  • Equivalent of NextResult() method in Dataset/DataAdapter?

    - by flopdix
Hi All, I have a stored procedure that contains 3 select statements hence i get 3 resultsets. I am aware that using SqlDataReader, i can use NextResult() method to jump to the 2nd or 3rd resultsets by calling it twice or thrice. But i want to use the dataset/dataadapter, is there any ways that i can achieve this by not changing my stored procedure? tia!

  • Need advice on comparing the performance of 2 equivalent linq to sql queries

    - by uvita
I am working on tool to optimize linq to sql queries. Basically it intercepts the linq execution pipeline and makes some optimizations like for example removing a redundant join from a query. Of course, there is an overhead in the execution time before the query gets executed in the dbms, but then, the query should be processed faster. I don't want to use a sql profiler because I know that the generated query will be perform better in the dbms than the original one, I am looking for a correct way of measuring the global time between the creation of the query in linq and the end of its execution. Currently, I am using the Stopwatch class and my code looks something like this: var sw = new Stopwatch(); sw.Start(); const int amount = 100; for (var i = 0; i < amount; i++) { ExecuteNonOptimizedQuery(); } sw.Stop(); Console.Writeline("Executing the query {2} times took: {0}ms. On average, each query took: {1}ms", sw.ElapsedMilliseconds, sw.ElapsedMilliseconds / amount, amount); Basically the ExecutenNonOptimizedQuery() method creates a new DataContext, creates a query and then iterates over the results. I did this for both versions of the query, the normal one and the optimized one. I took the idea from this post from Frans Bouma. Is there any other approach/considerations I should take? Thanks in advance!

  • Replace into equivalent for postgresql and then autoincrementing an int

    - by Mohamed Ikal Al-Jabir
Okay no seriously, if a postgresql guru can help out I'm just getting started. Basically what I want is a simple table like such: CREATE TABLE schema.searches ( search_id serial NOT NULL, search_query character varying(255), search_count integer DEFAULT 1, CONSTRAINT pkey_search_id PRIMARY KEY (search_id) ) WITH ( OIDS=FALSE ); I need something like REPLACE INTO for mysql. I don't know if I have to write my own procedure or something? Basically: check if the query already exists if so, just add 1 to the count it not, add it to the db I can do this in my php code but I'd rather all that be done in postgres C engine Thanks for helping

  • CueText equivalent for a TMemo

    - by JosephStyons
I have this Delphi code to set the cue text of a control on my form: procedure TfrmMain.SetCueText(edt: TWinControl; cueText: string); const ECM_FIRST = $1500; EM_SETCUEBANNER = ECM_FIRST + 1; begin SendMessage(edt.Handle,EM_SETCUEBANNER,0, LParam(PWideChar(WideString(cueText)))); end; I want the same effect on a TMemo, but the MSDN document says: You cannot set a cue banner on a multiline edit control or on a rich edit control. Is there a standard way to have a cuetext effect on a TMemo, or do I have to fiddle with the OnEnter/OnExit events and roll my own?

  • WinApi equivalent of .NET KeyPreview

    - by user146780
In .Net there is a feature called KeyPreview. How can I do this in WinApi. Maybe I don't necessarily need this but my hWnd has WM_KEYDOWN, but it does not receive it when my Text Box has focus. How can I achieve this? Thanks *Using pure Win32API... is there an alternative, how could I handle the Text Box's WM_KEYDOWN?

  • Doxygen - <X>:1: warning: return type of member X is not documented

    - by Matt Clarkson
    /*! \var GLOBAL_VAR * \brief This is my global initialisation array for MY_STRUCT */ MY_STRUCT GLOBAL_VAR = { 1, 3, 2, 1, }; I get the following error: <GLOBAL_VAR>:1: warning: return type of member GLOBAL_VAR is not documented But this shouldn't have any return type?! If I do either of the following the warning goes away: /*! \var GLOBAL_VAR * \brief This is my global initialisation array for MY_STRUCT * \returns */ MY_STRUCT GLOBAL_VAR = { 1, 3, 2, 1, }; Or: /*! \var GLOBAL_VAR * \brief This is my global initialisation array for MY_STRUCT */ MY_STRUCT GLOBAL_VAR = 3; The isn't very useful as it puts a "Returns" into my HTML documentation and the second one breaks my code! How do I remove this warning? Thanks Matt

  • Decoding equivalent assembly code of C code...

    - by puffadder
Hi All, Wanting to see the output of the compiler (in assembly) for some C code, I wrote a simple program in C and generated its assembly file using gcc. The code is this: #include <stdio.h> int main() { int i = 0; if ( i == 0 ) { printf("testing\n"); } return 0; } The generated assembly for it is here (only the main function): _main: pushl %ebpz movl %esp, %ebp subl $24, %esp andl $-16, %esp movl $0, %eax addl $15, %eax addl $15, %eax shrl $4, %eax sall $4, %eax movl %eax, -8(%ebp) movl -8(%ebp), %eax call __alloca call ___main movl $0, -4(%ebp) cmpl $0, -4(%ebp) jne L2 movl $LC0, (%esp) call _printf L2: movl $0, %eax leave ret I am at an absolute loss to correlate the C code and assembly code. All that the code has to do is store 0 in a register and compare it with a constant 0 and take suitable action. But what is going on in the assembly ? Thanks in advance.

  • RijndaelManaged Padding when data matches block size

    - by trampster
If I use PKCS7 padding in RijndaelManaged with 16 bytes of data then I get 32 bytes of data output. It appears that for PKCS7 when the data size matches the block size it adds a whole extra block of data. If I use Zeros padding for 16 bytes of data I get out 16 bytes of data. So for Zeros padding if the data matches the block size then it doesn't pad. I have searched through the documentation and it says nothing about this difference in padding behavior. Can someone please point me to some kind of documentation which specifies what the padding behavior should be for the different padding modes when the data size matches the block size.

  • <input type="image"> doesnt seem to be posting.

    - by Derek Adair
    I can't figure out why... This works: <?php if($_POST['test']) echo "posted"; ?> <form method="POST" action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; ?>"> <input type="submit" name="test" /> </form> and this doesn't: <?php if($_POST['test']) echo "posted"; ?> <form method="POST" action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; ?>"> <input type="image" name="test" src="images/button.submit.png" /> </form>

  • mediawiki markup equivalent of WMD editor?

    - by Justin Grant
Anyone have a recommendation for an editor like the WMD editor, but using MediaWiki markup instead of Markdown? Our site is already using MediaWiki markup but we want a slicker editor without changing markup completely. Requirements include: live preview of formatted text underneath the markup you're typing a toolbar for common formatting (bold, italic, links, bullets, numbered-list, code, etc) keyboard shortcuts for each toolbar button (e.g. CTRL+B for bold) Undo/redo via keyboard shortcuts (CTRL+Z/CTRL+Y) or toolbar buttons works well in the usual set of popular browsers (including IE6!) open-source would be preferred

  • C# - Convert Implict Type to ObservableCollection

    - by user70192
Hello, I have a LINQ statement that returns an implicit type. I need to get this type to be an ObservableCollection in my Silverlight 3 application. The ObservableCollection constructor in Silverlight 3 only provides an empty constructor. Because of this, I cannot directly convert my results to an ObservableCollection. Here is my code: ObservableCollection<MyTasks> visibleTasks = e.Result; var filteredResults = from visibleTask in visibleTasks select visibleTask; filteredResults = filteredResults.Where(p => p.DueDate == DateTime.Today); visibleTasks = filteredResults.ToList(); // This throws a compile time error How can I go from an implicitly typed variable to an observable collection? Thank you

  • LINQ - Contains with anonymous type

    - by Marlos
When using this code (simplified for asking): var rows1 = (from t1 in db.TABLE1 where (t1.COLUMN_A == 1) select new { t1.COLUMN_B, t1.COLUMN_C }); var rows2 = (from t2 in db.TABLE2 where (rows1.Contains(t2.COLUMN_A)) select t2; I got the following error: The type arguments for method 'System.Linq.Enumerable.Contains(System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable, TSource)' cannot be inferred from the usage. Try specifying the type arguments explicitly. I need to filter the first result by COLUMN_B, but I don't know how. Is there a way to filter it?

  • Using SalesForce's Web Service to create and set the type of a Task

    - by Alan Williamson
I am successfully creating a Task using the SalesForce API SOAP API through Java. However, my problem is that I can't seem to set the Type of it. They all default to "Call" but I really want them to be "Email". Can someone point me in the direction of where I can do this? I think it is to do with RecordTypeMapping, but i am somewhat confused as to how to use this in my Java code to look up the particular one for Task type. I feel I have got so close with this. I have the correct WSDL that is giving me the extra method on the Task.java class, but no matter what I pass in, it dies. This doesn't seem to be a huge ask, yet i am perplexed as to which dots to join to get it to work Any help would be appreciated. thanks

  • is there a z-index equivalent for frames?

    - by Matt
Hey, Here's my problem: I have two frames, one on top of the other. The top one contains the menu and the drop-down part of the menu gets covered by the lower frame. How would I go about fixing this? Side question: should I use frames or iframes? Thanks in advance, Matt

  • Caching Authentication Data

    - by PartlyCloudy
Hi, I'm currently implementing a REST web service using CouchDB and RESTlet. The RESTlet layer is mainly for authentication and some minor filtering of the JSON data served by CouchDB: Clients <= HTTP = [ RESTlet <= HTTP = CouchDB ] I'm using CouchDB also to store user login data, because I don't want to add an additional database server for that purpose. Thus, each request to my service causes two CouchDB requests conducted by RESTlet (auth data + "real" request). In order to keep the service as efficent as possible, I want to reduce the number of requests, in this case redundant requests for login data. My idea now is to provide a cache (i.e.LRU-Cache via LinkedHashMap) within my RESTlet application that caches login data, because HTTP caching will probabily not be enough. But how do I invalidate the cache data, once a user changes the password, for instance. Thanks to REST, the application might run on several servers in parallel, and I don't want to create a central instance just to cache login data. Currently, I save requested auth data in the cache and try to auth new requests by using them. If a authentication fails or there is now entry available, I'll dispatch a GET request to my CouchDB storage in order to obtain the actual auth data. So in a worst case, users that have changed their data will perhaps still be able to login with their old credentials. How can I deal with that? Or what is a good strategy to keep the cache(s) up-to-date in general? Thanks in advance.

  • Compile time float packing/punning

    - by detly
I'm writing C for the PIC32MX, compiled with Microchip's PIC32 C compiler (based on GCC 3.4). My problem is this: I have some reprogrammable numeric data that is stored either on EEPROM or in the program flash of the chip. This means that when I want to store a float, I have to do some type punning: typedef union { int intval; float floatval; } IntFloat; unsigned int float_as_int(float fval) { IntFloat intf; intf.floatval = fval; return intf.intval; } // Stores an int of data in whatever storage we're using void StoreInt(unsigned int data, unsigned int address); void StoreFPVal(float data, unsigned int address) { StoreInt(float_as_int(data), address); } I also include default values as an array of compile time constants. For (unsigned) integer values this is trivial, I just use the integer literal. For floats, though, I have to use this Python snippet to convert them to their word representation to include them in the array: import struct hex(struct.unpack("I", struct.pack("f", float_value))[0]) ...and so my array of defaults has these indecipherable values like: const unsigned int DEFAULTS[] = { 0x00000001, // Some default integer value, 1 0x3C83126F, // Some default float value, 0.005 } (These actually take the form of X macro constructs, but that doesn't make a difference here.) Commenting is nice, but is there a better way? It's be great to be able to do something like: const unsigned int DEFAULTS[] = { 0x00000001, // Some default integer value, 1 COMPILE_TIME_CONVERT(0.005), // Some default float value, 0.005 } ...but I'm completely at a loss, and I don't even know if such a thing is possible. Notes Obviously "no, it isn't possible" is an acceptable answer if true. I'm not overly concerned about portability, so implementation defined behaviour is fine, undefined behaviour is not (I have the IDB appendix sitting in front of me). As fas as I'm aware, this needs to be a compile time conversion, since DEFAULTS is in the global scope. Please correct me if I'm wrong about this.

  • Drupal - editing tab options for a content type not showing up

    - by easement
I'm working on a D5 site and a lot of the content types have the menus at the top of the edit page. Examples: Overview | Grants | Dev load | Dev render | Edit | Revisions | Track | Workflow Overview | Dev load | Dev render | Edit | Revisions | Track | Workflow | Node queue | RelatedContent I'm not sure where these tabs come from, but I need to enable the menu for a content type that doesn't have them visible. I checked the workflow setting and the content type in question was specified to use workflow. So there should be at least another tab in addition to edit. The end goal is to have revisions show up in the menu, but I need to get the menu showing first. Any ideas where to start looking?
