  • Ubuntu 10.04 Cant Adjust brightness on my lenevo Thinkpad?

    I cant seem to be able to adjust the brightness on my think-pad laptop running Ubuntu 10.04. In the power management applet it shows that the power is set to 100%, but even if i try to lower it the actual screen brightness dosent change. Any ideas of how I can get around this? I tried changing the brightness from the terminal but its already set to Max brightness (however the actual screen brightness is no that bright at all). Thanks

  • keyboard shortcut to switch focus between separate X screens?

    I'm using XFCE on a dual monitor setup, with Xorg configured to separate X screens (neither twinview nor cinerama is working on GF470 with latest nvidia drivers). I'm not using xrandr. Suppose I have firefox running on one screen (:0.0) and thunderbird on the other (:0.1). When I want to switch focus from thunderbird to firefox, I need to move my mouse pointer to the firefox window and click (alt-tab switches between windows on a single screen only). Is there any keyboard shortcut for switching focus between screens?

  • DNS updating issue

    Hey guys, I'm new to serverfault so please excuse me if I sound a tad nub. I work in an environment that is kinda peace mealed together, and I honestly don't know how it works. I'm new to the IT field and am still in school. When I replace a PC I rename the old one to mo-o-pcname and give the new one the proper name of mo-pcname (mo is a location thing we use so it really doesn't apply to the problem.) The new PC will function on the network; it will have the ability to access network resources (printers, file shares, etc) and it will have the ability to get out to the internet. However I can no longer ping the machine. It would appear as if the DNS (A) record is not getting updated or something. Like I said I'm kinda new to the field and just trying to work through this problem. Thanks for your help.

  • How does static code run with multiple threads?

    I was reading http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1511798/threading-from-within-a-class-with-static-and-non-static-methods and I am in a similar situation. I have a static method that pulls data from a resource and creates some runtime objects based on the data. static class Worker{ public static MyObject DoWork(string filename){ MyObject mo = new MyObject(); // ... does some work return mo; } } The method takes awhile (in this case it is reading 5-10mb files) and returns an object. I want to take this method and use it in a multiple thread situation so I can read multiple files at once. Design issues / guidelines aside, how would multiple threads access this code? Let's say I have something like this... class ThreadedWorker { public void Run() { Thread t = new Thread(OnRun); t.Start(); } void OnRun() { MyObject mo = Worker.DoWork("somefilename"); mo.WriteToConsole(); } } Does the static method run for each thread, allowing for parallel execution?

  • The amount of memory used by each process

    I have a mysql server running debian with 2GO of RAM. I would like to know the amount of memory used by each process. I thought ps -aux was the command and options for it. But I only see 90 MO used by several processes and free -m tells me that 1400 MO are used. Is there a way to have a better view with the processes and the memory used by them ?

I have followed this : http://webpy.org/cookbook/i18n_support_in_template_file So, in my .wsgi there is : #i18n gettext.install('messages',I18N_PATH,unicode=True) gettext.translation('messages',I18N_PATH,languages=['fr_FR','en_US']).install(True) So i ran : pygettext.py -a -v -d messages -o i18n/messages.po controllers/*.py views/*.html I have copied and translated messages.po, I have also change the "content-type" and the "content-transfer-encoding: "Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8\n" "Content-Transfer-Encoding: UTF-8\n" And i ran this command: msgfmt -v -o i18n/fr_FR/LC_MESSAGES/messages.mo i18n/fr_FR/LC_MESSAGES/messages.po >>>93 messages traduits. here is the arborescence of i18n folder: i18n/: en_US fr_FR messages.po i18n/en_US: LC_MESSAGES i18n/en_US/LC_MESSAGES: messages.mo messages.po i18n/fr_FR: LC_MESSAGES i18n/fr_FR/LC_MESSAGES: messages.mo messages.po But when i go in my website (my browser's language is "fr_fr"), i haven't the string translated.     I don't have access to a multi-socketed computer, so I am unsure if the following will get the grand total of processors and logical processors.   • regsvr32 fails on Windows Server 2003 - LoadLibaray ("my.dll") failed

    The DLL in question is a VB6 web class. When deploying, the old one needs to be unregistered and the new one registered. This has worked for many years but has failed now with the following error in a message box: LoadLibrary("c:...\my.dll") failed - The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect. I don't think there's a problem with the DLL being (un)registered because it's failing to unregister the existing DLL that was at one time successfully registered. I don't think there's a filename or path problem. Regsvr32 is executed using a batch file where the full path to the DLL is specified. The path has not changed. The batch file has not changed. The DLL has not changed (at least not the old one I need to unregister). It's a programming problem to me because I need to release an updated DLL, but I'm thinking it's maybe an admin problem best suited to the talents of the serverfault audience. I'm hoping somebody knows about a Windows Update or something that might hose regsvr32. Thank you.

  • restricting access only through domains on nginx on virtual hosts

    I have finished setting up nginx for virtual hosting, this is how my config files look like server { listen 80; server_name domain.com; access_log /home/domain.com/prod_webapp/logs/access.domain.com.log; error_log /home/domain.com/prod_webapp/logs/error.domain.com.log; location /static { root /home/domain.com/prod_webapp/mocorner/ph/; } location / { try_files $uri @uwsgi; } location @uwsgi { include uwsgi_params; uwsgi_pass unix:/tmp/domain_uwsgi.sock; }} on the same machine, I have domain1.com and domain2.com, each when i access I get its content which is great. My problem is that when i try to access the user using the IP address i get one of the sites in the virtual hosts too.. Although i disabled the default (removed the symbolic link) from sites-enabled folder but still not solved it for me. any suggestions?

    I have been convinced (over at stackoverflow) to use my beloved bash in vi mode. So far I got used to it quite well and I like it. However I really do miss one feature: In emacs-mode, you can enter the last parameter of the previous command by pressing "ESC ." (That is, press escape followed by the .) Is there a default binding to insert the last parameter in vi-mode? I wasn't able to find one and I really miss this command... Thanks a lot

  • Weblogic Class-Path Dependencies EAR

    I am deploying an EAR in a WebLogic node with many jars defined in the bootstrap (startWeblogicServer.bat) class-path. The problem is that my ear and the bootstrap contain different versions of the same jars, not only that but certain jars contain extracted third party libraries which also differ in version from the WebLogic bootstrap jars causing all kinds of classpath errors. I know you can set preferred jars in the EAR application xml but, this can be very tedious to resolve with regards to jars which include extracted third party libraries in terms of understanding all the dependencies.. Is there a correct approach that i need to be taking here? Am i thinking about this in the wrong way? Any help would be greatly appreciated! So far prefer-web-inf-classes has been recommended but wont work because i'm not deploying a WAR, also prefer-application-packages is what we are currently using but still has the issue described above... Anymore advice out there?? Thanks!

  • Collision Detection, player correction

    I am having some problems with collision detection, I have 2 types of objects excluding the player. Tiles and what I call MapObjects. The tiles are all 16x16, where the MapObjects can be any size, but in my case they are all 16x16. When my player runs along the mapobjects or tiles, it get verry jaggy. The player is unable to move right, and will get warped forward when moving left. I have found the problem, and that is my collision detection will move the player left/right if colliding the object from the side, and up/down if collision from up/down. Now imagine that my player is sitting on 2 tiles, at (10,12) and (11,12), and the player is mostly standing on the (11,12) tile. The collision detection will first run on then (10,12) tile, it calculates the collision depth, and finds that is is a collision from the side, and therefore move the object to the right. After, it will do the collision detection with (11,12) and it will move the character up. So the player will not fall down, but are unable to move right. And when moving left, the same problem will make the player warp forward. This problem have been bugging me for a few days now, and I just can't find a solution! And I know its the chunk of code I mentioned above because when I remove it and visit m.mywebsite.com from my mobile device everything loads up.So this bit of code does SOMETHING to my css/img/js MIME TYPES. I'm collecting as much info as possible. I want to save the staff here from having to manually enter the date and time each time they open the form.
