• Get the wireless adapter frequency-band mode in Windows 7

  I have a dual-band 802.11n router operating in both frequency bands with the same SSID. My Windows 7 laptop has a dual-band wireless adapter. Is there a way to find out which frequency band is the one currently used by the client? Also, is there a way to set the preffered band? Thanks. EDIT1: The router is Linksys E4200 (V2) and I essentially want to keep the 2.4GHz band in the mixed-mode so that the legacy 802.11g devices can connect while allocating the 5.0GHz band for 802.11n devices. • Xen HVM guest has severe clock drift

  I am seeing a very severe clock drift on my Xen HVM VPS, rented from a hosting provider, so I don't have access to the dom0 system. I continuously run ntpd, but the clock drifts by as much as 30 seconds in 5 minutes and NTP cannot keep up. Has anyone experienced this?   Hi, I've been stuck with this problem where there are 3 steps in an asp wizard control. The first step has a radiobutton (yes and no) and based on the radio button input chosen by the user, i would need to hide or show a label in the second wizardstep. Example: Step 1: Choose 1 among the two options: Yes No (radStep1) Step 2: if the radiobutton option in the previous step was yes.. then display a label(lblStep2) in this step.. Else hide the label. I've been handling this through the jquery as i want the functionality in the aspx page itself... • Stack Overflow like Watermarks in Forms

  Hey people, I remember seeing a tutorial somewhere that talks of how to style your input forms in a more "usable" way. Essentially, you have a placeholder value and when you enter the input, it hides the hint so to speak. Now, just to be clear: I don't want the hint (placeholder value text) to disappear onFocus, but rather to go lighter when I first start typing something. Good e.gs: Check out the forms on Aardvark http://vark.com/. This is exactly how I wish to have my input forms. Our very own stackoverflow. When you try to ask a question, on clicking inside any input form, it doesn't hide the text right away. You see your cursor as well as the hint. but when you start to type, it hides the hint(I would prefer having it go to a much lighter shade rather than hiding all together, like above example). I remember very clearly reading a tutorial somewhere on the interwebz with this exact requirement, but darn forgot to bookmark it. Any suggestions/links?

  I paid somebody to build me a jQuery AJAX suggestion box script a while back. It works great. Now I'm trying to learn about it enough to modify it to do something different. Right now, the script that generates the suggestions just takes the query text and does the same check every time. Now, I want to be able to pass along additional info so different things are looked for with each instance of a search box. • Same jQuery code returns two different results – Submit Button Text

I want the other interface, eth1,to support 10.0.0.x and allow devices on that network to access the internet through my ubuntu box. I do not need dhcp on the 10.0.0.x network. • Bulk inserting and updating with Entity Framework (Probably a better alternative?)

  I have a data set of devices, addresses, and companies that I need to import into our database, with the catch that our database may already include a specific device/address/company that is included in the new data set. If that is the case, I need to update that entry with the new information in the data set, excluding addresses. We check if an exact copy of that address exists, otherwise we make a new entry. My issue is that it is very slow to attempt to grab a device/company in EF and if it exist updated it, otherwise insert it. To fix this I tried to get all the companies, devices, and addresses and insert them into respective hashmaps, and check if the identifier of the new data exists in the hashmap. This hasn't led to any performance increases. I've included my code below. Typically I would do a batch insert, I'm not sure what I would do for a batch update though. • Zend Form - how do I create these custom form elements?

• RHEL raw device (over VMware RDM) performance issues

  I'm running RHEL 5.3 over vSphere 4.0U1. I configured multiple LUNs on my NetApp (Fibre) storage, and added the RDM on two (Linux) VMs, using the Paravirtual SCSI adapter. One LUN is 100GB in size, successfully mapped to /dev/sdb on both VMs, 5 more are 500MB in size (mapped to /dev/sd{c-g}. I also created one partition per device. I have encountered two issues: First, writing directly to /dev/sdb1 gives me ~50MB/s, while any of the /dev/sd{c-g}1 gives me ~9MB/s. There is no difference in configuration of the LUNs apart from their size. I am wondering what causes this but this is not my main problem, as I would settle for 9 MB/s. I created raw devices using udev pretty straightforwardly: ACTION=="add", KERNEL=="sdb1", RUN+="/bin/raw /dev/raw/raw1 %N" per device Writing to any of the new raw devices dramatically slows down performance to just over 900KB/s. • How to tell if you are connected to Wireless B, G or N?

  I am using Windows 7 on all wired desktops and wireless laptops in my home network. I recently upgraded my Ethernet switch to Gigabit and instantly noticed an increase in throughput in wired devices. I also bought a Wireless-N WAP but with degredation in wireless file transfer speeds. I have been told that a number of reasons could affect wireless speeds including which WAP is used, how many wireless devices are connected, which security mode is used, etc. However, that remains irrelevant to my question. Each of my laptops claim to support Wireless-N but I cannot seem to figure out how to determine if the laptops are truly running Wireless-N or are connected to the WAP through some sort of mixed-mode. I do not have control of the WAP device so cannot tell what mode it is running in. Is there a way to tell which mode is being used and what the throughput is for each connected device without having access to the WAP interface?

  Hey there! I want to assemble a cheap storage sytem based on the Norco RPC-4020 Case. When searching for controllers I found this one: Intel® RAID Controller SASWT4I This is a quote form the Spec Sheet: Scalability. Supports up to 122 physical devices in SAS mode which is ideal for employing JBODs (Just a Bunch Of Disks) or up to 14 devices in RAID 0, 1, 1E/10E mode through direct connect device attachment or through expander backplane support. Does that mean I can attatch 14 SATA drives directly to the controller using SFF-8087 - 4x SATA breakout cables? That would be nice because then I can choose a mainboard that has 6 Onboard SATA and i can connect all 20 bays while only spending 155$ on the controller and like another 100$ on cables. Would that work? And why is it 14 and not 16 when there are 4 Ports? I am really confused about all the breakout/fanout/(edge-)expanding/multiplying/channel stuff...

• Drupal WebForm with CCK content types. For anonymous users.

  I am probably asking a noob question... however: I have a Drupal site that the customer has a web form where anonymous users can fill in to order some posters (there is 3 to choose from). These are free and at the moment they user just states in the body of a textarea what posters they want. The site owner wants to now add more posters and now wants the ability to have each poster listed in the web form with a field for quantity next to them. When the web for is submitted it will post the node title and quantity to the web form along with the required information. I have researched using UC but it's too much of a eCom solution for such a simple requirement. I also looked at SimpleCart, Flag and Session favorites, all of which aren't really what I need. So I am looking for a simple way to itterate over all the "Poster" content types, and display them on the webform page with a quantity numerical field to be submitted with the web form for each poster. Currently I have: CCK Poster Title Image WebForm OrderPoster Name Email Address Details What I am looking for is a page that does the following: WebForm OrderPosters: Poster 1 [form qty text input for poster 1] Poster 2 [form qty text input for poster 2] Poster 3 [form qty text input for poster 3] ... Poster n [form qty text input for posters n] Name Email Address Details I'd imagine there is a simple way to do this, but I can't seem to find articles of customizing "WebForm" forms. • Sudden loss of Wi-Fi connectivity on OS X

  Occasionally while I work, without any special provocation, I lose connectivity via Wi-Fi. Other devices connected to the same wifi network have no interruption, and the problem gets resolved once I reboot my MacBook Air, so it's definitely a local problem. Observations: The Wi-Fi symbol in the menu indicates that I'm still connected, but apps can't actually connect neither to the Internet nor to other devices in the LAN. I can't connect to an alternate Wi-Fi network (e.g. Wi-Fi tethering via iPhone). I can connect to the Internet via iPhone USB tethering but this seems to only work some of the time. Only a reboot solves the problem but a regular restart gets stuck on a grey screen with rotating wheel (after all applications have closed) and I have to do a hard reset. How should I go about troubleshooting this? It used to happen very rarely but now is becoming more frequent (approaching once every 2-3 days on average).

  I have an Ethernet connection that requires 802.1x authentication (TTLS, MSCHAPv2, name+password). My goal is to connect that to something that would then act as an WiFi AP, so I can use the connection on more devices (iPhone, notebook, etc.) Would it be possible/good idea to use Raspberry Pi for this purpose? • Linux kernel startup problems: how to analyze?

  Hello, everyone! After manually updating the kernel from 2.6.33 to 2.6.34 on my OpenSuse 11.2 Notebook, it stops after the message Loading drivers, configuring devices... This stop can be interrupted with Ctrl-C, but when the system enters runlevel 5, no partitions are mounted (but the root partition), many services fail to start, and other strange things are going on. No X11. NOTE: I manually updated the kernel many times before, it worked. Yes, I know, in case of NVidia, the driver has to be recompiled. The question is: How can I analyze the cause of the problem? Doing dmesg gives me soooo much output, I can't "map" it to the output which I see at startup. The output does not contain the string Loading drivers, configuring devices, or similar.
