To subclass or not to subclass

I have three objects; Action, Issue and Risk. These all contain a nunber of common variables/attributes (for example: Description, title, Due date, Raised by etc.) and some specific fields (risk has probability). The question is: Should I create 3 separate classes Action, Risk and Issue each containing the repeat fields. Create a parent class "Abstract_Item" containing these fields and operations on them and then have Action, Risk and Issue subclass Abstract_Item. This would adhere to DRY principal.

backgroundDisabledColor error when upgrading from Flex3 to FlashBuilder 4

I've upgraded a FlexBuilder3 project to FlashBuilder4, and I am seeing many compilation errors regarding unsupported tag attributes: The style 'backgroundDisabledColor' is only supported by type 'mx.controls.TextInput' with the theme(s) 'halo' Here is the offending mxml element: <mx:TextInput x="245" y="86" id="code1" maxChars="15" change="enableButton(event)" cornerRadius="9" borderStyle="solid" backgroundDisabledColor="#7977b6" /> ...what is the best workaround for this particular error? I was able to easily resolve a similar error with the "backgroundColor" attribute by changing it to "contentBackgroundColor", and was hoping there was a simple workaround for backgroundDisabledColor as well. I realize I can apply a css style, but I'd rather have a simpler solution as there are many many other attribute errors similar to this one.

How to control allowed HTML tags in WMD Editor?

I am trying to some-how set the valid HTML tags and attributes users would be able to use in WMD Editor in my site. For example, I want to forbid the user to directly set the font size, color, typeface and so on, which is trivial to do with the default settings typing something like: <span style="font-size: 45px; color:#FF0000">Some intrusive text here</span>. I think the way to implement this is through the "wmd_options", but I have not found any documentation or reference regarding this, giving the fact that the 'Options demo' seems to be the only public documentation and it does not show how should I do what I have described above. I've send this same question to [email protected] but didn't get any reply. As stackoverflow uses this editor someone reading this or maybe Jeff knows the answer ;) Thanks in advance!

Atomikos with Hibernate will exhaust db connections

I am testing an application (Spring 2.5, Hibernate 3.5.0 Beta, Atomikos 3.6.2, and Postgreql 8.4.2) with the configuration for the DAO listed below. The problem that I see is that the pool of 10 connections with the dataSource gets exhausted after the 10's transaction. I know 'hibernate.connection.release_mode' has no effect unless the session is obtained with openSession rather then using a contextual session. I am wandering if anyone has found a way to instruct atomikos code to release connections after any transaction. What are some examples of code generators you have used? I think it's a cool idea, but I have trouble thinking of things they can do besides make a class based on an object's attributes/database schema (as described in The Pragmatic Programmer). What language did you write them in and what language did they output? Edit: Thanks for the responses so far. What I am really looking for is examples of code generators made from scratch for some certain purpose. I mentioned it in the title, but didn't make it very clear in my question. Get directory contents in date modified order

Is there an method to get the contents of a folder in a particular order? I'd like an array of file attribute dictionaries (or just file names) ordered by date modified. Right now, I'm doing it this way: get an array with the file names get the attributes of each file store the file's path and modified date in a dictionary with the date as a key Next I have to output the dictionary in date order, but I wondered if there's an easier way? If not, is there a code snippet somewhere which will do this for me? Thanks.

OpenGL Motion blur with the accumulation buffer in WxWidgets

Hello, I'm trying to achieve a motion blur effect in my OpenGL application. I read somewhere this solution, using the accumulation buffer: glAccum(GL_MULT, 0.90); glAccum(GL_ACCUM, 0.10); glAccum(GL_RETURN, 1.0); glFlush(); at the end of the render loop. But nothing happens... What am I missing ? Additions after genpfault answer: Indeed I did not asked for an accumulation buffer when I initialized my context. Trying to add AddThis to multiple items through JavaScript

Hi, I am new to XML and am having a small problem in Flash. I have a number of buttons. Each of these buttons need to open up a different URL which is in a xml file (I have added only one button for now (banstead), as I wasn´t sure how to add more). Elmah on MVC website with WordPress/php sub directory

I have created a website using ASP.NET MVC and use ELMAH for error handling, this works perfectly. After setting up a virtual directory on my website under /blog and adding the necessary WordPress php files and mysql db, I get the below error come up. Could not load file or assembly 'Elmah' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. I think this has something to do with the fact that ELMAH is applying itself to all sub-directories. Is there a way that I can tell ELMAH to ignore everything under /blog? Or is there a way to get around this? Thanks in advance.

Regex to find external links from the html file using grep

hello, From past few days I'm trying to develop a regex that fetch all the external links from the web pages given to it using grep. Here is my grep command grep -h -o -e "$\(mailto:\|\(\(ht\|f$tp$s\?$\)\)\://\)\{1\}$.*\?$" "/mnt/websites_folder/folder_to_search" -r now the grep seem to return everything after the external links in that given line Example if an html file contain something like this on same line GoogleYahoo then the given grep command return the following result http://www.google.com">Google</a><p><a href='https://yahoo.com'>Yahoo</a></p> the idea here is that if an html file contain more than one links(`irrespective in a,img etc`) in same line then the regex should fetch only the links and not all content of that line I managed to developed the same in rubular.com the regex is as follow ("|')(\b((ht|f)tps?:\/\/)(.*?)\b)("|') with work with the above input but iam not able to replicate the same in grep can anyone help I can't modify the html file so don't ask me to do that neither I can look for each specific tags and check their attributes to to get external links as it addup processing time and my application doesn't demand that Thank You

Creating excel template 2003 in C# on a machine with both 2003 and 2007 installed.

I have both 2003 and 2007 Excel versions installed on my machine. The current source code uses Office11 (2003) interop assembly Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.dll to create the Excel template. When I create the template and open in Excel 2007, it opens perfectly. Why does MSBuild fail from the command line where VS2008 succeeds?

I have an ASP.NET solution that builds just fine from within VS2008. However , it fails when i do this : MSBUILD.exe c:\path-to-sln It fails with a CS0006 error ("Metadata file 'dll_name' could not be found"). It also fails when I try with a .csproj of a project within the solution. What is VS2008 doing that MSBuild is missing ? It is my understanding that VS knows about inter assembly dependencies that MSBuild cant. Is there any way I can inform MSBuild of these? (I need MSBuild to work from the command line because I am calling it from an MSBuild-Task from within CruiseControl.Net.) Nunit test project won't compile under mono

Question: I am implementing an OpenSource version of Microbosoft Sync framework, [http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...isplaylang=en] (Checkout: git clone [email protected]:quandary/SyncFramework.git) but I ran into a unittest problem. I added a nunit test-project to the C# project, but it's not compiling... I created the project on Windows, and there it compiled well. On Linux, the project compiles well, but compiling the unittest, I always get: Assembly 'nunit.framework, Version=2.5.5.10112, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=96d09 My problem now is I installed nunit and added a reference to it (on Linux with mono), but I still get this message, I take out 'require specific version', and I still get this message... I also removed the windows reference to nunit, but still no change.

What does this rake db:seed error mean?

I've been trying to solve this problem for a couple of hours but I can't seem to understand what's going on. I'm using Rails 3 beta, and want to seed some data to the database. However, when I try to seed some values through db:seed, I get this error: rake aborted! Attribute(#81402440) expected, got Array(#69024170) The seeds.rb is: DataType.delete_all DataType.create( :name => 'String' ) And I got these classes: class DataType < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :attributes end class Attribute < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :data_types end While the migration definition for DataType is merely: class CreateDataTypes < ActiveRecord::Migration def self.up create_table :data_types do |t| t.string :name t.timestamps end end def self.down drop_table :data_types end end Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I want to use a graph database using php. Can you point out some resources on where to get started? Is there any example code / tutorial out there? Or are there any other methods of storing data that relate to each other in totally random/abstract situations? Very abstract example of the relations needed: John relates to Mary, both relate to School, John is Tall, Mary is Short, John has Blue Eyes, Mary has Green Eyes, query I want is which people are related to 'Short people that have Green Eyes and go to School' - answer John It is possible in MySQL but it would require a fixed set of attributes/columns for each item and a complex non-flexible query, instead I need every attribute to be an item by itself and instead of 'belonging' to something, to be 'related' to something.

Graph Algorithm To Find All Paths Between N Arbitrary Vertices

I have an graph with the following attributes: Undirected Not weighted Each vertex has a minimum of 2 and maximum of 6 edges connected to it. Vertex count will be < 100 I'm looking for paths between a random subset of the vertices (at least 2). The paths should simple paths that only go through any vertex once. My end goal is to have a set of routes so that you can start at one of the subset vertices and reach any of the other subset vertices. Its not necessary to pass through all the subset nodes when following a route. All of the algorithms I've found (Dijkstra,Depth first search etc.) seem to be dealing with paths between two vertices and shortest paths. Is there a known algorithm that will give me all the paths (I suppose these are subgraphs) that connect these subset of vertices?

Preserving multi-byte characters in Flex XML object

I'm having an issue with the Flex XML object type mangling multi-byte characters (such as Japanese or Chinese characters). The basic setup is this. I'm getting an XML-formatted string from the server, and in that string there can be multi-byte characters. A lot of the time, these characters are in attributes, for example: <example id="foo" name="[some multi-byte characters]"/> Now, when I examine the raw string, the multi-byte characters display just fine. However, as soon as I convert the string to an XML object using the top-level XML() function, all the multi-byte characters become mangled. I've tried setting the XML's encoding by including an <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> element in the XML-formatted string, but this doesn't seem to have any effect on the resulting XML object. Is there a way to get the XML object to respect the encoding of the XML-formatted string and prevent the multi-byte characters from being mangled?

FileWatcher fires change event after file deletion

Hi all, I'm using a FileWatcher to trigger processing of files as soon as they are added to a folder. After the file it is processed it is deleted. My problem is that after the file is deleted I get another file change event which is so close to the deletion than in some cases checking for File.Exists it tells that the file still exists. But of course some milliseconds later when looking to process the file it does not really exists. The FileWatcher is set to notify on NotifyFilters.FileName | NotifyFilters.LastAccess | NotifyFilters.LastWrite | NotifyFilters.Size | NotifyFilters.Attributes Thanks, florin

change Visibility of a control in ASP.NET code behind (c#)

How do you set the visibility of a (fileupload) control from ASP.net code (I need to hide a fileupload control in a webuser control from server site, otherwise hasFIle is always false). Also setting the "Visible" property to false does not work (as is confuses the AJAX panel so the fileupload forgets that it has a file). theFileUpload.Visible = false = does not work so I want to try to set the CSS style visibility to hidden or display to none. The main problem is I want to do it from the server side (I know how I could do it on client). Is there a safe way to overwrite theFileUpload.Attributes["styles"] in case I modify other CSS styles in there, also throwing a whole CSS class at it (by moidifying the CSSClass property) seems like overkill. thanks in advance Axel
