  • Code Review: CLR RegexSubstring

    Could this be better? .NET 2.0 compatibility for SQL Server 2005: public static SqlString RegexSubstring(SqlString regexpattern, SqlString sourcetext, SqlInt32 start_position) { SqlString result = null; if (!regexpattern.IsNull && !sourcetext.IsNull && !start_position.IsNull) { int start_location = (int)start_position >= 0 ?   • Javascript error in Setting focus to a textbox inside a lightbox(Overlay) window.

    - by Rishabh Ohri
    Hi All, I have a textbox, a button and a "AdvancedSearch" link on my aspx page. On page load, the focus is set to the textbox. On click of the "AdvancedSearch" link, a lightbox(overlay) window will be opened. I want to set focus to a textbox present within this lightbox window. I am using javascript to achieve this. The code looks somewhat like this: if( element.type != "hidden" && element.style.display != "none" && !element.disabled ) { element.focus(); return; } when the lightbox window loads, i get a javascript error - "Can't move focus to the control because it is invisible, not enabled, or of a type that does not accept the focus" Any idea why this error is thrown and why it is not able to set focus to the textbox in the lightbox window? Thanks, Rishab.

  • Linked List. Insert integers in order

    - by user69514
    I have a linked list of integers. When I insert a new Node I need to insert it not at the end, but in oder... i.e. 2, 4, 5, 8, 11, 12, 33, 55, 58, 102, etc. I don't think I am inserting it in the correct position. Do see what Im doing wrong? Node newNode = new Node(someInt); Node current = head; for(int i=0; i<count; i++){ if(current == tail && tail.data < someInt){ tail.next = newNode; } if(current.data < someInt && current.next.data >= someInt){ newNode.next = current.next; current.next = newNode; } }

  • "Address of" (&) an array / address of being ignored be gcc?

    - by dbarbosa
    Hi, I am a teaching assistant of a introductory programming course, and some students made this type of error: char name[20]; scanf("%s",&name); which is not surprising as they are learning... What is surprising is that, besides gcc warning, the code works (at least this part). I have been trying to understand and I wrote the following code: void foo(int *str1, int *str2) { if (str1 == str2) printf("Both pointers are the same\n"); else printf("They are not the same\n"); } int main() { int test[50]; foo(&test, test); if (&test == test) printf("Both pointers are the same\n"); else printf("They are not the same\n"); } Compiling and executing: $ gcc test.c -g test.c: In function ‘main’: test.c:12: warning: passing argument 1 of ‘foo’ from incompatible pointer type test.c:13: warning: comparison of distinct pointer types lacks a cast $ ./a.out Both pointers are the same Both pointers are the same Can anyone explain why they are not different? I suspect it is because I cannot get the address of an array (as I cannot have & &x), but in this case the code should not compile.

  • IE7 (sometimes) not showing website properly

    - by Ra y Mon
    We are a bit desperate... We have launched our website http://www.buscounviaje.com We tested all browsers (IE6-8, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, ...) to make sure everything was OK. However, there are some users (IE7 and IE6) that are complaining that they see everything 'white' with black letters (i.e. CSS styles not being applied). One user said he was getting an "Error 0: Object expected" However, we do not see that error in Firebug, nor on our local installations of IE6&7. Other users with IE6&7 are also visualizing the web correctly. We have no idea where the problem could be, and we cannot test it because our IE6&7 work fine. Anyone sees the web page without styles and give us a hint on where the problem might be? Reasons we can think of... we are compressing js and css and some versions of IE6&7 are not able to decompress them we are trying to use a non-existing object in javascript and some versions of IE6&7 do not like it the cache does not seem to be the problem... we guided a user through emptying his cache and he could still not see the web site correctly.

  • Address of array vs. address of array[0] - C language

    - by user324994
    My question is why does the address of an array differ from the address of its first position? I'm trying to write my own malloc, but to start out I'm just allocating a chunk of memory and playing around with the addresses. My code looks roughly like this: #define BUFF_SIZE 1024 static char *mallocbuff; int main(){ mallocbuff = malloc(BUFF_SIZE); printf("The address of mallocbuff is %d\n", &mallocbuff); printf("The address of mallocbuff[0] is %d\n", &mallocbuff[0]); } &mallocbuff is the same address every time I run it. &mallocbuff[0] is some random address every time. I was expecting the addresses to match each other. Can anyone explain why this isn't the case?

  • How do I understand the 3 lines batch script?

    - by Runner
    ECHO @ECHO OFF ^& (IF EXIST "%%~dp0%~n1.swf" (DEL "%%~dp0%~n1.swf")) ^& %mxmlcPath% %opts% -file-specs "%%~dp0%~nx1" ^& (IF EXIST "%%~dp0%~n1.swf" (CALL "%%~dp0%~n1.swf") ELSE (PAUSE)) > "%~dpn1.bat" REM Immediately execute the generated bat @ECHO on CALL "%~dpn1.bat" It's really a mess for me(like ECHO @ECHO OFF,what's that intended for?), can someone elaborate it?

  • Getting level values from PCM raw data using Core Audio

    - by John
    I am trying to extract level data from a PCM audio file using core audio. I have gotten as far as (I believe) getting the raw data into a byte array (UInt8) but it is 16 bit PCM data and I am having trouble reading the data out. The input is from the iPhone microphone, which I have set as: [recordSetting setValue:[NSNumber numberWithInt:kAudioFormatLinearPCM] forKey:AVFormatIDKey]; [recordSetting setValue:[NSNumber numberWithFloat:44100.0] forKey:AVSampleRateKey]; [recordSetting setValue:[NSNumber numberWithInt:1] forKey:AVNumberOfChannelsKey]; [recordSetting setValue:[NSNumber numberWithInt:16] forKey:AVLinearPCMBitDepthKey]; [recordSetting setValue:[NSNumber numberWithBool:NO] forKey:AVLinearPCMIsBigEndianKey]; [recordSetting setValue:[NSNumber numberWithBool:NO] forKey:AVLinearPCMIsFloatKey]; which is obviously 16 bits. I am then trying to just print out a few values to see if they look reasonable for debug purposes below, and they do not look reasonable (many 0's). ExtAudioFileRef inputFile = NULL; ExtAudioFileOpenURL(track.location, &inputFile); AudioStreamBasicDescription inputFileFormat; UInt32 dataSize = (UInt32)sizeof(inputFileFormat); ExtAudioFileGetProperty(inputFile, kExtAudioFileProperty_FileDataFormat, &dataSize, &inputFileFormat); UInt8 *buffer = malloc(BUFFER_SIZE); AudioBufferList bufferList; bufferList.mNumberBuffers = 1; bufferList.mBuffers[0].mNumberChannels = 1; bufferList.mBuffers[0].mData = buffer; //pointer to buffer of audio data bufferList.mBuffers[0].mDataByteSize = BUFFER_SIZE; //number of bytes in the buffer while(true) { UInt32 frameCount = (bufferList.mBuffers[0].mDataByteSize / inputFileFormat.mBytesPerFrame); // Read a chunk of input OSStatus status = ExtAudioFileRead(inputFile, &frameCount, &bufferList); // If no frames were returned, conversion is finished if(0 == frameCount) break; NSLog(@"---"); int16_t *bufferl = &buffer; for(int i=0;i<100;i++){ //const int16_t *bufferl = bufferl[i]; NSLog(@"%d",bufferl[i]); } } Not sure what I am doing wrong, I think it has to do with reading the byte array. Sorry for the long code post...

  • Const Discards Qualifers: C++

    - by user991673
    I'm using OpenGL to render camera perspectives, and a one point in my code I'm trying to take the direction of the light (shown here as type "Vector4") and multiply it by a matrix of type "Matrix4x4" that represents the Modelview transformation (sorry if this is not making any sense, this is for a school project, as such I'm still learning about this stuff) Anyway, my code goes as follows... Vector4 lightDirection = data->dir * follow->getModelviewMatrix().getInverse().getTranspose(); data->dir = lightDirection; setLight(*data); this give me the following error: passing 'const vec4<double>' as 'this' argument of 'vec4<T>& vec4<T>::operator=(const vec4<T>&)[with T = double]' discards qualifiers Again, much of this code is prewritten for the class (namely the vector and matrix types) but if someone could just help me decipher what the error means it would be much appreciated! I can give more information as needed. I figured 'data' or 'data-dir' were const, however I can find no mention of either of them to be. 'dir' is of type SceneLightData, and when its added on I'm doing this: void Scene::addLight(const SceneLightData &sceneLight) { SceneLightData light = sceneLight; m_lights.push_back(&light); } The error occurs on this line: data->dir = lightDirection; EDIT problem solved. thanks everyone! solution: void Scene::addLight(const SceneLightData &sceneLight) { SceneLightData* light = new SceneLightData; *light = sceneLight; m_lights.push_back(light); } and SceneLightData* data = m_lights[i]; data->dir = data->dir * follow->getModelviewMatrix().getInverse().getTranspose(); setLight(*data);

  • Best way to get a date in .NET?

    - by frenchie
    I'm getting a string back from my page and I want to make sure it's a date. This is what I have so far (it works) and I just want to know if this is the "best" way to do it. I'm using .NET 4. int TheMonth =0; int TheDay = 0; int TheYear = 0; DateTime NewDate; var TheIncomingParam = Request.Params.Get("__EVENTARGUMENT").ToString(); char[] TheBreak = { '/' }; string[] TheOutput = TheIncomingParam.Split(TheBreak); try { TheMonth = Convert.ToInt32(TheOutput[0]); } catch { } try { TheDay = Convert.ToInt32(TheOutput[1]); } catch { } try { TheYear = Convert.ToInt32(TheOutput[2]); } catch { } if (TheMonth!=0 && TheDay!=0 && TheYear!=0) { try { NewDate = new DateTime(TheYear, TheMonth, TheDay); } catch { var NoDate = true; } }

  • Moving from dedicated to shared cpanel - any scripts to do all / some of the install tasks ?

    - by mbbcat
    Hi, I have a few hundred phpld sites to move - each has its own cpanel, ( & the target may have shared cpanel) & I can do a full cpanel backup on the original server, but I don't have whm on the current host - the backups are fairly easy to organize but the installs so far means picking through files & setting up db's & mail etc by hand - I am thinking there ought to be an easier ie scripted way to do the installs or at least some parts - can anyone please suggest something ? I would like to migrate the stats at the same time Thanks M

  • Is dynamic evaluation of xpath variable string possible using .net 2.0 xslt implementation?

    - by Crocked
    Hi, I'm trying to evaluate an xpath varable I'm building dynamically based on the position of the node. I can create the xpath string in a variable but when I select the value of this just get the string and not the node set I need. I use the following to create the xpath <xsl:variable name="xpathstring" select="normalize-space(concat(&quot;//anAttribute[@key='pos&quot;,position(),&quot;']&quot;))"/> and try to output the value with the following. <xsl:value-of select="$xpathstring"/> If I execute the xpath in my debugger I get the nodeset but in my xml output only get the xpath string which looks like this //anAttribute[@key='pos1'] I had a look at exslt dyn:evaluate which seems to enable this but this seems to be only supported by certain processors and doesn't provide a standalone implementation or at least as far as I could see (currently using the standard .net 2.0 xslt whihc is only xslt 1.0 as far as I recall) Is there anyway to handle this without changing processor? Kind Regards, Crocked

  • Freemarker rendering differently on IE8

    - by scphantm
    we have a template that uses this for the record line <input type="${inputType}" name="${variableName}.code" id="${variable}.${vnum}.${answer.code}" class="checkbox" value="${answer.code}" [#nested/] [#if (answer.textLength > 0) && scripting]onchange="showOtherBox( this, '${variable}.[#if descriptionHack]${variableNumber}[#else]${vnum}[/#if].${answer.code}.description' )"[/#if] [#if showValues && (existing == answer.code)]checked="checked"[/#if]/> On IE8 it renders as this <span class="field"> <INPUT id=responses.8.L class=checkbox value=L type=checkbox name="responses['8'].answers['L'].code"> <LABEL for=responses.8.L>Award(s) for special accomplishment or performance related to activity participation (please list)</LABEL> <TEXTAREA id=responses.8.L.description class=" visible" rows=4 cols=60 name="responses['8'].answers['L'].description"></TEXTAREA> </span> and on every other browser we tried, it renders as this <span class="field"> <input type="checkbox" name="responses['8'].answers['L'].code" id="responses.8.L" class="checkbox" value="L" onchange="showOtherBox( this, 'responses.8.L.description' )"> <label for="responses.8.L">Award(s) for special accomplishment or performance related to activity participation (please list)</label> <textarea rows="4" cols="60" name="responses['8'].answers['L'].description" id="responses.8.L.description" class="visible" classname="visible"></textarea> </span> The difference being that in the FTL script, the if statement [#if (answer.textLength > 0) && scripting] is true for everything except IE. In IE8 its false for some reason and therefore it does not put the OnChange javascript event on the input tag. Has anyone seen anything like this before? we are using Freemarker 2.3.9 Update, it kinda works if i turn compatibility mode on for IE8. but not exactly. when i do that, the onchange event doesn't fire until the check box loses focus. which is very different than everything else. Is there a quick way to fix this without too much trouble? i suppose i could put something in that says if ie8, insert onclick instead of onchange. that may work, but i would need an authorization from the client to fix it like that.

  • PHP header() redirect not working after shortening URL using bit.ly

The problem doesn't occur when the bit.ly api is not used in the script, I have no clue why. <?php if (strlen($_GET['url']) > 26) { $shortenedURL = $_GET['url']; if (isset($_GET['login']) && isset($_GET['apikey'])) { $shortenedURL = file_get_contents('http://api.bit.ly/v3/shorten?format=txt&login='.urlencode($_GET['login']).'&apiKey='.$_GET['apikey'].'&uri='.urlencode($_GET['url'])); } else { $shortenedURL = file_get_contents('http://icbrd.net/shorten.php?longurl='.$_GET['url']); } if (strlen($shortenedURL) > 0) { header( 'Location: icebird://compose?status='.$shortenedURL.'%20' ); exit(); } else { header( 'Location: icebird://compose?status='.$_GET['url'].'%20' ); exit(); } } else { header( 'Location: icebird://compose?status='.$_GET['url'].'%20' ); exit(); } ?> I hope you can help me, as this is driving me crazy.   • How to return a const QString reference in case of failure?

  • Converting keys of an array/object-tree to lowercase

    - by tstenner
    Im currently optimizing a PHP application and found one function being called around 10-20k times, so I'd thought I'd start optimization there. function keysToLower($obj) { if(!is_object($obj) && !is_array($obj)) return $obj; foreach($obj as $key=>$element) { $element=keysToLower($element); if(is_object($obj)) { $obj->{strtolower($key)}=$element; if(!ctype_lower($key)) unset($obj->{$key}); } else if(is_array($obj) && ctype_upper($key)) { $obj[strtolower($key)]=$element; unset($obj[$key]); } } return $obj; } Most of the time is spent in recursive calls (which are quite slow in PHP), but I don't see any way to convert it to a loop. What would you do?

  • multi-valued property query in GAE

    - by Tim
    class Person{ @Persistent private List tags = ArrayList() } I want to let the user query a person based on his/her tag, so I had my query filter like this: tags.contains(tagValue1) and if the user want to search for multiple tags, I would just add to the filter so if the user is searching for 3 tags, then the query would be tags.contains(tagValue1) && tags.contains(tagValue2) && tags.contains(tagValue3) I think this approach is wrong, because the datastore then needs to have an index that have the tags property three times... and if the user search for more than 3 tags at a time then it will be broken. What's the proper way to do this? Do you guys have any suggestions?

It equals to null. So, what is wrong with that?

  • While within a switch block

    - by rursw1
    Hi, I've seen the following code, taken from the libb64 project. I'm trying to understand what is the purpose of the while loop within the switch block - switch (state_in->step) { while (1) { case step_a: do { if (codechar == code_in+length_in) { state_in->step = step_a; state_in->plainchar = *plainchar; return plainchar - plaintext_out; } fragment = (char)base64_decode_value(*codechar++); } while (fragment < 0); *plainchar = (fragment & 0x03f) << 2; case step_b: do { if (codechar == code_in+length_in) { state_in->step = step_b; state_in->plainchar = *plainchar; return plainchar - plaintext_out; } fragment = (char)base64_decode_value(*codechar++); } while (fragment < 0); *plainchar++ |= (fragment & 0x030) >> 4; *plainchar = (fragment & 0x00f) << 4; case step_c: do { if (codechar == code_in+length_in) { state_in->step = step_c; state_in->plainchar = *plainchar; return plainchar - plaintext_out; } fragment = (char)base64_decode_value(*codechar++); } while (fragment < 0); *plainchar++ |= (fragment & 0x03c) >> 2; *plainchar = (fragment & 0x003) << 6; case step_d: do { if (codechar == code_in+length_in) { state_in->step = step_d; state_in->plainchar = *plainchar; return plainchar - plaintext_out; } fragment = (char)base64_decode_value(*codechar++); } while (fragment < 0); *plainchar++ |= (fragment & 0x03f); } } What can give the while? It seems that anyway, always the switch will perform only one of the cases. Did I miss something? Thanks.

  • [C++] std::tring manipulation: whitespace, "newline escapes '\'" and comments #

    - by rubenvb
    Kind of looking for affirmation here. I have some hand-written code, which I'm not shy to say I'm proud of, which reads a file, removes leading whitespace, processes newline escapes '\' and removes comments starting with #. It also removes all empty lines (also whitespace-only ones). Any thoughts/recommendations? I could probably replace some std::cout's with std::runtime_errors... but that's not a priority here :) const int RecipeReader::readRecipe() { ifstream is_recipe(s_buffer.c_str()); if (!is_recipe) cout << "unable to open file" << endl; while (getline(is_recipe, s_buffer)) { // whitespace+comment removeLeadingWhitespace(s_buffer); processComment(s_buffer); // newline escapes + append all subsequent lines with '\' processNewlineEscapes(s_buffer, is_recipe); // store the real text line if (!s_buffer.empty()) v_s_recipe.push_back(s_buffer); s_buffer.clear(); } is_recipe.close(); return 0; } void RecipeReader::processNewlineEscapes(string &s_string, ifstream &is_stream) { string s_temp; size_t sz_index = s_string.find_first_of("\\"); while (sz_index <= s_string.length()) { if (getline(is_stream,s_temp)) { removeLeadingWhitespace(s_temp); processComment(s_temp); s_string = s_string.substr(0,sz_index-1) + " " + s_temp; } else cout << "Error: newline escape '\' found at EOF" << endl; sz_index = s_string.find_first_of("\\"); } } void RecipeReader::processComment(string &s_string) { size_t sz_index = s_string.find_first_of("#"); s_string = s_string.substr(0,sz_index); } void RecipeReader::removeLeadingWhitespace(string &s_string) { const size_t sz_length = s_string.size(); size_t sz_index = s_string.find_first_not_of(" \t"); if (sz_index <= sz_length) s_string = s_string.substr(sz_index); else if ((sz_index > sz_length) && (sz_length != 0)) // "empty" lines with only whitespace s_string.clear(); } Some extra info: std::string s_buffer is a class data member, so is std::vector v_s_recipe. Any comment is welcome :)

  • Optimizing GDI+ drawing?

    - by user146780
    I'm using C++ and GDI+ I'm going to be making a vector drawing application and want to use GDI+ for the drawing. I'v created a simple test to get familiar with it: case WM_PAINT: GetCursorPos(&mouse); GetClientRect(hWnd,&rct); hdc = BeginPaint(hWnd, &ps); MemDC = CreateCompatibleDC(hdc); bmp = CreateCompatibleBitmap(hdc, 600, 600); SelectObject(MemDC,bmp); g = new Graphics(MemDC); for(int i = 0; i < 1; ++i) { SolidBrush sb(Color(255,255,255)); g->FillRectangle(&sb,rct.top,rct.left,rct.right,rct.bottom); } for(int i = 0; i < 250; ++i) { pts[0].X = 0; pts[0].Y = 0; pts[1].X = 10 + mouse.x * i; pts[1].Y = 0 + mouse.y * i; pts[2].X = 10 * i + mouse.x; pts[2].Y = 10 + mouse.y * i; pts[3].X = 0 + mouse.x; pts[3].Y = (rand() % 600) + mouse.y; Point p1, p2; p1.X = 0; p1.Y = 0; p2.X = 300; p2.Y = 300; g->FillPolygon(&b,pts,4); } BitBlt(hdc,0,0,900,900,MemDC,0,0,SRCCOPY); EndPaint(hWnd, &ps); DeleteObject(bmp); g->ReleaseHDC(MemDC); DeleteDC(MemDC); delete g; break; I'm wondering if I'm doing it right, or if I have areas killing the cpu. Because right now it takes ~ 1sec to render this and I want to be able to have it redraw itself very quickly. Thanks In a real situation would it be better just to figure out the portion of the screen to redraw and only redraw the elements withing bounds of this?
