• Windows Azure Directory Sync Generic Failure

A few notes: The server is not the domain controller Sharepoint 2013 is installed on this server The account I log in with and run the application with is a domain and enterprise admin I right click and run as administrator when I start the application So when I click continue on the error and go through the steps I get two possible scenarios that change from time to time at now predictable rate: 1) I just get an error, generic failure. 2) I get an error "Cannot start service MSOnlineSyncScheduler on computer '.'." Any help?

  I'm setting up Postfix Admin 2.91 and trying to use dovecot:SHA512-CRYPT for password hashing. In config.inc.php I have set: // dovecot:CRYPT-METHOD = use dovecotpw -s 'CRYPT-METHOD'. Example: dovecot:CRAM-MD5 // (WARNING: don't use dovecot:* methods that include the username in the hash - you won't be able to login to PostfixAdmin in this case) $CONF['encrypt'] = 'dovecot:SHA512-CRYPT'; // If you use the dovecot encryption method: where is the dovecotpw binary located? // for dovecot 1.x // $CONF['dovecotpw'] = "/usr/sbin/dovecotpw"; // for dovecot 2.x (dovecot 2.0.0 - 2.0.7 is not supported!) $CONF['dovecotpw'] = "/usr/sbin/doveadm pw"; I have also tried SHA256-CRYPT and MD5-CRYPT with same results (as I understand it, these do not include usernames in the hash) In running setup.php, I get the following message when trying to create an admin account: can't encrypt password with dovecotpw, see error log for details Server error log reports: 1624#0: *6 FastCGI sent in stderr: "PHP message: dovecotpw password encryption failed. • Plesk Postfix SMTP 550 5.7.1 "Command rejected" for one external sender

  My server is rejecting emails from one external sender. I suspect this might be misconfiguration on the sending server, but I'm not sure from these error messages. The non-delivery report message the sender gets contains this text: #5.7.1 smtp;550 5.7.1 Command rejected> #SMTP# I also see this message in /var/messages at about the same time as the rejection message was sent, though I'm not sure if it's actually related: Nov 29 12:29:28 localhost postfix/smtpd[31829]: sql_sqlite3 plugin: no result found I'm using Plesk 10.4.4 Update #47, Centos 6.2, Postfix 2.8.4-11100615 on my mail server. This is only happening for one sender so far, but I found a Google result on experts-exchange.com which seemed to identify the same problem and with the same sending domain. This was posted back in June, and currently has no answers, so even if I was a paying customer it wouldn't be answered. (http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Server_Software/Email_Servers/Q_27760746.html) The generating server is bigfish.com. What I need to determine is if this is a problem on my server or a problem with bigfish.com. Is there more information I can find in config files, logs, etc. to figure this out?

• Zabbix Log Monitoring - Duplicate alerts

  I am configured Zabbix to monitor my Jboss Server logs for Erros and exclude some know errors. This setup is working with one issue. Zabbix will send me alerts when there is a new "ERROR" entry in the log file. But sometimes I get multiple alerts for the same event. For example, I got 5 alerts with the same time stamp "2012-06-25 07:55:56,864 ERROR". The duplicate alerts count is not constant, sometimes I get 2 sometimes 5 or 11. I checked the Monitoring Latest data in the GUI, and found that there is no duplicate entries. I have given my configuration of the log monitoring below. I am using latest version of zabbix server(2.0) Item configuration: Description: Server Error Monitoring. • SQL Server 2008 Cluster Installation - First network name always fails

  I'm testing failover clustering in Windows Server 2008 to host a SQL Server 2008 installation using this installation guide. My base cluster is installed and working properly, as well as clustering the DTC service. However, when it comes time to install SQL Server, my first attempt at installation always fails with the same message and seems to "taint" the network name. For example, with my previous cluster attempt, I was installing SQL Server as VSQL. After approximately 15 attempts of installation and trying to resolve the errors, e.g. changing domain accounts for SQL, setting SPNs, etc., I typoed the network name as VQSL and the installation worked. Similarly on my current cluster, I tried installing with the SQL service named PROD-C1-DB and got the same errors as last time until I tried changing the name to anything else, e.g. PROD-C1-DB1, SQL, TEST, etc., at which point the install works. It will even install to VSQL now. While testing, my install routine was: Run setup.exe from patched media, selecting appropriate options After the install fails, I'd chose "Remove node from a SQL Server failover cluster" and remove the single, failed, node Attempt to diagnose problem, inspect event logs, etc. Delete the computer account that was created for the SQL Service from Active Directory Delete the MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER folder from the shared data drive The error message I receive from the SQL Server installer is: The following error has occurred: The cluster resource 'SQL Server' could not be brought online. Error: The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation. • Configuring external SMTP server on Azure VM - messages staying in queue

  I have an external SMTP provider: auth.smtp.1and1.co.uk I am trying to send SQL Server Reporting Services emails via this on an Windows 2012 Azure VM. It is configured sufficiently correctly for emails to be generated, but I've not configured something or mis-configured something as the emails then stay in the queue. Message delivery to the host '212.227.15.179' failed while delivering to the remote domain 'gmail.com' for the following reason: The remote server did not respond to a connection attempt. 7) tried pinging but this appears to be blocked on azure 8) tried more powershell sending on different domains variants (localhost, boxname, internal ip used in smtp properties, 127.0.0.1) - none resulting in success 9) tried adding a remote domain - no change Could anyone recommend what step 10 should be in fixing this issue please?

• Email with extra '.com' behind sender email address

  Currently I had a situation where I sent an email to [email protected], but when I receive mail from [email protected], it showed as [email protected], with extra '.com' behind the email address, this just happen within this week. Before this, I didn't change any setting, currently I am using Outlook 2010. When I checked the email in webmail, it also showed it as [email protected]. It seem that it has nothing to do with Outlook. However, I also tried on Thunderbird 16.0.1, but still the problem is the same. Has anyone experienced this before? Is the problem caused by the sender or receiver?   Hi, i have set up backup schedule on our server. SQL Server 2008 to 01:00am on windows server 2008 R2 to 4:00am. Sql backup runs well, but system backup ends sometimes with error. • Having trouble using psservice and sc.exe between Windows Server 2008 machines

  I'm trying to control services on one W2k8 machine from another; no domain just a workgroup. The user account I'm logged in as is an administrator on both machines. I've tried both psservice and sc.exe. These work in a Windows Server 2003 environment but it looks like I need to an extra step or two due to the changed security model in 2008. Any ideas as to how grant permission to the Service Control Manager (psservice) or OpenService (sc)? I tried running the DOS window with "Run As Administrator" and it made no difference. • Cannot run "Automation Anywhere" exe files from console (session 0) on Windows Server 2003 64 bit

  I have a simple exe created from an Automation Anywhere task that displays a message box saying hello world. I created this simple exe just for debugging the following issue. When I log in to the console (session 0), and run the Automation Anywhere created executable, it starts to run the task, it shows up in the applications and processes list in the task manager and it shows the two "loading..." windows briefly on the screen, just like normal. But after that, nothing happens... the "hello world" message does not show up. The exe is done and is removed from the application and process list in the task manager. The user I am logged in as, has admin rights and the machine uses "autologin" to automatically log in using this profile when it starts up. If I right click on the exe and "run as" another admin user, the exe runs properly, showing the "hello world" message. Also, if I log into the server in a new session, with the original user (the one that has the problems in session 0), and then run the exe, it runs properly and shows the "hello world". It works fine in any session other than the console session. There is something about the console session that is causing the exe not to run properly... even though it does appear to start running the exe. I should also mention that everything was working fine until Monday at midnight, after which none of the executables could be run successfully. Nothing was changed on the server and no updates were installed. I have since installed windows updates, but that didn't change anything. Looking for some advice on how to get these executables working in the console session again. Thanks!

• "No more threads can be created in the system" in Network and Sharing Center

  A while back I noticed on one of our laboratory computers (Windows 7, very little extra software installed) that the network connection icon in the system tray would claim that it had no network connection, even though it did. This issue would go away after the computer was rebooted, but would surface again the next time I looked at the computer (a few days later). Upon opening the Network and Sharing Center I am shown an actual error message, but not one that seems to give me a lot of information about what the problem is. In the place of the usual information about network adapters and whether you are connected to the Internet it simply says: "No more threads can be created in the system." The Event Viewer shows hundreds of events from different services also with the same message. "Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine CoCreateInstance. hr = 0x800700a4, No more threads can be created in the system."; "The WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service service failed to start due to the following error: A thread could not be created for the service."; "The IP Helper service terminated with the following error: No more threads can be created in the system." As far as I can tell, this message seems to mean that there is some sort of resource leak in Windows where something is creating a large number of threads and those threads are not being killed off? I've tried restarting WMI and several services related to networking, without avail. Can anyone provide more information on what "No more threads can be created in the system" might mean and what I might be able to do to fix the issue? Currently the only solution appears to be restarting.

• How do I start nginx on port 80 at OS X login?

  I installed Nginx using homebrew and after completing the installation the following message was displayed: In the interest of allowing you to run `nginx` without `sudo`, the default port is set to localhost:8080. If you want to host pages on your local machine to the public, you should change that to localhost:80, and run `sudo nginx`. You'll need to turn off any other web servers running port 80, of course. You can start nginx automatically on login running as your user with: mkdir -p ~/Library/LaunchAgents cp #{prefix}/org.nginx.nginx.plist ~/Library/LaunchAgents/ launchctl load -w ~/Library/LaunchAgents/org.nginx.nginx.plist Though note that if running as your user, the launch agent will fail if you try to use a port below 1024 (such as http's default of 80.) But I want Nginx, on port 80, running at login and I don't want to have to open terminal and type in sudo nginx to do it. I want it to load from a plist file like Redis and PostgreSQL do. I moved the plist to /Library/LaunchAgents/ from the user folder equivalent and changed its ownership, also tried setting the user directive in the nginx.conf file and still the same error message in Console.app: nginx: [emerg] bind() to 0.0.0.0:80 failed (13: Permission denied) (along with another message telling me that since nginx was being run without super-user privileges, the user directive was being ignored)

• PHP pages working slow from time to time

  I have VPS with limit of 2GB of ram and 8 CPU cores. I have 5 sites on that VPS (one of them is just for testing, no visitors exept me). All 5 sites are image galleries, like wallpaper sites. Last week I noticed problem on one site (main domain, used for name servers, and also with most traffic, visitors). That site has two image galleries, one is old static html gallery made few years ago and another, main, is powered by ZENPhoto CMS. Also I have that same gallery CMS on another two sites on that same VPS (on one running site and on one just for testing site). On other two sites I have diferent PHP driven gallery. Problem is that after some time (it vary from 10 minutes to few hours after apache restart), loading of pages on main site becomes very slow, or I get 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable error. So pages becomes unavailable. But just that part with new CMS gallery, old part of site with static html pages are working fast and just fine. Also other two sites with same CMS gallery and other two with different PHP driven gallery are working fine and fast at the same time. I thought it must be something with CMS on that main site, because other sites are working nice. Then I tryed to open contact and guest book pages on that main site which are outside of that CMS but also PHP pages, and they do not load too, but that same contact php scipts are working on other sites at the same time. So, when site starts to hangs, ONLY PHP generated content is not working, like I said other static pages are working. And, ONLY on that one main site I have problems. Then I need to restart Apache, after restart everything is vorking nice and fast, for some time, than again, just PHP pages on main site are becomming slower. If I do not restart apache that slowness take some time (several minutes, hours, depending ot traffic) and during that time PHP diven content is loading very slow or unavailable on that site. After sime time, on moments everything start to work and is fast again for some time, and again. In hours with more traffic PHP content is loading slowly or it is unavailable, in hours with less traffic it is sometimes fast and sometimes little bit slower than usually. And ones again, only on that main site, and only PHP driven pages, static pages are working fast even in most traffic hours also other sites with even same CMS are working fast. Currently I have about 7000 unique visitors on that site but site worked nice even with 11500 visitors per day. And about 17000 in total visitors on VPS, all sites ( about 3 pages per unique visitor). • Why do (Russian) characters in some received emails change when reading in David InfoCenter?

  I'm using David InfoCenter as email Software, and I have troubles with some of my emails in Russian. It's only a few letters, in some emails (sent from different people), like for example the "R" ("P" in russian) will be shown as a "T". In other emails in Russian, the problem doesn't appear. Isn't it strange? Does anyone had the same problem already and found where it came from? When I transmit that email to an external mailbox (internet email account), it's even worse, and gives me symbols instead of all Russian letters... The default encoding was "Russian (ISO)", I changed it to "Russian (Windows)", but same problem. Another weird reaction is when I write an intern email and name it TEST in Russian (????), with ???? in the text window, it changes the title to "Oano"? But the content stays in Russian... • Windows 2008 Server cannot access any network share

  Hello friends I run a Windows 2008 server with SP2. This server acts as a desktop alone. Recently, I switched between two networks (corporate and other) using this system. Ever since, I am unable to access any network share on the original network from where I installed and configured the desktop. The message I get is "Network path was not found". Note that I am able to access the internet and my corporate mail server. I am told this is a Vista and Windows 2008 specific problem and I have done everything I could think of: a) Deleted the second network settings from the desktop b) Installed a patch from MS that supposed took care of this problem (with MS clearly saying they had not tested this enough) c) The SP2 install was after the problem occurred and I went ahead with it in the hope that SP2 may have something that would fix this Some additional details: a) A system admin can log into this system from a remote terminal b) I cannot get into my own system using the hidden share C$ - for instance \mymachine\C$ gives me the same message as above - Network path not found c) I can log into my system remotely using mstsc d) I cannot create shares on this system - as an extension network printers are not detected I have an update for you: The error message is as follows - **Network Error** Windows cannot access \\network_share Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise there might a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems, click Diagnose. Clicking Diagnose gives Error Code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found. • Problem recreating BCD on Windows 7 64bit - The requested system device cannot be found

  NVIDIA drivers upgrade crashed my Windows 7 installation, so I'm working to undo the damage. What I can do: I can boot Windows install from the USB drive, and I can boot the Hiren's Boot CD. Although automated Windows repair fails, I can get to command prompt when I boot Windows install from USB drive, and I can see my drive and all my data. What I cannot do: I cannot boot into Windows - I get this message: Windows failed to start. A recent hardwware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: 1.insert windos cd and run a repair your computer option. File: /boot/bcd Status: 0xc000000f Info: an error occured while attempting to read the boot configuration data. It seems that something is wrong with my /Boot/BCD, so I'm trying to recreate it from scratch. I've tried all the methods detailed here (including Windows repair which fails), and I'm left with the last one (near the bottom of that page). When I type the following command as in the tutorial: bcdedit.exe /import c:\boot\bcd.temp ...it fails with the following error: The store import operation has failed. The requested system device cannot be found. Many Google results say that I must use diskpart to set my partition active, however it's already set as active. Also, when I try this: bcdedit /enum It fails with similar message: The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The requested system device cannot be found. Does anyone know what does that error message mean, and what is the requested system device? I'd like to avoid having to reinstall Windows since all the files on disk seem to be fine.

  I installed boinc 6.10.21 on my macosx 10.5 in order to upgrade from a 6.6 version that I was running today, and I am the admin user, and I was logged in as the admin user. As I was installing 6.10.21 I was asked if non admin users should be allowed to use boinc, and I said 'yes' to this. Then when I tried to open boinc I got a message like the following: "You currently are not authorized to manage the client. Either re-install and allow non-admin users or contact your administrator to add you to the 'boinc_master' user group." So I tried to reinstall first, and I was not asked if non admin users should be allowed to use boinc.. so I retried a few times and got no different result.. So I downloaded 6.10.43 and installed that, and again I was not asked if non admin users should be allowed to use boinc.. and when I tried to run boinc I got the same message like: "You currently are not authorized to manage the client. Either re-install and allow non-admin users or contact your administrator to add you to the 'boinc_master' user group." So I did a google search trying to figure out how to add my admin user to the bonic_master user group and found this which suggested I run the following in terminal: "sudo dscl . -append /Groups/boinc_master GroupMembership <your user's short name> CR" So I did this and now I get the following error: BOINC ownership or permissions are not set properly; please reinstall BOINC (Error code -1200) So I reinstall and I am ever asked the question about allowing non admin users again, and I still get this error message every after every reinstall attempt.. What should I do?..

• Office 2003 won't install with proper CD KEY

  I wanted to reinstall Office 2003 Pro. I retrieved the key with NirSoft ProduKey, confirmed with Jelly Bean Windows Key Finder and the key is the same. I've tried 3 different Office 2003 PRO CD's and it still won't install because it's saying key is bad, i even tried with different key from other computer and it also won't install. Anyone can suggest some workaround?
