  • Design problem with callback functions in android

    Hi folks! I'm currently developing an app in android that is accessing wifi values, that is, the application needs to scan for all access point and their specific signal strengths. I know that I have to extend the class BroadcastReceiver overwriting the method BroadcastReceiver.onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) which is called when the values are ready. Perhaps there exist solutions provided by the android system itself but I'm relatively new to android so I could need some help. The problem I encountered is that I got one class (an activity, thus controlled by the user) that needs this scan results for two different things (first to save the values in a database or second, to use them for further calculations but not both at one moment!) So how to design the callback system in order to "transport" the scan results from onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) to the operation intended by the user? My first solution was to define enums for each use case (save or use for calculations) which wlan-interested classes have to submit when querying for the values. But that would force the BroadcastReceiverextending class to save the current enum and use it as a parameter in the callback function of the querying class (this querying class needs to know what it asked for when getting backcalled) But that seems to me kind of dirty ;) So anyone a good idea for this?

  • Framework/App for custom maps(not general google maps)

    Hi! I've started to develop in Android 2 weeks ago and until now, I like it! Currently I am working on a project where I have to display an individual map (not a google maps view, I'd like to display the map of a building's interior) with which the user can interact(mark positions, etc.). Is there a framework or an existing app that I could use? Of course I searched the internet but could not find anything. Perhaps it is in some way possible to use the google maps API? I hope you can help me, thanks in advance!

    Ihave the tree view in which i have file system of logical disk. When user select some files and folders and press button programm evaluate the size of selected files and folders. this function may takes a long time. i decide do thread which will run this function. This function works with array of TreeNode. but then i want to now was it node expaned or not compiler say: "attempt to access control "treeview1" not from the thread, in which it was created." Why it appeared?     i create my own dialog form with two buttons (ok, cancel) and checked list box. i want to get all selected strings in first form which shown second form. for that purpose i do function GetSelected which return CheckedIndices-GetEnumerator() of my list box. now i want to deselect all strings on pressed cancel button. And deselect all strings on close form by pressing X in corner of form. how to track click the X?

  • Django: How to override a related sets "add" method?

    I am working on a django project and i want to send a signal when something get's added to some models related set, e.g. we have an owner wo has a set of collectables and each time the method owner.collectable_set.add(something) is getting called i want signal like "collectable_added" or something. signals are clear to me, but in which manager(?) the "add" method sits that i want to override is unclear to me. edit: Upon the request of Xaver to provide more details. You can easily override a models "save" method, by simply defining it and calling the super-"save" so it get's properly saved with some extra functionality for example. But i wonder where to override a related sets "add" method. gosh, i think i haven't brought in any further details. but i think it even should be clear what i want to do from the first paragraph. edit2: This is the method i want to override. Is it recommended to do so or do you suggest another way to place the sending of the signal?

It is so great to see such a supportive place - featuring the knowledge exchange! today i have the following thing to discuss: i want to separate the following data that are stored in one column of a calc-spreadsheet: See the following data: You see that there are the following categories:_ steet, postal-code, town All the data are stored in only one Colum; Well to be honest: i want to separate them into three colums steet, postal-code, town see the data: what can i do? note - you see that there are commas inbetween the enties: and besides this we see that we have a postal-code with four digits: that is a good thing. Perhaps we can use this as a marker that helps us to separate the data?! Perhaps See a data-sample! Here you can see some exceptions: eg. the town that has two words combinde with a "-" ... or somethims without any signs and characters... see the following... as an example: Max-Bader-Platz 1, 5620 Schwarzach im Pongau Pestalozzistraße 4, 9990 Nussdorf-Debant Schulstraße 4, 5162 Obertrum am See But i guess that this means no problem...
