  • Repeat String - Javascript

    - by brad
    What is the best or most concise method for returning a string repeated an arbitrary amount of times? The following is my best shot so far: function repeat(s, n){ var a = []; while(a.length < n){ a.push(s); } return a.join(''); }

  • How to get the top keys from a hash by value

    - by Kirs Kringle
    I have a hash that I sorted by values greatest to least. How would I go about getting the top 5? There was a post on here that talked about getting only one value. What is the easiest way to get a key with the highest value from a hash in Perl? I understand that so would lets say getting those values add them to an array and delete the element in the hash and then do the process again? Seems like there should be an easier way to do this then that though. My hash is called %words. use strict; use warnings; use Tk; #Learn to install here: http://factscruncher.blogspot.com/2012/01/easy-way-to-install-tk- on-strawberry.html #Reading in the text file my $file0 = Tk::MainWindow->new->Tk::getOpenFile; open( my $filehandle0, '<', $file0 ) || die "Could not open $file0\n"; my @words; while ( my $line = <$filehandle0> ) { chomp $line; my @word = split( /\s+/, lc($line)); push( @words, @word ); } for (@words) { s/[\,|\.|\!|\?|\:|\;|\"]//g; } #Counting words that repeat; put in hash my %words_count; $words_count{$_}++ for @words; #Reading in the stopwords file my $file1 = "stoplist.txt"; open( my $filehandle1, '<', $file1 ) or die "Could not open $file1\n"; my @stopwords; while ( my $line = <$filehandle1> ) { chomp $line; my @linearray = split( " ", $line ); push( @stopwords, @linearray ); } for my $w ( my @stopwords ) { s/\b\Q$w\E\B//ig; } #Comparing the array to Hash and deleteing stopwords my %words = %words_count; for my $stopwords ( @stopwords ) { delete $words{ $stopwords }; } #Sorting Hash Table my @keys = sort { $words{$b} <=> $words{$a} or "\L$a" cmp "\L$b" } keys %words; #Starting Statistical Work my $value_count = 0; my $key_count = 0; #Printing Hash Table $key_count = keys %words; foreach my $key (@keys) { $value_count = $words{$key} + $value_count; printf "%-20s %6d\n", $key, $words{$key}; } my $value_average = $value_count / $key_count; #my @topwords; #foreach my $key (@keys){ #if($words{$key} > $value_average){ # @topwords = keys %words; # } #} print "\n", "The number of values: ", $value_count, "\n"; print "The number of elements: ", $key_count, "\n"; print "The Average: ", $value_average, "\n\n";

  • Bad_alloc exception when using new for a struct c++

    - by bsg
    Hi, I am writing a query processor which allocates large amounts of memory and tries to find matching documents. Whenever I find a match, I create a structure to hold two variables describing the document and add it to a priority queue. Since there is no way of knowing how many times I will do this, I tried creating my structs dynamically using new. When I pop a struct off the priority queue, the queue (STL priority queue implementation) is supposed to call the object's destructor. My struct code has no destructor, so I assume a default destructor is called in that case. However, the very first time that I try to create a DOC struct, I get the following error: Unhandled exception at 0x7c812afb in QueryProcessor.exe: Microsoft C++ exception: std::bad_alloc at memory location 0x0012f5dc.. I don't understand what's happening - have I used up so much memory that the heap is full? It doesn't seem likely. And it's not as if I've even used that pointer before. So: first of all, what am I doing that's causing the error, and secondly, will the following code work more than once? Do I need to have a separate pointer for each struct created, or can I re-use the same temporary pointer and assume that the queue will keep a pointer to each struct? Here is my code: struct DOC{ int docid; double rank; public: DOC() { docid = 0; rank = 0.0; } DOC(int num, double ranking) { docid = num; rank = ranking; } bool operator>( const DOC & d ) const { return rank > d.rank; } bool operator<( const DOC & d ) const { return rank < d.rank; } }; //a lot of processing goes on here; when a matching document is found, I do this: rank = calculateRanking(table, num); //if the heap is not full, create a DOC struct with the docid and rank and add it to the heap if(q.size() < 20) { doc = new DOC(num, rank); q.push(*doc); doc = NULL; } //if the heap is full, but the new rank is greater than the //smallest element in the min heap, remove the current smallest element //and add the new one to the heap else if(rank > q.top().rank) { q.pop(); cout << "pushing doc on to queue" << endl; doc = new DOC(num, rank); q.push(*doc); } Thank you very much, bsg.

  • KnockoutJS radio buttons not changing like checkboxes do

    - by Gaui
    I have the same data structure for checkboxes and radio buttons. When checking the checkboxes, they return correct boolean value ('chosen' variable). However, when I check the radio buttons, 'chosen' always changes to the 'value' (integer). Also the radio buttons don't get "checked" in the beginning, even though 'chosen' == true Javascript: function attributeValueViewModel(data) { var self = this; self.id = ko.observable(data.id); self.attributeID = ko.observable(data.attributeID); self.value = ko.observable(data.value); self.chosen = ko.observable(data.chosen); } function viewModel() { var self = this; self.attributeValues1 = ko.observableArray([]); self.attributeValues2 = ko.observableArray([]); self.addToList = function(data) { ko.utils.arrayForEach(data, function(item) { self.attributeValues1.push(new attributeValueViewModel(item)); self.attributeValues2.push(new attributeValueViewModel(item)); }); }; } var arr = [ { "id": 55, "attributeID": 28, "value": "Yes", "chosen": false, }, { "id": 56, "attributeID": 28, "value": "No", "chosen": true, }, { "id": 62, "attributeID": 28, "value": "Maybe", "chosen": false, } ]; var vm = new viewModel(); ko.applyBindings(vm); vm.addToList(arr); HTML <b>Checkbox:</b> <div id="test1"> <span data-bind="foreach: attributeValues1()"> <input type="checkbox" data-bind="value: id(), checked: chosen, attr: { name: 'test1' }" /> <span data-bind="text: value()"></span> <span data-bind="text: chosen()"></span> </span> </div> <br /> <b>Radio:</b> <div id="test2"> <span data-bind="foreach: attributeValues2()"> <input type="radio" data-bind="value: id(), checked: chosen, attr: { name: 'test2' }" /> <span data-bind="text: value()"></span> <span data-bind="text: chosen()"></span> </span> </div>? Here is my fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/SN7Vn/1/ Can you please explain this behavior and why the radio buttons don't update boolean (like checkboxes do)?

  • Exploded (unpacked) EAR vs. Packaged EAR file?

    - by Adam
    In my office we use exploded EAR's (and inside them exploded WAR directories) for our test environments, and then a packaged one for production. I've yet to find a good explanation of the reason behind this though. I understand it's easier from a deployment perspective to push out a single file during builds, but it prevents us from doing things like property file changes without doing complete rebuilds (we could skip the compiles, but our environment currently binds the compile and jar processes together). What are the major advantages / disadvantages between these two configurations?

  • applying css to dijit button

    - by peirix
    I have the following HTML and CSS: <button id="myBtn" dojoType="dijit.form.Button">Testing</button> #myBtn { margin-left: 100px; } The CSS is supposed to push the button in 100px. But since dijit applies some extra layers of HTML around the button, the button gets a 100px padding. JSbin to show the problem edit: Found one (not IE6-compatible) solution: [widgetid=myBtn] { margin-left: 100px; }

  • Avoiding SQL Injection in SQL query with Like Operator using parameters?

    - by MikeJ
    Taking over some code from my predecessor and I found a query that uses the Like operator: SELECT * FROM suppliers WHERE supplier_name like '%'+name+%'; Trying to avoid SQL Injection problem and parameterize this but I am not quite sure how this would be accomplished. Any suggestions ? note, I need a solution for classic ADO.NET - I don't really have the go-ahead to switch this code over to something like LINQ.

  • Is there an easy method to combine two relative paths in C# ?

    - by Ioannis
    I want to combine two relative paths in C#. For example: string path1 = "/System/Configuration/Panels/Alpha"; string path2 = "Panels/Alpha/Data"; I want to return string result = "/System/Configuration/Panels/Alpha/Data"; I can implement this by splitting the second array and compare it in a for loop but I was wondering if there is something similar to Path.Combine available or if this can be accomplished with regular expressions or Linq? Thanks

  • OpenGL: Implementing transformation matrix stack

    - by Jakub M.
    In a newer OpenGL there is no matrix stack. I am working on a simple display engine, and I am going to implement the transformation stack. What is a common strategy here? Should I build a push/pop stack, and use it with a tree representing my model? I suppose this is the "old" approach, that was deprecated in the newer OpenGL versions. Maybe then it is not the best solution (it was removed for some reason)

Is it possible? Is this a job for LINQ?
