  • Chrome tabs showing wrong page

    I have a problem with Google Chrome where occasionally when switching to a newly created tab (usually one made from opening a link into a new tab), the wrong page shows. The correct page is functional, links and other functions are present, but I cannot see them because Chrome seems to be reading the page I want but showing another. Sometimes it is identical to the tab I just left, sometimes it shows the content of a previously closed tab. The problem sorts out when I switch to another tab and back, and then the correct page shows. This happens fairly often and is rather annoying. Some of my friends have also experienced this, and have stopped using Chrome because of it. If anybody else has seen this problem and happens to know a fix, I'd really appreciate it.

  • Hp pavilion dv7 power button

    My power button is non responsive I am getting LED for charging. I've taken it apart before to change the dc jack and it was fine and a few months later it just powered off. I try to power back on and is goes to start up then shuts off. I just took it apart and came to find the ribbon cable connecting the power button/speakers cover is barely hanging on do I have to replace the whole thing or is there a way to replace the ribbon cable?

  • Should I worry about making my picasa web albums public?

    I choose the public option for all my albums in Picasaweb, these mostly (90%) contain pictures of my children which I share with my family. Ever so often somebody I don't know adds me as a favorite, at current count I have 7 people in my fan list (non of whom I know) and only three of them have any public albums. Is this creepy? I take care not to upload any pictures that may attract perverts What would you recommend, private by default or continue with public?

    I'm going through the https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/RAID guide in here, but I'm stuck on Partition Tables. Since my drives are 3TB, fdisk and cfdisk won't cut it due to their 2GB limit, but they are straight forward when managing partitions - adding da or fd as types. But, there is not that straight forward guide for RAID partition setup with parted. So, how do I make Non-FS or RAID partition with parted?

    People who use OpenDNS and go to a non-existing domain are getting a nice fancy search page telling them that the domain doesn't exists instead of the browser error page. here in my home network we have a win 2008-r2 server with the dns role enabled. Is there any way to make my own fancy looking error page to show up at all computers when they enter a domain not found by the local dns server and the Forwarders / root hints servers? -- David,

  • AD password not synchronising properly

    I have 600+ users in AD, but only one causes me trouble. The problem is I can reset his password from AD, he can then log in to his machine. After that he would like to change his password from Windows 7, and proceeds without errors. Logs out or locks the workstation but cannot access it again using either old or new password. So I have to reset it again and he can only use the one I provide for him. All our machines are in the same physical location in the same subnet. Functional level is 2003. I'm totally out of ideas. I could create him new user account, but I'd possibly like to know what causes this. I can only suspect some sort of synchronisation problems but other accounts work fine, and I don't know how to dig deeper into this. Thanks, Piotr

  • How to remove folder from Explorer's jump list

    I'm using Windows 7 and Windows Explorer some folders were added to the taskbar jump list (under the Frequent section) that no longer exist. When I try to remove those folders from the jump list (using context menu's "Remove from this list" option) nothing happens and the folders are still shown. When I try to access those non-existing folders windows prompts that selected item is not available and asks whether I want to remove it from the list. Regardless if I select "Yes" or "No" the folder still remains in the list.

    I am using http://www.pnotepad.org/ (i wouldnt mind switching to something else if it lightweight and has most/all features i like which i'll check on a app by app basis) When i create a new tab/file and save it unless i write .txt i get a file with no extention. Which makes it hard to open since i cant double click it (i dont think i can tell win7 to set a default app for files with no extension) How do i make pnotepad save with a .txt when non are specified?

    We're using Microsoft Outlook 2003/2007 with NON-EXHCANGE mailboxes, stored in PST files. Is there a way to quickly add a large number of senders from the inbox to the users contact list? I was thinking to export all the senders from the inbox in the PST file to a list and then so use scripting to add them all to the contact list, or perhaps arrange in CSV and import. Any advice is highly appreciated.

    I've checked "Don't use the index when searching in file folders for system files", but I don't see a way to tell Windows 7 that I'm looking for a system file. What does this option actually do, and how do I use it to search every file name on the drive for a specified character string? I intend to search file names in an indexed folder that contains non-indexed subfolders and "system" file types, and this option seems to have no effect on the skipping of those subfolders and file types.

  • Sendmail yields "user unkown" errors even after (wrongly) setting up a catch-all account

    I was trying to follow the instructions found here to set up a catch-all account, but still I get the following message for mails sent to non-existent users: The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.1.1 [email protected]... User unknown (state 14). Everything else works, though... /etc/mail/local-host-names and /etc/mail/virtusertable were set up as instructed. Any advice? Thanks!

To be precise, it needs to be an entirely random set of participants. To do this I am going on the assumption that whatever a potential viewer sees when he visits this particular domain he will be COMPELLED to go further.     I'm trying to delete remote duplicate files without transferring the non-existing files, and without updating the existing files. If I specify both --existing and --ignore-existing (along with "-av --remove-source-files", the operation is a no-op and nothing will be transfered, but nothing will be deleted either. The best I got so far is to make a local copy of destination, use rsync without --ignore-existing, then rsync my local copy on top of the destination

    user user197015 asked on 1th of November the following question: "We have a RAID 6 array (Infortrend EonStor DS S16F) that recently had two disks fail. Immediately prior to replacing these two disks, a third, good, disk was accidentally ejected from the array. After reinserting this disk it is marked as "exiled" by the array's firmware, and so even after replacing the two failed disks with new ones the array refuses to rebuild the logical volume and remains inaccessible. Since the temporarily-ejected disk is still functional and nothing has been written to the array since it was ejected, it seems that it should theoretically be possible to recover all the data on the array, but how can we convince the array to use the data from the "exiled" disk? Thanks for any help or advice you can offer." Now I've got quite the same problem. The post has been deleted by the user, so I don#t know if he was successful. Is there anybody who can help me?   • How to remove Unicode characters and/or convert OpenOffice spreadsheet cells to plaintext?

    I have an OpenOffice spreadsheet into which I occasionally copy/paste snippets from web pages. However, I need the file, as a whole, to be free of fancy formatting and non-ASCII text. Is tried highlighting cells and selecting "Default Formatting" but this still seems to keep extraneous characters even though it looks like normal text to the human eye. If this is not possible, is there a way to at least reveal the "raw" data within a cell so that I can manually strip it? Thanks, Jeff
