    I am hoping someone could enlighten me as to why I am getting the annoying - "xml object reference not set to an instance .." error. The elements (nodes?) I am looking for seem to exist and I have not misspelled it either :[ I might be doing something stupid here, but any help at all would be greatly appreciated. The size of the button (which only contains an Image) is fixed, but I can't get the textbox to fill the available width of its parent.     I have an application which I'm adding pictures and these are automatically converted to binary and stored in a single file. how can I save several images, I keep in an XML file start and size of each set of refente to an image byte. But it has several images in bytes, whenever I try to select a different set of bytes just opening the same image. I would like your help to be able to fix this and open different images.   • What should I use to replace the WinAPI Beep() function?

    I've got a Visual C++/CLI app which uses beeps to signify good and bad results (used when the user can't see the screen). Currently I use low pitched beeps for bad results and high pitched beeps for good results: if( goodResult == true ) { Beep(1000, 40); } else { Beep(2000, 20); } This works okay on my Vista laptop, but I've tried it on other laptops and some seem to play the sounds for less time (they sound more like clicks than beeps) or the sound doesn't play at all. So I have two questions here: Is there a more reliable beep function? Is there a (simple) way I can play a short .wav file or something similar instead (preferred solution).

  • XAML Multi-Level Binding Source/Path Issue

    So I have this issue I've been trying various ways to tackle all day and nothing's catching and working for it. Basically I have a XAML object called ChromeWindow (derived from Window) which has in it's code-behind a DependencyProperty called AppChrome which stores a reference to an associated ApplicationChrome XAML object (derived from UserControl). ApplicationChrome's XAML file has a few x:Name'd objects (a TextBlock and Border for instance) to which I want to bind to from the ChromeWindow's XAML. The root of the ChromeWindow is x:Name'd as 'rootWindow' in the XAML, so I figured one of these bindings would work: {Binding ElementName=rootWindow, Path=AppChrome.CaptionTextBlock.Text, Mode=OneWay} But that complains of a BindingExpression path error such that the property 'CaptionTextBlock' (an x:Name'd TextBlock in AppChrome's XAML) cannot be found on object of type ApplicationChrome So I tried this binding intead: {Binding Source=AppChrome.CaptionTextBlock, Path=Text, Mode=OneWay} And still no luck, this time complaints of a BindingExpression path error again, but this time that it cannot find the 'CaptionTextBlock' property on object of type String I know I'm missing something really simple here, please help! ;D

  • How can I get my UserControl to look like a ComboBox?

    I have a user control containing a TextBox, ToggleButton and Popup, just like the real ComboBox. Now my problem is to style it so that it looks just like the normal ComboBox. In Blend, I can "Edit Template/Edit a Copy..." of a real ComboBox to get the bits and pieces I need to get it to look right. For one Windows theme (Aero). If the application is run on another theme (e.g Luna), the control does not change its look, it still has the Aero look. Do I have to supply a style/template for each Windows theme, or can I somehow get hold of (at run-time) the default ComboBox style and apply it to my UserControl? Instead of making a UserControl, I have tried modifying a real ComboBox to my needs, but I just couldn't get it to work. How can I replace ALL the logic of a ComboBox with my own?

Now I could go on and write notifiaction events but I was wondering if there is a smarter way to do it -i.e. simply define the sources as the Items of each Item FatherClass posses

  • Setting a DataGrid background color based on the previous row

    I'm trying to setup a grid where I do column sorting, but I wanted to do zebra striping, only rather than every other row or every x rows, I want it to be based on the value of cells. i.e. All cells that contain 0 have a blue background, the next value would have a white background, the next value would be blue, etc.... The problem I have is that I can't seem to find where to actually do the setting of the background colors. I'm using a custom sorter and I tried setting it in there after I re-order the list and set the data source, but it appears that when the data source is set, that the rows don't exist yet. I tried using the DataContextChanged, but that event doesn't seem to be firing.     One column in DataGrid looks like that: <DataTemplate> <StackPanel> <Image MouseDown="OpenWindow" /> <Image MouseDown="func2"/> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> In OpenWindow window is opened: it starts opening in foreground (in front of the window with DataGrid), but when creating UI ends it is placed behind window with DataGrid, which is not expected behavior. When I changed Image to Button and MouseDown to Click everything works as it should (opened window is placed in front of the one with DataGrid).

  • Emailing a fixed document through Outlook

    I've added functionality to an application that prints out a bunch of information to a FixedDOcument and sends this off to the printer. This works just fine, however the request is that there be an in application function that emails the document using OUtlook and its here that I come unstuck. I'd very much like to just reuse the class that makes the fixed document for printing to generate the text for email, but I'm struggling to do this. I've tried the following... Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application oApp = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application(); MailItem email = (MailItem)(oApp.CreateItem(OlItemType.olMailItem)); email.Recipients.Add("[email protected]"); email.Subject = "Hello"; email.Body = "TEST"; FixedDocument doc = CreateReport(); //make my fixed document //this doesn't work, and the parameters it takes suggest it never will email.Attachments.Add(doc, OlAttachmentType.olByValue, 1, null); email.Send(); I can't help but think I'm on completely the wrong tack here, but I don't really want to have to write a bunch of new text formatting (since email.Body only takes a string) when I've already got the content formatted how I want it. Note that the content is all textual, so I don't really care if it gets sent as an attachment or as text in the emails body. Ideally if its sent as an attachment it won't be saved anywhere permanently. Any pointers?
