  • gem install giving error that I can't change permissions.. chown and chmod not working

    so I am trying to install hmac gem install ruby-hmac -v 0.4.0 I am getting the following error message: You don't have write permissions into the /opt/rbenv/versions/1.9.3-p448/lib/ruby/gems/1.9.1 directory So the output from ls -l is as such: ubuntu@ip-10-38-121-211:~/workspace/cf-release$ sudo ls -l /opt/rbenv/versions/1.9.3-p448/lib/ruby/gems/ I perform a chown on this directory: sudo chown -R ubuntu:ubuntu /opt/rbenv/versions/1.9.3-p448/lib/ruby/gems/ Try to install the gem: ubuntu@ip-10-38-121-211:~/workspace/cf-release$ sudo chown -v ubuntu:ubuntu /opt/rbenv/versions/1.9.3-p448/lib/ruby/gems/ ownership of `/opt/rbenv/versions/1.9.3-p448/lib/ruby/gems/' retained as ubuntu:ubuntu I do another ls -l on the directory: ubuntu@ip-10-38-121-211:~/workspace/cf-release$ ls -l /opt/rbenv/versions/1.9.3-p448/lib/ruby/gems/ total 4 d--------- 8 ubuntu ubuntu 4096 Nov 1 20:43 1.9.1 Doing a chmod 777 to make the directory writeable: ubuntu@ip-10-38-121-211:~/workspace/cf-release$ sudo chmod -v 777 /opt/rbenv/versions/1.9.3-p448/lib/ruby/gems/ mode of `/opt/rbenv/versions/1.9.3-p448/lib/ruby/gems/' retained as 0777 (rwxrwxrwx) ubuntu@ip-10-38-121-211:~/workspace/cf-release$ ls -l /opt/rbenv/versions/1.9.3-p448/lib/ruby/gems/ total 4 d--------- 8 ubuntu ubuntu 4096 Nov 1 20:43 1.9.1 Any idea as to why this would be acting up like this?   • Visual Studio Deployment Package - change the file structure the .zip creates?

    Everything works as expected but I would like to improve the directory structure that the .zip produces. When I create a deployment package I have it create in a custom directory which works fine but the .zip it creates is in the structure of: content/c_c/users/pcName/documents/VS2010/Projects/ProjectName/obj/release/package/packageTmp Only in the packageTmp directory do I get to the files I want! Is there a way for the created zip to not include all of those empty directories?

    I am developing a system that uses a little Internet page as a front-end for the whole program. Since I need to use ActiveX (sigh), the page must work on Internet Explorer. However, after some actions have been done the page needs to close itself. Using window.close() on Javascript it works, but before closing it prompts the user if it wants to close the Window. The ideal would be that it closes automatically. Is there any way to make IE8 (changing an option on the browser, not a code-only solution) not to prompt before closing the Window?

I've figured out how to encode one number, but it wont work the same way with five numbers.

  • How do I change the class of an object to a subclass of its current class in C++?

    I have an array of pointers to a base class, so that I can make those pointers point to (different) subclasses of the base class, but still interact with them. (really only a couple of methods which I made virtual and overloaded) I'm wondering if I can avoid using the pointers, and instead just make an array of the base class, but have some way to set the class to the subclass of my choosing. I know there must be something there specifying the class, as it needs to use that to look up the function pointer for virtual methods. By the way, the subclasses all have the same ivars and layout. Note: the design is actually based on using a template argument instead of a variable, due to performance increases, so really the abstract base class is just the interface for the subclasses, which are all the same except for their compiled code.   • How do I change the background image of my iPhone app?

    Hello I have looked around and found some code which so called chooses an image from an array of image objects, but cant find an explanation. I would like to make my app have a background image and the user can select next and previous buttons to scroll through some full screen images, setting them as the background image as they scroll. I know how to do this in java, but cant seem to do it for this app. How or what code is linked to a next button to grab the next image in the array and reverse for the back button? Then that needs to be displayed obviously. I have used a layered architecture with a MVC style approach but cant seem to put it together with Objective-C. Would the buttons call the appropriate methods of the so called delegates, which the delegates handle fetching and returning the Images? Would the buttons use the returned images and actually handle the redrawing? I would really appreciate the help. Regards Jarryd

B) Failing that, what methods could be used to develop this capability in a (crappy) self-written program without requiring the program to be sophisticated and content-aware? Is there any (roughly) universally safe location within a file (for example, around EOF?) where on could one simply append/add psuedorandom data so the resulting hash is different? My Procedure last day as below Click Start, Run and type Regedit.exe Navigate to the following branch: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Command Processor In the right-pane, double-click Autorun and set the startup folder path as its data, preceded by “CD /d “. If Autorun value is missing, you need to create one, of type REG_EXPAND_SZ or REG_SZ in the above location. Example: To set the startup directory to D:\learning\perl, set the Autorun value data to CD /d D:\learning\perl Then I clicked Start, run and type cmd. It successfully. I could do perl practice more conveniently now. But today, I find when I try to build my Visual Studio 2005 solution which included some Pre-build event Command like this: perl.exe MyAppVersion.pl perl.exe AttrScan.pl It doesn't work. Show error: can't find the path. I check the environment variable setting and find the variable-path and it's value-c:\perl\bin\; still exist. Finially, I try to removed the Regedit.exe configuration "Autorun" value and test again. The issue fixed. I only changed the default startup directory for cmd.exe command. Why the pre-build event perl command was impacted? (I am using winxp and activePerl 5.8)

    Lets assume i am a game and i have a global int* that contains my health. A game trainers job is to modify this value to whatever in order to achieve god mode. I've looked up tutorials on game trainers to understand how they work, and the general idea is to use a memory scanner to try and find the address of a certain value. Then modify this address by injecting a dll or whatever. But i made a simple program with a global int* and its address changes every time i run the app, so i don't get how game trainers can hard code these addresses? Or is my example wrong? What am i missing?

    I tried session.createSQLQuery("ALTER TABLE People MODIFY address VARCHAR(1000);").executeUpdate(); but this throws org.hibernate.exception.SQLGrammarException: could not execute native bulk manipulation query After a lot of googling, the recommendation is to use HQL instead of SQL query to do bulk updates. Not sure how to use HQL to accomplish this. There seems to be no decent HQL documentation for updating column length in a table. Thanks so much for the help.
