  • Garbage collection of Strings returned from C# method calls in ascx pages

    Hi, For a web application developed on ASP.NET, we are finding that for user control files (ascx) we are returning long strings as a result of method calls. These are embedded in the ascx pages using the special tags <% %> When performing memory dump analysis for the application, we find that many of those strings are not being garbage collected. Also, the ascx pages are compiled to temporary DLLs and they are held in memory. Is this responsible for causing the long strings to remain in memory and not be garbage collected ? Note : The strings are larger than 85K in size.

  • How to set source path of image within html pages to show in webbrowser control

    Hi in my application there is web browser control to show some static html pages. The pages are displayed properly. but images are not displayed.. I tried with changing src-path but no success. my htmlpages folder is located at bin folder. And i am assigning it as. FileStream source = new FileStream(@"..\HtmlPages\supportHtml.html", FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read); if i open html files in browser, the images are displayed properly.. So, What is the correct path for images..?? If i set full path to src attribute of <img> tag..it works. but i think its not a proper way. :( EDIT: If i assign d:\myapp\bin\HtmlPages\support.gif then image is displayed. And if i assign "..\HtmlPages\support.gif" or "support.gif" image is not shown.

  • Virtual pages for my plugin

    Hi, I am currently in the process of making a WordPress Plugin which is going to parse some external data (products) from various web services and present them as normal pages in WordPress. I would like to avoid actually creating the pages programatically and instead just generate them on the fly to avoid any synchronization issues if a product is deleted and so forth. My plugin is going to have a base url in which it will hook on to, for example /products/, and then I would generate each product page by calling /products/some-product-name/. I also anticipate the need for uri's like /products/category/some-category-name/ which I will use to list all items in that category. Since I am new to WordPress plugin development, I am looking for some tips and advice to get me started on the right foot. Any help is highly appreciated ;)

    I want to show some panel with a label that is located on a MasterPage from inside it's child pages.. I already did the coding on the MasterPage: public class MyMaster : MasterPage { public void ShowPanel(string pMessage) { labelInside.Text = pMessage; myPanel.visible = true; } } Then I make the calls from child pages: public void ShowPanel(string pMessage) { MyMaster masterPage = this.Master as MyMaster; masterPage.ShowPanel(pMessage); } This "works" ok, but it won't show nothing, since I need the page to be "refreshed" in an "ajax-way" like an UpdatePanel, which I can't use because the Trigger is in another page, right? I really need this to work.. even if you have another completely different way to do this, I would appreciate.

    I'm trying out ASP.NET MVC, but, after reading a huge tutorial, I'm slightly confused. I understand how Controllers have Actions that URLs are routed to, but how do home pages work? Is the home page its own controller (e.g. "Home") that has no actions? This sounds correct, but how is it functionality implemented without Actions (no Actions means no methods that call the View Engine)? In other words, my question is this: how are home pages implemented (in terms of Controllers and Views)? Could you please provide sample code?

But because I'm new to module dev overall I couldn't figure it out based on the answer.   • How to communicate/share a session between pages over HTTP and HTTPS

    What is common practice for coding web applications where part of the site has to be secured (e.g. checkout section) and part not necessarily, let's say homepage? As far as I know sharing sessions in between HTTP and HTTPS parts of the site is not easily possible (or is it?). What would be common approach if I wanted to display on HTTP page like homepage, shopping cart data (items) that users ordered on HTTPS pages? How those two parts of the site would communicate if necessary? Also isn't it security flaw in popular shopping carts as it seems that many of these have only checkout pages secured (SSL) and the rest not? I'm using PHP if it makes any difference.

Andrews III. I've added those library files (anytimec.js and anytimec.css) to the <head> section of my master page. Rather than include these JavaScript and Cascading Style Sheet files on every page of my web site, how can I instead include the .js and .css files only on pages that need them--pages that edit a DateTime type value?

  • Asp.net Site on GoDaddy Loads Slowly

    I just published a very small site to GoDaddy that I programmed in Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008. The site only contains 6 sheets, none of which are data intensive. Each has a few small images that serve mostly to navigate to the other sheets. There is no data, no SQL, nothing like that. There is one master page that governs the page layout for all of the pages. Everything works fine, for the most part. I am posting because the site loads quite slowly, particularly considering how little content is being loaded. Can anybody give me any advice about what I should look at to speed this thing up a little bit? Is this an asp.net issue? Use of master pages? Godaddy? Something else? I'm a newbie, so speak slowly.     Hi everybody, I have a site that features some pages which do not require any post-back functionality. They simply display static HTML and don't even have any associated code. However, since the Master Page has a <form runat="server"> tag which wraps all ContentPlaceHolders, the resulting HTML always contains the ViewState field, i.e: <input type="hidden" id="__VIEWSTATE" value="/wEPDwUKMjEwNDQyMTMxM2Rk0XhpfvawD3g+fsmZqmeRoPnb9kI=" /> I realize, that when decrypted, this string corresponds to the <form> tag which I cannot remove. However, I would still like to remove the ViewState field for pages that only display static HTML. Is it possible?

  • Getting the errors for code in unopened .aspx pages

    Is there a way to check for errors in unopened *.ASPX pages. For example, if you change the name of a function Visual Studio will catch the error on the page and list it in the "Error List" only if the page is opened and being validated? I guess the question could be is there a validation option opposed to the compile option to check for errors? (Yes, i know code should go into the pre-compiled code-behind pages.)   • EnumJobs not returning Copies & Total Pages

    I'm using Windows API's EnumJobs to find the PageCount and Copies of a print job, but I found that these fields are almost always zero when called on a print server. Although it could be my timing is out, because the number of pages increment as the job prints and once it's done the print job cannot be accessed. So there is about half a nanosecond when the values in EnumJobs is correct before it dissapears. I've been scouring the web but can't find any help on this, just other people with similar problems. Anybody with experience with EnumJobs or can suggest other means of determining the total number of pages printed?

    Hi, I have a db with two tables like these below, page table pg_id title 1 a 2 b 3 c 4 d tagged table tagged_id pg_id 1 1 2 4 I want to select the pages which are tagged, I tried with this query below but doesn't work, SELECT * FROM root_pages LEFT JOIN root_tagged ON ( root_tagged.pg_id = root_pages.pg_id ) WHERE root_pages.pg_id != root_tagged.pg_id It returns zero - Showing rows 0 - 1 (2 total, Query took 0.0021 sec) But I want it to return pg_id title 2 b 3 c My query must have been wrong?? How can I return the pages which are not tagged correctly? Thanks.

    Im trying to achieve current page highlights on wordpress similar to this site Alex Soth. I'm very nearly there with my css. At present i have current page highlights on pages, ie. home,calendar, projects. However when it come to current page highlights on child pages i have a problem. the indented child page list appears on hover when selecting a child page, but after page selection the menu reverts back to the standard pages menu with no visible child menus? unlike the link to the Alex Soth site where the extended menu stays and current page is highlighted I know that the answer will be a simple piece of css involving current_page_item and possible position:relative to obtain the menu staying visible after selection. But i can for the life of me work it out.   • Add code to html pages automatically

    I need to add some code to the of several html contained in a folder on my desktop. How can i do that? I am using a prototyping tool (Axure) on Mac and I want to add some html meta tags to the generated pages. These pages can be overwritten every time I generate the prototype. What I need is a sort of script that I can launch after re-generating the prototype, to reinsert the code.   • continuous deployment with github pages and GAE python

    I have a site hosted by google app engine. I've pushed all the html files to a github pages repo and what I want to do next is somehow make GAE listen to my github's changes. Like everytime i commit something new, GAE will deploy itself based on the changes. I've heared of drydrop but that was when github pages didn't exist yet. So what should i do next? I've set up a post-receive url , which is my appspot website, through the github's service hooks, added the CNAME file to my repo which contains my appspot url. Not sure if that's necessary. I've googled a lot on this but none really answers my question. or I just don't know the right search term for it. Thanks in advance

I am desperately searching a way, how to cope with this website. i really want this done. i do not want any code but a way to nevigate throgh the grid using query string if it does work. Otherwise please be specific to the problem.

    I managed to get ASP.NET to work in Apache, as per http://weblogs.asp.net/israelio/archive/2005/09/11/424852.aspx but I'm unsure how to get it to rewrite pages, with a web.config file. I've tried using Google endlessly, but came to nothing. What's the best solution for me to rename my pages, e.g. mytestpage.aspx to mytestpage.htm Also, anyone know how to get IIS and MySQL working? I've tried but I'm struggling to get it to work. I did this simply because I needed multiple sites on port 80 on localhost, and the website I'm developing is not suited to PHP. IIS is installed, but not being used at the moment. Thanks
