  I downloaded: Microsoft® Visual Studio® 2010 and Team Foundation Server® 2010 Beta 2 for Microsoft® Virtual PC 2007 SP1 Image When I go into the default installation of TFS project site in Sharepoint ( http://vs2010beta2/sites/DefaultCollection/IBuySpy/Dashboards/ProjectDashboard_wss.aspx ) I get this error on the webparts. There are no accessible team projects in this Team Project Collection. Contact your Team Foundation Server administrator. In the Team Server Admin Console - Team Project Collection - Team Projects tab the projects are there. This is the default installation. Any suggestions???

  My Application (Vb.net, Access 2003/2007) is to scan Access Database files for activex controls and to generate report accordingly. Problem: Getting an error like: "Insufficient memory to continue the execution of the program." The above error occurs while scanning for older version of Access files like prior to office 2000. And the line of code where I get this is as follows: Dim oForm As Access.Form Dim oAccess as Access.Application oForm = oAccess.Forms(objForms.Name) But it opens the file and form as well. Need Help: Whether it is possible to read the file (Access Forms and Reports) or not? Please provide me reference or any solution.

• Is it OK to allow users to query an OLTP SQL Server database with excel?

  I have a SQL Server 2005 database used by several applications. Some users wish to query the database directly from excel. I can understand this, because it is a useful tool for adhoc queries and then getting the data in a format that's easily transmitted and manipulated by other users. My question is: Does Excel (say 2003/2007) do its querying in a way that won't cause concurency issues? Or is it done in such a way that a seperate datawarehouse database needs to be made to handle this scenario? Thanks for any advise.

• Exchange 2010 and ESE Backup API

  Exchange 2010 does not support the ESE API for doing backups like it did in 2003 and 2007 according to MSDN. I Quote: "Exchange 2010 no longer supports the ESE streaming APIs for backup and restore of program files or data. Instead, Exchange 2010 supports only VSS-based backups." So my question is, if this is the case, why is the DLL (ESEBCLI2.DLL) still shipped with exchange 2010? I found it under C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Bin. Am I missing something here?

I can name following techniques that I find especially useful: Non-blocking notifications (floating dialogs like in Firefox3 or Vista's pop-up messages in tray area) Absence of "Save" button MS OneNote as an example. IM clients can save conversation history automatically Integrated search Search not only through help files but rather make UI elements searchable. Vista made a good step toward such GUI. Scout addin Microsoft Office was a really great idea. Context oriented UI (Ribbon bar in MS Office 2007) Do you implement something like listed techniques in your software? Edit: As Ryan P mentioned, one of the best way to create usable app is to put yourself in user's place. I totally agree with it, but what I want to see in this topic is specific techniques (like those I mentioned above) rather than general recommendations.

  I have been going mad trying to figure out why my scripts weren't working, until I started copying and pasting sample source code directly from a few websites only to have it fail there as well. I am getting the following error in my VBScripts: C:\temp\vbs\script.vbs(19, 53) Microsoft VBScript compilation error: Expected statement' For a line of code that looks like this: wdoc.Application.Selection.Find.Execute Replace:=wdReplaceAll This is interfacing with Microsft Word in Office 2007 to conduct a search and replace. Index 53 point directly to the := part of the assignment. Since this type of syntax doesn't work on my machine and I am using it from several websites, I was wondering if the cscript.exe I use is out of date. Am I not calling cscript properly?

  I need to copy the item that user just added (for example. myresume.doc or financial.xls) with the metadata (doc lib obtains the columns from content type, ct obtains the columns from site colum) and copy the item with metadata in a folder called "NativeFile". Every doc library has this folder. I know itemadded can be used but then I heard itemadded fires before user have a chance to complete the metadata for the item they just added. What are my options?   Hello , Can a crystal report be scaled to fit page? I'm hoping to achieve something similar to Microsoft Excel's Scale To Fit feature wherein a large spreadsheet can be scaled to fit a 8.5"x 11" page. (On MS Excel 2007 goto Page Layout Scale To Fit). Im searching of a way to make a large report fit into a smaller page during print. for example a report designed in Legal(8.5"x 14") page must be able to shrink when print previewed for Letter(8.5"x 11") page. In my crystal report, it should be scaled to fit the page by default. I was thinking maybe theres a Crystal Report Setting or C# code technique that I missed out. Any hint or link to the right direction is appreciated. Thanks!

• Links to ASP.NET application in MS Word document

  I am observing a weird behavior when clicking links to my ASP.NET application in MS Word 2003 / 2007 document. I have IE8 installed. When I click a link in the document the request that is sent has the user-agent IE7(!?). A new session object is created. Right after that out of nowhere a second request appears this time having user-agent IE8. More over, when I click anything on the requested page, a new session object is once again created, so I cannot rely on anything that has been persisted in the session. Why is it like that?

How can I get my custom implementation to exhibit the same behavior as the BCL version? Or, asked another way, since F# has (implicitly) the concept of tuple parameters, curried parameters, and BCL parameters, and I know how to distinguish between curried and tuple-style, how can I force the third style (a la BCL methods)? Let me know if this is unclear.

• Filtering forms in MS Access

  I have a simple form showing products from my database. Each product has a foreign key to manufacturer_id . I would like to filter my form by manufacturer_id instead of default product_id. How I can do that ? I know I must create a macro. Also I've already created a query, that takes manufacturer's name as argument and returns manufacturer_id. So basically it should work in this way, that when I press 'Filter' button on my form, it runs macro that opens my query asking for manufacturer's name. And when the name is returned the whole form is filtered (so somewhere there should be comparison between manufacturer_id in product and that returned from query, but I can't manage to do that). • SQL Server mirroring connection doesnt work

  I have 2 servers srv-erp1 and srv-erp3. I made them mirror on each other. All setup is done by lots of tutorials and examples. But when I call ALTER DATABASE MIRROR_TEST SET PARTNER = 'TCP://srv-erp3:5022' It`s response is: The server network address "TCP://srv-erp3:5022" can not be reached or does not exist. Check the network address name and that the ports for the local and remote endpoints are operational. I go to cmd on srv-erp3 and use netstat -an... this port is listening. I go to cmd on srv-erp1 and use telnet srv-erp3 5022...and its ok to connect. All firewalls are turned off. The only difference in config of srvrs is that srv-erp1 is on Windows Server 2003 R2 x64, and srv-erp3 is on Windows 2008 R2 x64 What can be the reason of this problem? Regards, Dmitry.

  I've found a SourceForge project with a solid core that I would like to improve. The project hasn't been updated since 2007 so I assume it is "dead". I sent an e-mail asking to become a contributor to the listed project manager last week but still haven't received a response. The project is licensed under the GNU GPL v2. I would like to contribute to the current project but that doesn't appear to be possible. Can I modify the current source version of the project and release this modified project? I would keep the same license on the modified project.

I am testing on localhost, for single user, it returns very fast. But when I try 1000, it takes forever, not even mentioned 40k users. Anyway to optimise/improve this code? EDIT: By the way, each of the others 20 tables has ~20 - 40k records

  WordPress extraordinaires, I need your help! I need to be able to list the archives, but in a slightly different way than the WP codex, or an hour of Googling will show me. I need the months of the year, as the generic archive function, but only for one year at a time. So, list all the months in 2007. I'll need to be able to use this multiple times in the same template too, for different years. I've got a feeling query_posts might be the way, but I'm not too sure. Anyone got some ideas?

• Excel vba: error hiding calculated field in Pivot table

  I have written several Subs to show/hide fields in a PivotTable. Now I am trying to do the same with a calculated field, but I get an error when hiding it. I took my code from the recorder and the recorder's code also halts on the last line. I googled the error message, without serious result. Sub PrRemove() 'remove PR Dim pt As PivotTable Set pt = ActiveSheet.PivotTables("MyPivot") pt.PivotFields("MyField").Orientation = xlHidden '<- here is the error End Sub The same code works fine if MyField is a normal field (not a calculated one). I am using Excel 2007 with SP2. Any clue ?

• unable to retract Sharepoint solutions

  Hi all: I am having trouble retracting solutions in SharePoint 2007. I used both the retract solution button and the stsadm command in command line. The timer job was created in both instances, but it never gets run... it just sits in the timer job definition. The Status of the target just said "Retracting (scheduled at m/dd/yyyy MM:SS AM/PM)". I've waited for a long time and nothing happens. Has anyone experienced this before, and does anyone have a solution to this problem? Thanks.

  I have my Access 2007 database configured to use "Custom" groups in the navigation pane. I've grouped all my tables in a way that makes sense. However, whenever I update a link table, it loses its grouping. I have not been able to find a way to avoid this. Since it seems to be unavoidable, I'd like to simply have a macro that adds the table back to the right group programatically. I have not found any examples on how to do this. Any suggestions?

  Hello, So I downloaded the latest version of zChaff (2007), and was trying out some very simple SAT problems. But zChaff does not output the solution (variable assignments). A very simple example input: p cnf 2 2 1 2 0 1 -2 0 And what I get: c 2 Clauses are true, Verify Solution successful. Instance Satisfiable 1 -2 Random Seed Used 0 Max Decision Level 1 Num. of Decisions 2 ( Stack + Vsids + Shrinking Decisions ) 0 + 1 + 0 Original Num Variables 2 Original Num Clauses 2 Original Num Literals 4 Added Conflict Clauses 0 Num of Shrinkings 0 Deleted Conflict Clauses 0 Deleted Clauses 0 Added Conflict Literals 0 Deleted (Total) Literals 0 Number of Implication 2 Total Run Time 5.1e-05 RESULT: SAT I can see the 1 -2 on the left of "Random Seed Used", but shouldn't this be outputing the variable assignments as "v ..." ?   It is possible to repurpose a Word builtin command in Word 2007 using the customUI.xml file. Example: <customUI xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2009/07/customui"> <commands> <command idMso="Save" onAction="MySave"/> </commands> </customUI> I then have to define a callback function in VBA which is used instead of the builtin function: 'Callback for Save onAction Sub MySave(control As IRibbonControl, ByRef cancelDefault) someFancyPreparationFunction oldSaveFunction ' Where, how? someOtherFancyAfterWorkFunction End Sub And here is my problem, if I want to reuse internal functionality in my repurposed Function, I don't know how to access it. My example is trivial and the save could be easily rebuilt by a call to ThisDocument.save but as I said, it is just an example to show the problem. A call to CommandBars.ExecuteMso('Save') would call my repurposed function and not the original one. Any ideas on how to access the internal functionality after repurposing would be very appreciated!

• Ms Excel Problem Linking Range in Source Document to Custom Function in Target Document

  I have some customer MS Excel VBA code (MS Excel 2007) that takes a range as input and then does some work on it (it is quite a large range). I want to use a separate excel document as the source of the range data. If I have both the source and target document open then the function works just fine. If I have only the target document open I get #Value! returned and stepping through in the debugger I see "Error 2023" in the data value passed in. Any ideas how I make this work without having to open both spreadsheets simultaneously?

• Terminate an inactive socket connection from TIdTCPServer

  We have an application which listens for incoming TCP requests using the Indy 10.1.1 components that ship with Delphi 2007. Occassionally we receive incoming connections which are not from our client application. Typically, one of two things happens: 1) the connection is terminated by the client before any data is received, or 2) data is received which we're not expecting and we manually terminate the connection. However, we've received connections where no data is received and appear to persist until the client terminates the connection from their end. Is there a way to terminate such a connection from the server if no data is received after a specified amount of time?
