  • Tomcat Application Generating too many logs

    Hi, I have an application which runs on tomcat 6.0.20 server on linux ubuntu server. It generates a huge amount of logs in the catalina.out folder, most of these are generated while using the application, but are not generated by the application.     My project contains 2 source folder, one is generic J2EE application another is smartCleintGWT, I want to use some already existing DTO classes from first source folder (src) Note that class used on client side and on server side of GWT project! When I do that I getting error [ERROR] Errors in 'file:/C:/..Projects/Admin/DMX/src_console/com/ho/nod/client/AdminRPC.java' [ERROR] Line 7: No source code is available for type com.dmx.synch.server.descriptors.DMXLicense; did you forget to inherit a required module? Source is available obviously; is there any way to import all that into GWT? PS In the future 2 source folder will be separated into 2 projects...I hope it wont be that complicated as well.

  • Unable to reverse seemingly simple rails migration - getting "altered_table.column may not be NULL"

    I have a table 'invoices' in my development database (sqlite3) populated with a small amount of test data. I wanted to add a column 'invoice_number' to it and set up a migration like so: class AddInvoiceNumberColumnToInvoices < ActiveRecord::Migration def self.up add_column :invoices, :invoice_number, :integer end def self.down remove_column :invoices, :invoice_number end end I ran rake db:migrate and it seemed to migrate just fine. However, when I tried to access this column through ActiveRecord it didn't seem to be there. I decided to undo this migration and try again (not sure what I was going to try but I thought I'd start by undoing it) with rake db:migrate VERSION='whatever_the_migration_before_this_one_was_called'. This failed with the error message == AddInvoiceNumberColumnToInvoices: reverting =============================== -- remove_column(:invoices, :invoice_number) rake aborted! An error has occurred, this and all later migrations canceled: altered_invoices.invoice_number may not be NULL I can't find any documentation of this error. Is anyone able to explain what I have done wrong, and more importantly how I can fix this?

    Hi guys I'm working with Zend framework and just hate the fact that I seem to encounter hundreds of exception errors like if I try to reference a non existant property of an object my application just dies and crashes. However I have no idea where to see these errors or how to be able to display them on screen. I've set display errors to true and error reporting to E_ALL but when an error is thrown all I see is a blank page rendered only until a bit before where the error apparently occurred or the exception was thrown. Help please my debugging hours are dragging

  • How to collect the new "Applications and Services Logs" found on Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 us

    In Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7 there are new Events categorized under "Applications and Services Logs". There is also a subfolder called Microsoft which has tons of subfolders as well. Is there any way to collect these events through WMI? For the regular "Windows Logs" such as Application and Security, it is possible to use the Win32_NTLogEvent WMI class in the cimv2 namespace. However, this class does not provide access to the new Microsoft event logs. Any ideas?

    Hello, I am trying to learn python and am making a program that will output a script. I want to use os.path.join but am pretty confused (I know I am very bad at scripting/programming) See, according to the docs ( http://docs.python.org/library/os.path.html ) if I say os.path.join('c:', 'sourcedir') I get C:sourcedir as it's output. According to the docs, this is normal (right?) But when I use the copytree command, Python will output it the desired way, for example import shutil src = os.path.join('c:', 'src') dst = os.path.join('c':', 'dst') shutil.copytree(src, dst) Here is the error code I get WindowsError: [Error 3] The system cannot find the path specified: 'C:src/.' If I wrap the os.path.join with os.path.normpath I get the same error If this os.path.join can't be used this way, then I am confused as to its purpose According to the pages suggested by Stack Overflow, slashes should not be used in join--that is correct I assume?     What are the best strategies for finding that missing semicolon that's causing the error? Are there automated tools that might help. I'm currently using Visual Studio 2008, but general strategies for any environment would be interesting and more broadly useful. Background: Presently I have a particularly elusive missing semicolon (or brace) in a C++ program that is causing a C2143 error. My header file dependencies are fairly straightforward, but still I can't seem to find the problem. Rather than post my code and play Where's Wally (or Waldo, depending on where you're from) I thought it would be more useful to get some good strategies that can be applied in this and similar situations. As a side-question: the C2143 error is showing up in the first line of the first method declaration (i.e. the method's return type) in a .cpp file that includes only its associated .h file. Would anything other than semicolons or braces lead to this behaviour?

  • Why isn't an exception thrown when the right .NET framework version is not present?

    We have a .NET application which targets .NET 3.5. Our clients run it from a shared drive (very infrequently) in order to have a central config file location. We have noticed that if a workstation accesses the shared drive and runs the program, but does not have .NET 3.5 installed, nothing happens, no error, no exception, no log entry, it just doesn't launch. Why is there no error message shown in windows by the CLR? Is there something I can put at the beginning of the code that would ensure that a proper error message is displayed? It is not an option to run an installer that would check for prereqs, as we are only installing it in one central location. Thanks.

  • How can I draw a log-normalized imshow plot with a colorbar representing the raw data in matplotlib

    I'm using matplotlib to plot log-normalized images but I would like the original raw image data to be represented in the colorbar rather than the [0-1] interval.     I posted this on SuperUser...but I was hoping the pros here at SO might have a good idea about how to fix this as well.... Normally we develop in VS 2005 Pro, but I wanted to give VS 2010 a spin. We have custom build tools based off of GNU make tools that are called when creating an executable. This is the error that I see whenever I call my external tool: ...\gnu\make.exe): * couldn't commit memory for cygwin heap, Win32 error 487 The caveat is that it still works perfectly fine in VS2005, as well as being called straight from the command line. Also, my external tool is setup exactly the same as in VS 2005. Is there some setting somewhere that could cause this error to be thrown?

    I'm sure someone can explain this. we have an application that has been in production for an year. recently we saw an increase in number of support requests for people having difficulty signing into the system. after scratching our head because we couldn't recreate the problem in development, we decided we'll switch on debug logger in production for a month. that was june 5th. application worked fine with the above change and we were waiting. then yesterday we noticed that the log files were getting huge so we made another change in production config.logger = Logger.new("#{RAILS_ROOT}/log/production.log", 50, 1048576) after this change, the application started crashing while processing a particular file. this particular line of code was RAILS_DEFAULT_LOGGER.info "Payment Information Request: ", request.inspect as you can see there was a comma instead of a plus sign. this piece of code was introduced in Mar. the question is this: why did the application fail now? if changing the debug level caused the application to process this line of code it should have started failing on june 5th! why today. please someone help us. Are we missing the obvious here? if you dont have an answer, at least let us know we aren't the only one that are bonkers.

    I'm writing quite a bit of code in Prototype.js which returns null if a DOM-id wasn't found. $("someId").show(); If someId doesn't exist, a method will be called on null, which halts the entire program, in effect disabling all JS effects after the error. I could just check for null before executing such a statement, but this is getting tiring. I would like to catch an exception but I'm not sure which one its is. MDC lists the following ECMA Script error types: * Error * EvalError * RangeError * ReferenceError * SyntaxError * TypeError * URIError * DOMException * EventException * RangeException Also, do browsers have a unified way of dealing with a method call on null?

    Hello i have the following error: malloc: * error for object 0x2087000: pointer being freed was not allocated * set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug I have no idea what object that is. I don't know how to find it. Can anybody explain to me how (and where) to use malloc_history. I have set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break but i couldn't find out what object is at that address. I receive this after removing an object from an nsmutablearray and popping a view controller manually.     So I'm having a very strange error right now.     I have a VB6 program which I've been maintaining for ten years. There is a subroutine in the program called "Prepare Copy", which looks like this: Public Sub PrepareCopy() Set CopiedShapes = New Collection End Sub Where CopiedShapes is dimmed out as a VB6 Collection. That code is now kicking out a Runtime Error 5 -- Invalid Procedure Call or Argument. It appears from the interstitial debugging code that the error arises between the Public Sub PrepareCopy() and the Set CopiedShapes = New Collection lines. That's right. The VB6 error is happening between two lines of my code. I can think of no other explanation for this. It's behaving this way on my development machine and two client computers. It is only happening in runtime code, and does not appear to make a difference whether I compile it or use P-Code What I'm asking for here is speculation as to what causes this sort of thing to happen.
