• Changing the size of the UISearchBar TextField ?

  I have a UITableView with an Index on the side; I want to add a UISearchBar to it, but the index overlaps with the "x" to clear the search. I've noticed in the Contacts application, the textfield within the UISearchBar is resized to accommodate this, but I can't work out how to do this in my own app. I have tried the following in my viewDidLoad, but it does not seem to work. UITextField * textField = (UITextField *)[[self.search subviews] objectAtIndex:0]; CGRect r = textField.frame; [textField setFrame:CGRectMake(r.origin.x, r.origin.y, r.size.height, r.size.width-30)]; Any ideas?

• page not show after issuing zf command

  hello guys, just simple question, recently i have setup a web server to build project using zend framework, after setup and see those welcome page saying that you are creating websites powered by zendframework, then i try issuing command, $ zf create controller alert i get the message that saying that i've successfully create controller, view and so on, but when i try to navigate to the page by URL, ex: www.mywebapp.com/alert the page is broken, i've check those tuts but none of them showing this case. can some one define which step i've skip? update: (25/5/2010) so i've found that there is no problem, is just that i've not configured properly my route to my web apps, so i have to type URL like this: www.mywebapp.com/index.php/alert how am I going to change this? i mean i want to explode "index.php" out of URL.

• How to parse a Zend URL for parameters?

  I am trying to extract the GET parameters from a ZF REST URL. It's not the current request and I don't want to call the URL or execute the route, I just need the parameters. I'm looking for a utility function like parse_url(), but for the Zend REST format. Is there one, or do I have to reinvent the wheel? I've tried a few things like creating a new Zend_Controller_Request_Http but the parameters aren't being populated. It is a valid HTTP URL. Edit: Upon request, a sample Zend URL: http://localhost/index/index/param1/foo/param2/bar So I am just trying to get param1 and param2 out of this URL.

• Rails: Routing to a different controller based on request format

  I'm writing an app where I want all requests for HTML to be handled by the same controller action. I have some other routes that are JSON-specific. Here's what my routes look like: Blog::Application.routes.draw do constraints format: :json do resources :posts end match "(*path)" => "web#index" end The problem is that constraints is being interpreted as "this route only works with the specified format" rather than "skip this route and try the next one if the request is not in the specified format." In other words, navigating to /posts in the browser gives me a 406 Not Acceptable because the URL is constrained to the JSON format. Instead, I want it to fall through to web#index if the request is for HTML, and hit the resourceful route if the request is for JSON. How can this be achieved? (Using Rails 3.2.9.)

• Should I skip authorization, with CanCan, of an action that instantiates a resource?

  I am writing a web app to pick random lists of cards from larger, complete sets of cards. I have a Card model and a CardSet model. Both models have a full RESTful set of 7 actions (:index, :new, :show, etc). The CardSetsController has an extra action for creating random sets: :random. # app/models/card_set.rb class CardSet < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :creator, :class_name => "User" has_many :memberships has_many :cards, :through => :memberships # app/models/card.rb class Card < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :creator, :class_name => "User" has_many :memberships has_many :card_sets, :through => :memberships I have added Devise for authentication and CanCan for authorizations. I have users with an 'editor' role. Editors are allowed to create new CardSets. Guest users (Users who have not logged in) can only use the :index and :show actions. These authorizations are working as designed. Editors can currently use both the :random and the :new actions without any problems. Guest users, as expected, cannot. # app/controllers/card_sets_controller.rb class CardSetsController < ApplicationController before_filter :authenticate_user!, :except => [:show, :index] load_and_authorize_resource I want to allow guest users to use the :random action, but not the :new action. In other words, they can see new random sets, but not save them. The "Save" button on the :random action's view is hidden (as designed) from the guest users. The problem is, the first thing the :random action does is build a new instance of the CardSet model to fill out the view. When cancan tries to load_and_authorize_resource a new CardSet, it throws a CanCan::AccessDenied exception. Therefore, the view never loads and the guest user is served a "You need to sign in or sign up before continuing" message. # app/controllers/card_sets_controllers.rb def random @card_set = CardSet.new( :name => "New Set of 10", :set_type => "Set of 10" ) I realize that I can tell load_and_authorize_resource to skip the :random action by passing :except => :random to the call, but that just feels "wrong" for some reason.   I've just begun to explore the PTL and have a design question. My Scenario: I have a list of URLs that each refer to an image. I want each image to be downloaded in parallel. As soon as at least one image is downloaded, I want to execute a method that does something with the downloaded image. That method should NOT be parallelized -- it should be serial. I think the following will work but I'm not sure if this is the right way to do it. Because I have separate classes for collecting the images and for doing "something" with the collected images, I end up passing around an array of Tasks which seems wrong since it exposes the inner workings of how images are retrieved. But I don't know a way around it. In reality there is more to both of these methods but that's not important for this. Just know that they really shouldn't be lumped into one large method that both retrieves and does something with the image. • Counting distinct and duplicate attribute values in an array

  I have an array of users that's sorted in descending order based on total_points. I need to find the rank of each user in that array. The issue is that more than one user can have the same total points and, thus, the same rank. For example, three users could be in 3rd place with 200 Points. • .htaccess newb - RewriteRule not matching 2nd rule, why?

  I am currently migrating from isapi_rewrite to .htaccess. I'm having some difficulty and I think it's something basic, but I'm not terribly familiar with .htaccess. I have the two rules like so: RewriteRule ^testing/ /test/index.html?test=1 [NC] RewriteRule ^testing/foo-bar/ /test/index.html?test=2 [NC] Yet the second rule never matches. If I go to http://mydomain.com/testing/foo-bar/ then I will only see the first rule. Why is that? And can it be easily fixed? I have many rules (outputted from the database to write the .htaccess file )and ordering them in a particular order isn't really possible.

• Searching in Ruby on Rails - How do I search on each word entered and not the exact string?

  I have built a blog application w/ ruby on rails and I am trying to implement a search feature. The blog application allows for users to tag posts. The tags are created in their own table and belong_to :post. When a tag is created, so is a record in the tag table where the name of the tag is tag_name and associated by post_id. Tags are strings. I am trying to allow a user to search for any word tag_name in any order. Here is what I mean. Lets say a particular post has a tag that is 'ruby code controller'. In my current search feature, that tag will be found if the user searches for 'ruby', 'ruby code', or 'ruby code controller'. It will not be found if the user types in 'ruby controller'. Essentially what I am saying is that I would like each word entered in the search to be searched for, not necessarily the 'string' that is entered into the search. I have been experimenting with providing multiple textfields to allow the user to type in multiple words, and also have been playing around with the code below, but can't seem to accomplish the above. I am new to ruby and rails so sorry if this is an obvious question and prior to installing a gem or plugin I thought I would check to see if there was a simple fix. • Default controller name is removed on browser refresh (CodeigniterPHP/Nginx issue?)

  For all pages in my codeigniter app except my default controller, when I refresh the browser the url isn't affected as one would expect. However for my default controller, main.php, when when I refresh the browser at "http://localhost/main" or "http://mysite.com/main", the main part is stripped off the url. So the browser bar shows just "http://localhost" or "http://mysite.com". Totally lost on where to start with this but was just wondering if anyone has come across this before...? • Error using MVCContrib TestHelper

  While trying to implement the second answer to a previous question, I am receiving an error. I have implemented the methods just as the post shows, and the first three work properly. The fourth one (HomeController_Delete_Action_Handler_Should_Redirect_If_Model_Successfully_Delete) gives this error: Could not find a parameter named 'controller' in the result's Values collection. If I change the code to: actual .AssertActionRedirect() .ToAction("Index"); it works properly, but I don't like the "magic string" in there and prefer to use the lambda method that the other poster used.   Hi, i have a quick question. I have a 2D array that stores an instance of a class. The elements of the array are assigned a particular class based on a text file that is read earlier in the program. Since i do not know without looking in the file what class is stored at a particular element i could refer to a field that doesn't exist at that index (referring to appearance when an instance of temp is stored in that index). i have come up with a method of testing this, but it is long winded and requires a second matrix. Is there a function to test for the existence of a field in a class? class temp(): name = "default" class temp1(): appearance = "@"

  Suppose i have an array $x = (31,12,13,25,18,10); I want to reduce this array in such a way that the value of each array element is 32. so after work my array will become $newx = (32,32,32,13); I have to generate this array in such a way the sum of array values is never greater than 32. so to create first value, i will reduce 1 from second index value i.e. 12, so the second value will become 11 and first index value will become 31+1 =32. This process should continue so that each array value becomes equal to 32.

• Using a different array for vertices and normals in glDrawElements (OpenGL/VBOs)

  I'm currently programming a .obj loader in OpenGL. I store the vertex data in a VBO, then bind it using Vertex Attribs. Same for normals. Thing is, the normal data and vertex data aren't stored in the same order. The indices I give to glDrawElements to render the mesh are used, I suppose, by OpenGL to get vertices in the vertex VBO and to get normals in the normals VBO. Is there an opengl way, besides using glBegin/glVertex/glNormal/glEnd to tell glDrawElements to use an index for vertices and an other index for normals? Thanks

• My Lucene queries only ever find one hit

  I'm getting started with Lucene.Net (stuck on version 2.3.1). I add sample documents with this: Dim indexWriter = New IndexWriter(indexDir, New Standard.StandardAnalyzer(), True) Dim doc = Document() doc.Add(New Field("Title", "foo", Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.TOKENIZED, Field.TermVector.NO)) doc.Add(New Field("Date", DateTime.UtcNow.ToString, Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.TOKENIZED, Field.TermVector.NO)) indexWriter.AddDocument(doc) indexWriter.Close() I search for documents matching "foo" with this: Dim searcher = New IndexSearcher(indexDir) Dim parser = New QueryParser("Title", New StandardAnalyzer()) Dim Query = parser.Parse("foo") Dim hits = searcher.Search(Query) Console.WriteLine("Number of hits = " + hits.Length.ToString) No matter how many times I run this, I only ever get one result. • Is it OK to mixed NumberLong and normal integers in the same field in MongoDB?

  I have been using Morphia to persistent objects from Java. I have also been running some batch processes from the console. I just realised that some values are now stored as NumberLong and number as plain Javascript numbers. I have an index on this field. Everything seems to be ok, but if I query: {f: 100} from the console it still returns the object even if it actually contains {f: NumberLong(100)} Is this true of all the drivers? It is best practice to avoid NumberLong is I can fit the value inside 32-bit? Will I save a lot of data and index space if I convert all NumberLongs to basic numbers?
