right now, but it should be flexible enough such that I can change that at a later time. Thanks in Advance Stefan.

• Metalanguage like BNF or XML-Schema to validate a tree-instance against a tree-model

  Hi! I'm implementing a new machine learning algorithm in Java that extracts a prototype datastructure from a set of structured datasets (tree-structure). As im developing a generic library for that purpose, i kept my design independent from concrete data-representations like XML. My problem now is that I need a way to define a data model, which is basically a ruleset describing valid trees, against which a set of trees is being matched. I thought of using BNF or a similar dialect. Basically I need a way to iterate through the space of all valid TreeNodes defined by the ModelTree (Like a search through the search space for algorithms like A*) so that i can compare my set of concrete trees with the model. I know that I'll have to deal with infinite spaces there but first things first. I know, it's rather tricky (and my sentences are pretty bumpy) but I would appreciate any clues. • Adjusting sql statement in a function based upon input

  Hey there, This is a bit urgent! I'm trying to make a simple filter search where-by you can choose from a series of 3 drop downs and then based upon this the results are then displayed, How would I go about adjusting the sql query for each and if you were to only choose to search from aone of the 3 rather than all 3 etc... example there could be the url with input such as: url.com?location=gb&color=3&hair=4 and still form the correct sql query for something like this: url.com?location=gb&hair=1 and not encounter problems with WHERE and AND etc etc and empty variables in the statement Would this not need to be a massive function to check using if to see how the data is set for all possibilities?   Hey guys, I have 3 tables with a column in each which relates to one ID per row. I am looking for an sql statement query which will check all 3 tables for any rows in the last 24 hours (86400 seconds) i have stored timestamps in each tables under column time. After I get this query I will be able to do the next step which is to then check to see how many of the ID's a reoccurring so I can then sort by most popular in the array and limit it to the top 5... • What is the problem with the logic in my UPDATE statement?

  Hello, I would appreciate some help with an UPDATE statement. I want to update tblOrderHead with the content from tblCustomer where the intDocumentNo corresponds to the parameter @intDocumentNo. But when I run the my statement, the order table is only updated with the content from the first row of the customer table. What is the problem with my logic? I use Microsoft SQL Server.   I have a directory full of log files in the form ${name}.log.${year}{month}${day} such that they look like this: logs/ production.log.20100314 production.log.20100321 production.log.20100328 production.log.20100403 production.log.20100410 ... production.log.20100314 production.log.old I'd like to use a bash script to filter out all the logs older than x amount of month's and dump it into *.log.old X=6 #months LIST=*.log.*; for file in LIST; do is_older = file_is_older_than_months( ${file}, ${X} ); if is_older; then cat ${c} >> production.log.old; rm ${c}; fi done; How can I get all the files older than x months? and... How can I avoid that *.log.old file is included in the LIST attribute? Thank you Stefan

  Hi, I would like to create my own data format for an iPhone app. The files should be similar structured as e.g. Apple's iWork files (.pages). That means, I have a folder with some files in it: The file 'Juicy.fruit' contains: Fruits ---> Apple.xml ---> Banana.xml ---> Pear.xml ---> PreviewPicture.png This folder "Fruits" should be packed in a handy file 'Juicy.fruit'. Compression isn't necessary. How could I achieve this? I've discovered some open source ZIP-libraries. • HOWTO: Deserialize WCF message using OperationContract

  Hi, I succeeded in building a WCF client generated by svcutil.exe from the WSDL. Using the generated client proxy class I can call the web service of an external service supplier. I also succeeded in coding a message inspector, as I need to log both raw XML request and response as full SOAP message to the database. For an emergency szenario I also need to be able to "import" a raw XML response. I found many hints on using XMLSerializer or deserializing WCF messages based on the message contract. But how can I deserialize a raw XML response based on an operation contract? For a first test I use one of the logged raw responses, save it to a file and now try to deserialize it to the response type as generated in the client proxy. Somehow I must succeed in calling DeserializeReply() from class ClientOperation. But how to get there? I happily acced any help as I'm quite new to WCF... TIA, Stefan

• Missing safe control entry

  I've got a working hello-world like webpart for my SPS3.0 I can compile, pack and deploy it using VS2008, makecab.exe and stsadm. So I know the theory of deploying sharepoint webparts. My problem: After I inserted an additional .webpart file, an elements.xml and a feature.xml to deploy the .webpart file and get knowledge about adding features to my webpart, the deployed webpart is missing its safe control entry in the web.config. But the dll can be found in the gac and my features are also deployed to the right folders. I didn't change anything in my manifest.xml especially not in it's -tag, because it definitely worked before i added my additional feature files. Can anybody help me? • How to access fields in JSON object by index

  I know this isn't the best way to do it, but I have no other choice :( I have to access the items in JSONObject by their index. The standard way to access objects is to just wirte this[objectName] or this.objectName. I also found a method to get all the fields inside a json object: (for (var key in p) { if (p.hasOwnProperty(key)) { alert(key + " -> " + p[key]); } } (Soruce : Loop through Json object). However there is no way of accessing the JSONfields directly by a index. The only way I see right now, is to create an array, with the function above, get the fieldname by index and then get the value by fieldname. As far as I see it, the p (in our case the JSON file must be an iteratable array to, or else the foreach loop wouldn't work. How can I access this array directly? Or is it some kind of unsorted list?
