• Symfony2: automatically logging in users from their Windows session

  In Symfony2 I have built an intranet. It currently uses the FOSUserBundle and an LDAP bundle to log users in, and I would like to add the functionality to log in user from their session in Windows. I found an NTLM script for PHP and an updated version of it, but I haven't been able to incorporate them into Symfony2. I also found an NTLM bundle for Symfony2, but it was written for an older version of Symfony and it is not maintained anymore. I was unable to rewrite it and get it to work. My question is; how could I automatically log in users from their Windows session in my Symfony2-app, in addition to the already present LDAP functionality? What would be the best and easiest way?

• TFS Load Testing Web Tests

  I am configuring a load test and am curious/confused on settings. I am testing an intranet website, that is expected to have 6000 concurrent users. My employer had some previous consultant tell them that the load test users does not matter and that we need to worry about requests/second. They have previously determined that those 6000 users would generate 30 rps, while I feel that is not correct we need to show that we can exceed that number. The previous load test was set for only 200 users and the results showed that it did exceed the 200 rps. They were happy with the results, but that is not how I understand this. My question is, if we need to support 6000 concurrent users should I just set my users to 6000 and run, or is the rps an adequate piece of data to rely on? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

• Expose url to webservice

  In our project we want to query a document management system for a specific document or movie. The dms returns a URL with the document location (for example: http://mydomain.myserver1.share/mypdf.pdf or http://mydomain.myserver2.share/mymovie.avi). We want to expose the document to internet users and intranet users. The requested file can be large (large video files). Our architecture is like: request goes like: webapp1 - webapp2 - webapp3 - dms response goes like: dms - webapp3 - webapp2 - webapp1 webapp1 could be on the internet. I have have been thinking how we can obfusicate the real url from the dms, due to security issues. I have seen implementations from other webapps where the pdf URL was obfusicated by creating a temp file for the requested document that is specific for the session and user. So other users cannot easily guess the documentname of other users. My question: is there a pattern that deals with exposing company/user vulernable data to the public ? Our development is in C# 3.5.

• Hide header and footer when printing from Internet Explorer using Javascript or CSS

  When I print a webpage from Internet Explorer it will automatically add a header and footer including the website title, URL, date, and page number. Is it possible to hide the header and footer programatically using Javascript or CSS? Requirements: works in IE 6 (no other browser support necessary as its for an Intranet) may use ActiveX, Java Applet, Javascript, CSS preferably not something that the user needs to install (eg. http://www.meadroid.com/scriptx). feel free to list other third party available plug-ins though as I think this may be the only option don't require the user to manually update their browser settings don't render the pages as PDF or Word document or any other format don't write to the registry (security prevents this) Thanks

• IIRF not working with AsP.NET PostBacks?

  Hi, I have the following scenario Web server A: public on the internet, IIRF (current version) installed Web server B: on the intranet, visible to A, my APS.NET web app is installed on, name is pgdbtest3 I configure IIRF so that any request targetting directory /MMS/ on server A is redirected to the corresponding one http://pgdbtest3/MMS/. The ini file look like: StatusUrl /iirfStatus RemoteOk RedirectRule ^/MMS$ /MMS/ [I] ProxyPass ^/MMS/(.*)$ http://pgdbtest3/MMS/$1 [I] It is working fine except that any post back causes an error (404 is returned). I have tried many solutions including the removal of the action attribute from the form but with no luck. Please help!

• Best reverse proxy for IIS 6?

  I want to set up a reverse proxy from one of our intranet IIS sites to point to another tomcat server. Eg, i want the user to browse to 'http://our-iis-server/friendly-url' and for it to reverse proxy to 'http://our-tomcat-server/ugly-url'. What would be the best solution for this? I've narrowed it down to three options: http://www.managedfusion.com/products/url-rewriter/documentation.aspx http://www.isapirewrite.com/ http://www.codeplex.com/IIRF Also, can these tools rewrite the links in the html? Eg, if the tomcat server's html has something like 'a href = http://our-tomcat-server/ugly-url/product/widget' i would need it to change to 'a href = http://our-iis-server/friendly-url/product/widget' Thanks in advance.   Hello guys; I have a conceptual question... I am making an Intranet application (Web platform) for a company. I have a SQL Server DB with these tables: Users (userID, userName, userPass, roleID) Roles (roleID, roleName) Pages (pageID, pageURL) RolesXPages(pageID, roleID) How is the best way to create a structure to store all this information while the user navigates the site, I mean, on the thread I should be able to check his role, his pages (the ones he can access) I have been reading and there is a lot of stuff there where Im confused, I saw the MembershipProvider, IPrincipal, IIdentity, etc classes but Im not sure what should be the best one for me. Any thoughts... Thanks in advance! Edit: Everytime gets more confusing... I just want to handle those structures at runtime and be able to mantain state during page callbacks or changing pages...

• Using SharePoint user profiles to build a company phone directory

  I'm working on a Sharepoint 2007 (MOSS Std) intranet implementation right now, and one of the things we'd like to do is replace the manually-maintained phone directory with the profile information we're importing from AD. People search is great, but I want to have a big page with all the names and phone numbers of the 150 or so people that work at the company (which means using the People Search webpart with a query hard-coded to return everyone won't work). A few quick searches haven't turned up anything, but this seems like a really common request. Can anyone help me out? I'm not opposed to buying a reasonably-priced webpart to solve this or writing some custom code, but both seem like they shouldn't be required for such a simple request.

  I have a multi-user software solution (containing different applications, i.e. EXEs) that should allow only a limited number of concurrent users. It's designed to run in an intranet. I dont have a really good, satisfactory solution to the problem of counting the client licenses yet. The key requirements are: Multiple instances (starts) of the same application (= process) should count as only one client licence Starting different applications of the software solution should also count as only one (the same) client licence Application crash should not lead to orphaned used licences The above should work also for Terminal Server environments (all clients same IP, but different install folders) I'm looking for estabilished patterns, solutions, tips for managing used client licenses.   I built a assembly which is a class library, for example lib.dll . And I also have a application to access this lib, for example test.exe. I changed the security permission for the test.exe to "intranet". At the same time, I want to change lib.dll to "Internet" like this: (Because I want to do some testing for security.)   hello, I got a situation over here. We have a .Net application running on intranet ServerA(database/application server). Now we have also implemented the application on a other machine ServerB (application server only,windows Server 2003, IIS 6.0) database is pointed towards serverA. Everything works fine but the problem is we have some web forms where we are allowing some users to attach some files like documents , pdf etc. But the Public users are facing problem with the attachments. Is this considered as a bad practice? A friend of mine says that it is ok for Intranet environment but on internet it might not be find friendly by search engines. • Client side templating with unknown variables

  Our company has an intranet consisting of several e-mail templates filled with variables (like [[NAME]], [[PROJECT]] and so on). I was thinking of implementing some sort of client side templating to make it easier to replace these variables with actual values. The problem is that among all the client side template solutions I've located so far, all of them seem to assume that the JS code knows all the template variables that exist in the markup, and none of them seem to be able to fetch a list of variables defined in the markup. Does anyone know of any solutions/plugin which makes this possible? Thanks in advance!

For this i created a web application with windows authentication for intranet zone and after that, I created an extension for an internet zone with fba. In the internet extension we have the following requirement: - able to acess to sharepoint backoffice using fba. - have a authentication mecanism for portal visitors, where they can authenticate and acess to a page where they can subscribe the newsletter and define some site appearance (this users can't acess to sharepoint backoffice). My idea is use the aspnet membership provider to authenticate both users and create diferente roles for them. Anyone suggests another approach? Is there any way to ensure that visitors (2 case) do not enter the backoffice portal? Thanks

• Using Django Admin for a custom database solution

  A client wants to have a simple intranet application to manage his process. He runs a Quarry and wishes to track number of loads delivered per day and associated activities. Since I knew about Django's excellent Admin interface, I figured I could define the "Schema" in models.py and have Django Admin generate the forms. I did exactly that and the result is not bad at all. I've been able to customize the look and feel to suit the client's taste. Some questions: Is Django Admin the right choice for such a use-case? Will I run to problems in the future due to flexibility of the framework? Is there a better framework out there specifically designed for this use-case (general Database management for small businesses)? I prefer ones written in Python since I can hack it up to customize. • How can I keep a WPF Image from blocking if the ImageSource references an unreachable Url?

  I'm writing a WPF application and trying to bind an image to my view model with the following XAML: <Image Source="{Binding Author.IconUrl, IsAsync=True}" /> The problem is that the image URLs are defined by users and can often refer to images hosted on intranet web servers. When the WPF application is run remotely, it locks up while trying to resolve the images that are now unreachable. I thought the "IsAsync" binding property would cause the load to happen in the background, but it appears that the DNS resolution may still happen in the main thread? What can I do to keep my app from locking, even if the images are unreachable? Thanks, Corey

• Javascript - Concatenate Multiple NodeLists Together

  I was originally asking for an elegant way to simulate the Array.concat() functionality in IE or older browsers, because it seemed that concat was not supported. Only, of course it is and the reason the object didn't support it is because it wasn't an array. Oops! getElementsByTagName returns a NodeList, not an array. The real question, then, is: what's a good way to get a single list of all the form elements in a document (input, select, textarea, button) to loop through them? An array isn't required... a single NodeList would be perfect, too. Note that I'm using IE6 as this is for a corporate intranet (soon IE8 though).

• Sharepoint SSRS: Unexpected Error Encountered

  We are running an intranet website hosted on Sharepoint 2007, serving reports to users via SSRS. Recently, our users are experiencing error when trying to access certain reports with the error message "An unexpected error has occurred". After trying many things, to cut a long story short we manage to temporarily solve the problem by manually running UPDATE STATISTICS on the tables in the database. However, this error will periodically crop up again and again, running UPDATE STATISTICS immediately solved it. I had suggested to run a daily job in the server to auto run UPDATE STATISTICS every few hours or so but was rejected by my team lead. Is there any other workaround for this error? Why does UPDATE STATISTICS solve the problem, I still not very understand?

• Packaging up ASPX, CSS and image files

  I'm designing a simple framework for small websites to be used in an intranet. The websites will all be similar, but there will be a few pages, or controls on pages, that are different. I would like to be able to version and maintain the common framework part of the websites as if they were a regular library - if I need to update CSS then I only have to do it in one place. Can I package-up ASPX files, images and CSS and distribute them like this? What am I missing? My goal is to allow the developers of the few core content pages to get up and running with the websites quickly, with standard styles and images. Thanks!

  I have created and asp.net web site utilizing a web.sitemap file to help with navigation. The site needs to be deployed within a virtual directory inside of our SharePoint intranet site. The problem that I am running in to is that when I request the SiteMap.CurrentNode property, it is returning information from SharePoint's sitemap. Specifically, when i try to get my sitemap's title or description, I am getting information from SharePoint. I have tried re-naming my sitemap and declaring a new Sitemap provider within the web.config. After creating the new sitemap provider and requesting the SiteMap.currentNode, I receive an error message saying that it can't find the web.sitemap file. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

• Google Gadgets and external scripts

  I'm trying to create my first custom Google Gadget to be used privately in my company's Google Sites intranet. Ideally I'd like to just show a thumbnail that the user can click that will open a modal window with the full video. This requires my including a couple of small JS libraries in my widget. For my widget I created this XML: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <Module> <ModulePrefs title="Video Demos" /> <Content view="url" href="http://www.website.com/_gadgets/video.php"> </Content> </Module> The "video.php" page has simple HTML on it and includes two JS files for the modal window using but doesn't work. Are you not able to include external scripts like this? If not, what are my options here?
