• TV Guide script - getting current date programmes to show

  This is part of my TV guide script: //Connect to the database mysql_connect("localhost","root","PASSWORD"); //Select DB mysql_select_db("mytvguide"); //Select only results for today and future $result = mysql_query("SELECT programme, channel, episode, airdate, expiration, setreminder FROM mediumonair where airdate >= now()"); The episodes show up, so there are no issues there. However, it's getting the database to find data that's the issue. If I add a record for a programme that airs today this should show: Medium showing on TV4 8:30pm "Episode" Set Reminder Medium showing on TV4 May 18th - 6:25pm "Episode 2" Set Reminder Medium showing on TV4 May 18th - 10:25pm "Episode 3" Set Reminder Medium showing on TV4 May 19th - 7:30pm "Episode 3" Set Reminder Medium showing on TV4 May 20th - 1:25am "Episode 3" Set Reminder Medium showing on TV4 May 20th - 6:25pm "Episode 4" Set Reminder but this shows instead: Medium showing on TV4 May 18th - 6:25pm "Episode 2" Set Reminder Medium showing on TV4 May 18th - 10:25pm "Episode 3" Set Reminder Medium showing on TV4 May 19th - 7:30pm "Episode 3" Set Reminder Medium showing on TV4 May 20th - 1:25am "Episode 3" Set Reminder Medium showing on TV4 May 20th - 6:25pm "Episode 4" Set Reminder I almost have the SQL working; just not sure what the right code is here, to avoid the second mistake showing - as the record (which indicates a show currently airing) does not seem to work at present. • initialize jquery slider with hidden input value from database.

  I'm using a slider as user input for a screen. Basically it's a bulk update screen where there is a table with multiple rows, thus multiple sliders. I created it so that the hidden value is what gets posted in the form. <td> <input class="percentageProvidedHidden" type="hidden" name='<%= "Values[" + i + "].Percentage" %>' value='<%=item.Percentage %>' /> <div class="percentageProvidedSlider"></div> </td> I have the update working just fine (move slider changes hidden input value, submit, values are updated in db), however, I can't get the damn thing to initialize with the value of the hidden input (note the "value: " parameter below). In this case I think $(this) isn't actually $('percentageProvidedSlider') but the page itself. Can someone help me get the slider value to initialize with the hidden input field? • MMORPG Server architecture: How to handle player input (messages/packets) while the server has to update many other things at the same time?

  Yes, the question is is very difficult. This is more or less like what I'm thinking up to now: while(true) { if (hasMessage) { handleTheMessage(); } } But while I'm receiving the player's input, I also have objects that need to be updated or, of course, monsters walking (which need to have their locations updated on the game client everytime), among other things. What should I do? Make a thread to handle things that can't be stopped no matter what? Code an "else" in the infinity loop where I update the other things when I don't have player's input to handle? Or even: should I only update the things that at least one player can see? These are just suggestions... I'm really confused about it. If there's a book that covers these things, I'd like to know. It's not that important, but I'm using the Lidgren lib, C# and XNA to code both server and client. Thanks in advance.

Now I use the first variant. But I now that many built-in c++ functions use the second variant. The first variant is more comfortable (in my opinion). But the second one also has some advantages (you allocate and delete memory in the same block). Maybe it's a silly question but what variant is better and why?

Ultimately, I am trying to make it so my scroll-to setting still works, but not have that error come up anymore. I am trying to write a code that checks if string has already been randomly outputted and if it does, then it won't display. • Possible to bypass laptop inverter power source - HP dv5000 inverter 7 input pins?

  I've got an HP dv5000 laptop with a backlight that won't light up, (but is known to be good). I've also got an inverter board which is good, but isn't getting power from the mobo. So, my question is, would it be possible to bypass the original power source, and hack together some type of externally powered input just for the backlight? If so, does anybody know the input voltage and meaning for the 7 input pins for the inverter board, or how to find out?

• Weird system freeze. Nothing works keyboard/mouse/reset button - Ubuntu 12.04 64bits [closed]

  I have fresh PC: i5 3570K with Intel 4000 onboard ASrock Z77 Extreme4-m 8GG RAM - Adata 1333Mhz... 1TB Seagate drive 7200rpm I've also fresh systems - Ubuntu/Win7 and today there was something strange. Ubuntu twice just freezed. Everything stopped, even keyboard and mouse wasn't responding. Even RESET button didn't work. Right now memtest is running, but I'd like to know, where else can i look for cause. Can it be software fault if even reset isn't working? Only long reset pressing rebooted PC... I'm a bit confused. Or should I test components - CPU, motherboard, disk. Which logs in Ubuntu should I check to diagnose cause? EHm I had few adventures with this PC already. Shipped motherboard was broken (ASrock Z68 Extreme3) and had old bios, so I had to contact with reseller, replace it and at the end decided on Z77, but everything took 3 weeks, so I have bad feelings... Edit: Both freezes were during editing something in gedit (it can be coincidence) and after few updates today - when memtest is end I'll check what was updated

I then fire up XBMC from a terminal on the PC monitor using DISPLAY=:0.1 xbmc XBMC fires up quite nicely on the TV however I can no longer use the main PC monitor / mouse / keyboard as XBMC on the TV screen seems to have focus. I was hoping to have XBMC running on the TV and let the kids use the MCE remote whilst I get on with my work on the PC monitor. Does anyone have any idea how to overcome this? I'm presuming there's some xorg.conf fun and games needed but I've no idea where to start to be honest.

  Hi, I'm having difficulty getting data from a textbox into a Controller. I've read about a few ways to accomplish this in Sanderson's book, Pro ASP.NET MVC Framework, but haven't had any success. Also, I've ran across a few similiar questions online, but haven't had any success there either. Seems like I'm missing something rather fundamental. Currently, I'm trying to use the action method parameters approach. Can someone point out where I'm going wrong or provide a simple example? Thanks in advance! Using Visual Studio 2008, ASP.NET MVC2 and C#: What I would like to do is take the data entered in the "Investigator" textbox and use it to filter investigators in the controller. I plan on doing this in the List method (which is already functional), however, I'm using the SearchResults method for debugging. • Using 32bit COM object from C# or VBS on Vista 64bit and getting error 80004005

  I need some mind reading here, since I am trying to do what I do not completely understand. There is a 32-bit application (electronic trading application called CQG) which provides a COM API for external access. I have sample programs and scripts which access this API from Excel, .NET (C++, VB and C#) and shell VBScript. I have these .NET applications as source code and as compiled executables (32-bit, compiled on Windows XP). Now I have Windows Vista Home 64-bit which makes my head to spin. Excel examples work just fine (in Excel 2003). Compiled .NET sample executables work as well. But when I am trying to run .NET C# sample converted to and compiled by Visual Studio C# Expression, or run the VBScript script, I am getting error 80004005 when trying to create an object. Initially the .NET application also gave me 80040154 but then I figured how to make it produce 32-bit code and not 64-bit, so now the errors in C# and VBScript applications are the same. That's all the progress I got for now. And yes, I tried running 32-bit versions of cscript.exe/WScript from SysWOW64 folder on my VBS, but still the result is the same (80004005). How to solve this problem? I am almost ready to believe it is practically impossible, but the fact that Excel VBA works and .NET executables compiled on Windows XP run just fine just makes me angry. There should be a way to beat this thing (some secret which probably only Windows Vista developers know)! I will appreciate any help! PS: I believe code samples do not make much sense here, but this is the line of VBScript which fails: Set CEL = WScript.CreateObject("CQG.CQGCEL.4.0", "CEL_") And this is C#: CQGCEL CEL = new CQGCEL(); Update: Forgot to say UAC is off, of course. And I am working from account with administrator priviledges. I also tried watching which registry keys are read using Process Monitor but everything looks OK for GUIDs of this object. I could not recognize some other GUIDs so I am not sure whether they were critical or not. Is there a chance that this COM object uses Internet Explorer and gets the wrong one (like Internet Explorer 7 instead of Internet Explorer 6 engine or something)?

  Hello, I created a simple web application and added log4J's jar in my lib folder and it seems to work fine. Any idea why is this error coming? Actually first i created a Enterprise application and everything seemed to work fine. But then, i copied files from my enterprise application's ejb module to a separate module and since then these errors are coming. • Qt Serial Port Errors - Data not getting read

  I'm trying to read a serial port with the Qt SerialPort library. I can read the data using HyperTerminal. In Qt I used the following code to try and do the same thing.   Hi. We are porting a simple Java application between Tandem NonStop systems, from G-Series to H-Series. Java version is 1.5.0_02.   Hey guys, First of all, i have read the "millions" of post on this site and some blogs/forum post on other websites, and no answer is solving my problem. I'm my app, there's a possibility to import a txt or csv file with data. In the case of the error, the file contains 444 rows (file is 14,5 kB). When i try to send it to the server to process it, i get an QuotaExceedException, telling me to increase MaxReceivedMessageSize. So i changed it to a much higher value, but i'm still getting the same exception. I'm using the same exact items for client and server in system.servicemodel in my config file. • CSS Background image arbitrarily not getting requested at all

  I`m in the process of building a template for Redmine (a project management system based on Ruby on Rails.) Ruby is running on a virtual server from a Bitnami.org installation package. The OS is Windows. The template essentially consists of a styles.css file. In that file, I have the following line: #header { padding: 0px; padding-top: 48px; background-color: #62DFFF; background-image: url(../images/bkg.jpg); background-position: center bottom; background-repeat: repeat-x; height:150px; } It's a header element with a background image. The problem: This background image arbitrarily appears and disappears when reloading the page. It is more often missing than it is not. Say you reload the page in your browser ten times in twenty seconds; the image will appear in two instances, and be missing in the 18 others. I would have put this down to server problems, but the weird thing is that when it's missing, the request for the image doesn't appear in Firebug's net tab at all. Even if it were cached, the request should be there, shouldn't it? Raw screenshots of the identical page on two reloads: I am 100% sure the CSS file does not change in between. I have examined both instances with Firebug and the CSS is identical. When I change the image's URL by editing the style declaration in firebug to bkg.jpg?xyz=123445 then the image will get loaded, which is making me think this must be a server problem. It happens in both Firefox and Chrome so it must be something basic I'm overlooking. What could be causing a browser not to load a resource at all? I have zero idea about Ruby nor Rails - getting Redmine running and customized is all I have ever had to do with this platform - so I don't really know where to start debugging. Apache's, Mongrel's and Redmine's error logs look fine, though. And then again, this looks like a browser issue. I'm stumped.

• Getting a screenshot of a page using C# - Need help with code

  I'm writing a specialised crawler and parser for internal use and I require the ability to take a screenshot of a web page in order to check what colours are being used throughout. The program will take in around ten web addresses and will save them as a bitmap image, from there I plan to use LockBits in order to create a list of the five most used colours within the image. To my knowledge it's the easiest way to get the colours used within a web page but if there is an easier way to do it please chime in with your suggestions. Anyway, I was going to use this program until I saw the price tag. I'm also fairly new to C#, having only used it for a few months. Can anyone provide me with a solution to my problem of taking a screenshot of a web page in order to extract the colour scheme? EDIT: Sorry for not getting back to this sooner, but I've been busy with some other things. Anyway, the code seems to work well, but the problem I am having right now is that I am running it within a form, and naturally with Application.Run() being called I cannot run two instances of the same form at once. It recommended Form.showDialog() but that broke everything.
