• jQuery DOM element creation vs innerHTML

  While having one of my questions answered, cletus mentioned that when creating elements in jQuery it's better to use direct DOM element creation, instead of innerHTML. I tried googling it but I wasn't able to find a good article with comparisons.   Hi all! I hava a simple question. I have a server running which take actions according to parameters in the url. Example: if I type in browser: http://localhost:8081/Edit?action=renameModule&newName=Module2 This works correctly. I would like to know the equivalent jquery ajax method to perform the same thing I have tried $.ajax({ url: 'http://localhost:8081/Edit', type: 'GET', data:'action=renameModule&newName=Module2 }); It is not working. • stop propagarion from draggable div to selectable table

  If I have a table which has selectable cells $("#selectTable").selectable({ filter: ">*>tr>td"}); and one of the cells contains a draggable div $(".dragMe").draggable({}); HTML like so: <table id="selectTable"> <tr> <td> 1 </td> <td> 2 </td> <td> 3 </td> <td> <div class="dragMe">drag me</div> </td> </tr> </table> How do I stop the cell containing the div from being selectable? I presume the div will intercept the click event before the table cell, but my attempts at using event.stopPropagation on the draggable element have led me nowhere so far... Any suggestions or tips for using draggable inside a selectable parent would be most appreciated! EDIT: It seems that adding the div element to the cancel option for the selectable almost works - $("#selectTable").selectable({ filter: ">*>tr>td", cancel: ':input,option,div'}); this prevents the div from being selected when you click on it, but not when you drag+select it along with surrounding elements. • Customising event delegates in the jQuery validation plug-in

  I am currently setting up the jQuery validation plug-in for use in our project. By default, there are some events automatically set up for handling. I.e. focus in/out, key up events on all inputs fire validation. I want it to only fire when the submit button is clicked. This functionality seems to be in-built into the plug-in, which is making it difficult to do this (without modifying the plug-in code, Not What I Want To Do). I have found the eventDelegate function calls in the plugin code prototype method: $(this.currentForm) .validateDelegate(":text, :password, :file, select, textarea", "focusin focusout keyup", delegate) .validateDelegate(":radio, :checkbox, select, option", "click", delegate); When I remove these lines from the plug-in I get my result, however I would much rather do something Outside the plug-in to achieve this. Can anybody please help me? If you need any more details, please let me know. I have searched google with little success. Thanks

  Hi , I have my code working etc for the pagination plugin but I have a slight error. When I add a table above my table which works with the sorter and pagination the pagination does not work. I think it is because that the table above it is taking the all the features and not using them. So is there a way to define which table to use like using a ID ?   Hi there, am using jquery tablesorter plugin and in my "country" column i got special characters like this: Índia. The fact is that when i hit the header of the column to sort it, it puts my "Índia" at the end of the column. I guess the nav sees the Í instead of the real "I" with an accent. Any clue on how to make it work even with accents ?   I have been making a threaded comment system as a way to learn php and javascript/jquery properly. Ive done bits and bobs in the past but ive made a new years resolution to learn it properly. Im having trouble inserting a reply form into the comment tree below the comment being replied to. • Can you restrict entering invalid keystrokes with jquery ui autocomplete combobox

  when using the jquery ui autocomplete combobox, i would thought there would be an option to force only valid key entry based on the list. Is there anyway to not allow invalid keys so you can only enter valid items in the list? also, is there a way to set a default value of the combobox. if my list has (csharp, java, python) i can start typing "abcds . ." and it lets me type it in. I want only valid entries to be allowed.

  Ok, I'm trying to use jQuery $.post with the PasteBin API to create a PasteBin page and grab the URL (which the API says it returns). Here is my code so far: $('#send_code').click(function(){ $.post('http://pastebin.com/api_public.php', { paste_name: $('#paste_name').val(), paste_code: $('#paste_code').val() }, function(data){ alert(data); }); } The above script creates the page just fine (I can find them on PasteBin). However, all that is returned is an empty string. I've tried using this same API with php and cURL, and I'm able to retrieve the URL just fine. Can anyone see if I'm doing something wrong? Thanks!

  TLDR How could I tell "page.html" which one of 3 or so cookies to look at when the cookie is set on the previous page? Currently: When a link is clicked save text of link to cookie When "page.html" is loaded get the value of the cookie Loads the getjson call as per value of the cookie. E.g: <a href="page.html">link1</a> -c1 <a href="page.html">link2</a> -c2 <a href="page.html">link3</a> -c3 See previous discussion here Now that is all good and well apart from the fact if I were to say open them in multiple tabs. It changes the cookie and correctly loads the right data. But if I were to refresh one of these tabs it will load the most recently open data rather than what it should be. So if I were to save a cookie as c1 with a value of link1 c2 with a value of link2 c3 with a value of link3 How could I tell "page.html" which cookie it should be looking at, therefore not breaking the back/forward/refresh buttons on the browser when multiple tabs are open?

• Help with Sharepoint (WSS 3.0) and JQuery

  Ok so the scenario is as follows: Have a sharepoint site setup on Microsoft Online, basically this site is a job booking system and is based on a custom sharepoint list. What I am trying to achieve is to extract List Items where the Invoiced Column is set to "No". Eventually I would like to post this to xero.com using their API as it accepts XML through the API Endpoints. Have tried using JQuery and JPoint but my limited programming skills are holding me back. Could anyone offer me some advice or point me in the right direction of someone that could help? am willing to pay someone if they can help me with getting this to work :)

Also, in firebug the div and ul and greyed out although the div has: visibility: visible; Incidently, the width and height attributes on the ul and subsequent li's are set to 0, shouldn't jCarouselLite be setting those? • A strange problem using jquery in IE6.

  I am using jquery load method to update divs , it works great until I test my code under IE6. The problem is : under IE6 , when I click a button to trigger a load method , the page is remaining unchanged until I move my cursor, that means if I click my mouse and keep my hand away from the mouse , the page is unchanged , if I move the mouse , the page is updated. This problem is only occurred under IE6 . IE7 , IE8, Firefox all have no problem. Have you guys ever encountered this kind of problem ?
