  • Using IoC and Dependency Injection, how do I wrap an existing implementation with a new layer of imp

    - by Dividnedium
    I'm trying to figure out how this would be done in practice, so as not to violate the Open Closed principle. Say I have a class called HttpFileDownloader that has one function that takes a url and downloads a file returning the html as a string. This class implements an IFileDownloader interface which just has the one function. So all over my code I have references to the IFileDownloader interface and I have my IoC container returning an instance of HttpFileDownloader whenever an IFileDownloader is Resolved. Then after some use, it becomes clear that occasionally the server is too busy at the time and an exception is thrown. I decide that to get around this, I'm going to auto-retry 3 times if I get an exception, and wait 5 seconds in between each retry. So I create HttpFileDownloaderRetrier which has one function that uses HttpFileDownloader in a for loop with max 3 loops, and a 5 second wait between each loop. So that I can test the "retry" and "wait" abilities of the HttpFileDownloadRetrier I have the HttpFileDownloader dependency injected by having the HttpFileDownloaderRetrier constructor take an IFileDownloader. So now I want all Resolving of IFileDownloader to return the HttpFileDownloaderRetrier. But if I do that, then HttpFileDownloadRetrier's IFileDownloader dependency will get an instance of itself and not of HttpFileDownloader. So I can see that I could create a new interface for HttpFileDownloader called IFileDownloaderNoRetry, and change HttpFileDownloader to implement that. But that means I'm changing HttpFileDownloader, which violates Open Closed. Or I could implement a new interface for HttpFileDownloaderRetrier called IFileDownloaderRetrier, and then change all my other code to refer to that instead of IFileDownloader. But again, I'm now violating Open Closed in all my other code. So what am I missing here? How do I wrap an existing implementation (downloading) with a new layer of implementation (retrying and waiting) without changing existing code? Here's some code if it helps: public interface IFileDownloader { string Download(string url); } public class HttpFileDownloader : IFileDownloader { public string Download(string url) { //Cut for brevity - downloads file here returns as string return html; } } public class HttpFileDownloaderRetrier : IFileDownloader { IFileDownloader fileDownloader; public HttpFileDownloaderRetrier(IFileDownloader fileDownloader) { this.fileDownloader = fileDownloader; } public string Download(string url) { Exception lastException = null; //try 3 shots of pulling a bad URL. And wait 5 seconds after each failed attempt. for (int i = 0; i < 3; i++) { try { fileDownloader.Download(url); } catch (Exception ex) { lastException = ex; } Utilities.WaitForXSeconds(5); } throw lastException; } }

  • Can DBRefs contain additional fields?

    - by Soviut
    I've encountered several situations when using MongoDB that require the use of DBRefs. However, I'd also like to cache some fields from the referenced document in the DBRef itself. {$ref:'user', $id:'10285102912A', username:'Soviut'} For example, I may want to have the username available even though the user document is referenced. This would provide me all the benefits of a single document approach; Faster querying and eliminating the need to do manual dereferencing in my code. While at the same time allowing me to use references where they make sense. The idea being that when the referenced document is updated (a user changes their name, for example) my business layer can automatically update all the documents that reference it. Ultimately, I'm wondering if it's considered good form to store additional fields on my DBRefs? Will it break anything? Will I lose my data each time a reference is rewritten? Will drivers like pymongo support it?

  • Background Image comes up as white when displayed using Javascript

    - by AndroidNewbie
    I am trying to change the background image whenever the document is loaded, and when it hits this point: document.body.style.backgroundImage="url('../images/mobile-bckground.png')"; The page simply makes the background plain white. It is displayed like this in my javascript: $(function() { document.body.style.backgroundImage="url('../images/mobile-bckground.png')"; }); I have verified the image is in the right location, why is it doing this?

  • Merging multiple Google calendar feeds into one JSON object in javascript

    - by Jeramy
    I am trying to bring in the JSON feeds from multiple Google calendars so that I can sort the upcoming events and display the next X number in an "Upcoming Events" list. I have this working with Yahoo! pipes but I want to get away from using a 3rd party to aggregate. I think I am close, but I cannot get the JSON objects created correctly. I am getting the data into the array but not in JSON format, so I can't manipulate it. I have tried var myJsonString = JSON.stringify(JSONData); using https://github.com/douglascrockford/JSON-js but that just threw errors. I suspect because my variable is in the wrong starting format. I have tried just calling the feed like: $.getJSON(url); and creating a function concant1() to do the JSONData=JSONData.concat(data);, but it doesn't fire and I think it would produce the same end result anyway. I have also tried several other methods of getting the end result I want with varying degrees of doom. Here is the closest I have come so far: var JSONData = new Array(); var urllist = ["https://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/dg61asqgqg4pust2l20obgdl64%40group.calendar.google.com/public/full?orderby=starttime&max-results=3&sortorder=ascending&futureevents=true&ctz=America/New_York&singleevents=true&alt=json&callback=concant1","https://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/5oc3kvp7lnu5rd4krg2skcu2ng%40group.calendar.google.com/public/full?orderby=starttime&max-results=3&sortorder=ascending&futureevents=true&ctz=America/New_York&singleevents=true&alt=json&callback=concant1","http://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/rine4umu96kl6t46v4fartnho8%40group.calendar.google.com/public/full?orderby=starttime&max-results=3&sortorder=ascending&futureevents=true&ctz=America/New_York&singleevents=true&alt=json&callback=concant1"]; urllist.forEach(function addFeed(url){ alert("The URL being used: "+ url); if (void 0 != JSONData){JSONData=JSONData.concat($.getJSON(url));} else{JSONData = $.getJSON(url);} alert("The count from concantonated JSONData: "+JSONData.length); }); document.write("The final count from JSONData: "+JSONData.length+"<p>"); console.log(JSONData) UPDATE: Now with full working source!! :) If anyone would like to make suggestions on how to improve the code's efficiency it would be gratefully accepted. I hope others find this useful.: // GCal MFA - Google Calendar Multiple Feed Aggregator // Useage: GCalMFA(CIDs,n); // Where 'CIDs' is a list of comma seperated Google calendar IDs in the format: [email protected], and 'n' is the number of results to display. // While the contained console.log(); outputs are really handy for testing, you will probably waant to remove them for regular usage // Author: Jeramy Kruser - http://jeramy.kruser.me //onerror=function (d, f, g){alert (d+ "\n"+ f+ "\n");} if (!window.console) {console = {log: function() {}};} document.body.className += ' js-enabled'; // Global variables var urllist = []; var maxResults = 3; // The default is 3 results unless a value is sent var JSONData = {}; var eventCount = 0; var errorLog = ""; JSONData = { count: 0, value : { description: "Aggregates multiple Google calendar feeds into a single sorted list", generator: "StackOverflow communal coding - Thanks for the assist Patrick M", website: "http://jeramy.kruser.me", author: "Jeramy & Kasey Kruser", items: [] }}; // For putting dates from feed into a format that can be read by the Date function for calculating event length. function parse (str) { // validate year as 4 digits, month as 01-12, and day as 01-31 str = str.match (/^(\d{4})(0[1-9]|1[0-2])(0[1-9]|[12]\d|3[01])$/); if (str) { // make a date str[0] = new Date ( + str[1], + str[2] - 1, + str[3]); // check if month stayed the same (ie that day number is valid) if (str[0].getMonth () === + str[2] - 1) { return str[0]; } } return undefined; } //For outputting to HTML function output() { var months, day_in_ms, summary, i, item, eventlink, title, calendar, where,dtstart, dtend, endyear, endmonth, endday, startyear, startmonth, startday, endmonthdayyear, eventlinktitle, startmonthday, length, curtextval, k; // Array of month names from numbers for page display. months = {'0':'January', '1':'February', '2':'March', '3':'April', '4':'May', '5':'June', '6':'July', '7':'August', '8':'September', '9':'October', '10':'November', '11':'December'}; // For use in calculating event length. day_in_ms = 24 * 60 * 60 * 1000; // Instantiate HTML Arrays. summary = []; for (i = 0; i < maxResults; i+=1 ) { //console.log("i: "+i+" < "+"maxResults: "+ maxResults); if (!(JSONData.value.items[i] === undefined)) { item = JSONData.value.items[i]; // Grabbing data for each event in the feed. eventlink = item.link[0]; title = item.title.$t; // Only display the calendar title if there is more than one calendar = ""; if (urllist.length > 1) { calendar = '<br />Calendar: <a href="https://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=' + item.gd$who[0].email + '&ctz=America/New_York">' + item.author[0].name.$t + '<\/a> (<a href="https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/' + item.gd$who[0].email + '/public/basic.ics">iCal<\/a>)'; } // Grabbing event location, if entered. if ( item.gd$where[0].valueString !== "" ) { where = '<br />' + (item.gd$where[0].valueString); } else { where = (""); } // Grabbing start date and putting in form YYYYmmdd. • Using a variable name in XMLHttpRequest

    - by Paul
    Hi All, I am using jQuery and trying to load a variable in place of a named xml file. My Code: $(document).ready(function() { // bind 'myForm' and provide a simple callback function $('#theForm').ajaxForm(function(responseXML2) { var myxml = responseXML2; alert(responseXML2); displayResult(); }); }); function loadXMLDoc(dname) { if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { alert("loading xmlhttprequest"); xhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else { alert("loading activeX"); xhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } alert("bottom load"); xhttp.open("GET",dname,false); xhttp.send(); return xhttp.responseXML; } function displayResult() { alert("setting vars"); alert("displayResult called"); //xml=loadXMLDoc(responseXML2); //tried this and the line below, among others xml=responseXML2; alert("xmlDocLoaded"); xsl=loadXMLDoc("xslt-test.xsl"); alert("XSLloaded"); // code for IE if (window.ActiveXObject) { alert("IE"); ex=xml.transformNode(xsl); document.getElementById("ieiresponse").innerHTML=ex; } // code for Mozilla, Firefox, Opera, etc. else if (document.implementation && document.implementation.createDocument) { alert("notIE"); xsltProcessor=new XSLTProcessor(); xsltProcessor.importStylesheet(xsl); resultDocument = xsltProcessor.transformToFragment(xml,document); document.getElementById("ieiresponse").appendChild(resultDocument); } } In the code above I want to have: //xml=loadXMLDoc(responseXML2); //tried this and the line below, among others xml=responseXML2; instead of a named file: xsl=loadXMLDoc("example.xml"); When I run through the code, it works if I name the file, but when I use the variable, (which does show up in alerts, so is being pulled), it stops the code at the above line (placing the variable as the xml file) Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you in advance.

  • Using a bookmarklet to track a package

    - by user307558
    I'm trying to write a bookmarklet that tracks a package in the mail. First it checks to see if the tracking page is open, if not it opens it in a new tab, and then sets the value of the form to the tracking number. Finally, it submits the form. What I'm so far unable to do is set the value of the form in the case where the bookmarklet opens up a new tab. Here's what I have: javascript: (function(){ var trackingNumber = "/*tracking number*/"; var a = document.forms.trackingForm; if ('http://fedex.com/Tracking' == document.location) { trackingForm.trackNbrs.value = trackingNumber; document.forms.trackingForm.submit(); } else { window.open('http://fedex.com/Tracking'); this.window.onload = function(){ //This seems to be the problem trackingForm.trackNbrs.value = trackingNumber; onload(document.forms.trackingForm.submit()); } } })(); Any ideas?

  • Another IE Issue with AJAX

    - by Nik
    Alright, This code works in every browser except IE (again, to be expected). The code is supposed to refresh based on setInterval, and does so normally in all other browsers except IE, which just doesn't refresh. Can you spot the problem? var nick = document.getElementById("chatnick").value; var sessid = document.getElementById("sessid").value; var room = document.getElementById("roomid").value; function user_read() { $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "methods.php", data: {method: "u", room: room}, dataType: "html", success: function (data, status, xhr) { $("#userwindow").html(data); setTimeout(user_read, 10000); } }); } function ajax_read() { $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "methods.php", data: {method: "r", room: room}, dataType: "html", success: function (data, status, xhr) { $("#chatwindow").html(data); setTimeout(ajax_read, 400); } }); } function submit_msg() { var msg = document.getElementById("chatmsg").value; $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "methods.php", data: {method: "w", room: room, m: msg, n: nick, sessid: sessid}, dataType: "html", success: function (data, status, xhr) { } }); document.getElementById("chatmsg").value = ""; } function keyup(arg1) { if (arg1 == 13) submit_msg(); } setTimeout(function(){ajax_read();}, 400); user_read();

  • In WebKitGtk+, how can I access parameters in an event listener?

    Here is an example in javascript of what I want to do: function handleDragStart(e) { e.dataTransfer.effectAllowed = 'move'; e.dataTransfer.setData('text/plain', 'some data'); } var dragSource = document.querySelector('#dragSource'); dragSource.addEventListener('dragstart', handleDragStart, false, null); But I am having trouble translating this to a GLib-based system. Here is an example in Vala: void on_dragstart(EventTarget event_target) { // How can I access the equivalent of e.dataTransfer? } WebKit.WebView web_view = ... WebKit.DOM.Document document = web_view.get_dom_document(); WebKit.DOM.Element drag_source = document.query_selector('#dragSource'); drag_source.add_event_listener("dragstart", (Callback) on_dragstart, false, null); While I am using Vala, an answer in any language interacting with WebKitGtk+ directly would be helpful.

  • C# Select clause returns system exception instead of relevant object

    - by Kashif
    I am trying to use the select clause to pick out an object which matches a specified name field from a database query as follows: objectQuery = from obj in objectList where obj.Equals(objectName) select obj; In the results view of my query, I get: base {System.SystemException} = {"Boolean Equals(System.Object)"} Where I should be expecting something like a Car, Make, or Model Would someone please explain what I am doing wrong here? The method in question can be seen here: // this function searches the database's table for a single object that matches the 'Name' property with 'objectName' public static T Read<T>(string objectName) where T : IEquatable<T> { using (ISession session = NHibernateHelper.OpenSession()) { IQueryable<T> objectList = session.Query<T>(); // pull (query) all the objects from the table in the database int count = objectList.Count(); // return the number of objects in the table // alternative: int count = makeList.Count<T>(); IQueryable<T> objectQuery = null; // create a reference for our queryable list of objects T foundObject = default(T); // create an object reference for our found object if (count > 0) { // give me all objects that have a name that matches 'objectName' and store them in 'objectQuery' objectQuery = from obj in objectList where obj.Equals(objectName) select obj; // make sure that 'objectQuery' has only one object in it try { foundObject = (T)objectQuery.Single(); } catch { return default(T); } // output some information to the console (output screen) Console.WriteLine("Read Make: " + foundObject.ToString()); } // pass the reference of the found object on to whoever asked for it return foundObject; } } Note that I am using the interface "IQuatable<T>" in my method descriptor. An example of the classes I am trying to pull from the database is: public class Make: IEquatable<Make> { public virtual int Id { get; set; } public virtual string Name { get; set; } public virtual IList<Model> Models { get; set; } public Make() { // this public no-argument constructor is required for NHibernate } public Make(string makeName) { this.Name = makeName; } public override string ToString() { return Name; } // Implementation of IEquatable<T> interface public virtual bool Equals(Make make) { if (this.Id == make.Id) { return true; } else { return false; } } // Implementation of IEquatable<T> interface public virtual bool Equals(String name) { if (this.Name.Equals(name)) { return true; } else { return false; } } } And the interface is described simply as: public interface IEquatable<T> { bool Equals(T obj); }

  • Properly design a code editor application

    - by Hemaulo
    I'm working on personal project which is basically a code editor. Imagine standard File menu with menu items New, Open, Save, Save As, Save All, Close, Close All. I'm stuck with proper design. Currently I have: A Document class which represents a document - code editing control, respective tab in tab bar and various properties such as Caption, Filename, IsModified etc. A Documents class which represents all open documents. Contains methods like New, Open(FileName), ... The problem is that I can't figure out which class / menu command is responsible for which tasks. For example, with File-New menu command is simple - call Documents.New and that's it. But what for File-Open? The Documents.Open method expects filename as a parameter. So before calling this method I need to open an file selection dialog, let user select files and for each file call Documents.Open(FileName). Where is best place for this supporting code, in menu command, rewrite Documents.Open and put it there? The same with Save actions. Which is responsible for saving? Is it Documents class which uses Document.Editor.SaveToFile(FileName) or better create Save method in Document class? Somewhere in the middle also need to ask user if he wants to save current document... I'm stuck. Any ideas? Edited: The programming language is Delphi.

  • Is pdf virus proof? [closed]

    - by Jonathan
    I am creating a secure document portal for a client. One of the things that they are worried about is having someone upload a document with a virus. One solution that might work is to enforce that they only upload pdf files. My question is two fold: Most importantly, is a pdf document virus proof? How can you determine in a *nix environment that a file is a pdf, besides just looking at the extension. Thanks! Jonathan

  • how to check whether some entered InnerText is present in an XML or not and to give an exception?

    - by Damodar
    Hey all, I have written a code in C# - XML which checks whether a value is there or not in a given XML document and prints the value and the particular tag associated with the value. When we enter the Value of the Inner Text it will look for the value in the document and find it. I dont understand what exception to catch when the entered value is not there in the document. I tried doing like this but it is not working. 1. if (inpXMLString != AppChildNode.InnerText) throw new InvalidDataException("The entered value" + " " + inpXMLString + " " + "doesnot exist"); Here : inpXMLstring = entered value; AppChildNode.InnerText = value of the tags searched. 2. catch (System.Xml.XmlException e1) { Console.WriteLine(e1.Message); } this does not give any exception when the entered value is not there in the XML document. Please help me in this regard.

  • Event problems with FF

    - by s4v10r
    Hi all :) Made this sweet little script to auto change fields after input. Works nicely in IE, Chrome and Safari, but not in FF or opera. JS code: function fieldChange(id, e){ var keyID = (window.event) ? event.keyCode : e.keyCode; if (document.getElementById(id).value.length >= 2){ if (keyID >= 48 && keyID <= 57 || keyID >= 96 && keyID <= 105){ switch(id){ case "textf1": document.getElementById("textf2").focus(); break; case "textf2": document.getElementById("textf3").focus(); break; case "textf3": if (document.getElementById(id).value.length >= 4){ document.getElementById("nubPcode").focus(); } break; } } } HTML: <div class="privateOrderSchema"> <input type="text" id="textf1" name="textf1" maxlength="2" size="4" onKeyUp="fieldChange('textf1')"/>- <input type="text" id="textf2" name="textf2" maxlength="2" size="4" onKeyUp="fieldChange('textf2')" />- <input type="text" id="textf3" name="textf3" maxlength="4" size="5" onKeyUp="fieldChange('textf3')" /> </div> <div class="privateOrderSchema"> <input type="text" id="nubPcode" name="nubPcode" size="4" maxlength="4" /> <br /> </div> Does anybody know how to send the "e" var in this scenario? Tnx all :D ur gr8!

  • Trying to work with a multi-value array in LotusScript and sort of stuck

    - by rrumaner
    I have to find a way to store a series of variables - MonthYear (the key) and a counter. The purpose of this is to track the number of documents processed by Month & Year. I was thinking of a list but I am not sure how to save the data so that it is readable and able to be shown in a table at a later date. I thought about using a multi-dimensional array - someArray(1,0 to 1) and ReDim'ing it each time I start a new MonthYear and then save it back to a field on the document but am not sure how that is going to play out. Does anyone have an idea of how I can accomplish this? The first dimension will be the MonthYear (key) and the second will be a counter that is updated every time a new document is processed. The key will be based on a field on the document being processed. How can I make sure I am updating the right key/counter combination? How can I retrieve the existing counter from the field on the document, update the counter and then replace the value? I thought about just adding a new element (ReDim) every time a document is processed and than somehow adding up all the counters for each key and storing that in an array, but that just seems real messy. There has to be a good way to do this. Any and all ideas will be greatly appreciated
