  • Jquery history, inspect the history stack

    - by nickmorss
Im using this history jquery plugin http://www.mikage.to/jquery/jquery_history.html and im trying to inspect the back stack. I can call this $.historyCurrentHash to return the current hash, but im trying to figure out how to look one step back in the stack. if i try calling this $.historyBackStack, but i just get an 'undefined'. anyone got any ideas? I can see that its not a public variable, but im wondering if i need to modify the library or just call it in a different way

  • what is stack overflow

    - by Dimitris Baltas
Back in the days as freshmen in University, when programming in C on Unix machines, a "stack overflow" error on run-time would occur causing a lot of thought on what went wrong. What exactly is "stack overflow" in programming? What are the possible reasons for its appearance? Can it occur in all programming languages? Does it have other names?

  • iGoogle Stack Overflow Gadget [closed]

    - by Charango
Since SO's question database is becoming an excellent first point of call for finding answers to coding problems, some people (like me) might like to be able to fire up searches from their iGoogle home page, among the other searches you might launch from there. I've created a very simple gadget to do this, and put the source below. My hope is that this might provide a foundation on which community members with better ideas for performing this function, or ideas for enhancing it, can update it. Perhaps we could make it configurable to search via a site scope search from Google and / or a question search, for instance. I've hosted and registered this first version but if anyone makes changes and can host a new version / new pics elsewhere, please feel free. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <Module> <ModulePrefs title="Stack Overflow Search" author="Community Wiki" author_email="[email protected]" author_affiliation="Stack Overflow" author_location="The Internet" author_aboutme="All sorts" author_link="http://stackoverflow.com" author_quote="Hofstadter's Law: It always takes longer than you expect, even when you take into account Hofstadter's Law." description="Stack Overflow is rapidly becoming one of the best resources for finding answers to your programming questions. • Symbolizing plugins in Instruments' stack traces

    - by Huperniketes
Instruments is able to properly symbolize my app's main bundle (as well as frameworks and libraries) in the stack trace of the extended detail view. However, symbols aren't resolved for plugins loaded during execution. Setting the build directory where the dSym files for the main and plugin bundles are located (as well as the app itself) in the "File Re-Symbolicate Document" menu item made no discernible difference in the stack trace. What must I do for Instruments to load symbols for the plugins?

  • Stack overflow code golf

    - by Chris Jester-Young
To commemorate the public launch of Stack Overflow, what's the shortest code to cause a stack overflow? Any language welcome. ETA: Just to be clear on this question, seeing as I'm an occasional Scheme user: tail-call "recursion" is really iteration, and any solution which can be converted to an iterative solution relatively trivially by a decent compiler won't be counted. :-P ETA2: I've now selected a “best answer”; see this post for rationale. Thanks to everyone who contributed! :-)

  • Stack and queue operations on the same array.

    - by Passonate Learner
Hi. I've been thinking about a program logic, but I cannot draw a conclusion to my problem. Here, I've implemented stack and queue operations to a fixed array. int A[1000]; int size=1000; int top; int front; int rear; bool StackIsEmpty() { return (top==0); } bool StackPush( int x ) { if ( top >= size ) return false; A[top++] = x; return true; } int StackTop( ) { return A[top-1]; } bool StackPop() { if ( top <= 0 ) return false; A[--top] = 0; return true; } bool QueueIsEmpty() { return (front==rear); } bool QueuePush( int x ) { if ( rear >= size ) return false; A[rear++] = x; return true; } int QueueFront( ) { return A[front]; } bool QueuePop() { if ( front >= rear ) return false; A[front++] = 0; return true; } It is presumed(or obvious) that the bottom of the stack and the front of the queue is pointing at the same location, and vice versa(top of the stack points the same location as rear of the queue). For example, integer 1 and 2 is inside an array in order of writing. And if I call StackPop(), the integer 2 will be popped out, and if I call QueuePop(), the integer 1 will be popped out. My problem is that I don't know what happens if I do both stack and queue operations on the same array. The example above is easy to work out, because there are only two values involved. But what if there are more than 2 values involved? For example, if I call StackPush(1); QueuePush(2); QueuePush(4); StackPop(); StackPush(5); QueuePop(); what values will be returned in the order of bottom(front) from the final array? I know that if I code a program, I would receive a quick answer. But the reason I'm asking this is because I want to hear a logical explanations from a human being, not a computer.

  • Stack Trace of cross-thread exceptions with Invoke

    - by the_lotus
When an exception happens after calling Invoke, .NET shows the stack trace as if the error happens while calling Invoke. Example below: .NET will say the error happen in UpdateStuff instead of UpdateStuff - BadFunction Is there a way to catch the "real" exception and show the correct stack trace? Private Sub UpdateStuff() If (Me.InvokeRequired) Then Me.Invoke(New UpdateStuffDelegate(AddressOf UpdateStuff)) Return End If Badfunction() End Sub Private Sub BadFunction() Dim o As Object o.ToString() End Sub

  • PDB: exception when in console - full stack trace

    - by EoghanM
When at the pdb console, entering a statement which causes an exception results in just a single line stack trace, e.g. (Pdb) someFunc() *** TypeError: __init__() takes exactly 2 arguments (1 given) However I'd like to figure out where exactly in someFunc the error originates. i.e. in this case, which class __init__ is attached to. Is there a way to get a full stack trace in Pdb?

  • Accessing CSR extension stack in M2Crypto

    - by Charles Duffy
Howdy! I have a certificate signing request with an extension stack added. When building a certificate based on this request, I would like to be able to access that stack to use in creating the final certificate. However, while M2Crypto.X509.X509 has a number of helpers for accessing extensions (get_ext, get_ext_at and the like), M2Crypto.X509.Request appears to provide only a member for adding extensions, but no way to inspect the extensions already associated with a given object. Am I missing something here?

  • Clean Stack Traces in Groovy using Eclipse?

    - by yar
I am using Groovy in a Java Swing application as part of my plan to force-feed myself dynamic languages until I like them (which is happening, partly). My stack traces are filled with Groovy stuff like org.codehaus.groovy.runtime.callsite.ConstructorSite$ConstructorSiteNoUnwrapNoCoerce.callConstructor is there a way to get Eclipse to remove all of that codehaus stuff (filter stack traces, basically)? Edit: I can do this from the command-line with grep (well, not yet) so it's not so bad, but inside of Eclipse would be great too.

  • Visual Studio stack trace in notepad++

    - by LoveMeSomeCode
This is probably just a setting I'm not seeing, but when I get a stack trace out of Visual Studio's exception helper dialog, it has \r\n after each "line" in the call stack. When I copy this and paste it into Notepad++, it shows up as literally \r\n, visible in the document. Of course I'd like these to be interpreted as CR LF, so everything's on a different line. Anyone know how to do this?

  • Get crashing application stack trace

That's why the question if there's no other way to get a stack trace so I can then have a look.

  • Do you have any “Family Feud” style questions and answers for a game for high school students?

    - by Ben Jakuben
I am gathering questions and responses in math, science, and technology for a "Family Feud" style game for high school students. I am having trouble finding and thinking of questions, especially in the technology realm. Technology (programming or general tech) questions are preferred. If you have never seen the game show, "Family Feud" involves two teams trying to guess the most popular responses to questions asked to a group of 100 respondents. The team must guess all the popular responses to get the points for the question. For example, if the question is, "What are the major tags in HTML 4.0?", the responses might be: P (64 votes) DIV (16 votes) TABLE (8 votes) BLINK (4 votes)

  • Where to go after Adobe Flex? [closed]

    - by jan halfar
After this post http://blogs.adobe.com/flex/2011/11/your-questions-about-flex.html and especially this paragraph: ... Does Adobe recommend we use Flex or HTML5 for our enterprise application development? In the long-term, we believe HTML5 will be the best technology for enterprise application development. We also know that, currently, Flex has clear benefits for large-scale client projects typically associated with desktop application profiles. ... Make no mistake, the days of Flex are over. Thus a lot of people are asking themselves: Which technology(ies) will solve their and their customers problems in a future without flex? P.S.: Obviously the correct answer for adobe would have been " ...Since we believe, that HTML5 will be the best technology enterprise application development, we will ensure that it will be targeted by future releases of the Flex framework ..."

  • what else except web development is a good choice for freelancing? [closed]

    - by Sali
I'm looking for a technology that when I learn I can build useful things that brings money by selling what I have built. I tried web development but Ifound that there are many things that I have to learn: html, css, javascript, ajax, jquery ,etc. I need to focus on one thing and learning it from scratch and continue learning if there is any update in that technology rather than learning new things in css and javascript and the server side language. I want to focus! However, I'm not sure what is going on in the future of technology and I need to learn something for freelancing. could you tell what is the thing thatis popular and will bring me money as good as web development?

  • How to get stack trace information for logging in production when using the GAC

    - by Jonathan Parker
I would like to get stack trace (file name and line number) information for logging exceptions etc. in a production environment. The DLLs are installed in the GAC. Is there any way to do this? This article says about putting PDB files in the GAC: You can spot these easily because they will say you need to copy the debug symbols (.pdb file) to the GAC. In and of itself, that will not work. I know this article refers to debugging with VS but I thought it might apply to logging the stacktrace also. I've followed the instructions for the answer to this question except for unchecking Optimize code which they said was optional. I copied the dlls and pdbs into the GAC but I'm still not getting the stack trace information. Here's what I get in the log file for the stack trace: OnAuthenticate at offset 161 in file:line:column <filename unknown>:0:0 ValidateUser at offset 427 in file:line:column <filename unknown>:0:0 LogException at offset 218 in file:line:column <filename unknown>:0:0 I'm using NLog. My NLog layout is: layout="${date:format=s}|${level}|${callsite}|${identity}|${message}|${stacktrace:format=Raw}" ${stacktrace:format=Raw} being the relevant part.

  • Missing line number in stack trace eventhough the PDB files are included

    - by Farzad
This is running me nuts. I have this web service implemented w/ C# using VS 2008. I publish it on IIS. I have modified the release build so the pdb files are copied along with the dlls into the target directory on inetpub. Also web.config file has debug=true. Then I call a web service that throws an exception. The stack trace does not contain the line numbers. I have no idea what I am missing here, any ideas? Additional Info: If I run the web app using VS built-in web server, it works and I get line numbers in stack trace. But if I copy the same files (pdb and dll) that the VS built-in web server is using to IIS, still the line numbers are missing in stack trace. It seems that there is something related to the IIS that ignores the pdb files! Update When I publish to IIS, all the pdb files are published under the bin directory and everything looks fine. But when I go to "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files" under the specific directory related to my project, I can see that the assembly (.dll) files are all there, but there is no pdb files. But this does not happen if I run the project using VS built-in web server. So if I copy the pdb files manually to the temp folder, I can see the line numbers. Any idea why the pdb files are not copied to the temp folder? BTW, when I attach to the worker process I can see that it says Symbols loaded!

  • Locate modules by stack address

    - by PaulH
    I have a Winodws Mobile 6.1 application running on an ARMV4I processor. Given a stack address (from unwinding an exception), I like to determine what module owns that address. Using the ToolHelpAPI, I'm able to determine most modules using the following method: HANDLE snapshot = ::CreateToolhelp32Snapshot( TH32CS_SNAPMODULE | TH32CS_GETALLMODS, 0 ); if( INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE != snapshot ) { MODULEENTRY32 mod = { 0 }; mod.dwSize = sizeof( mod ); if( ::Module32First( snapshot, &mod ) ) { do { if( stack_address > (DWORD)mod.modBaseAddr && stack_address < (DWORD)( mod.modBaseAddr + mod.modBaseSize ) ) { // Found the module! // offset = stack_address - mod.modBaseAddr break; } } while( ::Module32Next( snapshot, &mod ) ); } ::CloseToolhelp32Snapshot( snapshot ); } But, I don't always seem to be able to find a module that matches an address. For example: stack address module offset 0x03f65bd8 coredll.dll + 0x0001bbd8 0x785cab1c mylib.dll + 0x0002ab1c 0x785ca9e8 mylib.dll + 0x0002a9e8 0x785ca0a0 mylib.dll + 0x0002a0a0 0x785c8144 mylib.dll + 0x00028144 0x3001d95c ??? 0x3001dd44 ??? 0x3001db90 ??? 0x03f88030 coredll.dll + 0x0003e030 0x03f8e46c coredll.dll + 0x0004446c 0x801087c4 ??? 0x801367b4 ??? 0x8010ce78 ??? 0x801086dc ??? 0x03f8e588 coredll.dll + 0x00044588 0x785a56a4 mylib.dll + 0x000056a4 0x785bdd60 mylib.dll + 0x0001dd60 0x785bbd0c mylib.dll + 0x0001bd0c 0x785bdb38 mylib.dll + 0x0001db38 0x3001db20 ??? 0x3001dc40 ??? 0x3001a8a4 ??? 0x3001a79c ??? 0x03f67348 coredll.dll + 0x0001d348 Where do I find those stack addresses that are missing?
