  • Unit Testing: hard dependency MessageBox.Show()

    - by Sean B
    What ways can the SampleConfirmationDialog be unit tested? The SampleConfirmationDialog would be exercised via acceptance tests, however how could we unit test it, seeing as MessageBox is not abstract and no matching interface? public interface IConfirmationDialog { /// <summary> /// Confirms the dialog with the user /// </summary> /// <returns>True if confirmed, false if not, null if cancelled</returns> bool? Confirm(); } /// <summary> /// Implementation of a confirmation dialog /// </summary> public class SampleConfirmationDialog : IConfirmationDialog { /// <summary> /// Confirms the dialog with the user /// </summary> /// <returns>True if confirmed, false if not, null if cancelled</returns> public bool? Confirm() { return MessageBox.Show("do operation x?", "title", MessageBoxButton.YesNo, MessageBoxImage.Question) == MessageBoxResult.Yes; } }

  • Implement VOIP in iphone and ipad.

    - by user339994
Hi, Does anybody is aware of implementing VOIP feature in iphone and ipad. The Things for which i need clarity is, By using which third party library/protocol can i implement this feature? or is der any in built classed available in objective c which i can make use of?? Is there any Apple store accepted iphone application which uses VOIP iplementation?? If so where can i get implementation details of it. This is a generic question. Can we use any third party's in our iphone application or do we need to get any special permission from Apple reg the usage of third party's used. Please let me know if needed more details reg this. Thanks , Santhana

  • calling resize on std vector of pointers crashed

    - by user11869
    The problem can be reproduced using VS 2013 Express. It crashed when internal vector implementation tried to deallocate the original vector. However, the problem can solved by using 'new' instead of 'malloc'. Anyone can shed some light on this? struct UndirectedGraphNode { int label; vector<UndirectedGraphNode *> neighbors; UndirectedGraphNode(int x) : label(x) {}; }; int main(int argc, char** argv) { UndirectedGraphNode* node1 = (UndirectedGraphNode*)malloc(sizeof(UndirectedGraphNode)); node1->label = 0; node1->neighbors.resize(2); return 0; }

  • WCF methods sharing a dictionary

    - by YeomansLeo
I'm creating a WCF Service Library and I have a question regarding thread-safety consuming a method inside this library, here is the full implementation that I have until now. namespace WCFConfiguration { [ServiceBehavior(InstanceContextMode = InstanceContextMode.PerCall, ConcurrencyMode = ConcurrencyMode.Single)] public class ConfigurationService : IConfigurationService { ConcurrentDictionary<Tuple<string, string>, string> configurationDictionary = new ConcurrentDictionary<Tuple<string, string>, string>(); public void Configuration(IEnumerable<Configuration> configurationSet) { Tuple<string, string> lookupStrings; foreach (var config in configurationSet) { lookupStrings = new Tuple<string, string>(config.BoxType, config.Size); configurationDictionary.TryAdd(lookupStrings, config.RowNumber); } } public void ScanReceived(string boxType, string size, string packerId = null) { } } } Imagine that I have a 10 values in my configurationDictionary and many people want to query this dictionary consuming ScanReceived method, are those 10 values be shared for each of the clients that request ScanReceived? Do I need to change my ServiceBehavior? The Configuration method is only consumed by one person by the way.

  • How to call a function though Control.BeginInvoke in a signal-slot-like fashion?

    - by Dimitri C.
I'd like a delegate that calls a function in a different thread when it is invoked. Currently, I'm using the following implementation: delegate void someFunctionDelegate(); //... someFunctionDelegate callBackFunction = someForm.SomeFunction; someForm.Invoke(someFunctionDelegate); However, I'd like a more compact form, combining both the someForm instance and the SomeForm.SomeFunction member function. I'm thinking of something like this: var callBackFunction = new AsynchronousCrossThreadDelegate(someForm, SomeForm.SomeFunction); callBackFunction(); // Should call someForm.BeginInvoke(SomeForm.SomeFunction); Is there a way to do so in C#/.NET? Update I'm looking for a solution that will work for functions with 0 or more parameters.

  • Interface issue

    - by peter
    i added a property 'WrmVersion' in interface IResourcePolicy but i am not getting those thing in the implementation side means here it should come in the List view data. means SubItems.Add(((IResourcePolicy)Data).WrmVersion is not getting This is the interface public interface IResourcePolicy { DataVersion WrmVersion { get; set; } bool ResourcePolicyEnabled { get; set; } } i am implementing it in public new IResourcePolicy Data { get { return (IResourcePolicy)base.Data; } } protected override void OnUpdate() { if(Data != null) { Text = base.Data.Name; if(SubItems.Count == 1) { SubItems.Add(((IResourcePolicy)Data).ResourcePolicyEnabled.ToString()); }

  • Looking for suggestions about an architecture of a MultiThreaded app.

    - by Dimitri
Hello everyone. I am looking to develop a multithreaded application that will be running in unconditional loop and processing high volume of data. High volume is 2000+ records per minute. Processing will involve data retrieval, calculations and data updates. I need the application to perform so that there is virtually no back log, meaning i need to be able to finish up all of the 2000 points in one minute or even faster. Our current implementation features a multithreaded application that is spawn multiple times (from 10 to 20) and we are noticing that it's not handling data as expected and i even feel that instances of the application compete with each other for processor time and eventually if not slowing, not benefiting each other for sure. I would like to know what would be the best approach: have a single instance running but maximize threads that can run simultaneously? or is there other ways i don't know? I'm open to suggestions. Thank you in advance

  • check whether fgets would block

    - by lv
Hi, I was just wondering whether in C is it possible to peek in the input buffer or perform similar trickery to know whether a call to fgets would block at a later time. Java allows to do something like that by calling BufferedReader.ready(), this way I can implement console input something like this: while (on && in.ready()) { line = in.readLine(); /* do something with line */ if (!in.ready()) Thread.sleep(100); } this allows an external thread to gracefully shutdown the input loop by setting on to false; I'd like to perform a similar implementation in C without resorting to non portable tricks, I already know I can make a "timed out fgets" under unix by resorting to signals or (better, even though requering to take care of buffering) reimplement it on top of recv/select, but I'd prefer something that would work on windows too. TIA

  • How to invoke RESTful WCF service method with multiple parameters?

    - by Scythe
I have a RESTful WCF service with a method declared like this: [OperationContract(Name = "IncrementAge")] [WebInvoke(UriTemplate = "/", Method = "POST", ResponseFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json)] Person IncrementAge(Person p); Here's the implementation: public Person IncrementAge(Person p) { p.age++; return p; } So it takes the Person complex type, increments the age property by one, and spits it back, using JSON serialization. I can test the thing by sending a POST message to the service like this: POST http://localhost:3602/RestService.svc/ HTTP/1.1 Host: localhost:3602 User-Agent: Fiddler Content-Type: application/json Content-Length: 51 {"age":25,"firstName":"Hejhaj","surName":"Csuhaj"} This works. What if I'd like to have a method like this? Person IncrementAge(Person p, int amount); So it'd have multiple parameters. How should I construct the POST message for this to work? Is this possible? Thanks

  • Working with three dimensional data in an HTML (ASP.NET) table.

    - by ProfK
I am working on the prototype for a scheduling application on an intranet system. The application is for scheduling and tracking promotional workers at various locations on various dates (hence location, date, workers dimensions). Currently, only for prototyping, I am generating a data table of location/date, and from this I iteratively build an HTML table (asp:Table control). On visiting each cell, I query for people working that location-date and populate the cell accordingly. This is very inefficiant, and will at worst be improved by querying cached data for the whole location/date grid. I'm looking around for established patterns and techniques for dealing with scenarios like this in HTML in general, maybe a visualisation library for jQuery or something, and for ASP.NET in particular, maybe a library for implementation on a GridView etc. Am I going in the right direction with this, and if so, what recomendations are there regarding the previous paragraph?

  • How do I get the users location latitude and longitude?

    - by kevin Mendoza
I need to access the users location in this method contained in the mainViewController -(void)loadAnnotations{ [mapView removeAnnotations:mapView.annotations]; CLLocationCoordinate2D workingCoordinate; workingCoordinate.latitude= //here i need the users latitude workingCoordinate.longitude= //here i need the users longitude NSLog(@" this is %@", workingCoordinate.latitude); iProspectLiteAnnotation *tempMine = [[iProspectLiteAnnotation alloc] initWithCoordinate:workingCoordinate]; [tempMine setTitle:@"Present Location"]; [tempMine setAnnotationType:iProspectLiteAnnotationTypeUser]; [mapView addAnnotation:tempMine]; } however the mainViewController is already set to <fipsideViewControllerDelegate> What should I add to the header file and the implementation file to poll the location Manager for the users current latitude and longitude?

  • Active Record's SessionScope in BL or DL ?

    - by StupidDeveloper
Imagine that I have 3 projects: DL, BL and WS. DL contains Active Record implementation with all the mappings, BL has some logic (calling various DL methods) and finally WebService project exposes some BL methods (using some DTO mappings). The questions are: Should I put all data related methods in DL or is it allowed to use SessionScope in BL ? There are some complicated stuff that is right now done on BL. Should/can BL operate on classes-mappings of the Active record? The question is where should be the translation to DTO be made (at the BL level? ) ?

  • Erlang: configuring cover via rebar

    - by exterm
My project is using a websocket server. Only for testing purposes, I also have an erlang websocket client implementation which resides in the test/ folder along with the tests. Now, when I run the tests via rebar with {cover_enabled, true} in my rebar.config, I also get coverage reported for the modules of the websocket client. I don't want this in my reports. Cover documentation says I should create a cover specification file containing {excl_mods, [websocket_client]}. But how do I convince rebar to use this file? Cover documentation: http://www.erlang.org/doc/apps/common_test/cover_chapter.html http://www.erlang.org/doc/man/cover.html rebar: https://github.com/basho/rebar

  • Listing C/C++ functions (Code analysis in Unix)

    - by Jond
Whether we're maintaining unfamiliar code or checking out the implementation details of an Apache module it can help if we can quickly traverse the code and build up an overview of what we're looking at. Grep serves most of my daily needs but there are some cases where it just wont do. Here's a common example of how it can help. To find the definition of a PHP function I'm interested in I can type this at the command line: grep -r "function myfunc" . This could be adapted very quickly to C or C++ if we know the return type, but things become more complicated if, say, I want to list every method that my class provides: grep "function " ./src/mine.class.php Since there's no single keyword that denotes a function or method in C++ and because it's generally more complex syntax, I think I'd need some kind of static code analysis tool, smart use of the C Preprocessor or blind faith the coder followed strict code guidelines (# of whitespace, position of curlies etc) to get these sorts of results. What would you recommend? p.s. be nice, this is my first post ;-) :p

  • How to add response headers based on Content-type; getting Content-type before the response is commi

    - by Bozho
I want to set the Expires header for all image/* and text/css. I'm doing this in a Filter. However: before calling chain.doFilter(..) the Content-type is not yet "realized" after calling chain.doFilter(..) the Content-type is set, but so is content-length, which forbids adding new headers (at least in Tomcat implementation) I can use the extensions of the requested resource, but since some of the css files are generated by richfaces by taking them from inside jar-files, the name of the file isn't x.css, but is /xx/yy/zz.xcss/DATB/.... So, is there a way to get the Content-type before the response is committed.

  • Validation of method parameters

    - by Anton Tsivarev
I have a RESTful web service. For implementation using JAX-RS (Jersey). Have the following method: public void foo (@PathParam ("name") String uuid) { ... } I need to do validation of input parameters. And if data invalid throw WebApplicationException. I added my custom annotation CheckUuid (extends ): public void foo (@PathParam ("name") @CheckUuid String uuid) { ... } Is it possible to do validation using annotations on a stage when the method chosen, but not yet called? For example using PreProcessInterceptor?

  • Given a short (2-week) sprint, is it ever acceptable to forgo TDD to "get things done"?

    - by Ben Aston
Given a short sprint, is it ever acceptable to forgo TDD to "get things done" within the sprint. For example a given piece of work might need say 1/3 of the sprint to design the object model around an existing implementation. Under this scenario you might well end up with implemented code, say half way through the sprint, without any tests (implementing unit tests during this "design" stage would add significant effort and the tests would likely be thrown away a few times until the final "design" is settled upon). You might then spend a day or two in the second week adding in unit / integration tests after the fact. Is this acceptable?

  • Undefined behaviour with non-virtual destructors - is it a real-world issue?

    - by Roddy
Consider the following code: class A { public: A() {} ~A() {} }; class B: public A { B() {} ~B() {} }; A* b = new B; delete b; // undefined behaviour My understanding is that the C++ standard says that deleting b is undefined behaviour - ie, anything could happen. But, in the real world, my experience is that ~A() is always invoked, and the memory is correctly freed. if B introduces any class members with their own destructors, they won't get invoked, but I'm only interested in the simple kind of case above, where inheritance is used maybe to fix a bug in one class method for which source code is unavailable. Obviously this isn't going to be what you want in non-trivial cases, but it is at least consistent. Are you aware of any C++ implementation where the above does NOT happen, for the code shown?

  • What could possibly cause this error(when declaring an object inside a class) ? //noobie question

    - by M4design
I'm battling with this assignment :) I've got two classes: Ocean and Grid. When I declare an object of the Grid inside the Ocean: unsigned int sharkCount; Grid grid; The compiler/complainer says: error C2146: syntax error : missing ';' before identifier 'grid' Can you possibly predict what produces this error with the limited info' I provided? It seems that as if the Ocean doesn't like the Grid class. Could this be because of the poor implementation of the grid class. BTW the Grid has a default constructor. Yet the error happens in compiling time!. Thanks. EDIT: They're each in separate header file, and I've included the Grid.h in the Ocean.h.

  • Java Synchronized Write Block

    - by ikurtz
im new to java and i have a question regarding Synchronized. i have the following code for writing to network (simple implementation for now): public void networkSendData(byte[] data){ try { out.write(data); out.flush(); } catch (IOException e) { } } i was wondering if there is a need for block level Synchronized here as im am writing the whole data at once. or is there a chance for race condition? i ask because the data to write is coming for multiple sources. thank you.

  • Design question?

    - by Mohamed
I am building music app, where user can do several tasks including but not limited to listening song, like song, recommend song to a friend and extra. currently I have this model: class Activity(models.Model): activity = models.TextField() user = models.ForeignKey(User) date = models.DateTimeField(auto_now=True) so far I thought about two solutions. 1. saving a string to database. e.g "you listened song xyz" 2. create a dictionary about the activity and save to the database using pickle or json. e.g. dict_ = {"activity_type":"listening", "song":song_obj} I am leaning to the second implementation, but not quite sure. so what do you think about those two methods? do you know better way to achieve the goal?

  • Purpose of IF, ELSE, FOR macros ?

    - by psihodelia
I have a source code of a library which has a lot of strange IF, ELSE, FOR, etc. macros for all common C-keywords instead of using just usual if,else, for, while keywords. These macros are defined like this: #define IF( a) if( increment_if(), a) where increment_if() function is defined so: static __inline void increment_if( void) { // If the "IF" operator comes just after an "ELSE", its counter // must not be incremented. ... //implementation } I don't really understand, what is the purpose of such macros? This library is for a real-time application and I suppose that using such macros must slow-down an application.

  • how to create resources without VS C++ 2008 creating MFC files

    - by numerical25
I am creating a WIN32 application and I want most of all my application events to be made through the message queue. But everytime I create a dialog box or any resource like that. The IDE auto generates code that I don't necessarily need. I believe it's MFC code not sure. here it is. // dlgChangeDevice.cpp : implementation file // #include "stdafx.h" #include "ZFXD3D.h" #include "dlgChangeDevice.h" // dlgChangeDevice dialog IMPLEMENT_DYNAMIC(dlgChangeDevice, CDialog) dlgChangeDevice::dlgChangeDevice(CWnd* pParent /*=NULL*/) : CDialog(dlgChangeDevice::IDD, pParent) { } dlgChangeDevice::~dlgChangeDevice() { } void dlgChangeDevice::DoDataExchange(CDataExchange* pDX) { CDialog::DoDataExchange(pDX); } BEGIN_MESSAGE_MAP(dlgChangeDevice, CDialog) ON_CBN_SELCHANGE(IDC_COMBO5, &dlgChangeDevice::OnCbnSelchangeCombo5) END_MESSAGE_MAP() // dlgChangeDevice message handlers void dlgChangeDevice::OnCbnSelchangeCombo5() { // TODO: Add your control notification handler code here } Not sure what it is but I don't need it. I want to retrieve all my code through the dialog message queue. So what should I do ?? Just disregard it and delete it. Will a hurt anything by doing so ??

  • How to implement message passing in GNUradio?

    - by xuandl
I need to implement message passing, my idea is to make some sort of message source (I inherit from public gr_sync_block) that works as a controller for another block (it has to send a message each 6 minutes). I read that is necessary to inherit from gnuradio::block -and by the way, installing grextras is mandatory-. In the .h file I added the #include and inherited from block"class JDFM_API jdfm_control : public gr_sync_block, public gnuradio::block". I know that I have redefine some things like the gnuradio::block constructor but I dont know what msg_signature is, I also don't get the relation between block's parameters and work parameter, the last thing that I am not sure is if I still can use gnuradio-companion if I create a block like this. I haven't been able to find a simple example of messages implementation. If anyone can guide me or show me an example, it would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

  • Is there a design pattern for this ?

    - by ytrewq
I have a component that needs to call a specific service depending on the input it receives. So my component has to look at the input and based on a configuration that says "for this input call this service with this data" needs to call the proper service. The services have a common signature method and a specific one (each). I thought about an abstract class that includes the signatures for all three methods. The implementation for the two services will override all three methods (throwing NotImplementedException for the methods that are not supported by current service). A component that could be initialized with a map (that for each input type will have the type of the service to be called) will also be defined. Do you have a better approach to cope this scenario ?
