    How do I get tcsh to stop asking if I want to list files in a directory that may have a lot of auto-completes? For example, if I do: xemacs ../"TAB" to get the list of files it asks: There are 371 rows, list them anyway? [n/y] I don't want it to ask this, just list them.. it's getting tiresome. (Or how to at least set the tolerance to a higher number of auto-completes before it asks) Thanks.

  • Execute a program by double-clicking the taskbar and/or the desktop, Windows 7

    It would be so useful, and not very difficult, because in fact I have Directory Opus installed (a very powerful windows explorer alternative) and it does exactly that, but only by double-clicking the desktop, not the taskbar. Similar options with middle-click would also be nice, such as scrolling the taskbar (maybe cycling directly through the Alt-Tab window). 7 Task Tweaker is close to this, actually, but it doesn't do what I would like.

  • Why can I no longer pin tabs in Google Chrome?

    I am using the latest dev channel version of Chrome in Ubuntu 9.10. Before Chrome automatically updated a few days ago, I had the option to pin tabs. This option no longer appears when I right-click on a tab. Is anyone else having these problems? If not, any idea what I can do to fix this? Thanks.

    I am drawing graphs for a paper that supports only black and white graphs. I need to show more than 3 histograms and want to have different patterns on them like hash, dotted, double hashed etc instead of different colors in the legend. I am using MS Excel 2007. I tried but dont find a way except for the option available in design tab that I find when I double click on the chart area( These are shades of grey color and I want patterns like hashing, dots etc).   • KDE global hotkeys not working any more

    Since I installed to KDE 4.4.x I lost any "global accelerator" facility, including Alt-Tab, Alt-F1 and Ctrl-F1-F4 which of course renders the whole experience a lot… slower. Upgrading later to KDE 4.5.5 didn't help either. I'm running FreeBSD 8.1/amd64 and, as far as I can see, kglobalaccel is working: % qdbus org.kde.kglobalaccel /component/kwin org.kde.kglobalaccel.Component.isActive true Any idea what else I could check to debug the issue?

  • How do I find a domain server on my client right away?

    This is a problem that I noticed. I have a Windows 2008 R2 Server and joined it to my windows 7 client. Now when I am trying to reach my "share" that i created in the Win2008 server, it does not show up at the Network tab in Windows 7. Instead, the only way I found it was to manually type in \\myserverlocation in the run prompt. Is there any way to find my share right way without doing this?

I like to kill background apps with the middle mouse button, but it's not possible to do with the regular "alt-tab" switcher... Is there any way to have the best of these two worlds - that is the ability to easily kill apps with the middle mouse button but without desktop apps being grouped into one item?

I've tried "getLayoutInflator()" instead of "LayoutInflator.from(this)" with the same result. If I replace the LayoutInflater line with "setContentView(R.layout.unit_view)" my program doesn't crash with a null pointer exception but my content is completely blank and empty. I get the tab and that's it. I've checked to make sure R.layout.unit_view and tabHost are not null when it runs the LayoutInflater line and they seem to be fine. They're defenitely not null.   • Need help on Coda slider tabs to move inside an overflow:hidden div

    I'm not too good at javascript. and hope I can get a bit of help. I'm using Coda Slider 2.0, and have designed it to where the tabs are another slider to the right of the main slider, and each item.     Above: current "stupid" menu. (entire ul/li menu for javascript menu system) + (some li lines as page-specific submenu) Hi folks! With passion for automation and elegancy, but limited knowledge/knowhow, im stuck with "my hands in my hair" as we Dutch say, for my current menu system works perfectly, but is a pain in the a*s to update! So, i would appreciate it greatly, if you can suggest how to automate this in php: how to let the php generate the html menu code basing on a flat menu input file with TABS indented. OLD SITUATION <ul> <!-- about 100 of these <li>....</li> lines --> <li><a href="carrot.php"><p class="mnu" style="background-position:0 -820px"><? echo __("carrot juice") ?></p></a></li> <!-- lots of data, with only little bit thats really the menu itself--> </ul a javascript file reads a ul/li structure as input to build menu of format in that ul/li, the items with a hyperlink and sprite-bg position represent webpages, (inside LI) while items without hyperlink and sprite-bg are just headers of that menusection, (inside H6) to highlight the current page in the menu, the javascript menumaker uses an id number. this number corresponds to the consequtive li that is a webpage, skips h6 headers correctly. these h6 headers are only there for when importing sections of the same menu as submenu. non-li headers are not shown in menu, nore counted by the javascript menu for their ID. to know which page should be shown, i have to count from ID 0, the li items till finding the current webpage in the li structure and then manually put it in each webpage! BUT: changing an item in li order, means stupidly re-counting their entire li again! each webpage has an icon (= sprite bg-position numer), which is also used in the webpage. INTENDED RESULT I dream of, once setting what the current webpage is (e.g carrot.php) the menu system automatically "finds" and "counts" the li's and returns the id nr (for proper highlight of main menu); generates the entire menu html, and depending on which headings are set for submenu, (e.g. meals, drinks) generates those submenu (entire section below each given header); ginally adds h5 highlight inside the li of that submenu item. For the menu, i wish an easily readable, simple plain txt menu that is indented with tabs, (each tab is one depth for example) and further tabs follow for url and sprite position of icon.   • jquery tabs changing on change?

    Hello, I have two tabs each with different styles and different text. One recent posts and one recent comments the css for each are below with the ones I need to have when they are selected. So pretty much when a user selects the recent comments it will change the entire block to the second one (2). Pretty much changing width, and swapping the css for both tabs. I am currently using idtabs http://www.sunsean.com/idTabs/ My question: How can I have it change the tab css and width for both when the right tab is selected and then back again when the left tab is selected.   • Again WPA Connection problem even after changed to latest version ..please help

    I am using hostapd, wireless tools with madwifi for my wireless ap in my board. The WEP, WPA-PSK connections and communications between my board with linux and my desktop PC, Windows XP SP2 (with Olitec USB wireless) are fine. But when I configured the WPA type, the connection seems established but shows the status "TKIP - Key Absent" in the security dialog box. Anyone faced this problem? Am attaching the conf files and the connection status. In the AP side am complaining .   • Wireless internet connection connects but internet does not work (no packets received). Wired does.

    When I connect my PC via ethernet cable to my ADSL router it works fine. When I connect via Wireless it connects and the internet will work for a random amount of time and then stop working. It stays connected with a strong signal but no packets are received. My laptop/iphone are right next to it and wireless works fine. If I open the Wireless USB status, it says it is connected to my SSID with full strength (54 mps - I am 3 meteres away from my router) and the activty shows as Packets 594 SENT and 105 RECEIVED (this goes up VERY slowly) I have tried the following: Turned off anitvirus and firewall completely. Tested the wifi signal- I am writing this on my laptop which is next to my PC and also has full wifi strength. Tried a different wireless adapter - I dug out an old PCI wireless card - it does the exact same thing. Compared all wireless settings to my laptop. I can ping google.com and it replies (sometimes with packet loss) When I reboot the PC it will connect for a minute or two (random time) and then just stops again. I tried Firefox, IE etc. no joy I have updated all latest versions (Netgear WG111v2) and drivers Checked Event Log - nothing unusual Ping the router (and even connect as admin for the few minutes when the internet does work) Changed the MTU down to 1200 using DrTCP Checked Device Manager for conflicts - none. I ping the router from the PC (192.168.0.10 - 192.168.0.1) and it replies with 4 packets. BUT, on my router admin page (which I access via http on my laptop wirelessly) - if I ping 192.168.0.10 all packets timeout (pinging my laptop 192.168.0.12 works fine) My router admin page shows the leased IP address for 192.168.0.10 (ie it is definitely talking to the router initially) Now I am out of ideas - please help. I think it is an OS/Software issue as I have tried 2 different wireless adapaters (PCI and USB) with the same result but all other wireless devices work fine around mine). It's not the firewall. It is getting assigned an IP address correctly (my PC gets 192.168.0.10, my laptop is .12) It is assigned by DHCP. As soon as I plug in the ethernet cable it all works fine. Repairing the adapter sometimes helps but it will always stop working after a random time. The wireless adapter always shows as connected with Excellent signal but the internet does not work. I am running Windows XP SP3 and have tried a Netgear WG111v2 USB adapter. Thanks in advance! UPDATE: The internet seems to be working, it is just either sending packets too small or slow to work (some small pages load bits of them very slowly but then hang).   • jquery $.getJSON only works once in internet explorer Help Please!!!

    I have a php function which inserts a searchbar into each page on a website. The site checks to see if the user has javascript enabled and if they do it inserts some jquery ajax stuff to link select boxes (instead of using it's fallback onchange="form.submit()"). $.getJSON works perfectly for me in other browsers except in IE, if I do a full page refresh (ctrl+F5) in IE my ajax works flawlessly until I navigate to a new page (or the same page with $PHP_SELF) either by submiting the form or clicking a link the jquery onchange function fires but then jquery throws an error: Webpage error details Message: Object doesn't support this property or method Line: 123 Char: 183 Code: 0 URI: http://~#UNABLE~TO~DISCLOSE#~/jquery-1.4.2.min.js It seems like jquery function $.getJSON() is gone???     If we've learned anything from HTML/CSS it's that, declarative languages (like XML) work best to describe User Interfaces because: It's easy to build code preprocessors that can template the code effectively. The code is in a well defined well structured (ideally) format so it's easy to parse. The technology to effectively parse or crawl an XML based source file already exists. The UIs scripted code becomes much simpler and easier to understand. It simple enough that designers are able to design the interface themselves. Programmers suck at creating UIs so it should be made easy enough for designers. I recently took a look at the meat of a WPF application (ie. the XAML) and it looks surprisingly familiar to the declarative language style used in HTML. It's apparent to me that the current state of desktop UI development is largely fractionalized, otherwise there wouldn't be so much duplicated effort in the domain of graphical user interface design (IE. GTK, XUL, Qt, Winforms, WPF, etc). There are 45 GUI platforms for Python alone It's seems reasonable to me that there should be a general purpose, open source, standardized, platform independent, markup language for designing desktop GUIs. Much like what the W3C made HTML/CSS into. WPF, or more specifically XAML seems like a pretty likely step in the right direction. Now that the 'browser wars' are over should we look forward to a future of 'desktop gui wars?' Note: This topic is relatively subjective in the attempt to be 'future-thinking.' I think that desktop GUI development in its current state sucks ((really)hard) and, even though WPF is still in it's infancy, it presents a likely solution to the problem. GladeXML Editor: Glade Interface Designer OS Platforms: All GUI Platform: GTK+ Languages: C (libglade), C++, C# (Glade#), Python, Ada, Pike, Perl, PHP, Eiffel, Ruby XRC (XML Resource) Editors: wxGlade, XRCed, wxDesigner, DialogBlocks (non-free) OS Platforms: All GUI Platform: wxWidgets Languages: C++, Python (wxPython), Perl (wxPerl), .NET (wx.NET) XML based formats that are either not free, not cross-platform, or language specific XUL Editor: Any basic text editor OS Platforms: Any OS running a browser that supports XUL GUI Platform: Gecko Engine? Languages: C++, Python, Ruby as plugin languages not base languages Note: I'm not sure if XUL deserves mentioning in this list because it's less of a desktop GUI language and more of a make-webapps-run-on-the-desktop language.   • Mismatched coordinate systems in LWJGL with Mouse and Textures

    I'm not really sure how to expand on this other than to say that it appears that my LWJGL seems to have different coordinate systems for the Mouse and for painting Textures. It seems that Textures have the usual Java2D way of putting (0, 0) in the upper-left corner, while the Mouse goes by the more sensible way of having the origin in the lower-left corner. I've checked my code a bunch but I don't see anything modifying the values between where I read them and where I use them. It's thrown me for a loop and I can't quite figure it out. However, I want to have my code to be as independent as possible so I want to remove as much reliance on other classes as possible.   • css, unordered list not displaying icon in right place...

    I'm really frustrated with this one. A few weeks ago I got it working in both firefox and ie just fine. Went back today to do some testing and found a problem with the display in firefox and I've been searching the code but can't find anything. I could use a few tips from anyone willing, I'm sure I'm looking at the wrong things. I upgraded my firefox version but I imagine my code is broke, not firefox. I'm assuming the problem is somewhere in my css file, but I'm not sure. Here's what I've confirmed so far. There don't seem to be conflicts in other css files with < ul 's or < li 's that may be overriding settings. The other confirmation is that This works fine in Internet Explorer...therefore I must be an idiot, because its usually been the other way around (working in FF, but failing in IE).   • Insert text into a div from a poput form and rewrite the inserted text with javascript

I created another button for nicEdit, a video button and wanted to insert some formatted text into the editor DIV (note: nicEdit has inline DIV, no iframe, no textarea).
