  • Permission denied (maybe missing INTERNET permission) when calling web service

    - by Maxim
    I'm trying to use .net SOAP web service with ksoap2 lib. Example from http://www.vimeo.com/9633556 shows how to do it correct. Below the code from that example. everything shoud work ok, but when I try to do a call inself (httpTransport.call) I get "Permission denied (maybe missing INTERNET permission)" exception. Moreover, I don't see in the Application info window among permissions the internet permission alert. Tried this on emulator and Google phone. Will be very appreciated if somebody could help with it. Thanks. public void CelsiusToFahrenheit() { String SOAP_ACTION = "http://tempuri.org/CelsiusToFahrenheit"; String METHOD_NAME = "CelsiusToFahrenheit"; String NAMESPACE = "http://tempuri.org/"; String URL = "http://www.w3schools.com/webservices/tempconvert.asmx"; SoapObject Request = new SoapObject(NAMESPACE, METHOD_NAME); Request.addProperty("Celsius", "32"); SoapSerializationEnvelope soapEnvelope = new SoapSerializationEnvelope(SoapEnvelope.VER11); soapEnvelope.dotNet = true; soapEnvelope.setOutputSoapObject(Request); AndroidHttpTransport httpTransport = new AndroidHttpTransport(URL); try { httpTransport.call(SOAP_ACTION, soapEnvelope); SoapPrimitive resultString = (SoapPrimitive)soapEnvelope.getResponse(); res = resultString.toString(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } AndroidManifest.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <manifest> <application> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> </application> <user-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"></user-permission> <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="4" />

  • Create Custom Builds of an Xcode Project

    - by macinjosh
    I am going to build a Mac application written in Obj-C with Xcode. For argument's sake let's say it will have 10 optional features. I need a way to enable or disable those features to create custom builds of the application. These builds would be automated (most likely through the Mac OS X Terminal) so I would need a way to state which of these features are enabled/disabled at build time (a configuration file or CLI arguments would be ideal.) So what is the best way to accomplish this? I'm trying to plan this out before I start coding so that there is proper separation in my code base to allow for these features to come and go. Ideally the custom build would only contain compiled code for the features it should have. In other words I don't want to always compile all the features and condition them out at runtime.

  • Why does PuTTYcyg display â instead of hyphen in man pages?

    - by gbacon
    I've been using PuTTYcyg as a Cygwin terminal, but it doesn't render dashes in manual pages correctly. For example, the top of man gcc looks like GCC(1) GNU GCC(1) NAME gcc â GNU project C and C++ compiler SYNOPSIS gcc [âc|âS|âE] [âstd=standard] [âg] [âpg] [âOlevel] [âWwarn...] [âpedantic] [âIdir...] [âLdir...] [âDmacro[=defn]...] [âUmacro] [âfoption...] [âmmachineâoption...] [âo outfile] infile... Changing fonts doesn't help. How can I fix this?

  • Problem inserting android.text.format.Time.toMillis value into SQLite DB on droid

    - by schusselig
    I'm writing an app for Android OS, and I need to store some time values in the SQLite DB. I have been using android.text.format.Time to store the time values in the app, and then inserting the values as millis into the DB as REAL values. On the SDK emulator, everything works perfectly. On the sole phone I've had the opportunity to test my app (so far), my duration code doesn't work as expected. Some relevant code: private static final String DATABASE_CREATE = "create table " + DATABASE_TABLE + " (" + KEY_ROWID + " integer primary key autoincrement, " + KEY_START + " REAL, " + KEY_STOP + " REAL, " + KEY_DUR + " REAL );"; ... private SQLiteDatabase mDb; ContentValues timerValues = new ContentValues(); ... timerValues.put(KEY_START, stime.toMillis(false)); timerValues.put(KEY_STOP, etime.toMillis(false)); timerValues.put(KEY_DURATION, stime.toMillis(false)-etime.toMillis(false)); int result = mDb.insert(DATABASE_TABLE, null, timerValues); I pull this data from two separate functions with slightly different bits of code, both using Time.set(long millis), both giving incorrect results: The start and stop values come back correct, but the duration comes out 17 hours too large. Am I missing something about calculating durations or does this just seem like there's something "special" about this particular droid? I'll have another droid to test on Monday, but any ideas are appreciated.

  • Windows console

    - by b-gen-jack-o-neill
    Hello. Well, I have a simple question, at least I hope its simple. I was interested in win32 console for a while. Our teacher told us, that windows console is just for DOS and real mode emulation purposes. Well, I know it is not true, becouse DOS applications are runned by emulator which only uses console to display output. Another thing I learned is that console is built into Windows since NT. Well. But what I could not find is, how actually are console programs written to use console. I use Visual C++ for programming (well, for learning). So, the only thing I need to do for using console is select console project. I first thought that windows decides wheather it run app in console or tries to run app in window mode. So I created win32 program and tried printf(). Well, I could not compile it. I know that by definition printf() prints text or variables to stdout. I also found that stdout is the console interface for output. But, I could not find what actually stdout is. So, basicly what I want to ask is, where is the difference between console app and win32 app. I thought that windows starts console when it gets command from "console-family" functions. But obvisously it does not, so there must be some code that actually commands windows to create console interface. And the second question is, when the console is created, how does windows recognize which console terminal is used for what app? I mean, what actually is stdout? Is it a area in memory , or some windows routine that is called? Thanks.

  • Pressing back button in ActivityGroup causes it to pause, and then continue shutting down the next t

    - by synic
    Pressing the back button causes onPause to be called, and the app stays paused until it is re-launched by clicking on the icon, at which point, onDestroy gets called, and the main activity continues to shut down. Simple class to demonstrate. Note, as far as I can tell, this only happens on the Nexus One. I can't reproduce it in the emulator or on my Droid. package com.vimtips.testshutdown; import android.app.ActivityGroup; import android.os.Bundle; import android.util.Log; import android.view.KeyEvent; public class MainActivity extends ActivityGroup { private static final String TAG = "MainActivity"; private int counter = 3; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); } public boolean onKeyDown(int keyCode, KeyEvent event) { if(keyCode == KeyEvent.KEYCODE_BACK) { if(counter-- > 0) return true; } return super.onKeyDown(keyCode, event); } @Override public void onPause() { super.onPause(); Log.d(TAG, "onPause called"); } @Override public void onDestroy() { super.onDestroy(); if(isFinishing()) { Log.d(TAG, "Shutting down"); } } } And here's the log: I/ActivityManager( 132): Starting activity: Intent { act=android.intent.action.MAIN cat=[android.intent.category.LAUNCHER] flg=0x10100000 cmp=com.vimtips.testshutdown/.MainActivity } I/ActivityManager( 132): Displayed activity com.vimtips.testshutdown/.MainActivity: 305 ms (total 305 ms) D/MainActivity( 1393): onPause called I/ActivityManager( 132): Displayed activity com.vimtips.testshutdown/.MainActivity: 302 ms (total 302 ms) D/MainActivity( 1393): Shutting down This doesn't appear to happen on a normal Activity, just an Activity group, though looking at Android's sourcecode, I can't figure out why. It's causing some serious problems with my app. Anyone know why this would happen?

  • Android java.lang.VerifyError for private method with annotated argument.

    - by alex2k8
    I have a very simple project that compiles, but can't be started on Emulator. The problem is with this method: private void bar(@Some String a) {} // java.lang.VerifyError The issue can be avoided if annotation removed private void bar(String a) {} // OK or the method visibility changed: void bar(@Some String a) {} // OK public void bar(@Some String a) {} // OK protected void bar(@Some String a) {} // OK Any idea what is wrong with original method? • DDMS plugin not loading GPX files

    - by Craig
    I am unable to load a GPX file in the DDMS eclipse plugin. When specifying a GPX file, no points are added to the emulator control list. I have tried adding KML files as well, generated in Google earth. Is there a way to get these files to work? • Getting GPS data?

Why? I mean even emulator doesn't want to send GPS data - When I click "send" via UI or console, nothing happens...? Thank you.

  • How do I get my ActivityUnitTestCases to sync with the MessageQueue thread and call my Handler?

    - by Ricardo Gladwell
    I'm writing unit tests for a ListActivity in Android that uses a handler to update a ListAdapter. While my activity works in the Android emulator, running the same code in a unit test doesn't update my adapter: calls to sendEmptyMessage do not call handleMessage in my activity's Handler. How do I get my ActivityUnitTestCase to sync with the MessageQueue thread and call my Handler? The code for the Activity is somewhat like this: public class SampleActivity extends ListActivity implements SampleListener { List samples = new ArrayList(); public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.sample_list); listView.setEmptyView(findViewById(R.id.empty)); } private final Handler handler = new Handler() { @Override public void handleMessage(Message msg) { // unit test never reaches here sharesAdapter = new SampleAdapter(SampleActivity.this, samples); setListAdapter(sharesAdapter); } }; public void handleSampleUpdate(SampleEvent event) { samples.add(event.getSample()); handler.sendEmptyMessage(0); } } The code for my unit test is somewhat like this: public class SampleActivityTest extends ActivityUnitTestCase<SampleActivity> { public SampleActivityTest() { super(SampleActivity.class); } @MediumTest public void test() throws Exception { final SampleActivity activity = startActivity(new Intent(Intent.ACTION_MAIN), null, null); final ListView listView = (ListView) activity.findViewById(android.R.id.list); activity.handleSampleUpdate(new SampleEvent(this)); // unit test assert fails on this line: assertTrue(listView.getCount() == 1); } }

  • Overlay only draws between first 2 points in Android

    - by LordSnoutimus
    Hi, I am experiencing an unusual error using ItemizedOverlay in Android. I am creating a GPS tracking device that plots a route between waypoints stored in a database. When I provide the first two sets of longitude and latitude points through the emulator in Eclipse, it draws a red line just how I want it, but if I send another GPS point, it animates to the point, but does not draw a line from the last point. public class MyOverlay extends ItemizedOverlay { // private Projection projection; private Paint linePaint; private Vector points; public MyOverlay(Drawable defaultMarker) { super(defaultMarker); points = new Vector<GeoPoint>(); //set colour, stroke width etc. linePaint = new Paint(); linePaint.setARGB(255, 255, 0, 0); linePaint.setStrokeWidth(3); linePaint.setDither(true); linePaint.setStyle(Style.FILL); linePaint.setAntiAlias(true); linePaint.setStrokeJoin(Paint.Join.ROUND); linePaint.setStrokeCap(Paint.Cap.ROUND); } public void addPoint(GeoPoint point) { points.addElement(point); } public void draw(Canvas canvas, MapView view, boolean shadow) { int size = points.size(); Point lastPoint = new Point(); if(size == 0) return; view.getProjection().toPixels(points.get(0), lastPoint); Point point = new Point(); for(int i = 1; i<size; i++){ view.getProjection().toPixels(points.get(i), point); canvas.drawLine(lastPoint.x, lastPoint.y, point.x, point.y, linePaint); lastPoint = point; } } @Override protected OverlayItem createItem(int arg0) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub return null; } @Override public int size() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub return 0; } }

  • Can I install WhizzyTeX for Emacs on a Mac (is Mac OS X a unix environment)?

    - by Vivi
    I think my question is pretty stupid, but here it goes: I am using Aquamacs, and I want to install the WhizzyTeX mode. The website for WhizzyTeX says that "it is designed for Unix platforms". I read that Mac OS X is unix certified, but does that mean I can install WhizzyTeX on my mac? If yes, can I install and use it with Aquamacs or do I have to use the Emacs running from the terminal? PS: I don't know whether this question should be posted here or on SuperUser, but as Emacs users seem to hang out here more often, this is the place I chose. EDIT: There are some websites saying I can use WhizzyTeX with Carbon Emacs on mac os x, but some places say I cannot (see for example this pdf document, page 27, which says that "* whizzytex: http://cristal.inria.fr/whizzytex/ mode in latex with ocaml good fo linux, should also work in cygwin, doe not work on osx"). So I am really confused...

  • How to send a signal SIGINT from script to script ? BASH

    - by debugger
    I want to trap a signal send from Script-A.sh to Script-B.sh so in Script-A.sh i use the command (Send SIGINT to Script-B.sh) kill -2 $PID_Script-B.sh And in Script-B.sh i catch the signal and call function Clean trap 'Clean' 2 It does not work, instead the Script-B.sh is killed right away without performing the Clean !! What i notice also is that if i want to send SIGINT from terminal to any script that traps it, a ctrl-c will be catched correctly, but not if i specify the signal via the command kill -2 $pid_of_script Any idea about the difference between the two method to send the SIGINT (ctrl-c VS kill -2 $pid_of_script), and how i can send a SIGINT from a script to another ? • Step-by-step execution for Intel AT&T assembler?

    - by Søren Haagerup
    Hello everyone, I'm writing a compiler that converts source code (written in a small imperative programming language) to Intel AT&T 32-bit assembler. I tend to spend a lot of time debugging, because of nasty offset-mistakes etc. in the generated code, and I would like to know if anyone knows of a tool to "walk through" the generated assembler code step-by-step, visualizing what's on the stack etc. I use Ubuntu Linux as my development platform, and I'm comfortable with the terminal -- a GUI-program would be nice though. Does it exist? Or is there a good reason it doesn't (maybe the problem isn't so straightforward..?) If you have good ideas for approaching debugging tasks in assembly code, I'll be glad to hear from you!

    Helo I installed MAMP PRO on my Macbook Pro (10.6) some time ago. Now I would like to use zip functions in php. I found that I must add zip.so to my extension folder and edited php.ini. On my computer I have two different versions of PHP one in MAMP folder and other in user/lib which was pre-installed on my system. Now I wish to compile my zip library for MAMP version. I got zip sources for my version of PHP then in terminal called function /Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/bin/phpize so it uses mamp php version ./configure make then I moved compile zip.so to extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613. When MAMP is launched it returns this error: [11-Apr-2010 16:33:27] PHP Warning: PHP Startup: zip: Unable to initialize module Module compiled with module API=20090626, debug=0, thread-safety=0 PHP compiled with module API=20060613, debug=0, thread-safety=0 These options need to match in Unknown on line 0 Can some body explain to me how to do this the right way.

  • RelativeLayout differences between 1.5 and 2.1

    - by Kilnr
    I've got a ListView with items composed of RelativeLayouts. This is the relevant XML from the list items: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <TextView android:id="@+id/xx" android:gravity="center_vertical" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="center_vertical" android:layout_centerInParent="true" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/title" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_toRightOf="@id/xx" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/tag" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_toRightOf="@id/xx" android:layout_below="@id/title" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/subtitle" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_toRightOf="@id/tag" android:layout_below="@id/title" /> </RelativeLayout> On Android 2.1 (tested on a Nexus One), this shows the desired behavior: On Android 1.5 however (tested on a HTC Hero), it shows up like this: [edit] On 1.6 (emulator), it works as expected as well. The small grey line on the top left is what shows up in the first pic as "xx", so that should be vertically centered. As far as I can see, the XML dictates this, but for some reason, 1.5 ignores it. Why is this? I can't find anything about this difference, and I've been brute forcing any combination of layout_center, center, alignParent*, but to no avail... Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks!

  • qt on Win CE 5.0 crash

    - by Michael
    Good day all, It's the first time I am using Qt on Windows CE and I ran into an issue. Maybe someone can help me with it. I will describe my set up. I am using XP with Visual Studio 2005 an Qt Add-in version 1.1.2. I downloaded Qt source for Windows CE and followed the instructions on these (http://doc.trolltech.com/4.4/install-wince.html) instructions to build the library for CE. I then used the Visual Studio to create a minimal Qt Windows CE Application. The program runs fine in the CE emulator, but once I try to deploy it on the device it crashes with the following message: Load module: qt_ce_3.exe Load module: QtGui4.dll Load module: msvcr80.dll Load module: QtCore4.dll Load module: CEShell.DLL Load module: OLEAUT32.dll Load module: commctrl.dll.0409.MUI Load module: commctrl.dll Load module: aygshell.dll Load module: WS2.dll Load module: WINSOCK.dll Load module: coredll.dll.0409.MUI Load module: ossvcs.dll Load module: ole32.dll Load module: coredll.dll Load module: MMTimer.dll Data Abort: Thread=8fb09a40 Proc=8c4ecea0 'qt_ce_3.exe' AKY=00040001 PC=012a80b0(qtcore4.dll+0x000680b0) RA=012a8168(qtcore4.dll+0x00068168) BVA=676e4574 FSR=000000f5 Unhandled exception at 0x012a80b0 in qt_ce_3.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x676e4574. • The 10.6.3 os x update broke simulated key-presses for Nestopia.

    - by Lou Z.
    The iPhone app that I released is a wireless game controller, it translates touches on the device into key-presses on the networked Mac. This allowed for playing emulator (e.g. Nestopia) games using the iPhone as a controller. Of course, the day that I released it coincided with an os x update. After installing this update, the simulated key-presses no longer work in Nestopia! The crazier thing is, when I go to 'File Open' within Nestopia, I can cycle through the file list by hitting the up-arrow on my iphone controller; i.e. the simulated key-presses work in menu items, but not in the game itself. The code that I use to simulate keys is below. Given the list of changes here, can anyone identify which change would cause this problem? Thanks!! #define UP false #define DOWN true -(void)sendKey:(CGKeyCode)keycode andKeyDirection:(BOOL)keydirection{ CGEventRef eventRef = CGEventCreateKeyboardEvent(NULL, keycode, keydirection); CGEventPost(kCGSessionEventTap, eventRef); CFRelease(eventRef); }

    I'm trying to display a list of available sensors but it's like there are not! I was thinking that it was because of the emulator, but i tried it on the phone and the result is the same. private SensorManager mSensorManager; TextView mSensorsTot,mSensorAvailables; ...... public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); // Get the texts fields of the layout and setup to invisible mSensorsTot = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.sensoritot); mSensorAvailables = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.sensoridisponibili); // Get the SensorManager mSensorManager= (SensorManager) getSystemService(SENSOR_SERVICE); // List of Sensors Available List<Sensor> msensorList = mSensorManager.getSensorList(SensorManager.SENSOR_ALL); // Print how may Sensors are there mSensorsTot.setText(msensorList.size()+" "+this.getString(R.string.sensors)+"!"); // Print each Sensor available using sSensList as the String to be printed String sSensList = new String(""); Sensor tmp; int x,i; for (i=0;i<msensorList.size();i++){ tmp = msensorList.get(i); sSensList = " "+sSensList+tmp.getName(); // Add the sensor name to the string of sensors available } // if there are sensors available show the list if (i>0){ sSensList = getString(R.string.sensors)+":"+sSensList; mSensorAvailables.setText(sSensList); } } Thank's Valerio From Italy :)

  • How To Get The Outout of Win32::Process command in perl

    - by rockyurock
    hello all, i am using "use Win32::Process" for my application run as below, it runs fine but i did not get any way to get the output to a .txt file. i used NORMAL_PRIORITY_CLASS rather than CREATE_NEW_CONSOLE to get the output on the same terminal itself but i don't know how to redirect it to a txt file. /rocky !/usr/bin/perl use strict; use warnings; use Win32::Process; Win32::Process::Create(my $ProcessObj, "iperf.exe", "iperf.exe -u -s -p 5001", 0, NORMAL_PRIORITY_CLASS, ".") || die ErrorReport(); my @command_output; push @command_output,$ProcessObj; open FILE, "zz.txt" or die $!; print FILE @command_output; close FILE; sleep 10; $ProcessObj-Kill(0); sub ErrorReport{ print Win32::FormatMessage( Win32::GetLastError() ); }
