• Two DHCP Servers, Block Clients for one of them?

  I am building out a kickstart network that resides on a different VLAN uses its own DHCP server. For some reason, my kickstart clients kept getting assign IPs from my primary DHCP server. The way I have it set up is that I have a primary DHCP server on this router here: 192.168.15.1 Connected to that DHCP server is a switch with the IP of 192.168.15.2. My kickstart (Scientific Linux) server is connected to that switch on two ports: Port 2 - where the kickstart server communicates to the rest of the production network via eth0. The IP assigned to the server on that interface is 192.168.15.100 (on eth0). The details are: Interface: eth0 IP: 192.168.15.100 Netmask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.15.1 Port 7 - has it's own VLAN ID (along with port 8). The kickstart server is connected to that port with the IP of 172.16.15.100 (on eth1). Again, the details are: Interface: eth1 IP: 172.16.15.100 Netmask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: none The kickstart server runs its own DHCP server and assigns them over the eth1. Most of the kick starts are built over the kickstart VLAN through port 8. To prevent the kickstart DHCP server from assigning addresses over the production network, I have the route setup like so: route add -host 255.255.255.255 dev eth1 At this point, the clients kept getting assign IPs from the 192.168.15.1 DHCP server. I need to figure out a way to block client requests from reaching that DHCP. Its should be noted that but I also build KVM hosts on the kickstart server as well, so I need those KVMs to have the ability to get DHCP requests from the 192.168.15.1 DHCP server via the bridge network once I finish resolved this particular problem. (Currently, they communicate via NAT). So what would be done to resolve this? Through iptables or some sort of routing I need to put in?   I run dnsmasq locally as a cache server, in the old days, I allow all INPUT packets from lo+, and set policy of INPUT to DROP: -A INPUT -i lo+ -j ACCEPT Now I decide to put this on the raw table to speed up rules matching, -A PREROUTING -i lo+ -j ACCEPT But that doesn't work as expected. Why? Since the packets get processed by the raw table first, then nat, then filter, why isn't that rule work the same as the old one?

  I have an ASUS ENGT440/DI1GD5 video adapter which has three output ports: D-Sub (HD-15), DVI and HDMI. I am using both the D-Sub and DVI ports, but my main monitor is connected to the DVI output. Everything works fine except for which monitor is designated the console during boot. The video adapter seems to prefer the D-Sub output for the console. When both the VGA and DVI monitors are connected, then the VGA monitor always becomes the console which displays the motherboard logo, POST information and booting progress. When only the DVI monitor is connected, then it becomes the console as desired. How do I make the video adapter always use the DVI output (instead of the VGA port) for the console while booting?

  I am reading an explanation (awesome "Parsing Techniques" by D.Grune and C.J.H.Jacobs; p.293 in the 2nd edition) and I moved forward from my last question: How to get lookahead symbol when constructing LR(1) NFA for parser? Now I have such "problem" (maybe not a problem, but rather need of confirmation from some more knowledgeable people). The authors present state in LR(0) which has reduce/shift conflict. Then they build DFA for LR(1) for the same grammar. And now they say it does not have a conflict (lookaheads at the end): S -> E . eof E -> E . - T eof E -> E . - T - and there is an edge from this state labeled - but no labeled eof. Authors says, that on eof there will be reduce, on - there will be shift. However eof is for shift as well (as lookahead). So my personal understanding of LR(1) DFA is this -- you can drop lookaheads for shifts, because they serve no purpose now -- shifts rely on input, not on lookaheads -- and after that, remove duplicates. S -> E . eof E -> E . - T So the lookahead for reduce serves as input really, because at this stage (all required input is read) it is really incoming symbol right now. For shifts, the input symbols are on the edges. So my question is this -- am I actually right about dropping lookaheads for shifts (after fully constructing DFA)?

• GLSL custom interpolation filter

  I'm currently building a fragment shader which is using several textures to render the final pixel color. The textures are not really textures, they are in fact "input data" to be used in the formula to generate the final color. The problem I've got is that the texture are getting bi-linear-filtered, and therefore the input data as well. This results in many unwanted side-effects, especially when final rendered texture is "zoomed" compared to original resolution. Removing the side effect is a complex task, and only result in "average" rendering. I was thinking : well, all my problems seems to come from the "default" bi-linear filtering on these input data. I can't move to GL_NEAREST either, since it would create "blocky" rendering. So i guess the better way to proceed is to be fully in charge of the interpolation. For this to work, i would need the input data at their "natural" resolution (so that means 4 samples), and a relative position between the sampled points. Is that possible, and if yes, how ? [EDIT] Since i started this question, i found this internet entry, which seems to (mostly) answer my needs. http://www.gamerendering.com/2008/10/05/bilinear-interpolation/ One aspect of the solution worry me though : the dimensions of the texture must be provided in an argument. It seems there is no way to "find this information transparently". Adding an argument into the rendering pipeline is unwelcomed though, since it's not under my responsibility, and translates into adding complexity for others.

  Is there a way to get rid of escape codes in terminal output? Say even if the script are sending that codes they are ignored by terminal and text displayed as is, without colors, bolds etc. I need to display terminal output on a HTML page. For now i'm using javascript to remove escape codes, but it becomes clunky cause i receive output by chars, and have to wait until all content received then update it, leading in weird effects.

• JpegBitmapEncoder.Save() throws exception when writing image with metadata to MemoryStream

  I am trying to set up metadata on JPG image what does not have it. You can't use in-place writer (InPlaceBitmapMetadataWriter) in this case, cuz there is no place for metadata in image. If I use FileStream as output - everything works fine. But if I try to use MemoryStream as output - JpegBitmapEncoder.Save() throws an exception (Exception from HRESULT: 0xC0000005). After some investigation I also found out what encoder can save image to memory stream if I supply null instead of metadata. I have ensured that the order in which the parameters are being added are in the correct order and I have gone over the OracleDbType's thoroughly though I suspect that is where my problem is. I think my problem may rest with the return value. All it does is give me the row count. I read somewhere that the return parameter must be set at the top.   I have a file with the top 1000 baby names. I want to ask the user for a name...search the file...and tell the user what rank that name is for boy names and what rank for girl names. If it isn't in boy names or girl names, it tells the user it's not among the popular names for that gender. The file is laid out like this: Rank Boy-Names Girl-Names 1 Jacob Emily 2 Michael Emma . . . Desired output for input Michael would be: Michael is 2nd most popular among boy names. If Michael is not in girl names it should say: Michael is not among the most popular girl names Though if it was, it would say: Micheal is (rank) among girl names The code I have so far is below..   I am using the below piece of XSL to select the id of the text nodes whose content has a given index. This index value in input will be relative to a spcified node whose id value is known. The criteria to select the text node is, The text node content should contain a index say 'i' relative to node say 'n' whose id value i know. 'i' and 'id of n' is got as index and nodeName from the input param as seen in the xsl. Node 'd1e5' has the text content whose index ranges from 1 to 33.
