If you hover over a standard library Java method in Eclipse, you get a hover over dialog. How can you change the color of the text in that hover over dialog ?

I know randomized UUID have very very very low probability for collision in theory, but I am wondering, in practice, how good is java 5's randonUUID in terms of not having collision? Does anybody have any experience to share?
So suppose I'm developing a chess-like program using Java's Swing. I added a MouseListener to handle user input. To make a move the user must click a valid piece and then click a valid place. What's the best way to track the 2 mouse clicks in a turn? I'm thinking in use some kind of variable to record if is the turn's first click or second.
I've downloaded, unzipped and setup Eclipse 3.4.2 with some plugins (noteable, EPIC, Clearcase, QuantumDB, MisterQ).
Now I find when I'm editing Java projects the code completion is not working. If I type String. and press ctrl-space a popup shows "No Default Proposals" and the status bar at the bottom shows "No completions available".
Any ideas?
Thanks....

Are there any java libraries (Apache Style licenses) which provide a higher level of abstraction for unit conversions. e.g.
kilograms to grams or grams to kilograms
meters to centimeters or centimeters to meters
ft - inches to centimeters
I have looked at JSR 275 but it seems to be in a rejected state. Any Apache 2.0 style license will definitely help me here.
I have a java string which has an dollar value and cents value after decimal points and starting with a + or - sign. I want to convert into cents and store it in a integer (it can have + or -). Also i need to check if the cents part (after decimal point) not more than 2 digits and throw an error message if exists
example :
String dollval= "12.23" ,"12","-0.09", "-99","-99.0", "-99.23","0.00"
int dollint = 1223,12,-9,-99,-00,-9923,0
I have been using XSL-FO and FOP Engine to generate PDF documents for required data. This works great, but lately I have seen some limitations in FOP especially when it comes to allowing user to enter text in a html editor which can be transformed to XSL-FO and given to FOP driver.
This brought me to point to ask this large community of well informed individuals about what are possible Open Source or even non open source libraries to generate PDF documents in Java?
Here is the deal, in my Java project I have to make a composite document that combines both text and images; So I'm looking for a way to manipulate pictures (rotate, change size, that sort of thing). The API I'm looking for should be clear and easy to learn (preferably with some examples), it should cover the basic transformations I made above - rotate, change size, eventually crop.
class java.io.FileReader not found
I need this in order to get the file and then parse it with an xml parser.

Is there way to find out if Java is running on a platform which supports windowing of any kind? I know that you could possibly figure it out by reading in the environment variables, but that might prove to be rather difficult with all the possible combinations.
Hi:
Is there a way in Java to do a Nslookup search on SRV records?
I need to bind to Active Directory and would like to use the SRV records to help determine which of the ADs in the cluster are live.
In command line the nslookup search string is: 'nslookup -type=srv _ ldap._tcp.ActiveDirectory domain name'
Thanks.
I've .NET framework 3.5 installed in my laptop. Just .NET alone, no Visual Studio. How can I run Java, Python, Ruby and Perl programs from the console? What are the commands used for running them?
Do I need to install something else also, for running these language files?
I have a Java program that runs in the background without any UI.
I want my program to exit when When I press Control+F9.
Do you have any idea?
Thanks!
Hello.
Are there open source libraries for Java to make implementation of drag and drop easier?
I plan to make something like the one shown below:
The program is Alice, where you can drag some elements on the left and nest them to the right. It's open source, but they did not use any libraries I think. I'm wondering if we anyone know of open source frameworks that work this way, or assist in doing complex drag and drops.

In java adjectives ending in -able are interfaces Serializable, Comparable etc... So why is Throwable a class? Wouldn't exception handling be easier if Throwable were an interface?
Obviously, changing it now is out the question. But could it be made abstract? Wouldn't that avoid the bad practice of throw new Throwable();
Please help :/
In Java you can create an abstract class that contains only abstract methods. On the other hand, you can create an interface that declares the same methods. So can you use abstract classes instead of interfaces?
Cheers!
