  • How can I add missing Fn-key controls?

    I have a Toshiba NB200 netbook. The majority of the Fn-key controls come through fine and are recognized by my OS (I'm running Kubuntu 12.04/KDE 4.9) but according to the markings on my keyboard there are a few more that xev isn't detecting, i.e. Fn + F9 (touchpad toggle) Fn + 1 (increase screen resolution) Fn + 2 (decrease screen resolution) Fn + Space (zoom) Now, I don't particularly need those last three but I thought it would be quite useful to remap them to, say, Media Previous, Media Next, and Media Play, but I can't do that if the signals aren't getting through. Is there any way for me to persuade the OS to recognize these keystrokes? I've tried using acpi_listen to detect scancodes but it doesn't pick up any of function-related Fn-key strokes (like Audio Mute, which does work by the way).

  • Passing ActionListeners in Java, pack()

    Two questions. First question is I'm trying to create a simple form that when you press a button, it adds a Person object to the ArrayList. However, since I am not used to GUIs, I tried creating one and am first just trying to get the user input from the JTextField, create an ActionListener object of the appropriate type, so once that works, then I can pass in all the JTextField inputs to create my Person object.     I have 32 bit 14.04 installed as the only OS on a older Toshiba Laptop. Unfortunately, when I installed it I did not set up a \home partition, which I had intended to do. What I want to do is to set up a \home partition and to transfer the files in my current \home directory to it. I have a 14.04 Live CD, so I could reinstall 14.04. I also have GParted on a Live CD. If I use GParted, I need precise instructions about how to proceed. I have plenty of disk space (200 GB) for either alternative and know how to decide space allocation for Linux partitions.   • Is it okay to just add a page or two PHP page to add some functionality to a Drupal site?

    I'm not familiar with Drupal, really. I can dig around the admin interface and navigate the directories and find the files that I need to just fine as well. What I'm really not familiar with is adding modules or extending modules. The site currently takes an order and sets up recurring payments through Ubercart and uses Authorize.net as a gateway. Right now, when a payment fails, a single e-mail gets sent out to the admin. We'd like to extend it to send an e-mail to the user and let them change their payment information through another page on the site. Authorize has a service called Silent Post URL that basically just posts a carbon copy in XML to whatever URL you give it. We'd like to accept that XML, deserialize it, parse the data, send a notice to the user and give them the page for updating their information. So, I guess it'll be two PHP pages. One for the XML API call from Authorize.net, and then one for the page for the users' to update their payment information. Could I just create two simple pages each handling their own tasks, or should I check out properly extending a module? If it's appropriate for me to write up the pages and not have to hook them into the module, what would be the best way to handle setting up what needs to get done? (The most experience I've had with extending a PHP site has been hacking away at someone else' poorly constructed, custom framework, so if anyone has any good resources perhaps on PHP best practices that they could share through a PM or a comment, I'd appreciate It) (Also, I'm still getting the hang of Stack Exchange, so if this isn't appropriate please let me know. I'll delete it.)
