• Can't run .net software on Samsung Omnia Pro B7330

  I've got a Samsung Omnia Pro B7330, and am unable to run any program for .net compact framework on it. My last three Smartphones had been HTC brand, and all the programs I tried are just simple winform apps, which ran on all HTC phones. But not on the Omnia. Whenever I try to start an app, I get an "unexpected error" / "NotSupportedException" at: Microsoft.AGL.Common.MISC.HandleArt() System.Windows.Forms.Control._InitInstalce() System.Windows.Forms.Control..ctor() System.Windows.Forms.Button..ctor() MyApp.InitializeComponents() The proper compact framework 2.0 is already installed in the rom, installing CF 3.5 didn't change anything. Anyone can tell me whats the problem with this phone?

• Raid recovery in gigabyte GA-8I945 Pro

  This was a working machine until a few days ago. And now it won't boot into the OS, during startup if makes clicking sounds (I think from one of the drives). Installed OS: Windows 2003 Web edition Hardware: Gigabyte GA-8I945P Pro , 2*160G Sata in RAID1 configuration , 2 Volumes – 25G and the rest. When I installed windows on it, during setup, I pressed F6 and used ICH7DH drivers of RAID. The manual for the MOBO says: Step 1: After the POST memory test begins and before the operating system boot begins, look for a message which says "Press to enter Configuration utility" (Figure 4). Press CTRL+ I to enter the RAID BIOS setup utility. But the machine never shows this message. BIOS SATA RAID/AHCI Mode is set to RAID. Any ideas or pointers on what I can do to recover my data? I already know that Microsoft now requires you to enter a key before even starting the installation process, and that it tries to connect to the Internet and activate this key as soon as possible. Sometimes, though, you don't have Internet connection when installing Windows 8. What then? Can you install Windows? Can you use it? What are the limitations? For how long can you keep your copy of Windows usable without activation?

• Trouble with external monitor under Windows 7 on MacBook Pro Boot Camp

  I'm running Windows 7 32-bit on a mid-2010 15" MacBook Pro Intel Core i5 under Boot Camp. I've had trouble getting it to work with my second display and searching Google for an appropriate answer has failed me. I'm on the latest version of Boot Camp - 3.2 - and have updated the drivers for the NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M. The monitor is connected via a VGA cable, and is a Dell ST2410. The monitor is recognised by Windows, which knows it's a Dell and its resolution. The desktop should be extended onto the second monitor - however nothing is showing. It remains black, though it doesn't show a lack of signal coming through which I would have expected. Any ideas what's wrong?

• Getting More Performance out of a MacBook Pro

  So I've got a mid-2009 MacBook Pro 13". Integrated GPU so not a games machine but fast enough for doing .Net development in VMs. I love the little thing and wanted to give it a Christmas present so thought I'd mod it up a bit and give it a boost. I'm thinking of swapping out the stock 5400rpm HD with a faster hybrid drive (has 4GB RAM and spins at 7200rpm) but was wondering if any of you had tried or knew of anything else I could change/upgrade/mod to squeeze more out of my laptop. Before you answer though, please be aware that I'm not sure I can run to putting in the 8GB of RAM Apple have suggested :-( Thanks in advance.

• Moving tool bars in Acrobat X Pro

  I'm using Acrobat X pro for Windows. I found that two lines of tool bar takes too much space. So I would like to combine them into one line, or move them to left or right side. I do know that I can hide those tool bars by Ctrl+H. But I want to use them without hiding. Since most documents I use are letter size and portrait type, tool bars on the left or right side would be much more efficient way of using space. Does anybody know how I can do this? (I think I could do it in Acrobat 9..but I can't in X version)

• Windows 7 Pro x64 suffering from insomnia

  My Win 7 Pro x64 is unable to enter sleep mode. Pressing the sleep button results in strange state where the computer starts entering the sleep mode, the display is turned off but then the whole process stops, it does not switch off the hdd, the keyboard still responds to numlock/capslock, but the display does not on anymore. I have to cut power and restart. If I remove everything (wireless mouse, external hdd, usb hub, etc.) it does enter sleep mode, but if there is something left, it does not, though every one of them has "Allow the computer to turn off this device..." checked and "Allow this device to wake the computer" unchecked. Why does it not work? It was working properly in the RC.

• Win XP Pro, IIS 5.1, PCI Compliance

  I have a client that was scanned and determined not to be PCI Compliant. I looked and they had IIS setup to allow a program from central office to push/pull info from their server. Many of the reasons they failed appeared to have been fixed in SPs (they were on SP2) or security updates. I fully patched the server to (Windows XP Pro) SP3 with all optional updates. I had them scan again and again they failed with only one less vulnerability that I manually corrected (server was showing debugging/error messages). The main issue I'm having is that when I research the CVE code for each error, they say they are fixed in SP2 and up. I'm wondering if I need to remove IIS and resetup since I have patched to SP3. Any ideas?

• Windows 7 Pro - "domain" like login screen appeared

  I'm setting up a new PC with the Windows 7 Pro. After some actions (software installing, config changes, applying updates ), my login screen looks like the PC is connected to the domain: I have checked the settings and everywhere the "workgroup" is checked. I have been googling for three hours trying some solutions (Control UserPasswords2, regedit and the ".DEFAULT" key) but nothing works. I cannot see the user icons - only the login screen as above. I cannot also change the account icon. Has anybody seen such an issue?

  I am trying to install a dual boot with windows 7 premium and windows 8 Pro on an XPS 8500 special edition. I created a new primary partition on my C: drive, inserted the windows 8 install disk, and rebooted my computer from DVD. I select custom install and the dialog box saying where do you want to install windows at? pops up but none of my drives are listed. Please help me determine what is going on? I don't understand why none of my drives are showing up on this menu. Not even the original drive. When I go to load driver and click on the partition I created it tells me "No signed device drivers were found. Make sure the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK."

  I'd like to install Gentoo Linux on my Macbook Pro by keeping my current OS X installation. I currently have OS X installed on a RAID 0 on two 160GB Intel SSDs and I'd like to create a new partition for Gentoo alongside OS X without losing the RAID setup but, from what I read on the net, Apple's software RAID is poorly (read "not at all") supported: BootCamp refuses to create a windows partition on a RAID volume rEFIt is not able to boot an OS from a software RAID even Apple's recovery partition for Lion can't be created on a RAID volume Is there a way to dual boot my Macbook while keeping the RAID solution?

  Hello, I was searching for a long time a Linux Live USB that I can boot my macbook pro from. Is there such distro so I can install it on Snow Leopard or Windows 7? UPDATE I've found this: "isohybrid" CD images (..) are special in that as well as the normal CD-based ISO9660 filesystem they also contain a valid-looking DOS-style partition table. Thus, if you simply copy one of these images raw to a USB stick a normal PC BIOS will boot the image directly. (...) Finally: I'd like to add support into xorriso for creating the nasty HFS hybrid images that are needed for booting Macs. The code that does this in cdrkit is probably some of the worst that I've ever worked with, and I'd like to get away from it. • Equalizer for Toshiba Satellite Pro Laptop (Windows 7) (has Realtek sound)

  Hi, I've been trying to find a way to have a real equalizer for my Toshiba Satellite Pro Laptop. I don't know much about computers but the guys in the store seem to know less than I do! From what I've been able to glean through friends, Windows 7 no longer supports a real equalizer function with Realtek, and the result is a fake "equalizer" that does nothing. I have hearing issues so not being able properly adjust the higher frequencies is causing me physical pain and ringing in my ears. I've tried to decipher the threads I find online but am quite confused by them. Basically I need an equalizer that will work with Windows 7 (with everything, internet, skype, music, etc). The current drivers offered by Realtek do nothing except make the sound inaudible. The one that may possibly work and provide an actual equalizer is a few versions back and can't be found anywhere. • Ctrl-t / New-Tab in Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 8.1 Pro Doesn't Work

  Steps: Open IE on the desktop. Observe that home page opened. Click around (or not) and observe IE works. Either type ctrl-t or click on the new tab area next to current tab. Observe no new tab opens and the current page is now blank. At this point IE is inoperable and requires a restart. It seems to work fine in the Metro interface. I have reset the Internet Options and removed and re-added Internet Explorer under "Turn Windows Features on or off". Help :) Windows 8.1 Pro, 64-bit IE 11 AMD Phenom II X2 560 3.30 GHz 8 GB RAM

  I bought a Lenovo 430K with Windows 7 Home Premium and upgraded it to Windows 8 Pro. I created a DVD from which I installed the Windows 8 Pro upgrade. I'm underwhelmed with Windows 8, however. I want to install Linux as the host OS and run Windows 8 Pro as a guest OS. Will the Windows 8 Pro DVD that I created install Windows 8 Pro in a virtual machine, or would that virtual machine have to have Windows 7 installed first in order to install the upgrade?

• PayPal Payments Pro Sandbox requires membership?

  Do I need to pay the $30 just to play around in the sandbox for Website Payments Pro? I'm trying to get Active Merchant working in Rails, and it's giving me an error "invalid merchant configuration"... after digging around a bit it says I need to "accept the billing agreement" and/or sign up for the Payments Pro first. So, do I need to pay the $30 just to test in sandbox? Or is there another workaround for this error?

• Attempts at NIC teaming on Server 2008 R2 with PRO/1000 MT

  I have a Dell PowerEdge 1850 server and a gigabit switch that supports nic teaming (and was configured to do so). The server has a total of four Intel PRO/1000 MT ports, which also support teaming. But.. for some reason Intel does not actually have a version of the drivers/ProSet that will work for these cards on 2008 R2. You have to use the built-in drivers that come with 2008 R2, which do not support the additional features. According to their website, they have no plans to change this. Strangely enough, I experimented with various drivers in an attempt to force it to work. At one point, the teaming was working, but there were side effects (such as the DNS server refusing to start). So now I am back to running just one of the cards, (very) frustrated about the whole situation. I have looked all over to see if there is some way around this, but have not had any success. I know I can probably just get a new network adapter for it, but with the good deal I got, that would cost more than the server! :) While staying with 2008 R2, does anyone know of any possible alternatives? • Windows 8 auto-hibernate from sleep not working on Retina MacBook Pro

  I have a similar question to this one. Only my context is the 15" Retina MacBook Pro - and Windows 8. I have just the original Mac OS X Mountain Lion on there, then Windows 8 via Bootcamp. no rEFIt installed. (I just press ALT every time I restart windows, actually as a security measure to stop tech-unsavvy thugs, who, if the laptop is stolen, think it's only a mac and don't discover my Windows as quickly as they would've, and by that time I remotely activate various anti-theft mac apps and nab them that way). SO: like the related question asks, why isn't it behaving like it should? The Windows 7 FAQ states: Will sleep eventually drain my laptop battery? If your laptop battery charge gets critically low while the computer is asleep, Windows automatically puts the laptop into hibernation mode. But this is just not happening - on my rMBP Windows 8. It seems EVERY time I set the laptop to sleep (when it reaches 10%), then arriving home and plugging it in and hoping to simply resume my work, it does NOT save the session to disk and I lose ALL my work. Who's fault is it? Win 8's (a bug, grr)? Or Apple's EFI system (maybe fixable via editing EFI options/do I have to install refit to make it work perhaps?) Or maybe changing windows power options can somehow fix the problem? Thanks for your help.

• Installing Linux on an Asus p8z68-m PRO Motherboard

  Here is a challenge: how is this done? I've tried disabling the ASM1061 controller in the Onboard Devices section, using Wubi, booting from USB (as I don't have a DVD drive, yet), and even booting from RAID/IDE (with AHCI as the default) to do this. Still, no dice. Google shows up virtually nothing related about Linux and this mobo, apart from a people just saying "disable ASMedia" (which, I assume is the ASM1061 controller, as that's all I see - apart from the USB 3.0, which I disabled already) and it hasn't really helped much. Thus, what is wrong here? Edit My problem is that I cannot boot Linux via USB or a simple Windows installer such as Wubi (for Ubuntu). I wind up getting error messages along the lines of write cache failed, along with many other cryptic error messages similar to the following: [ 1400.351374] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] Test WP failed, assume Write Enabled [ 1400.353433] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] Asking for cache data failed [ 1400.356601] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] Assuming drive cache: write through This seems to be common for Asus P8Z68-M Pro motherboards, with the only notable solution being to "disable ASMedia", which, as I said before, I'm guessing is the ASM1061 controller on the motherboard. Despite already disabling this, I have tried this with both Fedora and Ubuntu without any success. I need to know what I can do about this; has anyone ran into something similar or heard about this issue before? I know these motherboards are relatively new...

• Ungrounded laptop (Macbook Pro) buzzes in headphones, weird feeling when fingers brush lightly

  I've got a nearly 3-year-old MacBook Pro 15" 2.16GHz (MacBookPro2,2). When I have am not using the extended, grounded adapter for the power supply, just using the simple, two-prong plug I can hear a buzzing when I use very sensitive earbuds. This goes away if I touch a metal part of the laptop. Also, I can feel a weird, fuzzy feeling when I brush the metal parts of the laptop lightly with my fingers/skin. Somewhat similar to feeling of a touching hair or a balloon that's charged with static electricity. But I'm not getting sparks or anything. And if I'm touching a metal part of my laptop solidly (not just brushing it) and then I touch someone else's skin I can feel the same effect and so can my victim. I've noticed similar effects with an ungrounded electric blanket. But with that the buzzing can be easily heard without headphones. Is this a defect, normal, or something else? And what exactly is happening?
